Losing connection to new hp officejet 6600 printer

I keep losing this connection.  When you press print it just says looking for printer. It took me ages to get it to appear on the print and scan screen and here it just says printer idle.  help please.  I am a novice with macs!

The printer is under warranty. If it doesn't work, you should first contact the manufacturer for support, and if that doesn't lead to a solution, return it.

Hi @kennyboundsmsn , and welcome to the HP Forums!
I see you're looking to scan. I would like to help!
Before we start, I have a few questions:
What happens when you try to scan?
    Do you receive any errors?
Are you able to make a copy?
Are you connected wireless or USB?

  • Brand New HP Officejet 4632 printer with new cartridges. Black ink showing empty

I just bought a brand new HP Officejet 4632 printer and as soon as I put in the ink cartridges that came with the printer it said printing in single cartridge mode and the black ink shows empty. I haven't even used the printer yet and it already shows empty. What do I do?

    Hello bobboman11,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having an issue with the ink cartridges in your new printer.
Please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
Take the ink out of the printer and with a lint free cloth and some bottled water, lightly dampen the cloth and clean the metal contacts on the cartridges and the contacts on the carriage.  Make sure every thing is dry and make sure that the protective cover is completely off of the ink.  Insert the ink in to the printer and attempt a test print.
If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your issue, I would then suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you. If you are calling within North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions, click here: click here.
    Thanks for your time.

  • New HP Officejet 6600 won't scan to MacBook Air

I bought new HP 6600, downloaded all the drivers set it up and it worked perfectly - for one week.  I've now uninstalled and reinstalled drivers.  My MacBook Air sees the printer and I watch it scan and see the text on my computer screen, but not saved in folder or in my Finder window?

Hello @dbvancouver   and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you are experiencing scan issues.  I would like to help.
I would suggest deleting the printer from your print system, using this document: Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Once you have deleted it, I would suggest verifying and repairing the disk permissions: About Disk Utility's Repair Disk Permissions feature.
I would also suggest running your Apple updates:  OS X: Updating OS X and Mac App Store apps
After the updates, I would recommend reinstalling the HP Officejet 6600 e-All-in-One Printer - H711a/H711g Drivers.

  • New (Refurbished) OfficeJet 4620 printing red instead of black

Like the subject says... Recently purchased, refurbished OfficeJet 4620.  Fresh cartridges, tried cleaning the printhead, and all the connections/settings and suggestions found on http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&docname=c03137135 to try to fix it... still can't figure it out...

    Hi JD8,
    Welcome to the HP Forums
I understand you have an Officejet 4620 that is printing red instead of black. I'd be happy to help you resolve this, I just need to gather a bit more information!
Is this happening when printing just from the printer as well as the computer? To test this, if you're not sure, please print this Network Configuration Page as it is supposed to print out entirely in black.
If that works fine, and it only seems to be happening from your computer, would you be able to tell me which version of Windows or Mac you're working with, as well as how the printer is connected to said computer?
If it also prints in the red as opposed to black, please have a look through this Printer Does Not Print Black Ink or Color Ink, or Prints Blank Pages and hopefully these steps are of help to you.
Hope this helps, have a great day!!

  • Unable to connect to HP Officejet 6600 after printer enters sleep mode

    Actiontec MI424WR wireless router
    HP Officejet 660
Dell XPS 8300 (Windows 7, Windows Firewall, Microsoft Security Essentials)
    IP Address range: 192.168.1.x
Printer is assigned static IP address
The HP Officejet 6600 printer is easy to set up and works great...for about 15 minutes.  Then the printer goes to sleep and the wireless connection dies.  Repeatedly.  I am never able to restore the wireless connection without rebooting the printer, computer AND the router.  I've been dealing with this issue off and on since I purchased the printer four months ago.
I can see from forums that I am not the only one with this issue.  What I can't see (anywhere) is a solid fix for the issue.
    I can tell you:
    1.  It's NOT the windows firewall.  I've tried it with the firewall on and the firewall off.
    2.  It's NOT the antivirus software.  I've tried it with the service running and the service stopped.
    3.  It doesn't matter whether the IP address is statically assigned or assigned with a DHCP reservation (though you do need to do one or the other)
    4.  Adding an ARP static entry helped a little bit to get rid of the "Host reports destination unreachable".
    5.  It doesn't matter whether the Bonjour service is running or not.
    6.  It doesn't matter whether the printer is configured for wireless direct printing or not.
    7.  I updated to the most recent firmware for the printer: that didn't help.
    8.  I'm positive that the printer is connected to the wireless router correctly.
I ran telnet from my pc to the printer (on port 80) and received no response.  I can only conclude that somehow, there's a service that's supposed to be running on the printer that has died or that fails to register properly with the router.
Right now, I'm back to a direct connection between the printer and the computer (usb cable).  Which means I can only print from the one device.
I have no intention of purchasing another HP product any time soon.  I'll be sure to go out of my way to find knock-off cartridges as well.
    Ugh.

Just to verify, what is the DHCP range in the router?  Starting and ending addresses?  What is the printer static IP at?
Say thanks by clicking the Kudos Thumbs Up to the right in the post.

  • HP officejet 6600 connected to wifi but no ping

Hi we have an officejet 6600 printer installed with the latest firmware. Since last weekend we cannot ping the printer any more. Not from mac (without firewall software) nor from pc. The printer is connected to the wireless network. Het gets an IP address from DHCP, but cannot be pinged.
Unplugging power cables and restarting doesn't help. Only the HP print and scan software detects the printer on the network. Connecting to it with the standard software of the firmware installer doesn't work.
Can you help me with resolving this problem ?

Can you open the printer's EWS in a browser?  Type the printer's IP into a browser and see if the printer page comes up.  (if you are using IE you must prefix the IP address with http://).  The printer and scan doctor will sometimes find the driver of the printer and show that in the enumeration list.  That doesn't necessarily mean it found the printer connected to the network.  Did you get to the "Fix Printing" "Fix Scanning" screen with the Print and Scan Doctor?  If not, then the printer is probably not connected to the network.

  • Removing ink cartridge from HP office jet 6600 printer

I replaced all four ink cartridges in my HP Officejet 6600 printer (almost new) and now I can't get the black cartridge out.  The original cartrige was a 932 and I replaced it with a 932XL so it is larger than the original one.  It seems to be jammed in the machine.
Has anyone else had that problem?
I don't like this printer at all.  It doesn't seem to stay connected (it's a wireless) and prints terrible colored pictures.

    Hi janius,
I am sorry to hear that you have had such difficulty with this printer. I suggest contacting phone support. Hp printers come with a 1 year manufacture warranty, and from the sounds of it you have had the printer for a short period of time. Even if the printer is out of warranty, it is still worth calling as HP will have in and out of warranty options.
The number to call HP is 1-800-474-6836 for Canada and US, or you can Contact HP Worldwide.
