Losing 'authorization' to play my music on my iPod

completely weird...I updated my playlists today (and iTunes software) and was nailed with this message:
"some of the songs in the iTunes music library, including the song "Voices Carry", were not copied to the iPod "Tim's iPod" because you are not authorized to play them on this computer"
OK, the song is lame, but ...... there are a few dozen songs that have fallen victim to this problem.
any suggestions?

I am having the same problem. It seems when I updated Itunes I have about 10 songs that will not play on my computer, nor transfer to my Ipod. When I try to authorize them, it says the authorization was successful, but it still wont play or transfer. Any help would be appreciated! thanks

  • Unable to play purchased music on my iPod through my PC at work

I purchased music using my PC at home. While at work, I prefer to connect my iPod to my PC and play through the PC. However, I just noticed that my PC wants me to purchase or reauthorize the music I have already purchased at home to play on my iPod through my PC. I don't want to do this as I will use up one of my transfers. I think this might be a bug. Any ideas?

But they're still playing "through" iTunes... and iTunes needs to be able to read the protected tracks. It won't be able to do that unless it's authorized to do so.
Why not just authorize it? It's not that big a deal...

  • I can not play the music on my ipod on itunes

the ipod is working fine the only thing is when I canect to itunes the ipod appear in itunes but I can not play any song
I do not know if the reason is becouse I have the two ipods in the same camputer.

is your ipod set to auto sync? if it is, you cant listen to those songs on your computer. if you want to listen to songs that are on your ipod on your computer, set it to manually sync or whatever. that should work.

  • HT2045 why can i play my music from my Ipod on my computer

Dont understand why I am not able to see the song on Ipod on my computer
I see the playlist for before but it won't open up and allow my to play on my computer

You just need to change the update setting in Preferences>iPod to "manually manage songs and playlists" on your home PC before you connect it to your other PC. When that's done and you go to the other computer and connect, your songs will be accessible to play in the iTunes there.

  • HT4623 unable to play external music on my ipod touch.....nor during apps sound without hear phones pls help.

please hepl unable to hear external sonund...tried restore but no use hoping something useful from u..

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.

  • I just bought an IPOD Touch 5th and just realized that there is no place  to insert it into a Bose Docking Station to play the music from the IPOD thru the Bose, any suggestions.  The 4th Generation had a larger hole to connect to the docking station.

I just purchased a new IPOD Touch 5th and use a BOSE Docking Station.  I just realized this new IPOD does not have the hole in the bottom to
place it on the Docking Station like the IPOD 4 did.  Do you have any suggestions?  Does this not dock?

  • Playing music from my ipod on a different computer

    Hi,
I have an ipod mini, which is synced to my iMac at work, where I have a large itunes library. At home, I have an old G3 iMac, with only little space, so I don't have any music in my itunes library. Up to recently, I just played my music from the ipod at home. But since syncing at work with itunes 7.02, I can no longer play music at home from the ipod. I can see all the songs, but they are not playable, both in the ipod music folder, or the selection folder created.
    Any suggestions? Thanks.

Are the songs showing up as light grey text? Grey text when you look at the content and lock symbol at the bottom of the screen would indicate that your iPod is set to automatically update. If you want to access your iPod directly, play it through your iTunes, connect it to a second computer etc. you would need to change the update method to manual in the iPod preferences: Managing content manually on iPod

  • Can't access music on my iPod

Alright, so I have a 20 GB, 4th generation iPod on which I've put about 1,000 songs so far. For the past year, my iPod has been having issues (freezing, making the clicking noise with the sad iPod icon...) but I recently got it working again ...so I thought.
When I try to play the music on my iPod, none of it shows up. It doesn't matter if I try to access the music by Song, Artist, Genre, Album, Playlist... it's blank.
When I plug my iPod into my computer and open it with itunes, the same thing happens... none of my music shows up.
However, it still says I've used [x] number of GB, and when I open my iPod on the computer just as a hard drive, I can see the music files there.
I've tried uploading a few new songs onto my iPod and those ones do show up, but all the music I've added previously doesn't show up, though it appears to still be on the iPod.
Does anyone know what's up with this, or have any solutions to the problem?
    Thanks in advance,
    - C.

it could be caused by bad sectors on the HD of your iPod or the corrupted music/OS files.
Have you tried to do a format (not quick format) for your iPod and then a Restore?

Also having exactly the same problem.
I've followed the same steps with the same results.
Even check for the number of authorized computer : only one.
Tried to remove authorization and give it again : no change.
Still unable to listen to the tracks bought on the iTunes Store. It was possible the day I bought them and they have been transferred to the iPod through iTunes.
I have listened to those tracks on my iPod for a few days.
But when reconnecting today (first time since the date of purchase), I cannot listen to those purchased tracks anymore and they seem to have been removed from my iPod by iTunes !!!
This was my first purchase on iTunes Store and it's a very bad experience. Unable to listen to music I've bought !

  • HT1911 I have reset my Apple ID & Password but I still cannot access the music I purchased using another computer, ID & PW. It keeps saying that my computer is not authorize to play the songs. I have tried everything and nothing seems to work. Help!

I have reset my Apple ID & Password but I still cannot access the music I purchased using another computer, ID & PW. It keeps saying that my computer is not authorize to play the songs. I have tried everything and nothing seems to work. Help!

iPod touches or any iDevices from Apple sync only to one computer. If you sync to a different computer, all your music will be replace with the music from the new computer's iTunes. If the music were purchased from iTunes, you can re-download them again otherwise the music on iPod touch will be deleted. Do you have iTunes backup?

  • Authorization to play music on another computer

We just bought my wife her own iMac computer. Up until now she has used my computer to purchase songs off itunes and sync with her ipod.
I have transferred the songs to her computer now they all require authorization to play on the new computer. Is there a quick way to unauthorize the songs on my computer and authorize them on her computer? I don't want to go one by one to authorize and unauthorize.
    Thanks

I previously bought tracks using a different user name (email) which I've since updated. I try and play these tracks and it says they're not authorised. I authorise the computer using my new user name, whilst it says it's successful it still says the tracks are unauthorised. Any suggestions?
    Thanks

  • Help,! iTunes wont let me play the music I bought at the the iTunes store!!

When I try play the music I bought at the iTunes store, iTunes first asumes my computer is not authorized to play it. I add my password to authorize, the authorization is successful, then I get this error:
"we could not complete your itunes request. An unknown error (-208) there was an error in the music store"
All I have done is added an external harddrive to my machine, there was simply no more room on my C: drive for MP3's. I changed the location of where purchased music goes to this new drive.
Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Is this a problem that happened over night, or you don't know because you only started to buy and watch movies now?
Can you check to make sure iTunes and everything else is all up to date? If that still fails, lets make a new USER Account, and see if things run proper through there.

  • How do I create a new account for an iPod that is on an existing account?  My brother and I have shared an account for five years, and now that I'm moving out, I want to create my own account but still want to be able to play the music I've purchased.

My brother and I have shared an account for five years, and now that I'm moving out, I want to create my own separate account but still want to be able to play the music I've purchased over five years.

In order to continue to play and sync the music you purchased with your old account, you'll need to authorize your new computer/iTunes library to do so.  You can do this by choosing Store -> Authorize This Computer and then entering in your old account credentials.
That's all you should need to.  Then just create your own account and start purchasing and using it the same you have with the old one.
