Losing storage on iPad mini

Hi
Strange problem
I have had my new iPad mini since spring. I have had no issues watching movies from I tunes and last evening it keeps telling me there is no storage space to download
I have removed apps turned things off including iCloud and still nothing
Help!

How much storage do you have left?
What is taking up the most storage?
Storage is not endless. And as you add more things it gets used up.
If you go to Settings->General->Usage how muhc space does it say you have available?

  • Storage w iPad Mini

I've had an iPad mini since Feb & the pics i was taking & everything went straight to my iCloud which I get an alert constantly saying its full. The only things I want backed up are my pics & music. I want to use my iPad memory bc Im going on vacay. I have plenty of memory on my iPad (16gb) that I rather be using than ICloud. Help!

When you take a photo, a copy is sent to the Camera Roll, which is stored locally on your iPad, and a copy is sent to Photo Stream, which is iCloud. So there is a copy in both. Additionally, Photo Stream does NOT count against your iCloud storage, but backups do. That's probably what's taking up your space. Go to Settings > iCloud > Storage and Backup > Manage Storage to change this.

  • ICloud storage on iPad Mini Won't go below 2.5 GB

I have turned off ALL apps & camera roll, deleted most photos,  deleted old playlists & songs....
Still Says: Next backup size 2.5 GB.
What exactly is being sent to the cloud, and how can I delete some of it?
    Thank JB

Solved it. Here's how I did it:
Installed the latest EFI update (2.6) for my laptop.
Restarted into Windows, uninstalled current Intel drivers (those included in BootCamp).
Booted into Safe Mode & downloaded the latest Intel drivers for HD4000 directly from Intel.
Restarted and voila! Processor clock speed idles at 800MHz and scales up to 2.7GHz under load, but thermal issues no longer arise. 48ºC on idle!

  • HT201232 I puchased lord of the rings extended trilogy and did not have enough storage on my 16 gb ipad mini. It only downloaded the first movie. Is there a way i can view the other 2 or get a refund?

I Purchased lord of the rings extended trilogy but do not have enough storage on my ipad mini 16gb. onky 1 movie fit, is there a way to view the other 2 or to get a refund?

To have them all on your iPad at the same time you would need enough free space, which you won't have on a 16 gig model.
You might be able to download them on your computer's iTunes, possibly via the Store > Check For Available Downloads menu option, or by going to the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage. If you can you can then sync/watch them one at a time to your iPad, or stream them from your computer's iTunes to your iPad via homesharing : homesharing will need to be enabled on both your computer's iTunes (File > Home Sharing menu option) and iPad (Settings > Videos) ; both will need to connected to the same wifi network ; and iTunes on your computer will need to be open ; you should then get a 'shared' library option in the Videos app on your iPad

  • How do I sync my new ipad mini with my old ipad 2, without losing any apps or data in notes?  I need step by step instructions for first-time sync with ipad mini.  Thanks.

How do I sync my new ipad mini with my old ipad 2, without losing any apps or data in notes?  I need step by step instructions for first-time sync with ipad mini.  Thanks.

If you synced it many times, you have to have a backup. It's just a question of how old that backup is now. When did you last sync?
First of all launch iTunes on your computer and go to Edit>Preferences>Devices. Do you see any backups for you iPad in that window? If so, how new is the newest backup? That will be the backup that you will want to use. But remember that if you use that backup and it is one month old, you can only restore from that date back in time. Anything that you did on the iPad in the past month will not be in that backup.
Turn on the new iPad Minin and start activating OTA via WiFi. You will get to a certain point in the process where you will be given the choice to Set up as new, Restore from iCloud - or Restore from iTunes. You will want to select Restore from iTunes.
That is the short and sweet version. There are step by step instructions in this article. This applies to the mini as well as the iPad 4 or the iPad 3 for that matter.

  • Why is my iCloud storage full when I bought a 32GB iPad mini?

When my mum bought me my iPad mini at Christmas (7 months ago), she bought me a 32GB and recently I have had notifications saying that my iCloud storage is full. I have deleted many apps and many photos, also when I try to delete the data of certain apps I don't want, the switch will turn to white (meaning it has been deleted) and when I go back onto Manage Backup the switch will be green ( meaning that it has obviously not been deleted). Why does this happen? Is it a problem with the iPad itself? My mum bought me the 32GB so problems like this wouldn't happen. Also writing this question my iPad has been running slow, is this because of my iCloud storage being full?
I just put this down to be that when you buy the iPad mini you get 5GB free for your backup and the other 32GB is for photos, apps etc. Is this what has happened I have used up the 5GB of iCloud backup? Or have I used up the full 32GB?
Thank you for taking the time to read and (hopefully) answer my question.

Apps, music, movies, sync'd photos from iTunes are part of iCloud backup.
You should turn off photo backup to iCloud and regularly sync your photos to your computer and delete them from the Camera Roll.

Also writing this question my iPad has been running slow, is this because of my iCloud storage being full?
    No.
Close all apps (double click Home then swipe up on all apps) then press & hold both Home & Power until you see the Apple logo.

  • Thank you Texas Mac Man for suggested links but have already tried all those.  It is a contstant filling up of storage daily.  Restart ipad mini and then OK for the day. Something, some app or ? is filling up it up or at least it thinks it is filled up.

I have no music and no video (tried deleting all) very few apps.  16GB ipad Mini fills itself up (storage full message by end of each day) with adding nothing.  Just checked again, no music no video and my two biggest APPS FB and Kindle just over 100MB each a few other smaller APPS is all that is on it.  Tried the restore and back up. Same prob.  The same problem is happening with my 32GB iTouch. (Exact same problem)...my wife's ipad and son's mini are not having the issue.  If I restart computer it frees up tons of storage and if I check says 13 GB free.  If I check in about and hour maybe 7GB free etc until full and now won't let you even check websites.  I have cleared data from apps tried deleting just about everything, tried restore...don't know what else to do.  Since so many posts are out there with same mysterious storage filling up hoping a fix would be coming. Could it possibly be a common App or?  If I do plug into computer and sync with iTunes (depending on what time of day) it will show entire device full (yellow bar) "Other"....if I just restarted then plugged in OK and shows 13GB free. Any ideas?  WIll keep holding on and restarting a couple times a day so I can use it...thanks

I remember this conversation from your earlier thread (iy makes more sense to stay on the same thread than to start a new one.
Since it is happening to both your devices, but now your wife and son's, it is likely associated with one of your apps, which are on both devices.  delete them all, and add back one by one until you find the culprit.
This could also be by having i cloud tied up in an endless attempt to sync stuff across the two devices.  I remember earlier posts about the contact syncing getting stuck between 2 address books that did not agree, and it could not rectify which was the master and which is the slave.
So turn off the cloud, and see if the behavior stops.  If it does, turn on the services one by one to figure out what is causing it.

  • ICloud storage space used up by old data from 1st gen iPad I traded in nearly 2 yrs ago for an iPad Mini. Can't backup any info for mini or new 6 plus. How can I access this old data to clear it out?

My iCoud storage space is being used up by old data from a 1st  generation iPad I traded in nearly 2 yrs ago for an iPad Mini. The people at the sprint store where I made my trade were supposed to transfer everything over from my old iPad to the new Mini once they backed up the old device to iCloud. Well, long story short, none of the data ever got transferred to the new iPad, but it all got backed to iCloud, eating up all my storage space. Here I am almost 2 years later, and I've never been able to back-up my iPad mini. What's worse, My iPhone 4 wasn't backed up that whole time, and now I can't back-up my data from my new iPhone 6 Plus to iCloud either. Trying to find creative ways to store and save my information and data between all my devices is getting to be ridiculous. I don't want to upgrade my storage space though...just want to clear out a great deal of what is already being stored. How can I access this old data to clear it out?

The only way to access data from an iCloud backup is to restore it to your device.  You could, for example, back up your iPad mini to your computer using iTunes (by connecting it, opening iTunes, then going to File>Devices>Back Up and choosing to back up apps and transfer purchases when prompted), then erase it and restore the old iPad backup (as explained here: iCloud: Restore or set up your iOS device from iCloud), save any recovered data you want to keep, then restore your iTunes backup back to your iPad mini (by connecting it to your computer, opening iTunes, then going to File>Devices>Restore from Backup).
Once you're done with the old backup, delete it from your account to free up the space.

  • Daughter mostly plays simple games on iPad mini. Now reached stage where it says can't download not enough storage although showing 14.9 gbs of storage available. How can I overcome this ICloud, dropbox or what ?

Daughter mostly plays simple games on iPad mini. Now reached stage where says "can't download not enough storage2 although showing 14.9 gbs storage available. How do I overcome this icloud, dropbox or what?
    Thank you in anticipation.

Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps from the tray before doing the reset.

  • Ipad mini storage issues!!!

I use an ipad mini, it has 16gb of storage. I have not used even 1 gb of it yet, and yet it is telling me i have used 10gb and only have 2gb left???
I don't know why it is doing this. I don't download movies, i buy them, leave them in the icloud, then when i want to watch them i stream them from straight from my icloud, but everytime i do so my storage shrinks and won't reset or go back up. Please help!! The nearest Apple store is an 1.5 hour's train ride from here and that's gonna cost me nearly £40

I had a similar issue with a phantom movie taking up space.  In my case, the solution was a "Restore."
Note that it could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.

  • Is it possible for me to add on storage to my iPad mini?

I just got an iPad Mini 16gb and I am already running out of room. Is there a way that I can add storage so I can continue making it my own? Thanks.

No.  The amount of space on your device is fixed when you buy it.  The only exception is Music, where if you choose to subscribe to iTunes Match, your music library will be availble to download an play on your device any time you have an internet connection without needing to store it all on your device.
If you want to save space, you'll have to use iTunes to sync some of your data off your device to make room for other data.  You can also import your photos and videos to your computer and delete them from your camera roll to save space (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083).

  • When i tried to download iOS8 on my iPad Mini it told me that I needed to connect my iPad to iTunes, I have done that and now it says I need to restore my iPad. How can I get my iPad working without losing everything on my iPad?

When i tried to download iOS8 on my iPad Mini it told me that I needed to connect my iPad to iTunes, I have done that and now it says I need to restore my iPad. How can I get my iPad working without losing everything on my iPad? I don't want to lose my apps and photos!
    Help would be much appreciated!

If you are getting the connect to iTunes screen then it's too late to take a new backup and/or copy anything off it. Prior to starting the update did you take a backup, either to the cloud and/or to your computer's iTunes ? If not then have you recently taken a backup that might have your photos and apps content/settings in it ?
As long as the apps are still in your country's store then you should be able to redownload them via the Purchased tab in the App Store app (and the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage on your computer's iTunes), and if the apps store their content on a server/cloud service then you might be able to get their content back from that - if they store their content on the device then you will need to have a backup.
For our photos you could try doing a search for programs that claim to be able to recover content from a device - I haven't used any so I can't suggest one.
