Losing information of music during sync (Mac - XperiaS)

Hi guys,
I have this problem from 3 weeks now, when i try to sync music between my Mac and XperiaS, i lost some info of the songs (cover art, artist, title) and the title has in the name the number that has in the allbum (01 Yellow Flicker Beat).
It's a mess, i have all the songs in order of album number and with no artist. Can't imagine to edit all of them on the device.
What can i do?

Hi,
I recently started using Sony Bridge for Mac to transfer music from my iTunes to my Xperia Arc.
However, after transfer music to my phone, I discovered that some of the music I had transferred was not in the folder of that artist, but in a folder marked "unknown artist". I have tried deleting the files from my phone and readding them, but still the same thing happens. On my iTunes, all these songs are in the correct folders and even on Sony Bridge with Mac the songs are under the correct artist but, once transfered, are placed in unknown artist.
Hope someone can help

  • Re-encode high bit rate music during sync?

The iPod Shuffle has a great feature during music sync which allows you to have iTunes automatically re-encode high bit rate music rates to 128kb/s AAC during sync. There doesn't appear to be a way to enable this option for other iPods, including the iPhone.
Does anyone know a way to get this functionality for the iPhone? With the amount of apps and photos I have on my phone, it leaves little space for music and my entire collection is high bit rate.

I'm not aware of a way to get this functionality with an iPhone. Lowering the rate for music in your iTunes library which was encoded at a higher rate when imported into your iTunes library reduces the sound quality more than if the chosen lower rate was selected for the encoder option when importing the music originally.
Depending on the available storage space on your computer, or on an external drive for your iTunes library, you can re-encode the music you want transferred to your iPhone followed by placing the lower rate music in an iTunes playlist that is selected to be transferred to your iPhone.

  • Losing music during sync

Every time I sync my iPhone, I lose music. I have it set up to manually sync music. When I transfer music from my iPhone to my computer, I lose other music on my iPhone (not necessarily the music I am transferring). When I load music to my iPhone, I lose other music. I saw something about the new DRM affecting things and it does seem to be the same music that I lose over and over, although not all of it was bought from iTunes. Some of it is music I have on CD. Anyone have any idea how to stop this? So far, I've only had to buy one CD twice but I can imagine that this could become pretty expensive.

The only music that can be transferred from your iPhone to your iTunes library on your computer is music that was purchased from the iTunes store with your iPhone, but this music should not be removed from your iPhone during this process, which depends on your sync settings for music.
During the first sync with iTunes after purchasing music with the iTunes store on your iPhone, an iTunes playlist is created under Store in the iTunes source list named - Purchased on - the name of your iPhone, which also places the music in your main iTunes library.
Are you manually managing music and videos with your iPhone - selected under the Summary tab for your iPhone sync preferences, or are you syncing your iPhone with iTunes?
If the latter, what is your selection under the Music tab for your iPhone sync preferences?
Syncing an iPod or an iPhone with iTunes does not delete music from your iTunes library on your computer. The sync process for iTunes content with an iPod or iPhone is a one way transfer process only - from your computer to your iPhone.
Are you losing music from your iTunes library on your computer?

  • Losing video on ipod during sync

Hi; i encountered this problem a couple of times and wonder if there is a way out.
I copied a video to my ipod touch (4G) and when i was doing a sync it disappeared. I later realized i had deleted the video off my computer so during the sync it wiped out the copy on my IPOD.
Is there a way to avoid this.
I now have a video clip on my ipod and i know i already deleted it off my computer. I would like to recover it from my ipod but i think if i do a Sync it will disappear just like the other one.
    Any ideas. Thanx in advance.

Your new computer probably wiped out the photos while attempting to sync with the Nano since it did not see any of the photos on the Nano that are now on your computer. They were probably synced to your Nano in the first place during a normal sync to add music, etc., but it didn't add the full photo it added a thumbnail that can fit the tiny screen of the Nano. Even if you had been able to get them from the Nano they would have been the size of the Nano screen in iPhoto.
Can you not recover the originals from your PC?

  • Sync Mac/nokia xpress music 5310

Recently the synchronisation between my phone Nokia Xpress Music 5310 and Mac OsX 10.4.11 fails.
Before, I used i Sync with the plug-in advised on the Nokia support site, but now synchronisation with iCal fails and stays hanging allways on the same number of items. I tried to install the plug in on another Mac, and also there synchronisation fails...Now on my computer I have i Sync 2.4.
Anyone any idea why it stopped functioning? (before I really didn't have any problem with the synchronisation with iCal...) Any idea what to do about it?
Thank you in advance for helping me with this!!

    Hi,
Could be a possiblity that the ical is not responding to the sync command from isync.
Try the steps below and check if it works.
    - Open Isync and then go to isync preferences-Reset Sync history.
    - Remove the device from the isync application window
    - Go to HDD/Library/Phone plugins and drag and drop the plugin to the trash.
    - Restart Mac and then download the plugin from www.nokia.com/mac and check.
Alternatively you could also try the following steps.
    - Go to Library/Calendars/Sue.ics, now drag and drop the sue.ics file to the desktop.
    - Now double click the sue.ics file in the desktop it will ask if you want to import the ics file into an existing calendar or a new calendar. Select new calendar.
NOTE: Please make sure that you take a back up of all the calendar entries before performing the above steps.
    Hopefully it works
    Cheers
    Sandy

computers without music and video pictures etc .... without losing information on my iphone ..... help

This can be done without having to sync contacts and calendar events direct with a supported application via the iTunes sync process on each computer.
This can be done over the air with a free iCloud account.

You are talking about the menu bar of Itunes, right?
Yes. With iTunes open the menu bar is at the top of your screen.
where exactly is the Store/synck you iphone option?
After you authorize the computer connect your iPhone then follow the instructions here > iOS: How to transfer or sync content to your computer
When you are done transferring the data to the desktop, right or control click the iPhone under Devices left side of the iTunes window then click Back Up.
That way you will have a backup just in case you need to restore your iPhone.

  • How do I back up iPhone to new Mac without losing all my music?

My old MacBook Pro died and I bought a new one.  i need to sync and back up my iPhone to iTunes on the new Mac, but my friend says that since there is no music in the Mac, it will erase all the music on my iPhone and I will lose it.  A lot of my music was not bought on iTunes, bu ripped from my CD's or bought elsewhere. There is no music on my new Mac.  I hope I can sync the iPhone to the new Mac and all my music will be copied to the Mac. Is this possible?  Is there a correct way to do it.

Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself independently backed up against loss.  To use a device with a new computer you transfer the content from the old computer (or its backup) directly to the new computer, not the device to the new computer. Media syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only purchases from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software.  See this document by turingtest2: Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991

    Solutions?

No, I never really found an easy solution.  I believe it is an issue with some corruption in the iTunes database on the specific device.  In my case, both my iPad and iPhone now show duplicate stream songs if viewed through iTunes on my Mac, but they show different songs.  A couple years ago I had a similar issue on my iPhone, and Apple support suggested I back up the phone, completely reset it, and then restore it from the backup.  It did work, so I imagine it would probably work for my current issues with the iPhone and iPad.  But resetting and restoring an iPad or iPhone always makes me a little nervous that something will get lost.  When I did reset/restore the iPhone, I do have to say, the restore process was 100% perfect and I did not lose any data at all even though Apple support said I might.  If you try to go that route, I would suggest backing the device up both to a computer through iTunes, and to the iCloud so that you have a double backup.
None of this really resolves the issue with how the iTunes databases are becoming corrupted on the apple devices though, so it is very likely to happen again until they fix it.  I have been unable to determine if there were any specific actions or conditions which caused the corruption to happen in the first place.
Might be worth another call to Apple support, or dropping in the local Apple store if you have one near by.

You shoudl have come here first for help before doing that.

All I can say is make sure you have the same account name on the computer like before, even if you have to create a new user under System Preferences>accounts, then log into your itunes account with that and try to reverse sync from the iPhone like you would normally.
Apple doesn't expect one to go backwards, so they are not all that friendly, you may have to ask around on MacRumors for third party software that can reverse sync from iOS devices.
    Good luck

  • My laptop was stolen. How do I sync my old iphone to a new computer without losing my purchases (music & apps)?

My laptop was stolen. How do I sync my old iphone to a new computer without losing my purchases (music & apps)?

One of the reasons to include your iTunes library with your computer's backup along with all other important data that is kept separate from your laptop - not carried in the same case, etc.
iTunes includes an option to transfer iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store from an iDevice, but this is for iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store only.
First you need to authorize your new computer with your iTunes account with iTunes. With your iPhone connected and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone.
If you are in the US, you can do this now as well.
