Lose txt file type registration on un-install

Hi,
I un-installed DreamWeaver CS3 from one computer (evaluation
installation), and now my file type "TXT" is no longer registered
in Windows Explorer / Folder Options / File Types. I've tried to
add back the registration from there, but it does not stay.
Double-clicking on a TXT file still opens notepad, however. The
real problem caused by this is that "Text Document" no longer shows
in the document type cascade list up when I righ-click in a folder
and hilight pop-up item "New". I would like this back - any
suggestions?
Also - any idea why DreamWeaver CS3 too approximately 1/2
hour to un-install??? The un-install finished successfully with no
error messages.
Thanks.

I'm experiencing problems too - (XP Home). The un-install too
1/2 hour and worse I can't get my old Dreamweaver 8 to
re-install/repair (it keeps requesting me to insert "Disk 1" - i'm
reinstalling from a CD ) - the reason i want to reinstall it is
that now I can't run my Cold Fusion files - i suspect the data
connections might be hosed ...
any suggestions on how to at least get my dreamweaver 8
repaired ? I'd like to do that before wasting a lot of time looking
for other problems
thanks for any help

  • Testing for applications associated with a file type

    Dear contributors,
while trying to open a simple *.txt file via java.awt.Desktop.open(File)
the IOException is thrown. According to Javadoc there is "no associated
application or the associated application fails to be launched" in this
case. Interestingly the Desktop class does not provide methods to test
for particular file type registration, just for the "support" of a generic
Desctop.Action. Colud you please illuminate how to check, whether a file
extension / file type / mime type has an associated application in a platform
(in)dependent way at least for "opening" ?
    OS: Linux, 2.6.24-22-generic, x86_64
    JDK: 1.6.0_07, 64 bit
    Many thanks

If you make the call and an exception is thrown, then there is not application associated with the file type--otherwise I believe you need to do some registry work if you do not want a pretest.

  • Open Batch Multi Load file type error

    Hi,
I have been trying to use Open Batch MultiLoad via FDM Workbench, but encountered error that it .csv file type is unknown at Import stage.
A couple things that I have tried:
    - Using multiload via FDM Web Interface to load the .csv file: Success
    - Using open batch multiload via Workbench to load the .csv file: Failed
    - I tried to rename the .csv file itu .txt (without changing the content), tried to use open batch multiload via Workbench to load the .txt file: Success
It seems that if I try to execute open batch multiload, FDM is able to read the CSV format but refuse the .csv file type to be processed.
Do I miss something for using openbatch multiload to load .csv file?
    Thanks,
    Erico

    Thx
    KempHi Kemp,
I didn't get the fix for this issue. Since we decided to not use the Open Batch Multi Load (not because this issue), I stopped researching on this issue.
But some workaround that you might want to try:
<li>Simply have the source file in .txt file type</li>
    or
<li>Since open batch uses script, before executing the Multi Load script, change the file type from .csv to .txt using script</li>
    Hope this helps.

  • Excel 2007 throws "this action is valid for the products which are currently installed" while i try to open .txt file format.

    Hello,
We have Windows 2008 r2 TS, on which we have MS office 2007 Standard installed. There are almost 50 users on this particular machine.
The problem is we get an error message when we try to open a .txt file in Excel (Right click on .txt file--> Open with --> Excel). Error message is as follows  "this action is valid for the products which are currently installed".
Previously this was faced by all users so we completely reinstalled it, which worked, except for 1 user.  Currently i have recreated the profile for that particular user but that also didn't helped.
A drag-drop approach works but user don't want it that way.
Now am clueless in terms of where should i look into. Any help would really be helpful.

    Hi Amol S,
As per the description, I understand that you are trying to register .dll files in your computer now.
I suggest you to go through the following article to know more about registering .dll file.
    Refer to the Link:

    dll files.
    Register dll file
    To register a dll or
ocx file, open a command prompt windows as an administrator, type the following and hit Enter:
regsvr32 “path & filename of dllor

  • How can I open a cfm file in Dreamweaver CC using a Mac? Added to the Extensions.txt. Getting error adding to preferences-- file types.

I am trying to open Cold Fusion files using Dreamweaver CC. We've never had a problem with the versions before the Cloud. My co-worker can open using a PC, but I'm using a Mac. I can connect to the server and see the files, but when I open, it opens the file in text editor. I have tried adding the extensions to the Extensions.txt file (they weren't there previously), editing the MMDocumentTypes.xml file (the file type WAS in that file), adding to the Preferences-->File Types/Editors (I can add the extension, but when I try to choose Dreamweaver CC as the editor, I get an error "You cannot use Adobe Dreamweaver CC as an external editor. Please choose a different application."). When I right-click the file, I do not see an "Open With" option, only "Open".  Does anyone know of another trick that could make Dreamweaver CC more than an HTML editor for Mac?  I cannot us CF Builder - no approval for loading the extra files server-side to use that IDE.

In case you did not find it, the following is a copy/paste of the Announcement on Premiere Elements 19/NVIDIA GeForce
that appears at the top of this forum.
Premiere Elements 10 NVIDIA Video Card Driver Roll Back
If you are a Premiere Elements 10 user whose Windows computer uses a NVIDIA GeForce video card and you are experiencing
Premiere Elements 10 display and/or unexplained program behavior, then your first line of troubleshooting needs to be rolling
back the video card driver version instead of assuring that it is up to date.
Since October 2013 to the present, there have been a growing number of reports about display and unexplained workflow
glitches specific to the Premiere Elements 10 user whose Windows computer has a NVIDIA GeForce video card. If this applies
to you, then the “user to user” remedy is to roll back the NVIDIA GeForce video card driver as far as is necessary to get rid of
the problems. The typical driver roll back has gone back as far as March – July 2013 in order to get a working Premiere
Elements 10. Neither NVIDIA nor Adobe has taken any corrective action in this regard to date, and none is expected moving forward.
Since October 2013, the following thread has tried to keep up with the Premiere Elements 10 NVIDIA reports

  • Change file type associations after install?

    Hi there,
i need to open/save .mp3 files with audition. apparently i forgot to tick the respective box during the file type association part of audition setup. is there a way to subsequently add .mp3 to a list of associated file types for audition?
i double-checked - when trying to work around via right-click on a mp3 file --> open with... and then browsing for audition.exe it just goes back to the list of programs to choose from but audition is not the
also, i can drag & drop mp3 files into audition and work on/with them, but cannot save them as .mp3. this is somewhat strange behavior as i can't see why i can work with the files but cannot really open them with audition nor save them from inside audition. i hope i don't have to reinstall it, any thoughts on this?
    thanks,
    fux
EDIT: i recognized that this also counts for .pk files, same here..

    thanks for answering ryclark,
but audition is not in the list. even further, when i choose open with, select choose default program, browse and select audition and click "open", i get directed back to the open with.. list of programs as if nothing happened and audition is still not available from the list. i guess thisis because i didn't associate .mp3 and .pk files with audition in the first place (= when installing audition).
while it was working, in contrary to your statement, loading a .mp3 file in audition and just clicking on "save", like a ctrl+s would do, saved it perfectly fine as .mp3.
besides, i know that audition works with .wav files and that .wav is the common format of choice regarding lossless results. nevertheless i would like to be able to load .mp3 files (and .pk files!) into audition and be able to save to .mp3.

  • New computer ff install not listing all file types under tools-options-applications

New windows installation on another with the same version of ff (10.0.2). Clicking local .pls files in this machine gives option to launch VLC media player but on other computer just text appears.
The extension appears in the applications tab after clicking tools and options on this computer, but the list is far shorter on the other machine and does not include this extension. Is this rectified by installing a plugin? If so which one?

The issue isn't that VLC isn't playing the files- it is... but linking to the files saved on my system does not launch VLC from Firefox on the other computer like it does on this one. I've actually been able to add to the applications list. Technically I can run the same apps and associations on both machines except that Firefox isn't handling the ".pls" files at all with the other machine
I've saved a directory structure with .pls files to different streaming radio stations and the directory is linked to from Firefox on both computers... identical directories and files stored. When I bring up one of the folders in this machine and click on the file, I first get the same dialog as you attached- I launch VLC by selecting "Open with" then clicking OK. The radio station plays. I've set it to change stations when I click within the iframe without having to go to VLC and use the open media feature- it does the trick with a single click from Firefox,
The other machine when I click the file the iframe in which the directory was displayed shows text information (urls and other arcane digital nonsense) as though the file were a text file. Both machines have similar installations.... I do not want to overload on the other machine- it's my communications backup but I would like this arrangement to work as it does on this computer.
Again, the biggest hint I see is the absence of the ".pls" file type in the list under the "applications" tab after clicking "Tools"-"Options" in Firefox on the machine in question.
Can something be done either by transplanting missing files from one machine to the next or from about:config to induce the desirable result from the other machine in Firefox?

  • There are no readers registered for the txt type - Issue importing txt file

    Hello guys,
I am working on SQL developer 3.2. and Oracle database 11g. I am trying to import a txt file with only two columns and 100 rows separated with a pipe. I can import the same file if its in *.CSV or *.xls format. I right click on the table > Import table > Choose the *.txt file > and then I get a message "There are no readers registered for the txt type". Why? Where do I get the reader? I am using the same exact method and the same exact data to import using a different file format and I do not get any errors. The wizard comes up and I am ready to load. I have scoured through this forum for a solution and I could not find one. Any help is very much appreciated.
    Thank you!

It means we don't support that file type for doing imports. It sounds like a reasonable request to [add to the Exchange|sqldeveloper.oracle.com] though.

im trying to create a java game like hangman if you heard of it. i noe that all the questions are needed to be type in a .txt file but i not sure how should it be type or in wad format. is there anyone out there who can help me with it? thank u

You can type the questions on diffrent lines. Then using io you can use the InputStream.readLine() function to get each question individually.
Why dont you try using JDBC for the same?

  • When I save my data to a spreadsheet txt file I lose some data why is this?

I lose about 3 hours worth of data everyday but it is at different times of the day. I am saving my data to a spreadsheet txt file in excell about every 15 minutes. Why is my data disappearing?

Joey, you have alot in your block diagram.
Are you losing time on your computer or is it data? Is the data missing in one piece or is it missing data in several pieces?
I have the following suggestions. Your code would benefit with subVIs. Also, instead of discarding readings that happen before your time specification, you can use a wait until next ms so that your program will sit idle until it is time to take a reading. You can also set indexes on you array functions and supply a format string on the format into file function to ensure that the proper values are outputed. If problems still exist, strip down your code to one data channel to simplify your file i/o. Run the stripped down code to see if it looses data.

  • Powershell script to get list of softwares installed as shown in registry on all the remote systems in a txt file

    Hi
I need to know the command for getting list of softwares installed on all the remote systems in network  which are existing in their respective registry like HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE of all other systems

    Hey
Sorry this isn't powershell but it should do the job if you want to use it. The problem with using the Win32_Product WMI Class to enumerate the installed software (especially on Windows 2000 & 2003 Servers) is that the WMI class is NOT installed by default. Here is a VBScript i wrote to read a list of hostnames from a text file named "ComputerNames.txt" from the scripts directory and attempt to remotely enumerate all subkeys within the following registry key
    HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall
For each subkey enumerated it will attempt to read the value of the "DisplayName" key and output the results to a csv file.
(the results should be the same as what you would see when you open Add/Remove Programs)
    Hope that helps
    Cheers
    Matt :)

After installing Acrobat/Reader on Windows 7 or Vista, icons of all applications/file-types change to Acrobat/Reader icon and double clicking on any icon/file launches Acrobat/Reader (instead of the native application associated to the file type). Is there an easy fix for this problem?

I'm sorry, but I wasn't aware of a native PDF viewer for Windows.
Nonetheless, if you want to change your default PDF application in Windows, you need to right click on any .PDF file, select "Properties",
    then "Change",
then select the program you want to open a PDF with.
