Losing songs I have downloaded

I have been having trouble losing MP3 songs I have downloaded from Amazon. I will suddenly get an exclamation point before the song and it can not be found. Why is this happening and how can I prevent it from happening again? Can Some one help me please?

I had trouble with the Amazon downloader a few weeks back and had to reinstall it. Not quite the same problem as yours. Since it's just happening with songs from Amazon, it could be something with their downloader. Do you have it set to automatically add the songs to iTunes? The song files should still be on your hard drive, in any case.
If it's just a few songs with the problem, right-click > Get Info on the ones that have the ! and you can browse to where they are on the hard drive. If its quite a few songs, just add them back into itunes and delete the ones that show !

Presuming they're on your computer, right click on them and then follow the prompts to locate hte file on your computer.

The way you described is how I normally printed my list but for whatever the reason I cannot do that now. Thank you for your help.

Is there a way for your backup to remember what songs you have downloaded with itunes match

i use itunes match, but i download the songs to my device as i have spotty service where i work and live.
i am upgrading to a larger size iphone and dont want to have to search through itunes match again and select all the songs i want to download again once i get the new phone. is there a way that itunes match will "remember" what song i have downloaded to my device and "re-download" them to the new device?
maybe via a playlist then just download the playlist? this seems like a lenghty way of doing it though.
anyhelp, tips or advice would be greatly appreciate. thanks

I've had this happen several times... I suspect the download was interrupted for some unreported reason so it only has a partial file or has a corrupt byte in the file it failed to catch.
Just delete the local copy and re-download from the cloud and they play fine.

Just playing songs I have downloaded to my iphone

So I just want to play just those songs I have downloaded to my iphone from my matched library. How do I know what has been downloaded to my iphone? Is there a folder denoting this info and allowing me to shuffle and play those songs only?

It sounds like you are unable to play a couple of songs from your library becuase you get a message that the computer is unauthorized to play, but other content purchased that same day works without issue. I would verify that the affected songs were purchased with the same Apple ID first:

Open iTunes
Highlight one of the items you have purchased (You can find your purchases in your Purchases playlist).
Choose File > Get Info.
Click the Summary tab.
The Account Name area will list the account used to purchase the item. Unless you have changed accounts, this is your iTunes Store account name.
If so, then delete the songs:

What is the detail format of the non-syncing songs?
Does any media now sync to the iPod?
Do you have the right boxes checked to sync?

I've bought several songs from the iTunes stores. Some of the songs automatically download to my laptop, which is set up to receive these songs. Other songs won't download no matter what I try. They should be downloading to my Windows Media Player which is the default player. I'm running Windows 7. If you can help I'd really appreciate it!

If the songs are still on your ipod, make sure autosync is disabled in iTunes on your computer, connect and right click on it in the device list, then choose "transfer purchases" to copy all bought media and apps from your ipod to your computer.
If the songs are not on your computer and got deleted from your ipod as well, you can't get them back, unless you have a backup of your iTunes library as part of your computer backup.

You'll have to create a ringtone from it first as it is not in the correct format. Do the following:
Connect your device to your computer, open iTunes and, wait for the name of your phone to appear, then go to File>Devices>Transfer Purchases.
If you're using iTunes 11, go to View>Show Sidebar.
Locate the song in your iTunes library, right-click on it, select "Get Info", on the Summary tab check if it says "Kind: Ringtone". If it doesn't, then you must convert it to a ringtone, then sync it to your phone.

Wont play a song i have downloaded...

I have recently downloaded an Album using my phone... works fine!
I then downloaded to my LapTop, the whole Album play's except 1 song!! (holy grail, Jay-z)
I-tunes pop's up and say's my computor is not autherised to play this?!?!?!? Then when I follow log in as prompted it comes up and say's this computor is??.... but still wont play just pop's up asking me to log in again to autherise!!!
Have been waiting 30mins to chat to Apple Tech then saw this... anyone shed any light??

Why when i try to play four songs i have downloaded i keep getting the notice that i have to authorize my computer though it is already authorized?

when ever i try to select one of four songs by the backstreet boys i am asked to authorize my computer by putting in my ID and password which i do but the songs won't play even though my computer is already authorized to play itunes songs. i don't have trouble with any other songs except four out of 12 songs on the album i downloaded. all the rest play without any trouble but not All I have to Give,I'll never break your heart,Set adrift on memory bliss, and Anywhere for you. these songs keep asking for my to authorize my computer to play these songs but as i said my computer is already authorized. please do something about this continues problem.

You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

Any reason that half if not more of my music downloads cannot be played reason being thr file cannot be found ?

If you haven't done any of the things that I previously suggested, and you don't use something like Windows Media Player (which may rename songs), then the only other explanation is that you have disconnected the drive where the files are stored. So, are the songs on an external hard drive or memory stick? Have you recently added the music to your iTunes library and now that same music is missing?
