Losing Date Information Upon Import

I have movie files in both iPhoto and on DVD that I can import into iMovie - but then said clips show up in Events as having been "Created" at the time of import - not the date/time the video clip was actually taken.
The information is in the file to begin - In both iPhoto and the files on the DVD, the correct date is shown (under Information).
Am I doing something wrong? How can I get the video clips to show their true date/time after I've imported them to iMovie?
Cheers~~

When I import into iMovie 11, it makes a new file. I guess it's transcoding it or something. The new files are usually 4x bigger then the original:). Since this is a new file, iMovie isn't smart enough to keep the create date. I'd like to see an AppleScript that could rename them into "clip-yyyy-mm-dd hh;mm;ss.ext" format before they are imported.

  • Some images are not given date folders upon import

I have the date chosen as an import preference and most of the time the images are placed into the dated subfolder.  However, not all of the time.  I recently imported 331 photos with 12 dates of photos.  First, none of the photos were put into the correct subfolders - they remained in the "My Lightroom Photos" folder.  So I reimported them and 8 of the 12 subfolders were set up; the others remained in the "My Lightroom Photos" folder.  I tried a third import and the message was that all of the images had already been imported.  I tried setting up new subfolders and moving the images to the new subfolders that did not work.  Any thoughts?

Thanks, but I am not sure how to do that.  Do I have to select all of the photos that need folders first? and then do what?
What also seems to have happened is that I did not import a lot of metadata - histograms, etc.for the images that did not go to the subfolders.  Sorry - I am new to Lightroom and it is daunting at this point.

  • How to reset without losing data?

    LS,
Is there a way to reset my iPhone (through itunes or other) that will prevent me from losing data?
    Situation:
I have an iPhone 3G with ios4. Saturday night my phone acted weird, it would lock the screen every few seconds without me promting it (automatic screen lock is off).
To reset the phone I pressed the home button and the on/off button simultamiously. Instead of simply resetting it stuck on the Aplle logo.
Trying to get it going again, it went out.
Since than whenever I try to switch the phone on, it asks for a reset through iTunes (picture of usb + itunes in screen).
Since I have not been able to synchronise the phone for a few weeks, I was wondering if there is a workaround to prevend loss of data (for instance the recent photo's).
I sincerely hope there is a workaround.
    Cheers

Well, if you have a backup, that will save your text messages, settings, camera roll etc.
Not the music, photos, videos, contact etc.
So there is a way to restore without losing most of the important information. Since the music, videos and others are theoetically on your Mac/PC.

It's a little tricky to move data from one iCloud account to another but it can be done. But what makes you think you have 2 iCloud accounts.

  • Manually-entered date information doesn't stay with photos outside iPhoto

    Hello--
I'm having problems trying to share the date information I've manually added in iPhoto to all my scanned photos.
I understand because they are scanned photos they are really new files where the image creation date is the day they were scanned. However, why is it that I can export the title, keywords, and location information of any of these scanned photos but not the date information that iPhoto is storing and using to sort the photos by date?
I've tried exporting the photos to iDisk, sharing via e-mail with the title, keyword, and location information, and downloading specialized EXIF viewers (now understanding that a scanned photo isn't really going to have any EXIF data like a digital camera photo would). The only place external from iPhoto that I seem to be able to view the date information I've added to the scanned photos is in my MobileMe Web Gallery (but not when uploaded to a family member's Web Gallery), but only when selecting the "Show Detailed Info..." menu item after opening a photo...this date info does not come along when I download the photo from my own Web Gallery.
I've also tried changing the date on these scanned photos using the Batch Change... menu item with no resulting change over setting the date in the information area for the photo (I still only see the date I've set in iPhoto or in my Web Gallery).
My ultimate goal is to send many scanned photos with titles, keywords, and date information to a family member also using a Mac to build a slideshow with photos from several of us all sorted properly by date. Right now we're unable to figure out how to do that. Entering the date information into the description field allows that textual data to come along when I share via e-mail, but it doesn't solve the problem of allowing other people to sort automatically by date with a larger set of photos without them having to transcribe that textual date info into the date field in the information area of the photo.
Thank you very much in advance for any specific instructions on making this work! This is getting quite frustrating at how something so seemingly simple and valuable is turning out to be so difficult to figure out.

    audio capture/auto ID3 tagging
What do you mean by this?
On the Windows machine I have an app called 'Spin it Again'
I use it for Vinyl and analogue tape capture for stuff that I could not fford to go out and buy new ( if even now available).
All I have to do is put in artist name and title and it finds from online database (Gracenote plus others) , it analysis the audio and automatically splits the single capture in to individual tracks, saving the track names to each track, it uses recorded track length and database info to to comfirm/database naming. It also has basic audio filtering/crackle/hiss removal, audio cleanup options all in one package.
I have yet to find anything that does the same job on the Mac,
iTunes will auto tag tracks from an online database.
The iTunes store database is very limited and does not have much of the older stuff. Plus I have always used FLAC format as my 'archive store' for all my audio, so ripping with iTunes is out For CD's I use EAC with Accurate rip to rip them and that also uses an online database with much greater range than iStore.
    Have you searched on MacUpdate?
To an extent, and Garmin are now producing some better software for mac for their GPS units. But still nothing much in the Freeware world yet. I have tried a few apps for GPS over the last year (yes I have had a Mac for almost a year now) but still found nothing that has all the functions that I am used to on the Windows machine, and as I still have the Xp machine set up next to the mac , all on the same screens, then there is no difficulty in swapping machines. It is not of that great an importance that I am going to spend too much time on searching for Mac apps..something will turn up in time...as Name Mangler has done. I spend too much time on these bloody machines as it is...it is now 1210...and I have been on here since 0800...I had planned to go down the farm and do some work down there this morning...another morning gone and nothing real to show for it.

  • ITunes 10.5.3 corrupting MP3's upon import?

I recently upgraded to iTunes 10.5.3 and have added a few MP3 albums since the update.
Various tracks are being corrupted when imported. I have previewed the songs using Finder prior to importing them in iTunes and they play absolutely fine however once added to iTunes they begin to skip and corrupt, especially towards the end of every song. I have checked albums imported prior to the update and they are not affected, it's only new albums I have added since the update.
Has anyone else encountered this? As I say, the files themselves are fine before being added to iTunes but they skip and suddenly cut off before the end of the song when added to the library.
Any advice or help will be really welcome.
EDIT: The songs which are corrupt upon import all fail at approximately 40 seconds before the end of the song, no matter how long the track is.

I do not believe the poster's update to Lion had anything to do with fixing the problem. What fixed their problem was the fact that they re-downloaded the file, not that they updated their OS. I continue to have this problem sporadically with iTunes Match, and my OS and iTunes are fully updated (AND I'm on a fast wired connection via Cable modem, not WiFi).
I've had and continue to have this problem of a small number of songs getting downloaded corrupt when updatings songs via iTunes Match.
Deleting and re-downloading from iTunes Match is the only solution I have found for the problem as I am having it: the songs ARE corrupted for me, and it's not just a metadata problem. When I open the songs in an audio editing program you can see that the audio just isn't there: the data stops before the end of the song (somewhere between 50% and 70% through the piece, usually). So copying it to another computer or re-importing it won't fix anything.
The problem is that iTunes doesn't KNOW which of the songs I've matched-then-downloaded via iTunes Match are bad, and I won't know either until I happen to play one that skips before it ends.
Here's the only solution I've found that will inspect these songs one at a time and list the bad ones:
Create a Playlist of all songs you've downloaded (upgraded) via iTunes Match.
Plug in an iPod (etc.) and wipe out whatever songs are on it already.
In the iTunes setting for that iOS device, tell it to recompress the songs to 128k AAC as it puts the songs onto the iOS device.
Now sync that entire Playlist to the device and wait.
Result: all songs that cannot be down-converted by iTunes to 128k AAC (because the song data is bad) will be listed in the resulting error dialog.
Here's the total suck part: iTunes doesn't let you save that list of errors off to a text file. You have to do one or more screen captures and save off the list, then manually go find those songs, delete them and re-download them from iTunes Match. Total PIA but it's the best I have come up with, since I can find no other utility or means to batch-check that these files are valid.

  • Data Loader - Only imports first record; remaining records fail

I'm trying to use Data Loader to import a group of opportunities. Everytime I run the Data Loader it only imports the first record. All the other records fail with the message "An unexpected error occurred during the import of the following row: 'External Unique Id: xxxxxxx'". After running the Data Loader, I can modify the Data file and remove the first record that was imported. By running the Data Loader again, the first row (previously the second row) will import successfully.
Any idea what could be causing this behavior?

W need a LOT more information, starting with the OS, and the version of ID, including any applied patches.
Next we need to know if you are doing a single record per page or multiple records, whether the placeholders are on the master page, how many pages are in the document and if they all have fields on them (some screen captures might be useful -- embed them using the camera icon on the editing toolbar on the webpage rather than attaching, if it works [there seem to be some issues at the moment, though only for some people]).
What else is on the page? Are you really telling it to merge all the records, or just one?
You get the idea... Full description of what youhave, what you are doing, and what you get instead of what you expect.

  • Brief about Console, data manager and Import manager

    Hi,
Iam new to MDM we just started installing our MDM components and iam a MM functional guy Can you any one tell me about console, data manager and import manger i need to know the following,
    1. what is it
    2. How the 3 is interlinked
    3. can the data manager be loaded directly without a import
    4. is there a std way of creating repository
    5. I need to do samples on vendor, customer harmonisation and the spend analysis and matl master harmonisation..
Iam asking too much in this forum but i knw you guys are there to help me out.
    Thanks in advance,
    Suresh

    MDM Console
The MDM Console allows the system manager to administer and monitor the MDM Server, and to create, maintain the structure of, and control access to the MDM repositories themselves. Records are not entered or managed with the MDM Console, but rather with client apps such as the MDM Client.
    MDM Client(data manager)
The MDM Client is the primary client of the MDM Server, and is the program most users see on their PCs. It allows users to store, manage and update master data consisting of text, images, and other rich content, and to create taxonomies, families, and relationships. Other clients include the Import Manager, the Image Manager, and the Syndicator.
    Import Manager
Allows you to import master data from most types of flat or relational electronic
source files (e.g. Excel, delimited text, SQL, XML, and any ODBC-compliant source),
and to restructure, cleanse, and normalize master data as part of the import process.
    <i>2. How the 3 is interlinked</i>
    --->
Suppose you are sending vendor information to MDM repository be sending IDOC from R/3. Then the whole process can go as... IDOC will be sent to XI, so XI will generate XML file that contains data. Then import manager can import this file and will so place the data in repository.
Now if you want to send data in MDM repository, the process goes reverse way. Syndicator will generate flat/xml file. This file will be given to XI so that XI will generate IDOC out of it and will send it to XI. This whole process ensures data consistancy

I am getting mixed information in Garageband documentation:
    1) GB will convert MP3s to AIFF upon import
    2) Compressed files remain compressed when imported into GB
    Which is the case?
    Thanks

    Main Help Page
    Index
    Importing audio files
You can import audio files into a project. You can import any of the following file formats:
    AIFF
    WAV (including Sony ACID files)
    AAC (except protected AAC files)
    Apple Lossless
    MP3
Compressed audio files you import into a project remain compressed, saving space and time.

  • Clarification required on the Sales area data information.

    Hi Master's,

There is no need of any confusion here
All the tabs and data or fields pertains sold to party only
If for a sold to party say 1001 if he himself is going to be SH and PY and BP then there is no confusion
If  for a sold to party say 1001 the ship to party is 1002 and PY is 1003 and bill to party is himself that is 1001
This is what mentioned  or assigned in the partner functions of CMR of 1001 in the sales area data
This means there are another CMR lies in the name of 1002 and 1003
Whenever an order comes for 1001 as Sold to party for tax classifications the ship to paty 1002's master record is accessed by the system
System accesses another record for a particular detail (tax details)
Similarly for this customer 1001's order for payment terms 1003's CMR is accessed by the system
System accesses another record for a particular detail ( for terms of payment)
There is no need for any confusion and if you run this in the system with different data you will understand it much better

  • How to avoid losing data when communicate with high speed motor?

I connect with high speed servo motor via RS232. To avoid losing data. i thought to set receive buffer, only read the buffer if it collected all bytes. Is this possible?

    Hi,
If you know the number of bytes you are trying to read, you can set a viRead call to return information once the particular number of bytes have been read.  For more information on this, take a look at the KnowledgeBase article on a Serial VISA Read to read a requested number of bytes.
Even if you read before all bytes have been collected, you should not lose data.  When the specified number of bytes are stored in the buffer, the viRead call will send the information to the program, and new data coming in will be stored in the buffer until the byte count is reached again.
    I hope this helps,
