Lose sound while using facetime

While using FaceTime, the person I am talking to loses the ability to hear me. I still hear them! Video is great. This is from my IMAC. Any ideas? If we hang up and they call me back it works for awhile but then the sound goes away again.   I am using my IMAC and they are using IPAD2.

Im having the same issue. done lots of hunting and can't find any fixes. just want to let APPLE know that this is a wide spread issue.

Troy, I beg to disagree. I've just done a test and find that I can record video from my external USB microphone (A logitech AK5370). Here is the menu:
I can also select the system (line) input or an input from an app which captures sound from applications

While using FaceTime, the connection drops on average right at about 38 minutes and then will not connect again. Does anyone else have this issue?

What does "won't switch" mean? Won't switch on? Won't switch front to back?
Try a reset... press the home and sleep/lock buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
Try shutting down the app...
From any Home Screen, double tap the home button to bring up the Recents List
Tap and hold any icon until they wiggle
Press the red to delete the FT app from this list.
Press the home button twice when done.
Restart FT

IPhone 5 making weird sound while using Viber

My iphone will start making strange low tone beep sound while using viber. Only when I close the app (holding it long at multi-task and clicking the X) will it stop. And then when I open it again it will start making weird beeps again. Please help.

I am experiencing some weird behavior while using External Subtitles, e.g. Playing an AVI file with PS3MediaServer works fine but playing the very same AVI file with external subtitles gives me the video with subtitles and no sound.
My Server configuration is as follows :

Having the same problem. I'm watching all of my movies without subs now, because transcoding kills the 5.1 audio (no problems with 2 channel audio). A workaround is posted in the comments of the pms-svn package.
I will post the URL to this thread to another thread with probably the same problem (mplayer/x264). I have not yet seen a real solution to this, and I'm not really familiar with the bugzilla's from both projects.

Another workaround might be to trick pms into using ffmpeg or vlc rather than mencoder. I'm also streaming to a ps3 - I didn't try it, but it could be as easy as temporarily changing settings inside the profile for a ps3-client.

Imovie sound disappears using facetime??

I tried to record using Facetime and the blue bar has appeared for sound, but I cannot get it to play - the movie plays but without the audio! any help please?
I can seperate the audio so I know its there, but for some reason I cannot hear it. I have the new Imovie
Also how can I avoid this problem in the future?

Some follow up. I finally shut down the project, repaired permissions and threw away the imove.plist. Not sure which action helped, but when I reopened it I had music, but not my changes adding chapter titles. Not a big deal to fix.

Some basic troubleshooting steps for FaceTime activation.....
Check Settings>General>Date and Time>Set Automatically>On. Make sure that the time zone setting is also correct.
Try restarting or resetting your iPad and then try activating again.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

While using FaceTime/Skype person can't hear me

2 weeks ago I was using skype and facetime and it worked perfectly. One week ago i started having problems, and today I had problems that I thought I had fixed by going to settings, input, internal mic. It seemed to be working, but when I tried to use skype today, the same problem occured. When talking on facetime and skype the person on the other end doesn't hear me, but I can hear them just fine. This problems occurs on my Macbook Pro.
Any ideas??

Monitor my Sound while using Voice Over?

Hi all -- I have a problem using Final Cut Express 3.5 HD: Can I monitor my voice with headphones while using the voice over tool. So far I can hear the soundtracks of the material i am voicing over but not my own voice - and this is disturbing. Thanks in advance! Autogrill

The ideal way is to do it on a tape recorder etc.
(well away from the computer) and then import it, cut
it and position it exactly where you want on the
audio timeline.
I use Audacity (excellent and free) to record my voiceovers while the project is running in View > Video out > Digital Cinema Display. This ensures that the voice is in sync and with the mike several feet away from the computer there is no noise. Save the voice from audacity as an AIFF file and drop it into the Timeline and adjust the position to sync it.
Or, if I can't think fast enough and without ums and ahs, I record in blocks.

Hello there! when I'm connected with my Ipad on facetime to my daughter (she's got an imac), after a while (it depends, sometimes 10 minutes or sometimes less or more...), suddenly I can't hear her anymore!! But she still hears me...
