Loses battery power after 1 hour of play

My iPod mini (first generation) loses battery power after about an hour of play.
I sent the iPod mini into Apple to replace the battery. But they said nothing was wrong with it.
That can't be true, because I remember playing my iPod for longer stretches of time than just an hour.
Thanks for any help!

The iPod battery indicator is only a very loose approximation of how much charge there actually is left.
See these.
Beef up my iPod battery.

Can I make the meter more accurate?
However, you also need to consider that the battery may need replacing.
If so, Google 'iPod batteries' for cheaper options than Apple.

  • IPAD 2 loses battery Power Quickly

Problem 1:  Within the last few weeks, my Ipad 2 loses battery power even when its powered down I've tried both closing the cover and using the main swithch  on the top right.  In all cases, I can start out at 100% and within a couple of hours be down to 85% after using it once and either closing the cover or pushing the switch.  Its as if something is still running.  I looked at the processes with all my apps off and didn't see any surprises .  I have processes 9424 dataccessd, 9412 ptpd, 6581 AdSheet~ipad, and 1340 iapd as well as a dozen or so process with numbers in the double digits from 49 on down.  It took me 9 hours last night to bring my pad from 20% to 100%.
Problem 2: I recently rented a movie from Itunes and tried to play it through my HDMI interface on my TV using the appropriate apple interface cords.  It started to play then I got a message that told me that the device I was trying to play the movie on wasn't authorized for protected media even though I had no trouble playing it on my ipad.?????What's with that?

    There is no "4S software".

There are dozens of versions of iOS.  Which version is your device on?

Is there a fix yet for the loss of battery power after updating to Lion? I've done the cmd-opt-shift restart and it didn't help.  This problem has gone beyond annoying now - it is absolutely maddening!    What is Apple's official response????

  • Powerbook crashing on battery power after repair

I just performed a repair of my PB (replacing a screen hinge). It's okay, except that now it freezes on battery power.
The pattern is very strange: if I reboot with the battery, it makes it all the way to the login screen and freezes when I try to type.
If I unplug it while it is already booted then the screen dims (I have it set to do that on battery power) and then freezes a second or so later.
All activity ceases, the cursor becomes unresposive. It's not that the computer is not getting power: the screen stays lit, for example (and of course, it can boot all the way to login screen on battery power; it also can operate for quite a while in single user mode on battery power; I tried it long enough to fsck the disk).
The specific symptoms of the the problem are just so bizarre that I'd suspect a software problem if I hadn't just done this big repair. (By the way, I've repaired the disk (no problems) and, even though I think it's useless, I repaired permissions too, just for good measure; neither had any effect.)
Does anyone have any clue what I could have done to precipitate such a weird problem? Could there be some screw that is over- or under-tightened? A connector that is loose? Should I just take the thing apart again and put it back together again?

Well, the problem is solved, though the mystery remains. I carefully took the computer apart again and tested it after every piece was removed. It failed every time. Finally there was not enough left to actually boot. Then I reassembled it and, behold, it works!
I removed the keyboard, modem, airport card, fan connector, and PCMCIA cage and still had a crashing system. (I'd also removed and reconnected the battery cable, and moved the DIMMs around.)
So then I just finished the job. I disconnected the following from the logic board: hard drive, DVD drive, display, speakers/mic, power button (yeah, yeah, there's a few more I could have removed and kept a bootable system, but I was starting to get bored). Then I removed the logic board, looked at it stupidly, put it back, and reconnected all those connectors.
Then it worked. (So I put back all the other stuff, and it still works.)
So presumably one of those connectors was lose, or else the logic board was somehow incorrectly mounted.
I still don't really understand how a loose connector or incorrectly mounted logic board would lead to the symptoms I was seeing, so if anyone has a hypothesis, I'd love to hear about it.

  • X220 won't start up on battery power after BIOS update 1.24/1.25

This is a really strange issue.
I had been using my laptop with the oriiginal 1.10 (or whatever the very first one was) BIOS until yesterday with no problems. I head that there were some important fixes in the newer BIOS versions so I updated to 1.25. Everything seemed to be working fine until I went to work and turned on my laptop. It kept  crashing before Windows would load (after the post screen but before any of the windows screens. It just stays black for a long time and then flashes a BSOD and restarts). I tried downgrading to BIOS 1.24 but the problem persisted.
It turns out that it does this whenever I try to start the computer without it plugged into the ac adaptor. When it is plugged in it starts up as normal but when unplugged it won't boot into windows. Once Windows is loaded I can unplug it and nothing happens but I still can't restart it without plugging it back in
Has anyone else encountered this problem? Is this a known issue? Any suggestions for what could be causing this strange behaviour?
If I can't get it figured out right away I will have to try to downgrade to the original BIOS version.

LOL! I just tried updating to 1.28 BIOS and had forgotten about the problem I had last time (when I tried updating to 1.24/1.25). I was just looking up what to do and came across this thread. I took me way too long to realize I was reading my own post from months ago! Boy am I slow.
I don't know if you are still subscribed to this thread Aamir but a hard reset is when you turn off the computer by holding down the power button until it turns off. Are you (were you) having the same issue with the newer BIOS versions as I am?
I think that the x220 is an amazing laptop spec-wise but are there ever a lot of driver/software problems! I keep trying to use the newer BIOS versions but I always have to revert to the original because Windows 7 won't start if I am on battery power (so basically anytime that I am not at home). I just bought a mSATA SSD (which is why I tried to use the newest firmware, I heard that older ones don't support them) and though the BIOS recongizes it, now Windows won't start if the SSD is installed! There is not much use in having a laptop with lots of ports and expansion options if it doesn't work when you use them!

  • Shuffle songs stops EXACTLY after 24 hours of playing music

I have a play list on Apple TV. I would like it to keep playing non-stop. However, it automatically stops playing the music after 24 hours EXACTLY. Can somebody help to find a solution?

There is no setting... I suspect it is coded in the application to do exactly what it is doing.

  • ATV Radio freezes after 24 hours of play

    Hi-
I have two ATV's at two different locations on different wireless networks. BOTH will freeze after about 24 hours of music playing. ATV must be unplugged to regain RADIO functionality.
    Any ideas on a fix?
    Thanks,
    Mike

I had an ongoing problem with my ATV crashing after several hours of Internet radio until I connected it by Ethernet cable and then the problem disappeared. If yours is connected by wifi, try it by Ethernet cable and see if that solves the problem.

  • Printer loses wireless connection after some hours

    Hello to all!
Printer is connected and I can see on the screen correct IP. Desktops with Win7 and Ubuntu are used. After switching on printer works properly, but several hours later its unreachable from both systems. Printer shows connection, I can see it in router web access tool, but it is unreachable. I have to switch off printer, reboot the router, then switch on printer - and it works. Not very comfort.
Does anybody know how to fix this bug?

Tips for preventing wireless connection issues
The following tips can help prevent wireless connection issues:
Move the printer and the computer or access point (router) closer together.
Remove any metal objects between the printer and the computer or access point (router). Objects such as refrigerators or metal bookcases can interfere with wireless transmission.
Move any device that emits radio signals farther away from the printer. Devices such as microwaves and cordless telephones can interfere with wireless transmission.
Consult the router manufacturer for updates and configuration of your router.
Make sure that your computer is not connected through a VPN. You cannot access your printer on your wireless network while connected to a VPN.

  • TP T500 loses battery power

I have a brand new Lenovo TP T500 laptop. Is it normal that battery loses power when laptop is powered off? When laptop was two days powered off, battery charge went from 100% to 69%.

I also have a new T500. Be aware that the physical power button, the virtual power button in Vista, and closing the display by default do not switch power off, just put the PC to sleep. From the Vista start menu you can choose "shut down" for the menue that apears after pressing the button with a triangle. I am new to Vista and this also surprised me.

  • "please wait very low battery" keeps after 1 hour charging

I keep getting the folowin message after more than one hour charging " please wait very low battery "

Always connect the iPod to a USB2.0 port at the back of your PC.
Dont connect to low power USB ports, on the fron of the PC, dont use USB Hubs, (may cause Sync problems and coruupt filesytem)
if you are using a Mac, dont connect to the USB port on the keyboard.

  • Zen Micro's Battery flat after 14 hours of being turned of

Now I'm confused, I fully charged my Zen Micro twice and then turned it off, and overnight the battery is fully drained. This cant be right can it's
I know others have experience the rundown issue, but making it sooo flat that it wont even turn on?
Do you think I have a faulty Zen or Battery?

Check the system info on the player itself and check for the version of firmware you have. It will show up as v .XX.XX Anything older than v .0.03 needs to be updated. A lot of battery draining issues were resolved with this firmware update. Also some people have said that keeping the headphones unplugged keeps power from draining as quickly while the player is off because the amp stays powered up.
If the player drains significantly after these two things I'd contact Creative SUpport about a replacement

  • Exchange Synced Contacts Lose Custom Ringtones After 24 Hours

Currently running iPhone 3GS with 3.1 against a Windows Exchange 2003 Server utilizing Active Sync. Once I assign custom ringtones to my contacts (that are synced from Exchange) after about 24 hours all ringtones are reverted back to Default.
Anyone else having this issue or is there a solution?
    Magnum

Actually, I thought a system update does do a backup and restore. I thought it wiped out the data, applied the system OS, then restored the data. Otherwise how would all of the settings, applications, and other data be in the same status as before the update? In any case, I wouldn't have thought that all contact data would need to be re-applied afterwards. But actually my main problem, aside from this, is that my contacts are consistently losing their custom ringtones. I use push services for my contacts, and I can understand why re-population of my contact data loses them since a ringtone isn't a maintained data field in Exchange, but this situation only makes it worse if I'll lose ringtones after every system update.

  • Hello, I have Airport Express connected through my PC which runs XP. After 2 hours of playing my iTunes library Airport just quits for no apparent reason. Has anyone had this problem and found a solution. I have log out to restart iTunes. Thanks Murray

Hello, I have Airport Express installed on my PC which runs XP. When I play my library through iTunes after about 2 hours Airport quits and I have to log out and restart my computer - very frustrating. Don't know if it is overheating but if anyone can make any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe Mail's message index is corrupt. The following procedure is safe to try. Its only deleterious effect is that windows you left open in Mail at step 1 won't reopen automatically in step 4.
    1. Quit Mail.
    2. Browse to ~/Library/Mail.
    3. Move "Envelope Index" to your desktop.
    4. Launch Mail.
Mail will rebuild its index before it opens any windows. It may take a few minutes to rebuild. Be patient!
The new index is likely to be a different size than the old one, usually smaller.
Only the Message Viewer window will open--not any other windows you may have left open when Mail quit.
Be sure your mail folders are there and have their messages. They always are there, but the prudent check anyway.
Be sure you can send and receive mail. This always works, too.
After you have done the above, trash the old Envelope Index that you saved on your desktop. It is never better than the new one, and as time goes on, it becomes more and more out of synch with your mail folders, so you won't want to put it back in Library.
If Mail doesn't crash for a week or two, you probably fixed the problem. If not, you at least freed up some disk space.
Let us all know whether and how you solved your problem.

  • MacBook Dies on Battery Power after 10 minutes

My wifes 13" MacBook dies after the power is unplugged after about 10 minutes. No warnings about reserve power or anything. After it dies I look at the battery indicator thats on the battery and it still shows full. When I turn the computer back on the battery reads fully charged. I'm thinking that this may not be a battery issue but something else.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Paul

This is a recently common issue with Macbook Lith-ion batteries.
You have a defective battery, although AppleTech defines defective as a battery below 350 cycle counts. That's the lifetime of your $130 battery, which may average between 6-13 months depending on how you use it.
Some customers have had to buy 3 batteries in the past 2 years because AppleCare doesn't cover consumable items, eg. batteries.
check consumer comments at http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?fnode=h ome/shopmac/macaccessories/power&revw=MA561LL/A
I'm hoping Apple will realize that a $130 macbook battery with a 350 cycle count lifetime, doesn't live up to "Apple" standards. Lith-ion batteries are known to have a 2-3 year lifetime not 6-13 months.
Customers shouldn't have to purchase AppleCare only to realize they have to continuously purchase new batteries every 6-13 months.
This is truly a manufacturer defect in my personal opinion.

  • My ibook loses battery power when turned off and unplugged

I have been puzzled by this since November 2006. I calibrated my battery twice as prescribed and still, as soon as i shut down my ibook and unplug it, it's battery charge goes down. Why is this? I'd greatly appreciate help. I'm a former pc user and none of my pc laptops have this problem. I just want to know why my battery loss power when unplugged and turned off. thanks in advance

Well you might want to try what they call "battery reconditioning" which is 7 simple steps listed below:
    1: Charge your iPod fully.
2: Use it till you cant trun it on anymore!
3: Then carge your iPod fully again.
4: Then Use it till you cant trun it on anymore!
5: One more time charge your iPod fully.
6: And then again Use it till you cant trun it on anymore!
7: Then one last time charge it fully again.
Reminder: it is best to let the battery die all of the way each time inbetween chages. for example if it has 60% battery life dont charge it use it till it is dead and then charge it up all the way!
*This should inturn maximise your battey life also!*
