Lose preview files after duplicating sequence

On CS3, if I duplicated a rendered sequence, the rendered timeline remained intact in the duplicated sequence. In CS4, the renders go away, making it necessary to re-render the timeline. What am I missing? The video preview scratch disc is the same.

Well, these results dont seem to help answer the original question. Here are the final export and a rendered file synced up NORMAL BLEND
Here is DIFFERENCE BLEND.
here is Y/C Waveform in the difference mode.
So Colin, it seems no recompression is taking place, which leaves the question ...if the  preview files take 10 minutes to render on the timeline, when Exporting the sequence (using those Preview files) why does it take another 10 minutes .
This a bound to be one of the biggest complaint from folks switching from FCP that are used to its more accelerated output.

I have the latest downloadable version of LR5.  It crashed while it was createing 1:1 previews during an import. After a Win7(64) restart, it shows a message that LR needs to quit because it can't read the preview files and it will try to fix it the next time is launches.  I get the same message the next and every subsequent time it launches so I can't launch LR at all now.
I get that the preview file got corrupted somehow.  Is there some way to fix this problem without building a new catalog?

Use Windows Explorer to open the folder containing your catalog. You will see a folder with the extension .lrdata. You need to delete that folder and then start Lightroom again. Lightroom will generate a new previews folder.

  • JMF Play files in a sequence one after another

    Hi
i developed a JMF based player for playing more than one files in a sequence one after another.
problem is that it playes all files at same time.
it should run 2nd file when one file is completed.

I think time period or state of media will be helpful

  • Refresh all labview calls in a Sequence file after VI change

    Hello,
I am not sure if this is how Teststand is supposed to work, or is there a workaround for this.
I have a VI that I eventually add enumerated values to a drop down list on the front panel. When I do so, then I will not be able to run any sequence that calls this VI unless I reload the VI. This will not be a problem if I have to do it once or twice, but I am using this VI all over the place and it becomes tedious in this case.
Is there a better way to automatically update all the VI calls in a sequence file at once ?
    Thanks,
    Sam
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Michael W,
I thought that once a test application has been deployed with TestStand along with source module VI's, I could update individual VI's on deployment target without going through TestStand deployment utility.  I thought I could simply copy the updated VI's to the target folder that contains source module VI's.  This turned out to be not true.
This article says the deployment utility does more than simply copying VI's (http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/websearch/49A380D75C705AE1862575DB0005503D?opendocument&Submitted&&...).  Therefore my concept of updating VI's on target machine by simple file transfer would not work because TestStand would lose dependencies information between test sequence and VI's (and their sub VI's).
Would test sequence still run on deployment machine if the change in VI is limited to code inside the VI (meaning, inputs and outputs don't change)?
    Thanks
    Steve
p.s. I was going to start a new thread with my question but I explained here since you asked why I would update VI's on deployed system.

  • What is the teststand api call to execute sequence file after it is opened-C#?

I am programming in C#. I want to make a call to execute a sequence file after I call OpenSequenceFile. I want to do this outside of the GUI. I know that the GUI has a Single Pass button that executes the sequence, I want to know how can I just make the execution call myself?

  • I deleted the preview files and now the sequence on the timeline is missing

I deleted the preview files to save disk space by doing Sequence/ delete render files, now the sequence on the timeline window is missing. what can i do te recover the already assembled sequence on the timeline?
    Help please!!!
    Elio

First, are you sure that you deleted the Preview files, and not your media files? Can you check in Windows Explorer, that your media files are still where you had them?
Next, if it was the former, and not the latter, this should not happen. Did PrPro give you any sort of message, when you loaded your Project? Something like "where is file xxxx.AVI?"
There are instances where Sequence Timelines do not appear in the Timeline Panel. I'd not think that this would be one of those instances, but... is your Sequence still showing in the Project Panel? What happens if you Dbl-click on it there?
Do start checking the sales for hard drives. Editing video without enough hard drive real estate is asking for problems. It will be money well-spent.
    Good luck,

  • Losing Preview files when changing start point

The way I always like to work is to select raw clips from my footage, then applying all the effects I want to do on them, render and then fine tune the in and out points of the clips, to fit the music I set it to. In previous projects this worked and I could just slide the end and start points of the clips on my timeline without having to render again. But with my current project I can change the out point of my clip, but as soon as I slide the beginning of my clip I lose the preview file. This is a really ineffective way of working. I hope somebody knows a setting that will prevent this. My sequences are PAL 16:9 25 progressive and I use 50P (deinterlaced) PAL footage and some 25P After Effects compositions.
    Thanks for the help!

  • Preview files, how to get rid of unused ones ?

Is there a way to clean the preview folder for those not used in the project ?

Right, but that's sort of a brute force tactic--you lose all preview files unless you can pick out the relevant ones from the cryptically named preview files. What is missing from Premiere Pro is a "Delete Unused/Inactive Render Files" command that would eliminate old or unused previews, and retain those which are in use by a currently-rendered sequence. Avid had/has a rather convoluted way of deleting unused "precomputes," but it was effective in slimming down a project and still maintaining your desired render files. Premiere Pro is behind on this.
That said, NO previews being required would be even better

  • Video Preview files

How can I change my video preview render file preferences?  I'd like to render my timeline previews in Pro Res, but that setting in my Sequence Settings dialaog box is grayed out.  I'm on a Mac and I do have Final Cut installed on my iMac.
The Preview File Format box shows I-Frame only MPEG and it's grayed out...
    thanks

It may be rebuilding the sequence, but I don't think it's re-rendering the files if I have the "Use preview" box checked.  The video has color correction (Magic Bullet) applied to almost all the clips.  It has titles on many of the clips.  All I know, is that one sequence that has pro res preview files being used takes MUCH LESS time than the same sequence that doesn't use preview files, exported to Pro Res.  Both files end up the same size after export, both look the same but one renders in 1/2 the time of it's duration while the other takes 5 times its duration...
I have hit and miss success with the Use Preview button.  Some times, my exports are super fast, others (such as one I'm waiting for as I write this) are ridiculous.  I have a 3-minute sequence, entirely rendered to ProRes previews.  Export time is 25 minutes, whether Use Previews is checked on or off.  Apparently, Pr is re-rendering the entire sequence.  25 minutes is about how long it took to Render all effects in the Work Area (set to the entire Sequence) before I Exported/Make Movie.  I shouldn't have bothered rendering.

  • Audio rendering problem, can't export- hundreds of hours, audio preview files hundreds of gigs

    Hi,
I'm working on a feature doc and trying to render and export about 4 hours of material. Please advise.
Premiere Pro CC 8.2.0 (65) Build
Mac Pro 3.2 GHz Quad Core Intel
    16GB 1066 MHz DDr3
    OSX 10.8.5
The sequence is mixed media, this is a doc with numerous cameras and formats. Most of the footage is in multicam clips. I am able to play back OK and the video rendered in about 4 hours. Fine. But when I try and export audio, the process of generating preview files for export is unbelievably slow. I let it render for 4 hours and it got to 0.5% and created 350 gigs of preview files, larger than the picture files!!! There must be a problem with my settings or the software because this cannot be right. This is my first premiere project (after 10 years of FCP) and would greatly appreciate any advice.
    I have tried:
    cleaning the media cache
starting a new project with just the export sequence
restarting PPCC and the computer of course
rendering and exporting smaller sections of the timeline (ten minute chunks)
making a new sequence with multitrack audio instead of stereo playback. This allowed me to render the audio in about 1 hour- great! But when I tried to export (using an adobe preset for vimeo) it crashed. When I re-opened the project it is now back to saying it will take about 300 hours to render the same audio.
I've tried flattening the multicam, but this removes a large number of the audio files completely from the sequence. The selections I made in the multicam tracks in the sequence are not reflected in what is left of the flattened audio.

<<I'm speculating, but I doubt Apple would be able to provide Keynote so cheaply, or at all, if it were not for its successes in iPhones, iPods, and other major undertakings that require the full-time attention of its brightest and most dedicated people. >>
Good point. However, coupled with the fact that the Macintosh platform is more widely used for production of both audio and video in the entertainment industry than the "other" system, this cries-out the fact that audio is an important element of +some aspect+ of Apple's product focus.
Thus, it remains "a puzzlement" (to quote Oscar Hammerstein) that Apple has not paid more heed to the audio facilities and capabilities in Keynote - despite the long-time, repeated pleadings of many of us in this (and the Keynote Feedback) Forum.
Many of the problems that we are encountering and about which we are complaining have been known since the very first issue of Keynote. None has been addressed in subsequent releases. In fact, with respect to the problems of exporting Keynote presentations to other formats, some features have grown more problematic and less reliable - admittedly, not always as a function of Keynote (i.e. the problems with QuickTime).
As has been stated previously in this and other threads in this Forum, raging against Apple is futile and frustration is self-defeating. All we can do is continue to assist each other with "tips and tricks" in this Forum and to make our concerns known to Apple via the Keynote Feedback Forum.
    Good luck to all.

  • Premiere CS6 ignores preview files

I've just moved over from FCP to Premiere and I'm having some teething problems.
I have created an XDCAM HD 1080p timeline, made my film and graded it.  I have then applied "Render Entire Workflow" so that I can watch the sequence without any dropped frames.  The preview render files are saved in my documents folder on my machine.  But after saving and reopening the project, I have to re-render the whole sequence again.
It's as if Pr can't find the preview files.  The scratch disk is pointed to the right place and the files haven't been deleted.
Ha anyone got ideas on what's happening?
    Thanks,
    Dan
    Computer specs:
    Premiere CS6.0.5
    MacOSX 10.6.8 3.2GHz Intel Core i3
    12GB 1067 MHz DDR3
Update:  After adding some audio to 5secs of the film, the whole film needs rendering again.

No I set the Preview files to my documents.  The footage is stored on an Space server.  Oringinally I had the preview files to follow the project, I had the same problem, so switched to keeping it locally.
The disk location for the Media cache is local(library/application support/adobe/common) but in a different place to the preview files.  "save media cache files next to oringinals when possible" is unchecked.  I'm not sure if any of this will have  an effect?

  • Any solutions for lost render/preview files when opening files?s

Have any solutions been found for the intermittent lost render/preview files when opening a large file? I have Premiere CS6. A large project file that I have been working on lately opened without a hitch with previews intact ...until I bought new faster hard drives and rebuilt the computer (built with the same drive letters). I just installed the latest updates. When I now open this file, a segment of the sequence always opens without previews, unrendered, no matter how many times I rendered the file previously. I don't use 3rd party plugins. I am using the warp stabilizer. I tried all the suggestions that I have found on the forums (using a blank sequence to close and open, unchecking “write XMD…” etc.) but none work. I checked the render/preview drive, and these files are on that drive but they will no longer link to the project. It now takes a good 15 minutes to re-render every time I open.

I may have found a solution. I took out the warp stabilizer, and then added it back in on the clips in question, and then re-analysed and re-rendered. So far, so good. It seems that bringing in the warp stabilizer effect in the file into the re-built computer needed re-analysing (as I do after this 2 day exercise.)

  • How do I import images from my hard drive without losing resolution? My original files after import are significantly smaller. What should I do?

How do I import images from my hard drive without losing resolution? My original files after import are significantly smaller. What should I do?

Hi Keith, and all others chiming in, I do have the correct option checked in advanced settings telling iPhoto to copy the images into the library. What is a refernced library? Perhaps this is where I am getting confused. I exported my entire photo library from an old iMac5 to my external hard drive, from there I attempted to import the entire library to my new iMac. Am I overlooking an obvious and easy way to import from the hard drive to the new iMac--I dragged the entire photo pholder from the hard drive to the open window of iPhoto on the new computer. Now, I only get preview file sizes in iPhoto, unless I have my external drive open. Perhaps I need to import the original images from the hard drive in a different way...?! (This is making me feel pretty stupid.)

  • How do i transfer a compilation photo file from iPhoto consisting of canon(img) and lumix(p..) in the order i compiled them to a usb stick as at the moment it is putting all the lumix files after the canon files?

    I have a macbook pro 15 inch retina 16 gb 1600mhz 2.7intel i7 osx 10.8.5
I have just put together an iPhoto file of wedding photos consisting of a compilation of images from my canon(img files) and lumix(p..files) I want to know how to transfer them to a usb stick in the order i compiled them as at the moment it is putting all the lumix files after the canon files which is not how i want to present them to the newlyweds?

Files are ordered by the file-viewer being used.  What viewer are you using, and what data field are you sorting by?
In Finder, as in most applications, you can select the data field to sort by clicking a column header.  Clicking the selected header will reverse the sort.
This is the Aperture forum, but what applies to Aperture is likely also true for iPhoto:  if you want to be able to sort your files in a specific order in a file-viewer, you should give them names that allow for sorting in that order when the name field is selected as the data field to sort by.  In Aperture, one creates new files by exporting, and one uses a File Naming Preset to name the files.  The File Naming Preset can start with an ordinal count or a sequence number.  Either of which will allow you to retain your order when viewing your files in a file viewer.

  • Need help naming photo files in a sequence?

I want to name a group of files in a sequence. For example, I have 10 photo's from Joe's birthday party. I want to name the files JoeBirthday with a number after them (JoeBirthday1, JoeBirthday2, and so on.). I cannot figure out how to do this. Can someone help?

You can do this w/Automator but I'm not sure if it's any faster than other ways. If you have quite a few items and select all, it might be faster. See:
