Losing Captivate audio in Flash Export
Hi everyone,
>> I'm trying to export my CP project including audio
(voice recording) to a Flash MX project. Notice that my voice
recordings are often splitted between several slides, so that the
voice can run over several slides... No problem with Captivate, my
project runs fine. Troubles begin when I export the project to
Flash...
Here are my 2 problems :
The audio files (voice recordings)
are not imported in the Flash library.
Indeed, only the mouse clic sounds are exported... What's
weird about it is that once in while (let's say 1 on 10 attempts),
it works fine, and I can finally get all my audio tracks exported
to Flash.
When I finally get the import to work
fine with my audio tracks, it appears that Flash cannot handle the
multi "slide audio" (same audio recording running on several
slides), so it only plays half of a sentence for example...
Example
of swf generated from Captivate (working fine)
Example of
swf generated from Flash after Captivate export (audio is
cut)
Here are my 2 questions :
Why can't I
ALWAYS get a "clean" export ?
What's the matter with the recordings
running on several slides and not playing well in Flash ?
I guess I've checked all the points mentionned in the
following article
Exporting
your Adobe Captivate project to Flash , but found nothing that
solved my problems.
Softwares : Captivate 2, Flash MX2004
Link to my Captivate
test project (1.5Mo)
Any idea ? please...
:o)
Hello Mark,
I'm afraid this problem occurs with all my Captivate
projects.
I've submitted a bug last week but still got no answer...
I guess, I'm going to abandon the idea of importing Captivate
projects in Flash and work with another method : Design an HTML
player and just play the Captivate generated swf in it.
Here is an example :

Anyway, thanks for your help !
And if this is really a bug, I hope Adobe will fix it soon !

Unable to export from Captivate 4 to Flash CS4
Hello everyone!
I am attempting to export a captivate project over to flash CS4. However when it goes from captivate over to flash the result is basically a slide show. It does not show any of the animations that are present in Captivate. I also keep recieving an error message.
I have searched for how to solve this problem for quite a while now and so far have come up with nothing.
This is the error message that flash gives me:
The following elements in your project have not been converted. They are not supported by this importer.
508 Compliance
A swf animation slide has been imported. The following files must be made available at publish time:
Project01_slide_22_0.swf
DefaultPreloader.swf
Please make sure you publish the project to “C:\Documents and Settings\jmillard\Desktop.” Saving the project to this directory will ensure that test project will work with the swf animation slides.
Unfortunately I am on a tight schedule to get this project done and the Captivate 4 and Flash CS4 I am using are both 30 day trials, so I am in quite a hurry.
If you could please help me I'd greately appreciate it!When you click on <Send Book to Blurb> a dialog should come up that asks for your ID and password for your Blurb account. I don't know if Blurb ships to Norway - you probably can find out at the Blurb website. But I don't think that this is the problem here since you also cannot export a PDF or JPGs.
I don't know of any specifics why this is not possible for you but it's worth trying to replace the Preference File.
This file can go "funny" and is then responsible for all kinds of strange behavior of Lr. The remedy is replacing the Preference File.
BTW: Re-installing Lr or updating / upgrading Lr does not replace the Preference File since it is designed to "survive" upgrades.
See here for where to find the Preference file for your OS: http://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/preference-file-locations-lightroo m-4.html

Exporting a Captivate Movie into Flash 8
I am trying to export my Captivate movie using Flash Pro 8,
but I keep getting the "message" I can only export if I had Flash
MX 2004 installed. Is there a way around this????Hi mindtube and welcome to our community
I am inferring from your question that you may think Adobe
employees are monitoring this forum. While we might see one or two
pop in here and there, by and large this is a total "user-to-user"
community. I'm a Captivate user same as you. So you might want to
post your question to support using the link at the bottom of this
page. Either that, or via the WishForm linked below:

Error when Exporting quizzes from Captivate 2 to Flash 8!
Here is the error that I get when trying to Export quizzes
from Captivate 2 to Flash 8.
"An internal Adobe Captivate error (bad argument) occured. If
you have any questions please contact Adobe Technical Support."
I've noticed that this only happens if there are quizzes in
the project. I have tried everything that Adobe FAQ's and TechNotes
had to offer.
They said that the CP file could be corrupt. If that's the
case, Every file that I create with a quiz is corrupt. I have just
upgraded from Flash MX to Studio 8 and just bought the new version
of Captivate 2. These were both downloaded via try/buy.
If anyone is familliar with this problem, any suggestions
would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!Answering my own question.....Received this fix:
I think that I know what you did. When you had Captive 1 you
changed a dll file in order for it to work with Flash 8. They
forgot to mention that if you did this fix back in 1.0 that it
would corrupt the process in 2.0.
Go here:
C:\Documents and Settings\<UserID>\Local
Settings\Application Data\Macromedia\Flash
8\en\Configuration\Importers
Make sure this is the only file in there: RDMFISTUB8.DLL
That should solve your problem. -
Export from Captivate 3 to Flash CS3
I followed directions located in Adobe Captivate 3's help
menu about exporting to Flash CS3. I have tried both exporting from
Captivate and Importing from Flash to move my captivate project
into flash. About 5 times, an error saying "Unknown error" had
occurred popped up. I closed Flash and Captivate a couple times and
then it worked. Several new errors popped up during the
"successful" import---worse yet, the captivate project imported
terribly! Pieces of the demonstration were all over the stage.
Long story short, something is wrong. Is this a Vista thing?
Does anyone know about any of this?>I followed directions located in Adobe Captivate 3's help

Doesn't seem to be specific to Vista.
I've had similar issues trying to export to Flash. But
sometimes it seems to
work beautifully (although always with an error message about
"unable to
find Flash.exe" or similar), aside from in issue with the
backgrounds all
importing to Flash at the wrong size. This is easily worked
around, and has
been discussed here a number of times.
My first suggestion to you is to try rebooting your machine
before trying to
export again.

Captivate 7 SWF fails, flash export fails
Hi there,
I have recently installed Captivate 7 and an urgent project for a client that is generating bad SWF files and also fails on export to Flash 6 or CC. HTML5 published files works fine
OSX Maverics, MBA 2012 (8 GB / 512GB). Installed on machine is Adobe CC, CS6.5 etc..
Steps so far :
- resinstalled flash player
- reinstalled captivate
-changed various settings in captivate for publishing
Removed security from firefox/safari/chrome
Adjusted flash player security (and added local file player paths to exclusions)
Adjust Java settings to prompt only
Puublished to active www - still fails
Any ideas ?? I'm all out apart from wiping machine and starting again!
Thanks
MPHTook a little while to fix - however, after some kind and thorough troubleshooting with Anurag at Adobe, we identified this as a permissions issue. I suspect this has something to do with my Mac account having numerous versions of Adobe and/or MS Word accumulated.
Solution:
uninstall both Captivate 7 and MS Word MAC 2011 (v.14.3.8)
Download and run the cs5 Cleaner utility:
http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/ cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html
3. Log in using the root admin (possibly any admin), and re-installing both apps
4. First open MS Word and Captivate, then re-run export. -
Add Multi-Audio Track Ability to Flash Export
When authoring DVDs and Blu-ray disks we have options to add alternate audio tracks which the user can select on the fly or we can add menu options for their selection. This ability is absent in flash exports from CS3.
Hi
Not in iMovie as standard (only two alt. - Pic in Pic or Side by Side)
Work around:
• Create the MultiClip in QuickTime Player Pro - and import this - or -
• Create first Pic in Pick as a new iMovie project
- Export this as a full quality QT.mov
- Import this into a New Project
- Add one more Pic
- Export / Import / Add - and so om
• Use FinalCut Pro instead - all things like this is so much easier

Hello!
I did some captures (242 slides) but when I export the slides
to a Flash file, and when I read this file, it is very slow! For
instance, I can't see the animations completely, and the mouse
movements are jerky.
I tried to watch the project on a more powerful computer, but
it's also very slow. Is my project too big? (98,8 Mo and 8,95 Mo
for the Flash file).
What can I do? I already resized it to 640x480. I still have
to add some audio commentaries and I fear it might slow the project
again. Thanks for your help!Hello ameloche35,
Whilst it would be impossible for me analyze this without
taking look at your source Captivate 2 file, I would suggest that
you take a look at
Exporting
your Adobe Captivate 2 to Flash article. I have to be honest
and say that having 242 slides won't help. I would try looking for
any redundant or slides you can get rid of and see if that makes
any difference.
Tip: In Adobe Captivate 2 you can remove all unused items by
showing the Library panel, clicking on the select unused items
button on the Library tool bar and then clicking the delete button.

Captivate 3 and Flash CS3 under Vista 64
Hello,
I'm having a problem with using Adobe Captivate 3 and Adobe Flash CS3 in tandem to get my Captivate project in a file format accepted by online video sharing sites such as YouTube. Since Captivate 3 does not have an option to export to .avi or any other accepted movie file format, I thought that I would export the Captivate project to Flash, and then export it to the avi file format through Flash. However, whenever I select "File>Export>Project To>Flash CS3," I get the following error in Flash:
quote:
The import did not finish because an unknown error occurred
I could not find any resources that pertained to my particular problem. I am using Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit, with a different directory structure than XP. In the Adobe Developer Center article " Exporting your Adobe Captivate project to Flash," it references a certain "RDMFISTUB.DLL" file that I cannot locate on my system. Could this problem be caused by incompatibilities with Vista?
My end goal is to post a Captivate project comprised of mostly full-motion recording to YouTube. If there is another way to do this that doesn't involve installing any 3rd-party software, I'm open to that as well.
Thank youYou said...

The much bigger obstacle is that when I export a Captivate
project that incorporates full-motion recordings with static slides
displaying a text caption to Flash and then to .mov, I lose the
full-motion recordings: they are replaced with a blank white or
black screen (whatever the background color is set to be). The
audio is gone too. I don't know what is causing this, but I would
really appreciate any help you could lend me concerning this.
I don't have a solution -
maybe someone else here does - but would offer an
observation ...
Keeping in mind that I avoid monkeying with my own Captivate
projects in Flash because of the various inconsistencie, some of
which you have seen ... I am hopeful that the Captivate team does
something to address the handling of full-motion slides. We all
know that they are created as AVI clips which are then converted to
SWF as separate slides, so it seems logical to me that there must
be a way to offer the source, that is, the AVI or a FLA either of
which would then be handled separately inside Flash (for those who
like to do their tinkering in that environment).
In the meantime, you might try to change the timing of the
(errant) full-motion slide a bit. Like, perhaps add or subtract a
tenth of a second to it or otherwise change its properties so that
the import doesn't end up as a blank. Just thinking out loud in
trouble-shooting mode... come to think of it, when the project is
published to SWF/HTM, each full-motion slide is published as a
separate SWF file. Would it be possible to publish the project,
then try to bring that SWF back into Captivate as an animation?
It's late here and I'm getting into fuzzy-thinking time, so if that
doesn't make sense, it wouldn't surprise me. -
I have .swf files with closed captioning that are
incorporated into a flash mx menu. The closed captioning text does
not display (the bar displays) when played in the flash menu
(neither do the tool tips on the nav bar).
Any ideas/suggestions?You said...

How do I import Captivate 4 into Flash CS5?
I am not a Flash expert obviously. I am trying to import my captivates into Flash and get an error message that the file was not imported because it could not be read. Can anyone help?
Hello,
Normally you can export the Captivate file to Flash from the File menu, but I'm not sure it will work between 2 different versions: 4 for Captivate and CS5 for Flash?

Keynote 08 Flash Export not compatible with Adobe Acrobat Connect Pro
Hello
Our company uses Keynote extensively for presentations. We also give presentations online using Adobe Acrobat Connect Professional (hosted, formerly known as Macromedia Breeze - <http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobatconnectpro/>). Where as it's a great environment for online seminars (best I've seen), it fails dramatically when you upload a looping Flash file created in Keynote. I first tried this in Keynote '06 and now in '08.
When I tried in Keynote 06, the animation was three slides looping, synced to an audio track. When I tried in '08, it was one slide with (the new) animations looping over 20 seconds (or so) without a soundtrack.
I have some contact with Adobe, and this issue has been sent to their engineering department, but they seem to think there's something funky about the format of the file that Keynote exports. I'm trying to gather more data for them to investigate with.
Does anyone know what version of Flash Apple's export is most like? Do we have any specs on the file export format?
Has anyone tried using Flash exports in other Flash-using online environments?
Thanks!
~brianI believe I figured it was somewhere between Flash 5 and Flash 6. I say this because while the resulting presentations could be opened in QuickTime (which only uses Flash 5) a better result would be achieved by viewing in the browser. Either that, or QuickTime's Flash 5 support isn't complete.

"Last slide viewed" hyperlink in Flash export
Just trying out using Keynote as a change from Microsoft PPT, particularly for the Flash export feature (as well as the lovely design features of course).
I am going to get around the lack of a Play Audio "Action Setting" by having the audio segment on a separate, self-contained slide at the end of a document. On this self-contained slide I have put a "back" button hyperlinked to "Last slide viewed". However upon export to Flash, this function doesn't work, and hangs the entire presentation.
Can anyone confirm if this is a known bug?I wouldn't call it a bug, more like something Apple just didn't implement. I mean, I have to wonder how hard it would have been to write a flash file that itself (not Keynote) tracks where the viewer is and remembers their last "slide"
Personally, I think the flash export on Keynote should NOT be one of its selling points. If you need a serious flash movie, it's best to just use flash. -
Can drag and drop interactions created in Captivate 6.1 be exported to HTML5?
I need to convert some Flash drag and drop interactions to HTML5 and I'm looking at Captivate and Storyline.
Can drag and drop interactions created in Captivate 6.1 be exported to HTML5?
(I tried Captivate 6 with the drag and drop widget and that didn't work, and I can't find a trial version of 6.1).

I've just chatted to Adobe support and they have told me there is no educational discount for subscription I coudn't find the info on the website, so if anyone is interested, subscription is $29.99/month or $19.99/month if you sign up for a year.
