Losing events on iCal after syncing

Hello.
I'm having some really frustrating problems with my iCal events. I keep losing them after syncing my iPhone to iCal on my iMac. If I put a date into my iPhone and later sync it to my computer, sometimes it works. However, after other subsequent syncs, I end up losing quite a few events. I have no idea why. I have my settings in iTunes to automatically sync when I plug in my iPhone. Aren't I supposed to be able to add events via my iPhone and have them sync properly to my computer and vice versa? Is something wrong with my settings? Please help! Thank you!

I am having similar problems and no one at Apple seems to be able to help. When my calendars sync, they change the time of the appts. It is driving me nuts as I rely on my calendar for work appts. It doesn't seem to matter where I enter the appt, Iphone or on Mac, they are still changed. I've missed appts because of this.

  • Events not showing in iCal after sync with iPhone

A whole week of appointments don't show up in iCal after syncing with my iPhone - all the appointments are on my iPhone but they won't copy over.
Funnily enough, the week that is not showing up is changing every Monday...
    Anyone seen this before?

I found this solution in another discussion. It's from this website: http://iphonewriter.blogspot.co.nz/2008/05/how-to-fixing-ical-iphone-sync-issues .html)
"You'll know the syncing issue when you see it, because the new events you enter into the Calendar on your Apple iPhone will not appear in iCal. Said another way, you'll enter a new event into your iPhone, use iTunes to sync with your Mac (or MacBook in our case) and the new event on your iPhone will not show up in iCal. Keep trying, synch as you might, iCal and the Apple iPhone just won't get along.
Here's the down and dirty fix:
Open iCal and backup or export your entries. Make a note of the fie name and location, you're going to need them in a minute. Once your backup/export is completed, close the iCal application.
Open Finder and remove everything inside the "Username/Library/Calendars" folder. For instance, if your username is "Joe", then move everything inside the "Joe/Library/Calendars" folder.
Open the iSync application. It's located in the "/Applications/" folder. Once iSync is opened, go into the iSync Preferences (iSync -> Preferences) and push/click the "Reset Sync History" button. Then, close the iSync application.
Re-Open the iCal application and Restore your calendar. When prompted, use your notes from Step #1 to select the file your created earlier.
At this point all my appointments were showing up properly in iCal, and did not disappear after syncing again with the iPhone.

events on ical not sync to iphone

    Hey mikefromstratford,
I'd read through the following article about iCal to double check the syncing process. There are two main ways to sync your iCal events onto your iPhone, so depending on which one you use you'll want to check out either the "Set up your iCloud calendar account for use with iCal" or "Sync your calendars with iPhone, iPod, or iPad" sections:
Mac Basics: iCal (OS X Lion and earlier)

  • Duplicated events on iCal after .mac sync

    Thre facts:
    I have a TREO600, a desktop mac, and a powerbook, both running Tiger 10.4.4.
Due to some other problems with syncing the TREO, I have purchased the Missing Sync from MarkSpace, and that works very well to sync the palm with the desktop.
I started syncing my two computers with .mac lately, and I have nothing but trouble. Nearly every sync throws up some conflicts, often about events that have long passed. I went through the long list of conflicts EVERY time this happens, but iSync seems to complain about new conflict nearly everytime I sync.
Moreover, it seems to duplicate certain (but not all) events on my iCal after it has synced with .mac.
This is super annoying. I have seen that there are many different posts on duplication already, but none of them seem to match my problem, though there definetly seems to be a general problem with iSync not being very good at checking for duplicates.
Any ideas how to solve this?
    thanks,
    marc

Because you are running the Missing Sync for Palm OS in a Mac OS X 10.4 or later environment, the synchronization of your data is a separate process controlled by .Mac Sync. In order to correct the issue, you should perform a reset, replacing all of the records on .Mac with the records from iCal and the Address Book, which should, incidently, be contemporaneous with your Treo 600 smartphone.
To do that, launch System Preferences and select the .Mac pane. Press the Advanced tab, then the Reset Sync Data… button in the lower left corner of the dialog box. Reserve the default directional data transfer from .Mac to your machine by pressing the right-facing arrow beneath the .Mac icon. This will shift directional flow so that data moves from your computer to the .Mac servers. You can keep the Replace: All Sync Data value in the drop-down menu above, or choose to synchronize only one data type [Calendars or Contacts] by selecting the appropriate value. If you synchronize them separately, you must repeat this process for the other data type.
This event will transfer a complete set of records from iCal and the Address Book to the appropriate storage locations on the .Mac servers, replacing the non-matching data currently stored there. It will not affect your continued use of the Mark/Space Contacts, Events and Tasks menu, and will not change the data stored on your handheld the next time you synchronize.

  • Sync seems to be playing up on my iMac itunes.  Events entered into Calendar on my iphone4 fail to appear in iCal after syncing via iTunes.  They must be there however because if I then sync iCal with my ipod via iTunes the missing events appear in Calend

Sync seems to be playing up when I sync my iPhone 4 with my iMac using iTunes.  Events entered into Calendar on my iPhone do not appear in Calendar on my mac after syncing.  They must be there however since if I then sync Calendar on the mac with iCal on my ipod they appear in calendar on my iPod.  Is it justa display problem or am I being a bit thick??!

I have the exact same problem as you (minus the coffee incident) where the phone just turned off. Tried everything you have too and now the above link is showing a 404 page... Can you help me out?

  • Mail not sending Event to iCal after upgrade

I did the same as everyone else and upgraded as soon as I saw the message to upgrade mobileme ical. Now when I try to create an event in iCal using a date in an email after clicking on "Add To iCal" the popup just freezes. I've quited and rebooted Mail as well as iCal and no luck.
Anyone else have this issue? Better yet, did anyone else find out how to fix it?
With 4 boys I rely on that convenience big time!
    Maria

The general approach at this time is to ask if you've checked for any problematic fonts (all languages) with Apple's Font Book (look in the Applications folder). Find and remove all duplicates also.
Start there to be sure all fonts that are in play come out with a clean bill of health.
Don't hesisate to perform wholesale deletion of old and/or little used fonts - be skeptical of anything that has come from Office 2008, including those related to an Equation Editor installation.
By all means be sure any 3rd party apps AND plug-ins are Snow Leopard compatible.
An additional measure is to clear the existing font caches:
    http://www.macworld.com/article/139383/2009/03/fontcacheclear.html
That said, 10.6.2 release notes have this to say about fonts:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3874
    Fonts fixes provided for:
    • an issue with font spacing
    • an issue in which some Fonts are missing
    • font duplication issues
    • an issue with some PostScript Type 1 fonts not working properly
    Good luck in any case.

  • Missing a calendar in iCal after syncing with MobileMe....

i am having some problems with iCal ...i am missing one my Calendars in iCal and wasn't sure how to get it back. I downloaded the calendars file and calendar.plist from my Time Machine backup...the missing calendar showed up at first, but it seemed to disappear right away (i assume after syncing with MobileMe.) Not sure what would be the easiest way to bring it back.......

It's possible to restore from Time Machine, though it's a slightly complicated process. Please follow very carefully the steps described here:

  • Imported events in iCal not syncing to iPhone

    Hello,
I am having trouble getting events on from iCal to appear in my iPhone.  I am using iCloud to sync events.
Here is the setup: I have a "work" calendar.  I added events to this calendar by exporting them from Outlook and importing them to iCal.  All the imported events appear in iCal and in the iCloud web interface.  However, when I sync with my iPhone, none of the imported events appear.  If I manually create an event in iCal, it appears on the phone and vice versa.
If I turn off iCloud calendars on the phone and sync using iTunes and the USB cable, all the imported events appear normally too.  So it's just wireless syncing where somehow the phone doesn't download the events that were imported.
Any suggestions?  I've tried turning iCloud off and on, deleting the calendars, and so on.
    I'm using iOs 5.1.1 and 10.8.2.

First check that all your settings are correct, that calendar syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the calendars you are using are in your 'iCloud' account and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud account (you can do this by clicking/tapping the calendar button in the top left corner of the application ), non iCloud calendars will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your calendars are in the iCloud account, you might try unchecking calendar syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling calendar syncing settings.

  • Duplicated events on iCal after moving to iCloud

Hi, i just updated mi iphone 4 to iOS5, then updated iTunes, then updated OSX Lion to 10.7.2, then moved to icloud...
Everything seems to be ok, but there's a problem: my events duplicated on iCal in my macbookpro...
    Every input has cloned itself!
But, when checking on icloud and on my iphone, no duplicates!
So... what should i do?, 'cause if i delete a duplicated event from iCal in my computer, leaving only one, the event erases at all in iCloud and in my iPhone...
    Weird.
    Any suggestions?
I appreciate your time, thank you!

Hi Jorge. I just went through this entire process. I was able to rid myself of duplicates, however, I am still trying to figure out how to match a hard copy to my Mac without creating duplicates.
    - Make sure you have your events on the Mac
    - Go to iCloud on phone and turn off iCloud on everything (for now). It will tell you it will delete everything off iCloud (this is fine if you have everything you need on your Mac).
    - Go into iTunes on Mac and "turn of Sync with this iPhone over Wi-fi" & check "back up to this computer"
-Go to info tab in iTunes on Mac. Check sync "contacts" & sync "calendars"
    - While you are in the info tab also check "calendars" & "contacts" in the Replace Information on This iPhone section under Advanced.
    - Synch
    - If everything matches up properly go back to iPhone and turn iCloud back on for what you want
    - Go to iCal on Mac and in the top left hand corner there is a "calendar" button that when you click it, it shows calendars for "On my Mac" and "iCloud".
    - You can delete the "On my Mac" calendars to rid yourself of the duplicates.
***This is how I did it. You may be able to just delete the "On my Mac" calendars but I am not sure if that will take them off of iCloud and your iPhone. You can give it a try first as it may be less time consuming.
So, my issue is still trying to figure out how to keep matching calendars as a backup on Mac without the duplicates. Any takers?

  • Outlook 2007 calendar events font changes after syncing with iTunes

I use Outlook 2007 on a Windows XP PC. I have no problems syncing Outlook calendar events with my iPhone 4 other than for one highly annoying detail. My default font in Outlook is set to Times New Roman 12 pt. Whenever I sync, all of my calendar events' text in Outlook is changed from Times New Roman 12 pt. to Calibri 11 pt., and sometimes more recently, to Arial 10 pt.
It's driving me nuts as I find Calibri to be hideous-looking. In addition to the font change, all other special formatting such as bold and italics are removed.
Has anyone experienced this before or know what's going on? Many thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

Has no one experienced this issue? I can't understand why this happening. It's been almost two months since I posted this.
To reiterate: After syncing with iTunes (the newest version), all custom text formatting in Outlook 2007 calendar events are changed to Calibri 11 point, and sometimes more recently, to Arial 10 point. My default font is set to Times New Roman 12 point.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • ICal events all deleted after syncing with computer

I synced my iPhone and iMac two days ago, and only this morning realized that ALL my events in my iPhone's iCal are now gone!! I've been keeping track of several important doctor's appointments, my child's school events, personal medical issues, etc and now they're all deleted. After checking, it seems SOME of the events from June were transferred onto the computer's iCal, but then "stopped" there and nothing else was copied. My phone and computer have synced successfully many times, always "sharing" information but never deleting! What's wrong? Can this information be recovered? In some cases, my phone was the only place this information was recorded, so now it's gone. Thanks everyone for your help!!!

    Hi there,
I'm having the exact same problem as described above, and I'm a little desperate to get my iCal entries back as well...
Concerning the question of whether I have a backup: I'm actually not sure, maybe you can tell me whether I do? The situation is the following:
I entered a (significant!) number of iCal entries on my iphone directly. The iphone, in turn, is being connected to my MB Pro at home, as well as my PC at work. Podcasts and such are updated from my PC, so I'm guessing that the PC is the primary iTunes linked to the phone. When I connected my iphone to the iTunes on my MB Pro, however, it asked whether I would like to synch as well. As I had a number of iCal entries on my MB Pro that I wanted to also see on my iphone, I agreed. It warned me (like many times before) that this would chance more than 5% of the iCal entries, but it never before had deleted any of them! When I checked again, all my direct iphone iCal-entries had disappeared.
I have Time Machine installed and made a backup of my MB Pro just a few days ago - I'm suspecting though, that if the iphone iCal entries are gone from the iphone, my MB Pro iCal did not remember any of them either, correct?
PLEASE, if someone could help explain this situation, I'd be incredibly grateful! I've never had it happen before that iCal (on either machine) deleted anything...
    Many thanks in advance!

  • Difference between iCal events & iPhone calendar after syncing

Events created on iMac iCal with a complex repeat (i.e every 2nd Tuesday of month) change their 'repeat' pattern on my sync'd iPhone calendar.
On the iMac calendar it continues to be correct but on my iPhone it now defaults to iPhone calendar's standard 'every month' repeat.
    Why the difference??

    I have this question too

  • Created events in iCal that synced to iPhone, but events now gone on MBP?

I spent an hour the other night creating a semesters worth of events in my iCal on my 2011 MBP which are now on my iPhone, but have vanished from my computers calendar.  I cant get the events back.  Any help?

now that im looking at it... basically everything is gone except for holidays on both my iphone and macbook.

  • Editing new Event in Ical after loading leopard

I loaded Leopard about a week ago and have been using my ical, with some newly learned skills,. However, last night when I added a new event, the window that used to pop up so I could input my data will not appear--double click and apple-E-- only give me a deselected ical window, like some other widow should have appeared, but it is not there. Help, PLEASE, this calendar runs my life and I am without it now!

Solved! Needed to check "Show All Day Events" in the View menu!

  • IMPRT "events" are empty after sync

when I synced my iPad 3rd generation with my iMac recently - the first time since purchasing the iPad 3rdG - a SECOND mystery annoyance cropped up (see below for link to the 1st ongoing annoyance).
Syncing my Photos, I select "Selected" events to sync.
    Those events are just dandy.
However, many of the "events" named ###IMPRT show on the iPad in the Events area, but they're completely empty.
I can't delete them from the iPad.
HOW do I clean things up? This is aggravating.

I've resynced my iPad with my computer, hoping that maybe these phantom, empty IMPRT "events" would disappear in the process, but no.
When I open Photos on my iPad and go to Events, among the IMPRT events folders, are dozens of empty folders, each labeled with a number  followed by IMPRT or with a date.
    I can't delete them.
I don't even care any more about WHY this is happening (I gave up trying to understand iCloud and Apple) I just want to know  WHAT CAN I DO? I would like to clean things up...the fact that Apple allows users so little control over things like this drives me crazy.
    Please help.
