Losing FaceTime

I try to update to the new 4.1 and it did not work. My iPhone 4G was stuck on the iTone logo. I managed to Kick it out of recovery mood and Had 4.0.2 agin . Then I sync my library , after that I lost the FaceTime and can not use Video calling .
Any help for this issue please.
Thank you

This sounds like something similar to https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3388112?start=105&tstart=0.
Try turning down the speak volume (System Preferences->Sound->Output->Output Volume)  or the microphone gain (System Preferences->Sound->Input->Input Volume). Do this on both sides of the call.

• Im having problems with my Kids facetime accounts that seem to be because they are both using my itunes and there are conflicts with multiple email addresses? Is it possible to now set the kids up with their own accounts without losing their apps etc

Hi All,
I have my kids using iTunes via thier ipods etc through my own account and this hase been the case for some time?
This has started to cause issues lately with imessaging and facetime, as there seems to be a limit on email addresses that can be associated with one account?
I wonder if I would be best off setting the kids up with their own accounts, but want to be able to do this without them losing their existing apps, music etc?
Is this possible, if so is there a simple process cos I can seem to find anything relating to this?
many thanks, Jim

Not going to happen the way you want it to.
When you add a gift card balance to the Apple ID, it's available for the Apple ID.
Probably best to create unique Apple ID's for each... this will also make things easier in the future as purchases are eternally tied to the Apple ID they were purchased with.

• Why does my iPad2 suddenly keep losing connection on facetime?

Why does my iPad2 suddenly keep losing connection on FaceTime and tries to constantly reconnect?

Does it happen anywhere that you use FaceTime or only in your home WiFi network? If it happens with your home network, have you tried power cycling your router? Unplug it for about 30 seconds and then plug it back in.
Turn WiFi off and on in the settings. Reset the network settings.
Have you tried any troubleshooting steps at all?

• Losing connection using facetime and wifi drops off. Why?

Try connecting on facetime and when i try it says connection lost and my wifi goes off for a few seconds then comes back on. I tryed turn facetime on and off and it works once. then i try it again and connection is lost and wifi does the same thing.

Yes, I went to settings and turned wifi off.  Thought at first I wasnt letting it set for a sec or two before shutting the iPad off.  so now I wait like a minute or two  before shutting the iPad down.  didnt  seem to help.  Tried  actually logging out of  facebook when I was  done with it,  worked for about  4 days, and now it has started  coming on and coming online again,,  I  went through my notifications and  shut things off,   Well  see if it works.  thank you.

• Keep losing connection when trying to use FaceTime

While trying to connect to friends using FaceTime, or when receiving an incoming FaceTime from friends my connection is abruptly lost. Wi-Fi connection is excellent ( Fibre Optic). Any response to where an start troubleshooting would be greatly appreciated.

See:
iOS: Troubleshooting FaceTime
It could also be due to an Apple problem since some other 4G users has reported similar FT problems

• Fix your FaceTime, Visual Voicemail, MMS, etc. without losing appdata!

I did NOT figure out this method, all credit to this guy on another forum, I'm just spreading the word because I know I had lots of trouble with this the past week. It's a kinda long process especially if you have a lot of stuff on your phone, but it's worth it if you want your phone working right. Just note, remember to backup your photos and videos because it won't work after this.
Ok guys, here it is another new fix that covers it all while maintaining your data. (CAUTION: Photos from the camera roll will not work after this method is complete so please back them up to the computer first. I'm not responsible if you lose your pictures.
This method is based off of dankirsh's SMS Restore method (Only fixes Cellular Data), loveturtle's Non-Corrupted APN Restore method (Only fixes Cellular Data), and my own unique concepts which seem to fix everything and keep data intact minus the photo roll.
Step 1:
Windows Users: Navigate to "X:\Users\User Name\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup"
Mac Users: Navigate to "~/Library/Application\ Support/MobileSync/Backup/"
NOTE: "X:" is the drive you installed Windows on and "User Name" is the name of your account on Windows.
Step 2:
Move all Backup files to another location to make sure the entire folder is empty.
Step 3:
Plug in your iPhone and perform a full backup.
Step 4:
After backup completes, disconnect the iPhone and copy the new folder under the backup directory to a separate location perferably named "Old" for ease of use.
Step 5:
After folder completes the copying delete it from the backup directory, NOT THE NEW LOCATION.
Step 6:
Plug in your iPhone and perform a full restore.
Step 7:
Upon completion of restore if iTunes asks to restore from a backup that you select a new configuration. While configuring the iPhone for new settings uncheck all sync boxes including Applications and Data. <-- (IMPORTANT)
Step 8:
Right click the iPhone and backup the iPhone.
Step 9:
Upon backup completion copy the new backup folder out of the previously mentioned location and copy it to a folder called "New".
Step 10:
Delete the backup that was recently created in the Backup folder.
Step 11:
Copy the backup located in the previously created "Old" folder to the Backup folder.
Step 12:
Upon completion of the copy go into the randomly named folder and delete a file named "8218978e4ab0a48035bb92653145a6be872ea858", then right click the iPhone in iTunes and select "Restore from Backup" and select "Ok" since this is the only backup in the folder.
Step 13:
Upon backup restoration completion let your iPhone sync itself with the computer and restore all of your applications. (At this point all is back to what it was like at the beginning of Step 1.)
Step 14:
After all of your Applications are synced navigate into the "New" folder and into the backup folder located inside of it, it will be named as a random string of numbers and letters.
Step 15:
Copy and overwrite the following files from the randomly named backup in the "New" folder to the "MobileSync\Backup\Randomly Named Backup" folder; "Manifest.mbdb", "Manifest.mbdx", and "Manifest.plist", they are located near the very bottom if sorted by name.
Step 16:
In iTunes right click the iPhone and "Restore Backup" once again since this is the only backup available, click ok.
Step 17:
iTunes will display an error and reboot the iPhone, this is normal.
Step 18:
Upon boot of the iPhone, check your Cellular Data, MMS, and VVM to verify all is working fine.
Step 19:
If all is working, delete any backup located in the "MobileSync" folder and perform a full backup again. As stated before, your camera roll will not work anymore for your old files. The files appear to be present on the iPhone but are corrupt and will be overwritten when a new photo is taken.
Enjoy your fully functioning iPhone once again and please keep your OLD backup files as I am not sure if the App Data will backup now. I will have to continue more testing with this.
FINAL NOTE: Resetting network settings did not break my iPhone after completing this method.
Update #1: Reports from a few users are indicating this method does work for the iPhone 4 and does fix Face Time. See post #68, #69, and #71 for more information.
THIS FIX ALSO WORKS FOR THE EXCHANGE SYNCING PROBLEM!!!
THANKS!!

• Macbook Air (mid-2011) Facetime HD Camera stops working after waking from sleep

Hi, for the past week or so (no more than a week), my computer has not been able to connect to my built-in camera. I have a mid-2011 Macbook Air (running version 10.7.5) and a Facetime HD Camera (version 6.46). I don't usually restart my computer unless I am having issues with it being slow or freezing and so usually just close the top of my laptop when I am sleeping or at work. When I wake my computer up and attempt to use Skype, Photobooth, or Facetime, I cannot connect to the camera. Restarting my computer fixes this issue but that's as far as I've gotten since I am not very tech savvy and do not want to do anything to jeopardize the data and documents stored on my Air (I'm in school so losing anything would be very stressful for me). I have gone into the System Information in my Utilities folder and my camera is listed under the USB tab but my computer refuses to connect unless I restart it.
Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

• My daughter and i use the same icloud account and apple account but now on my iphone and her ipod we have each others contacts.  i want to delete her contacts on my iphone without losing my contacts on my phone or her contacts on her ipod.  I

My daughter and i share the same Apple ID account and I cloud account but I just unwittingly merged them on my Iphone 5s.  Now i have all her contacts and my own.  I want to delete hers from my phone and stop from her receiving my emails and my contacts.  Can i fix both problems without erasing my contacts on my phone and her contacts from her ipod?

Hi,
I got my phone a couple of years ago and when it came in the mail, I wasn't home so my brother decided to set up my iPhone for me because he was so desperate to check the phone out. My iCloud account has been his account and it's been set up under his e-mail since the day I got my phone. Once he bought an iPhone, he set it up under the same e-mail account and now we share it. It's so annoying because all of my pictures and stuff are stored in my iCloud, but that's under his e-mail and I really want a new iCloud account but I want to transfer all of my iCloud information and pictures to my e-mail without losing them. Randomly, my brother has been receiving some of my facetime calls and I even turned it off so that it is only set on my device. I didn't even know he received any of my facetime calls until the other day when my friend told me. Now, our contacts are shared and I don't want that either. At one point during the summer, he was receiving my text messages as well. I turned all of those off under settings so they wouldn't be shared on his device, but I need to find a way to carry my iCloud stuff and set it up in a my own completely separate account. Please, please help me. I really am getting so frustrated with it and neither of us want to delete our accounts because we don't want to lose our iCloud stuff.

• HT204053 Can I have 4 apple IDs under one purchasing account for using iMessage and FaceTime?

I have an iPhone, an itouch, an iPad and my kids each have an itouch as well as my bf who has an iPad mini. Is there a way that we can use iMessage and FaceTime with each other? All devices use one account for purchases. Can we each have an ID without losing our music and movies?

Thank you for the reply... But now, I have to ask, HOW?! Lol I have added and verified their emails, but I don't think that's the same is it? I basically need step by step instructions. Maybe I just missed it, but I have searched how to do this and can't figure it out. So any help would be greatly appreciated... We each have a couple hundred various songs and movies etc downloaded, but all registered and synced to my account and I really don't want to have to buy duplicates of one direction, Taylor Swift, etc. ☺ so to anyone who can give me a hand... Thank you in advance.

• My daughter has an ipod touch, which I connected with my email account.  Now I have an iphone and we would like to separate the accounts.  How do I do this without her losing everything that's she's downloaded and purchased?

My daughter's ipod touch and my iphone are are the same account.  How do I set up adifferent account for her without losing everything she has purchased and downloaded?

To keep from losing purchases you will both need to continue sharing the Apple ID for purchases.
I would reccommend you both create new Apple IDs for iCloud, iMessage and FaceTime and keep the current one to share purchases in the iTunes & App Stores.
Use shared ID here:
Settings > iTunes & App Stores
Use individual IDs here:
Settings > iCloud
Settings > Messages
Settings > FaceTime
Settings > Game Center

Options for when an iOS device gets locked because of forgotten passcode:
Restore (and reset passcode) on your device by connecting it to the last computer to which it was connected:
iTunes: Backing up, updating, and restoring iOS software - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
If you cannot connect it to the computer to which the device was last connected (or the device was never connected to a computer) you will have to use recovery mode to completely reset the device, losing all data:
iOS: Unable to update or restore - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808 - recovery mode (e.g., cannot connect to computer last used to sync device, iTunes still asks for a password)
If recovery does not work there's:

• FaceTime not working after changing Apple ID Password

Using an iPad 2, FaceTime and Messages was working fine.  Since changing my Apple ID password, FaceTime and Messages are no longer working.  When I enter the the new password within FaceTime it states the password is not correct.  I'm able to update Apps on the iPad using the new Apple ID password.  Any idea how to get Facetime and Messages working again on my iPad?

I recently changed my Apple ID and, initially hit all sorts of problems (ML & iOS5.1). AppleTV very confused, Calandar duplicating entries on an iPad, but losing them on the Mac (but being correct on iCloud.com).
The solution ended up being straightforward, if unnecessarily annoying.
On the Mac - in SysPrefs (iCloud) turn off all syncs and sign out. Delete items from the Mac (in response to the prompt).
On the iPad - in settings do the same.
On the ATV - turn off Home Sharing.
In iTunes - log out of the Apple Store
Sign out on iCloud.com and sign back in using a @me.com email address (not the Apple ID)
Reestablish iCloud sync (etc) by signing in using the email address (not the ID).
It appears that everything collects the new Apple ID using the email address and they all play nicely together again.
