Losing songs during sync process

I am having to recreate an iTunes library for my son. He swears the next sync will erase all of this songs. Is this true? If so, how can I prevent that from happening?

It's true, if you sync an ipod to an EMPTY library, that ipod will get erased.
However, you wrote that you are recreating an itunes library, which implies it will not be empty....the ipod would get filled with whatever is selected from the library.
I'm not sure what your situation is...
do you need to get music off the ipod?

or are you recreating this library on a new PC?

How can i retrieve purchased audiobooks that were not synced (problem encountered during sync process)?  My account shows the purchase history, but the apps are no longer displayed in itunes or on my ipad or iphone.  I'm not very savvy with using iTunes - I don't think is very intuitive (unlike me:)).  Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Is it possible to protect favorites during syncing process

Is it possible to protect favorites during syncing process. Tx

First thing done when you sync is an iPhone backup. Included in that backup are phone "favorites".

  • Do anyone know about recovering notes that I accidentally deleted from my iPad during sync process? Thanks

Do anyone know about recovering notes that I accidentally deleted from my iPad during sync process? Thanks.

If you are using iCloud you can check to see if they are still available remotely by logging onto iCloud.com on a desktop/laptop computer, or 3rd party app like Private Browser or Photon.
If your not using iCloud, or they were also removed from there, you can restore from your last backup (iTunes or iCloud). Unfortunately, this will only recover notes created prior to backing up your iPad. Hope this helps!

  • Losing music during sync

Every time I sync my iPhone, I lose music. I have it set up to manually sync music. When I transfer music from my iPhone to my computer, I lose other music on my iPhone (not necessarily the music I am transferring). When I load music to my iPhone, I lose other music. I saw something about the new DRM affecting things and it does seem to be the same music that I lose over and over, although not all of it was bought from iTunes. Some of it is music I have on CD. Anyone have any idea how to stop this? So far, I've only had to buy one CD twice but I can imagine that this could become pretty expensive.

The only music that can be transferred from your iPhone to your iTunes library on your computer is music that was purchased from the iTunes store with your iPhone, but this music should not be removed from your iPhone during this process, which depends on your sync settings for music.
During the first sync with iTunes after purchasing music with the iTunes store on your iPhone, an iTunes playlist is created under Store in the iTunes source list named - Purchased on - the name of your iPhone, which also places the music in your main iTunes library.
Are you manually managing music and videos with your iPhone - selected under the Summary tab for your iPhone sync preferences, or are you syncing your iPhone with iTunes?
If the latter, what is your selection under the Music tab for your iPhone sync preferences?
Syncing an iPod or an iPhone with iTunes does not delete music from your iTunes library on your computer. The sync process for iTunes content with an iPod or iPhone is a one way transfer process only - from your computer to your iPhone.
Are you losing music from your iTunes library on your computer?

  • Playlists lost during syncing process

I was updating my ipod touch recently, and when I went to check that everything was updated correctly, I found that the update had deleted all of my playlists!
The playlists are all still there in my itunes library on my computer, so I haven't lost them, but I cannot figure out how to get them back on the ipod itself.
I have an 8g ipod, so I often have to delete some older songs when I download new music. So before it started updating, it gave the notice that I had music on my ipod that wasn't on my itunes, and asked if I wanted to transfer, and I said no. But other than that (which I have done before and never had problems with), there was nothing different that I did before or during syncing.
Has anybody else had this issue? I'm very big on playlists, so I would really really like to get them back, and have no idea how to go about it since I have no idea how it happened!
Thanks so much in advance for any responses!

The same thing has just happened to my ipod, I only have Genius and On-the-go!
Have you had any luck getting yours back?

  • Desktop Manager Has Stopped Working @ Processing Device Calendar During Sync Process

I have a BB 8330 and have an annoying issue....it sync'd with MS Outlook for about 2 months after i got it then I started getting an error inthe sync process "Blackberry Desktop Manager Has Stopped Working, Windows is shutting it Down"....this always happens at the exact same point inthe sync process..."Processing Device Calendar".
I've done everything, Verizon tech support...BB tech support...uninstall/reinstall...nothing has fixed it. I even deleted everything out of outlook and started over. The odd thing is that everything EXCEPT the calendar will sync....it's just when it gets to the "processing device calendar" is stops syncing and I get the 'DM Has stopped working' error and it closes.
I am going to scream if I can't get this fixed...it's been going on since last October!!
    Any fixes out there?

Hmm. That may be something in your calendar database is corrupt. Was your device ever synched before? There is a way of clearing the calendar database. So if you have your device synching with Outlook, after it's cleared from the BlackBerry, you could try synching again.
To clear the calendar database you can go into Desktop Manager | Backup and Restore | Advanced. On the right hand side select the calendar database and hit the Clear button. Afterwards try synching again

  • Receovery data problem. Plugged was taken out during sync process.

I just plugged in my Iphone to download some pics and videos and sync my phone to my MAC and I accidentally pulled out the cord during the sync. Now all my information is gone. There is an option to restore its original settings. Should I click restore? Right now a pic of the cord is on my iphone and no other information. Help please. How do I get my info back onto my iphone?

First thing done when you sync is an iPhone backup. Plug your phone in, iTunes running, right-click the phone in the left device pane & select "Restore from Backup". Select your most recent backup. Follow this by syncing your iTunes content back to your phone.

  • IPad repeatedly copying songs during sync

I have noticed that each time I sync my iPad, a varying number of songs get copied each time.  I am on iOS 6.1.2 and iTunes 11.0.2.
The problem happens both when I would sync via WiFi or plugged in--moreso when on WiFi sync
With the help of a former Genius Bar guy, I backed up the iPad to my Mac, reinstalled fresh copy of iOS and rebuilt the iPad and its contents.  The problem persists.  Also, and I don't know if it is related, but my song count in iTunes is different from my song count on my iPad which is different from my song count on my iPhone.
    Ideas?

So may know that if there is a same issue when u sync though a USB cable?

  • Losing songs after syncing...

How can I keep songs on my iPod without having to keep them on my computer?

Are you sure you want to do that?  iPods are far more likely to get lost / stolen / damaged than your computer - I'd hate the thought that the only place I had music stored was on such a vulnerable device.  Better to treat your computer as the "master" for your iTunes library, back it up frequently, and use one or more playlists to control which music from your library is copied to your iPod when you sync it.

  • Losing songs on sync

When I sync with ipod there are much more tunes in library than ipod; 1175 in library v. 107 in ipod. I checked "sync all songs and play lists". Why are not all of the songs sync?

Are any of these songs from the iTunes Store?

  • Losing apps during sync

I'm having trouble finding the answer to this question.
I keep my iTunes library on a removable hard drive, and that means my applications are there as well. If I plug my iPod in without the hard drive, iTunes wont be able to find the applications and will delete them. I can prevent this from stopping the sync, but if I want to do more than just charge it, (like add the few songs that ARE on the computer, or back up to the computer songs I purchased on the iPod), then I have to sync and I lose my apps that aren't on the computer's hard drive.
How can I prevent this? I'm sure I can move the apps to the local computer and just keep them there rather than on the removable hard drive, but is there another way?
    Thanks.

Suppose I just stored the apps locally and could leave all the songs and videos on the external? If I did a sync would I still lose everything? (I manage manually, so it doesn't go through my library and update, I just lose the Apps every time unless the external is plugged in.)

  • I downloaded the latest itunes, now my 2nd gen ipod touch hangs up during sync process at backing up. Am I just out of luck? I've tried the uninstall/reinstall several times.  Thanks.

I understand it's "obsolete", so do I have any hope of continuing to use it or will I be forced to buy a later model?

Try running 'CMD' as Administrator    (CMD will get you to a DOS prompt)
Then type in  -->   Netsh Winsock Reset
Then reboot your computer and then try syncing...  this worked for me last night.

  • 0x3b21 Intellisync Error during Sync Process

Tried to do a Sync and in DTM under Sync I have these checked:
    Reconcile Messages
Synchronize organizer data (If this is unchecked I DO NOT get this error message)
    Update device data and time
As I watch it go through its Sync screens, right before it gives this error it shows a screen that says something to the effect of "Setting up default system configuration" and then boom it pops up this error.
Intellisync (Shown in Top Bar of box)
Warning encountered. Warning Code - 0x3b21.
    Check Documentation
I have followed the instructions listed Bifocals forum (http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Bold-BlackBerry-9000/Bold-quot-Warning-code-quot/m...) listing to the "T" and it did not work for me. When I downloaded the software he had linked the computer said "Software not found" after installing it. I tried again and it said the same thing. I then went to Software Download center and downloaded the 4.6 version without Media Manager and it still does the same error.
Any ideas? Maybe I'm missing something that one of you can point out.
    Hail

    Hi there!
Here are some KBs that discuss that error:
KB17365 "Warning encountered. Warning code - 0x3b21. Check documentation"
KB17307 "Warning encountered. Warning code - 0x3b21. Check documentation", error appears when configuring the synchronization in the BlackBerry Desktop Manager
    Hopefully they contain something useful!
