Losing Authentication

We have a SharePoint page that displays Excel graphs. After viewing the page and leaving it or closing IE, the next time you try to look at it, your authentication is lost. It will force a prompt for a login and password but you still can't access it and
receive "This page can't be displayed".
You can get back in but only if you close IE and clearing the cache.
Any ideas?

Hello,
What authentication type you are using? Also please check ULS and event viewer log for more detail about error.
I have found this article if it could help you:

• [SOLVED] qnap losing authentication

Hey all,
I recently purchased a Qnap TS-410 for home use. I have it stuff with 4 2TB Seagate 5900 RPM drives (the ones QNAP recommends). I have Samba enabled on the device, and users set up within the qnap.
I can connect through Nautilus with smb://servername/sharename, and I can work as normal.
However, if left alone for a period of time, I haven't timed it yet, but I would say about 30-45 minutes), I become disconnected, and when I try to open up the mount point that is on my desktop I get the following error:
Could not display "smb://servername/sharename/". Please select another viewer and try again.
I unmount the share and remount and I'm good to go, but after a while of inactivity, I get disconnected again.
I have posted a message on qnaps forum, and thought I would try here as well since I'm running Arch (updated on 3/6/11).
any ideas, or places to look to keep me connected?

The fstab mount point works like a charm and I stay connected to the NAS. However, the only other issue I am now experiencing is that every now and then when I copy a file, it appears that arch "stalls" for about 5 minutes. The system isn't locked up as the numlock light will turn on/off when I press the button and the mouse arrow moves.I can even move the windows.
The system seems to be "doing something", but not sure what.

• 2.2 bricks iPhone?

Since updating to 2.2 I have had my phone brick twice. Not sure why, I power the phone up and it asks me to connect ti iTunes. If I ignore that, power down the phone and restart it, it works fine. It actually says " iPhone Activated" when I restart. Any ideas why the phone would be losing authentication?
FWIW, both times this has happened I started the phone where there is no/very weak cell signal. This is new since 2.2 though, it never happened on 2.0 or 2.1. Any help would be appreciated.

well yes and no, until I restart, it it is bricked. I guess not, because it is not permanent. However, a simple restart seems to satisfy it. When this happened to you, were you in an area with good cell signal? Just trying to see if that is the reason or see what had in common. I will search to read the 2.1 stories, but it seems this is in Apples court.

• Anyone know how to remove a pesky "Authentication Required" box?

I visited (shame on me!!) a tasteful but adult-oriented art photo site and by mistake clicked on a content link which required a "member subscription" to view. My system attempted to use iTunes to open the file, and it threw an "Authentication Required" nag box on the screen. The box continues, "To access this site, you need to log in to area 'Members_Only' on _____________.com. Your password will be sent in the clear.", followed by fill-in boxes for the Name and Password.
Now, I have never gone back to that site, yet almost each time I launch iTunes, I get this box, and I actually have to cancel out of it about 15 times in rapid succession before it will disappear from the screen and let the iTunes application display my music browser. Is there a preference cache file that I can trash to get rid of this, without losing any other valuable settings, like my iTunes online store registration info?

It sounds like iTunes is still trying to access or download something form that site. Let iTunes finish opening. click cancel on the dialog and check the iTunes library, podcasts and other folders.playlists for the unwanted content. Delete it when you find it.

• I do not have a backup from Mavericks, but Yosemite is causing too many problems. In LAYMAN'S terms, is there a way to get Mavericks back without losing all my files?

I updated to Yosemite while I was overseas and didn't have strong enough internet to do a Time Machine backup (it took hours to get Yosemite as it was and now I know that was dumb). Yosemite has made my older Mac almost un-usable. In LAYMAN'S terms, Is there a way I can go back to Mavericks or even an older system without losing my current files? I know nothing about computers and have not been able to find anyone in town that could help. Even the guy at the Genius Bar at Apple couldn't figure out how to help me. This whole Yosemite debacle has been the first time I've been disappointed in Apple. It has gotten me questioning whether I should go back to a PC.

This is the report. Thanks in advance for any help you can give!

• ISE Endpoint losing IP after transition to Low-Impact-Mode

I've recently moved an ISE implementation into the low-impact authentication phase, and the client's security cameras are having a rough go of it. In monitor mode, they were able to stay connected as they should but in low-impact mode they are losing their IP addresses as evidenced in the auth session output below:
SWITCH-1#sh auth sess int g4/0/6 Interface: GigabitEthernet4/0/6 MAC Address: 0040.8cc7.4822 IP Address: 10.92.6.3 User-Name: 00-40-8C-C7-48-22 Status: Authz Success Domain: DATA Oper host mode: multi-domain Oper control dir: both Authorized By: Authentication Server Vlan Policy: N/A ACS ACL: xACSACLx-IP-PERMIT_ALL_TRAFFIC-5165e13c Session timeout: 3600s (local), Remaining: 338s Timeout action: Reauthenticate Idle timeout: N/A Common Session ID: 0AFF320A000661C965742D42 Acct Session ID: 0x00067E9F Handle: 0x72000982Runnable methods list: Method State dot1x Failed over mab Authc SuccessSWITCH-1#sh auth sess int g4/0/6 Interface: GigabitEthernet4/0/6 MAC Address: 0040.8cc7.4822 IP Address: 169.254.45.196 User-Name: 00-40-8C-C7-48-22 Status: Authz Success Domain: DATA Oper host mode: multi-domain Oper control dir: both Authorized By: Authentication Server Vlan Policy: N/A ACS ACL: xACSACLx-IP-PERMIT_ALL_TRAFFIC-5165e13c Session timeout: 3600s (local), Remaining: 338s Timeout action: Reauthenticate Idle timeout: N/A Common Session ID: 0AFF320A000661C965742D42 Acct Session ID: 0x00067E9F Handle: 0x72000982Runnable methods list: Method State dot1x Failed over mab Authc Success
This is happening approx. every 10 seconds which curiously is the timer value of my dot1x tx-period. As well, the host never has its reauthentication timer restarted but I can see the following in ISE approx. every 10-15 seconds:
Why is it going through Dynamic Authorization? Why am I losing my legitimate IP address every 10 seconds and getting an APIPA address in its place? The port configuration is as follows:
interface GigabitEthernet4/0/6 description Security switchport access vlan 292 switchport mode access ip access-group ACL-DEFAULT in power inline auto max 15400 authentication event fail action next-method authentication host-mode multi-domain authentication open authentication order dot1x mab authentication priority dot1x mab authentication port-control auto authentication periodic authentication violation restrict mab dot1x pae authenticator dot1x timeout tx-period 10 storm-control broadcast level 2.00 storm-control action shutdown spanning-tree portfast spanning-tree bpduguard enableend
And my ACL-DEFAULT is...
Extended IP access list ACL-DEFAULT 10 permit udp any eq bootpc any eq bootps 20 permit udp any any eq domain 30 permit icmp any any 40 permit udp any any eq tftp 50 deny ip any any log
Upon switch log review, I'd noticed that the ACL-DEFAULT is blocking the cameras from certain igmp and tcp/554 (RTSP) communications. To see if it would help, even though I shouldn't have to, I placed ACE's into my ACL-DEFAULT to permit this traffic and would still drop my IP address every 10 seconds. I shouldn't have to do this because the "xACSACLx-IP-PERMIT_ALL_TRAFFIC-5165e13c" is a simple "permit ip any any" ACL which should allow all of the traffic to flow.
Ideas?
Kind Regards,
Kevin

As well, the dACL is properly replacing the first "any" with the endpoint's IP:
SWITCH-1#show ip access-lists interface g4/0/6
permit ip host 169.254.45.196 any
SWITCH-1#show ip access-lists interface g4/0/6
permit ip host 10.92.6.3 any
Kind Regards,
Kevin

• IP Address Changed on my AD - Now Authentication is not Working

I got a new service provider for my home network, and as a result their router provided a new set of IP addresses. My home network is supported by an OD running on Mac OS X Server v 10.4.11. The laptops in the house seem to be OK, but my main machine (Mac Pro) and two others can no longer authenticate, and therefore cannot be used by anyone but their local admin accounts. All of my user info came from the OD. I went through the process of changing the DNS services on the Mac Server, and it seems to be working properly. And I have removed the old LDAP Path on the client computers, and re-initiated it. But I'm not having any success. I'm guessing that the problem may be in the actual data stored in the LDAP database (since I would likely now have a new Kerberos key, but am reluctant to attempt to recreate it, for fear of losing access to critical data under my regular login accounts.
Can anyone point me to some documentation on how to handle a change of IP address on a Mac OS X server (which is my only server on this network).? I have obviously missed something - either on the server - or on the clients - or both.
Thanks,
C.

1. There are No Tickers Available (I assume that any previous ones were wiped, when I removed and then re-created the client's directory entry through the Directory Utility.)
The tickets will be generated the first time that you login to an OD server that has Kerberized services and will be used to access all services on the server that require authentication, if so configured, and will remain until you logout or the ticket expires. If you login to a client Mac as a local user and connect to the server as described previously, do you get the Kerberos login dialog, which will have the realm listed, or the standard login dialog?
2. When I try to create a new ticket, I get the dialog box, but cannot continue because the drop down for the REALM is blank.
The realm would be something on the order of, YOURSERVER.YOURDOMAIN.TLD. If the realm is not showing in Kerberos.app, then the client is not bound -or is incorrectly bound- to the server. Check your Server Admin app to see if Kerberos is running or not. Highlight the 'Open Directory' item under your server -it should show on the right as 'Running' or 'Stopped'.

• Problem authenticating user in Active Directory cross domain

Hi,
We have two different AD servers serving our London and Tokyo networks. My application runs in London network but used by both London and Tokyo users.
The two ADs have domain trust setup between them. I have groups defined in London AD to which users from both the London and Tokyo ADs are assigned.
'm trying to connect to London AD using the "users credentials" and retrieve the groups they are assigned to.
I can connect to the London AD using any of the London user and I could retrieve the groups. But when I use a Tokyo user credentials to connect using the London AD server 'm getting Security exception with a code indicating "User Not Found".
The code I use which is very basic is given below . The code below run as such gives me the following error,
[LDAP: error code 49 - 80090308: LdapErr: DSID-0C090334, comment: AcceptSecurityContext error, data 525, vece.
If I change in the code below, Provider URL to Tokyo AD Server URL then it works but I can't use that due to security restrictions. As per the Windows Team the domain trust should allow me to connect/bind to the London AD Server with the Tokyo credentials.
Hashtable<String, String> env = new Hashtable<String, String>();
env.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, "com.sun.jndi.ldap.LdapCtxFactory");
env.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, "london ldap server url");
env.put(Context.SECURITY_AUTHENTICATION, "simple");
env.put(Context.REFERRAL, "follow");
env.put(Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL, "[email protected]");
env.put(Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS, "password");
env.put(LdapContext.CONTROL_FACTORIES, "com.sun.jndi.ldap.ControlFactory");
ctx = new InitialLdapContext(env, null);
I would like to know how to authenticate a user in a cross domain Active Directory environment. I read in one of the blogs that the "simple bind" will not work for cross domain user authentication. Unfortunately the blogger didn't mention what would work :( . Any help is much appreciated.

Hi Praveen,
to avoid losing data when user objects are moved to new locations in the LDAP server, it is possible to configure the User Management Engine to use the value of a specific unique attribute as part of the unique ID instead of the distinguished name.
For this, you have to change the following UME properties:
For user objects: ume.ldap.unique_user_attribute=<attributename>
For account objects: ume.ldap.unique_uacc_attribute=<attributename>
For group objects: ume.ldap.unique_grup_attribute=<attributename>
Be aware that the attribute (i.e. cn or uid) must be unique in the configured user/group path.
Please read SAPNote 777640 for more information regarding this problem and the way to change the UME properties.
Best regards,
Robert

• SMTP Send Mail - too many authenticated connection...

Using Outlook on a MAC, and within this last week I have started to get this error when sending mail. I have read all the forum posts and help documents on this issue and ensured that my settings are as described and yet I am still having this problem.
Should I be switching to IMAP to avoid this problem, and if so how do I do that without losing all my SMTP downloaded email?
Thanks for any insight - it is causing me real issues now as I'm job hunting and can't reply to job emails!!!!

Yes same problem for me. In the last three days, or so, I will get the random "too many authenticated connections" message. I have just phoned BT twice this afternoon and had great trouble understanding both Indian guys. One suggested he's fixed it by adjusting things at BT to accept "S Client Mail", whatever that means! That however didn't fix it. The second suggested I needed to reset password (easy option that one), until I pointed out that I am having no trouble with password use on the BT webmail page or through my phone. He then said I'd have to reload Outlook to solve the problem. Yeah right, like I'm gonna loose all my emails, settings and calendar to satisfy his theory of "if it doesn't work then reload it". There is clearly a server problem somewhere and OH, how I would love to speak to someone, (anyone), at BT who actually knows what they are talking about from a network/server angle. Anyone worth their salary in networks could trace my activity online and find out what was going on and why it was failing.
Setting POP3 and all others checked by BT as being correct.

• Reinstalling Lion w/o losing old emails and applications

My Mid 2009 MacBook Pro running Lion has started showing some issues with Safari and Mail.
I'd like to be able to erase and reinstall Lion w/o losing my emails and the other appls. that are on the HD. I've kept Time Machine backups, of course, and want to really erase Lion and reinstall so I know that the OS is clean and fresh.....
Does anyone wiser than me know how to do this since I cannot separate Safari and mail from the rest of the OS..........
I do not have the original Lion install DVD so I will have to find a copy of Lion online.....
Thanks for your help!
Steve

Hi Steve and Allan:
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! Here is the EtreCheck results. I copied it to the clipboard BUT have no idea where that is within the OS so I copied and pasted the results. I hope that this makes sense to you. It's odd that it shows Time Machine as NOT being configured as I use it every couple of days to backup to an external HD,

• I don't get SMS messages with the code from Apple with two factor authentication

As soon as Apple enabled two factor authentication in Mexico, I activated the feature. For some time everything worked well. When iOS 8 was launched, I started updating my devices. I was able to update an iPad Air as well as my iPhone 5 (which is the device used for verification). However, when I tried to update my iPad mini, I couldn't. I stopped receiving SMS messages from Apple with the code for verification. Now I am stuck with an iPad mini that I cannot use with my Apple ID and I cannot use iCloud on my brand new iPhone 6 (anticipating the problem, I backed up my iPhone 5 with iTunes and I am up and running, but with no iTunes match and no iCloud backup).
I have spent time on the phone with Apple support, who promised to return my call with a solution, but they never called back.
Just a final note. I do not have the recovery key. I trusted Apple and never thought I would need it. The fact is I still think it is Apple's problem because the SMS messages should get to my phone, and they don't. I do not really care losing my iCloud Backups or my photos (I have them all backed up elsewhere) but I don't want to lose my e-mail address (a .mac domain) nor my purchases.

I sent a message to that person. He replied, but I didn't get anything. To make it even more puzzling, I asked him to cc to my wife and she got his message. Then I asked her to forward it to me, and again I didn't get anything. Next, I found an old message from that guy and forwarded it to myself. Same effect - the message disappears, although the "sent" folder has a copy!

• Wireless phone keeps losing IP settings

I have a wirless 7920 wirless phone that keeps losing IP settings, on the front screen it says "Authentication OK" but when tries to get a IP address it fails. The Wlan controller is 4400 series model number 4402

Not sure if this will help, but people across the country are experiencing difficulties with the roll-out AT&T/SBCglobal/Comcast ISP. They used to pass Internet traffic through their lines like telephone calls, but now their routers have a number of global security measures. These routers now must be programmed for IP passthrough, which assigns devices their own ISP based on the device IP plus an additional ISP identity. In addition, the routers must be programmed to open the ports required for the specific services that the user wants to enable. They couldn't figure out if the higher security settings should be default, or not, so certain events trigger the higher security settings, like traffic from foreign network or an http request within another http request, etc.

• _layouts/Authenticate.aspx losing Query String Parameters in redirection

Hi,
we are losing query strings when _layouts/Authenticate.aspx redirects to a application page after user authentication.
Example shown below
http Request is shown below
/_layouts/Authenticate.aspx?Source=http://ourwebsite.com/somepage.aspx?paramapp=testapp&paramdata=testdata
redirection happens fine, but all the query string expect the first gets truncated.
In the above the example paramdata gets truncated

Hi Chandan,
please have a check if should this situation applied, i just talked with my colleague regarding this,
if you are using OOB, there are a set on AAM that may not eligible to do so, for example there is an encoding feature on it, sharepoint by design may not able to receive this because security concern.
"When the AAM redirect is configured requests for data that doesn't exist in the local farm is directed to another farm. If this request contains a query string, the query string is dropped"
Regards,
Aries
