Losing memory space to music files
I sync my iphone to itunes and if you have all your music in the cloud why does it take up storage space on my phone. Each time I sync i am getttin less and less memory on my phone? Any ideas
One thing you need to remember even though it's a 16Gb Card there is some space that is used when you format the Card or even your first intial use there is some space used by the phone an this has happen all the way back when Sd cards were first pute into use on our earlier phones an Cameras that came out.
On your songs there are going to be different Bit Rates an Lengths an do to this is what might of caused it to load up fast than what you expected. An some thing els as a Reminder Taking pictures uses space on the Sd card as Well. So does Getting ringtones an Wallpapers an if you have any of your Apps on the Sd it will consume space. So check all these area's to see what you've got an then go from there. Check following:
1. generation of trace files in bdump,cdump and udump directory (compress, move or remove *.trc files and cdmp_nnnnnn directories)
2. generation of network trace files is enabled (sqlnet.ora)
3. if your database files are located somewhere under /opt/oracle directory then check for autoextend datafiles
Check content of alert log and content of latest tracle files (in bdump) and if you are facing to bug 3208807 then trace files must contain error message as mentioned in 3208807.8 Note. -
N81 8Gb No memory when transferring music files
I have a new N81 8gb it shows the following in the memory details:
11 MB Memory in use
14 MB Free Memory
411 B Calendar
44 kb Contacts
10 kb Messages
2438 kb Images
0 B Sound files
677 kb Video Clips
0 B Documents
0 B MIDP apps
This phone is supposed to have 8Gb, how do I find out the available total memory and what is available, currently when I try to transfer a music file from my pc it says it doesn't have enough memory!!

Cheers, The Beast.ok........im having exactly the same problems except when plugging into the computer and being asked to 'select a mode'...i select data, and it says 'unable to activate data transfer mode. Mass memory is in use by another application'
now what to do......
is there not a simpler way of transfering files without using the computer?

day after day my internal hardrive loses some memory space ...of course i'm sure it is not by my downloads ... its like theres something invisible always recording by taking space or a weird bug dunno ...

Why does Itunes keep losing the location of music files?
Itunes will lose the location of the music files. they clearly listed under the right album and proper order but when you select a song a exclamation mark shows up and a window pops up asking me where it can be located. I don't know, Itunes lost it, I haven't done any maintenance work to the hard drive that I know of other than clean the registry on my firefox search engine.
The "missing file" error happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, one of its parent folders, or the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout, or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place. In the case of a library moved from one system to another there are also potential permissions issues. See Repair security permissions for iTunes for Windows.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to Get Info, then click No when asked to try to locate the track. (Due to a bug in iTunes 12 you currently have to say No twice!) Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, a folder renamed, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions. If the difference between the two paths is an additional Music folder in one path then this is a layout issue. I can explain further if that is the case.
In some cases iTunes may be able to repair itself if you go through the same steps with Get Info but this time click Locate and browse to the lost track. It may then offer to attempt to automatically fix other broken links.
If another application like Windows Media Player has moved/renamed the files then the chances are that subtle differences in naming strategies will make it hard to restore the media to the precise path that iTunes is expecting. In such cases, as long as the missing files can be found somewhere, you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes. See this post for an explanation of how it works.
i may be able to give some more focused advice once there is a clearer picture of where things are.

Losing disk space after installing Mavericks
After installing OS X Mavericks, I had noticed my computer was losing disk space after updating some products. I even shut down my computer to allow it to readjust to the updates, cleared some unnecessary apps, and yet I see my computer losing more space, as if files are being added behind the scenes. I've adjusted my browser Safari to more private settings,even cleared the cache, to avoid this, yet it still occurs. Are there other files I should be clearing?
the trouble is I don't know what is causing the disk space to be taken. I'm idly using Safari with private browsing set, when I come looking at my finder, seeing the space gradually falling. I was at 695.02 GB available this morning, and now at 694.83 GB available. I've made no downloads in between then, so I'm wondering if this is the result of downloading Mavericks directly from the app store, or if there is a setting I need to fix. I've tried verrifying/repairing the disk, permissions too, but I still see the decrease occurring.

Music files deleted from Memory Card..(5800XM)

I have a Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. Music files used to get deleted earlier automatically from the music player, but this problem stopped for a while. The other day, I transferred about 20 songs to my phone via Mass Storage mode through my PC. After a couple of days, all those 20 songs are missing from my music player. They've disappeared from the Memory Card as well, leaving behind only the folder in which they were.
Please help. This is REALLY annoying.Yes, may be you are right. Something was wrong with my memory card and i figured out this morning. its an 8gb card out of which my personal data was about 4 gb. yet i could see that almost 7gb was used and only about 0.5gb was free. what i did was that i pulled all my data out of the mem card and found that still 3gb was used up. hmmm...this was very weird. Not too sure but i guess it may be occupied by .arc files which are created when i do backup on the memory card. This was leaving very little space on my mem card , so whenever new data was added to the card, it was flushing out some existing data randomly (which is actually very sick!).
So, i removed all my personal data from card and then formatted it. Now my card is clean and has lot of free space. Hopefully the problem won't repeat anymore.
Its actually quite annoying that data is deleted randomly without prompting that disk has run out space. quite weird actually.

I have problem with Itunes losing where podcasts and some purchased music is located. Don't know how Itunes losing the locations of the files and I can't find the files on my hard drive. What can I do to stop Itunes losing location and restore my files?
Try assigning Queen as the Album Artist on the compilations in iTunes on your computer.

I have already backed up all the itunes files on two different external drives. And I have already set up icloud and itunes match. I am still paranoid about deleting the files from my MBP, but I need to free the space. What steps should I take to delete the files. And can I still keep itunes (w/o all the music files) on my laptop and access the music from the cloud? I know I can run them with the external drive plugged in, but looking for a way to do it w/o pluggin in.
I have tried that as well. The purchased songs are not in my playlists and they are still there. I manually deleted them on the phone but the sync puts them right back on there.

The laptop I originally synch'd my iphone 4s with is broken and cannot retrieve any files. How can I sync the phone with a new laptop without losing all my downloaded music and apps already installed on my iphone?
If the answer to the above question is "yes", FIRST, set up a backup of your new computer before you do anything else so the next time your computer breaks you will not be in the same situation. Backup solutions are numerous and inexpensive, and there is absolutely no excuse in the Third Millennium not to have one.

I deleted all my photos and videos and then delete the deleted files but the photo app is still taking up 12 GB of space and I have no room for new stuff. How can I clear the memory space used by my deleted videos and photos? I don't know why the photos are still taking up space and if I will have to reset my phone to get rid of the problem.

use a MyBook for Mac external hard drive.
I need space on garageband or the entire hard drive, since I am getting the "need space on the hard drive" messages.
It's scary to move my precious music files!
How should I move them to the external and feel safe about doing so?
Or are there other methods besides the obvious, clearing caches, deleting the trash and downloads, etc., that are recommended?
I am doing music now and producers are waiting for the new vocals!

Thanks!The process is as simple as just copying your Garageband project to the external drive and deleting from the macs hard drive. But before you delete anything you really need to back them up to someplace else also. Having just one copy is not safe. Get another external drive, DVDs or even flash drives, you absolutely need anything important in more then one place.

C5-03; how to view music files in the memory card ...
Is it possible to view the files in the memory card (using the File Manager) folder-wise? I have some music files in the memory card; in a folder named 'Music'. When I go to Menu - Applications- Office- File mgr - E:Memory car-Music , I see the files in different collections corresponding to the artist/ genre names. I don't see the folders I had created. The artist/ genre (meta) data is not accurate and so the listing based on that is not useful.
This is related to the problem with Palylists I had posted earlier.go to music player select options and refresh player this will pick up all the music
