Loss every 6 ping

Hi,
I have a little bit strange problem (maybe it is not a problem :))
I have Call Manager cluster with two MCS-7825-H3 servers with 7.0 version of Call Manager.
When I ping these servers from switch or any network device I loss every 6 ping. When I ping from PC or some other server everything is OK.
Maybe some idea why I loss every 6 ping?
I don't have an errors on ports with servers.
Regards,
Vlaho

vjemin, the server rate limits ping replies,to approx 5 per second, and some model of phones, do the same.
So from a PC that send a ping per second, all is fine.
But cisco devices, sends the next packet as soon the previous reply is received, so the rate limiting kicks in.

I see Packet loss when pinging from/to a cisco 3560e switch. CPU utilization is normal.
Switches are running with IOS c3560e-universalk9-mz.122-35.SE5.bin.
Packet loss is observed for all the devices irrespective of directly connected or remote devices.
If i do self pinging, there are no packet loss.
I don't see any error on interface.
Can anyone please help me in resolving this issue.

  • High Packet Loss, High Ping and Slow Connection Ov...

    Hi There,
I have been a customer with the BT unlimited broadband package for a little under two years and up until recently have had no real issues with the service. This was until around 3/4 weeks ago I noticed that the internet was very slow and certain online games or applications like Netflix would lose all of its quality or stop completely. At first I thought nothing of it and simply reset my BT Home hub router, and sure enough everything was back to normal. However after around 2-3 hours of moderate use (gaming online or watching Netflix) the problem surfaced again.
Now I am lucky if I can get the entire way through a 40 minute TV episode before the quality drops and/or the service requires buffering. I have already contacted BT via the helpline and the service lady ran through the obligatory steps (turn off, wait 5 minutes, reset the home hub etc.) but she failed to understand that although rebooting the home hub does alleviate the problem initially, the symptoms of a slow connection, high packet loss and high ping always return within an hour.
Four the last couple of weeks I have been trying to investigate the problem myself and I have done the following things:
Tested the line using the master socket (no difference)
Opened the ports on my firewall within the home hub (no difference)
Directly wired in the computer instead of relying on the wifi (no difference)
Tested for interference from neighbours wifi using inSSIDider office (it wasn’t, operating on different channels)
Switched every device that requires internet off apart from the PC (no difference)
So with all that in mind I am fairly confident that it is nothing within my house that has caused a significant reduction in internet quality.
Now I have tried my best to display the problem I am having by recording the connection quality for the last 24 hours. The table below represents the condition and quality of the connection after leaving it a period of time without resetting:

I have also checked if the bell wire was attached and it is not. My socket is of the new type with the inclusion of an inductor on the faceplate. My ADSL filters and modem cable already have the middle connecting pins removed so I don’t think it is a wiring problem, at least in my apartment anyway. I have also searched for problems with the exchange and they are showing green for my area. (Liverpool Central)
I have just rang the quiet line and I do not appear to have any noise on the line. However, all I have is a cordless phone and I know that is not ideal for determining noise due to the radio frequency interfering with the phone speaker.
Again thank you for you time on this issue.

  • Ping Packet Loss across MPLS TE Tunnels

    Hello...Please Help,
I have a Single Area OPSF network running across 4 main routers via GigEth Ckts. The OSPF Network is working correctly. I recently implemented MPLS TE creating two Tunnels - One Explicit Path and One Dynamic Path. Two of the Routers also have a T1 Frame Relay Link over which the Explicit path is configured. It is up and woking but I am experiencing 50-60 percent packet loss when pinging between these PE routers. When I force it to the dynamic tunnel it follows the same FR path and experiences the same packet loss. There is no packet loss anywhere else in the network.
This is a Lab environment w/three LAN's Two 7206VXR & Two 3745 routers and Three 3550 Switches - one per LAN
    Suggestions?

Thank You for your response. The problem may not be an MPLS TE problem.
But would my "path-option" and "priority" being set the same for the Dynamic and Explicit Tunnels cause one tunnel to come up and the other go down and cease to signal. Right now I have one or the other working when viewed w/the "show mpls traffic-eng tunnels" command. If I take one down the other works.
The IPs are 10.1.101.1 & 2/30 respectively for the FR Link. That was a Typo...I have corrected it.
The FR interfaces are not SubInt's as the Serial Interface holds the IP address. These are strictly Point to Point but I have the "IP OSPF Network Broadcast" command set and OSPF going across them.
I have SubInt's set on the Gi0/3 Interface.
    Gi0/3.1 & 3.10 for VLAN's 1 & 10
There are not any drops when pinging from Within the routers "Interface to Interface".
But when I ping the LAN Node to Node or from within the Router "if" I do not specify an "interface source" I receive the drops.
The result is the same from either side of the Network on both of the 7206 Routers.
    Thanks, Kevin

  • WRT610N Packet Loss (Again)

I have been reading through the forums for the past few hours and and have seen others with this problem, but no clear solution.
I installed my new WRT610N (FW 1.00.18) and I am experiencing packet loss when pinging. When I ping from my laptop to an AT&T DNS Server (4.2.2.2), I get 20-40% packet loss. Also, the average ping time is about 15ms, but on every 5-6th ping, the time jumps to 1600-1900ms (sometimes as high as 3000ms). As an additional test, I also ping the router directly at 192.168.1.1 and I get the same poor results.
I have verified that the loss is happening between the laptop and the router. When I use the router's built in ping feature, I get good speeds and no packet loss to the same address.
-I have tried this on both 2.4ghz and 5ghz radios.I disabled each radio to esnure the test.
-I have tried disabling all security settings on the router (was using WPA2-Personal.
-I changed the Beacon Interval to 75, Fragmentation Threshold to 2304 and RTS Threshold to 2304 as other posts suggested.
-I have tried different channels on each radio.
-I went back and reinstalled my WRT54g and had no lag or loss.
I'm really stuck on what to try next. I also have one other small problem. Whenever I make a change to the router settings through the web interface, and I hit SAVE SETTINGS, my laptop loses the wireless connection and I have to re-select my wireless network.
Has anyone found a solution to what appears to be a somewhat common problem?

Thanks for your help. I tried a hard reset, and then a clean firmware install. The packet loss problem has improved significantly.
I turned of all security to perform the tests.
I am still having some problems maintaining a 5GHz connection, but I will try different channels, and going wide, to see if that helps.
    Thanks for your help¡

  • Linksys WRT54GSV4 causing packet loss? Wired or Wireless.

Hi.  I have been having trouble for months with my connection having packet loss.  Up until yesterday my results from www.pingtest.net were between 2%-6% packet loss.  Generally at 5% packet loss.  A technician came out yesterday and bypassed my DSL modem and ran that test and got 0% packet loss every single time he ran it.  So I bought a new Westell DSL modem off him to replace my Speadstream 4100 and away he went.
Now, when I hook up my Linksys WRT54GSV4 router to the Westell 6100 DSL modem, I get between 0%-1% packet loss.  It's never higher than 1% but usually is 1%.  This happens on my wireless laptops as well as PC's wired directly into the router.  The main reason this packet loss was affecting me in the first place was Xbox Live gaming.  Gears of War 2 kept thinking I was cheating, and it was host banning me.  Last night I got host and did not get host banned but that doesn't mean it won't ban me in the future for the minimal packet loss.
Any suggestions on why the router could be causing this packet loss when the Linksys router is invovled?  With a PC directly connected to the DSL modem I get 0% packet loss on that ping test every single time.
Internet Service: AT&T DSL (6.0 Mbps)
    DSL Modem: Westell 6100
    Router: Linksys WRT54GSV4

Try reducing the MTU value to 1365 and uncheck Block Anonymous Internet Requests under Security tab on the router's GUI...and check if it makes any difference.
If the above steps doesn't work then, try to upgrade/reflash the router's firmware, reset the router and reconfigure it from the scratch...Download  the firmware for your router and save it on the desktop. Now,On the Linksys GUI,click on Administrator tab to upgrade the firmware.

  • Loss of network connection with update 7.6.4

Since updating my airport to 7.6.4, I keep losing my network (Comcast) connection.  Restarting airport gets me back online.  Anyone else experiencing this problems since the update?  (OS 10.6., MacBook Pro)

Same issues here. Ping loss every 4th ping.
    found this thread > https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3482505?start=15&tstart=0
Suggested is to downgrade which I did .... result is no ping loss anymore.
    I downgraded from 7.6.4 to.7.6.3
I hope this also works for you!

  • How to quit ping in Terminal.app?

    Morning.
I've forgotten to set the -c4 in ping. How can I stop now the ping command in the Terminal.app?
    TIA and kind regards, Friedrich

Easiest is to create an "alias" in your .bash_profile looking like this:
    alias ping='ping -c4'
Now every ping command will only send 4 pings.

  • NIC teaming creates packet loss (Windows 2008 R2)?

I'm experiencing some packet loss to all of our VMs that we didn't have before we made some changes to our Hyper-V implementation (Windows 2008 R2). Most of the VMs also run 2008 R2 - with 3 that run Server 2003.
The host server is a Dell R610 with three 4 port NICS - two Intel quad port gigabit and a quad port Broadcom.
We us the individual ports of the Broadcom for host management and live migration - no problems here. We use the Intel cards for both iSCSI and VM networks. Calling the two intel cards “A” and “B”, and the ports P1-4 we've used AP1, AP2, BP1, BP2 (ports
1 & 2 of both Intel NICs) for iSCSI connections, and we've created a NIC Team with AP3, AP4, BP3, and BP4 (ports 3 and 4 of both Intel NICs). The team type is "Virtual Machine Load Balancing". We then created a Hyper-V switch based on this team
for use with all of the VMs created on the host. (as a side note: prior to implementing the NIC team, we just had 4 Hyper-V switches, one associated with each of these 4 ports.)
The 4 ports of the NIC team are connected to two different Cisco SG200 switches - AP3 and BP3 are connected to switch1, and AP4 and BP4 are connected to switch2 (in an attempt to maximize redundancy). The two Cisco SG200s are simply connected to the rest
of our network - each to a different switch within the subnet. There is minimal configuration done to the SG200s (for example NO
link aggregation); spanning tree is enable however.
My question is: can the network cables be connected to different switches (as they currently are) and if so is there some configuration piece (either on the switch or within Windows) that I'm missing?
What are the options here if this configuration is incorrect? The packet loss is in the range of 0.1%, but we've had odd spikes where a VM was essentially unavailable for a brief period (a few minutes) then returned to "normal" (0,1% loss).
Pinging a device (like the SG200 itself) or another physical server (for example our domain controller or the hyper-v host itself) results in essentially 0 loss; maybe one or two packets during the course of a 12 hour ping (this was the “normal” ping
response to VMs before we created the NIC team, so I’m quite sure this has something to do with it).
    Thanks in advance!

I believe when utilizing the Virtual Machine Load Balancing the ports must be connected to the same switch, stack, or chassis as the arp for the MAC could move.  I believe, although I could be wrong, that the outages you see is when the machine "moves"
between ports and the arp being updated between the two switches.
I believe you are looking for switch fault tolerance teaming which will allow for the failure of adapter, cabling, or switch which will achieve your goal of maximum redundancy.  This is achieved via spanning tree on the switches, which you indicated
    is already configured.

  • MPLS Packet Loss

    Hi,
I have an issue problem on one PE (PE-3), if I doing test from the neighbor or another PE to PE-3 using "ping mpls pseudowire <loopback PE-3> <VCID>"  and ping using vrf to PE-3 there is many packet loss, but ping test to loopback PE-3 is normal no packet loss.
anyone ever had an experience like this?
    PE-1#ping mpls pseudowire xxx.xxx.xxx.130 10001 repeat 1000
    Type escape sequence to abort.
    Success rate is 94 percent (278/295), round-trip min/avg/max = 1/3/48 ms
    PE-2#ping vrf TEST 192.168.9.2 repeat 1000
    Type escape sequence to abort.
Sending 1000, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 192.168.9.2, timeout is 2 seconds:
    Success rate is 92 percent (260/281), round-trip min/avg/max = 1/2/16 ms
    Ping to loopback PE-3
    PE-2#ping xxx.xxx.xxx.130 repeat 1000
    Type escape sequence to abort.
Sending 1000, 100-byte ICMP Echos to xxx.xxx.xxx.130, timeout is 2 seconds:
    Success rate is 100 percent (1000/1000), round-trip min/avg/max = 1/2/100 ms

    Gilang.

    Hi Gilang,
From description and diagram, Am I assuming right that 192.168.9.2 is configured on PE-2?. if so, I think the comparision should be between L2VC ping and ICMP ping to x.x.x.130.
Can you share the configuration from PE-1?. Do you have any CoPP or QoS enabled?. L2VC ping is not ICMP based and uses 127.x.x.x address as destination. So they are a bit different with L3 details in header (though it is a ping to same address).

  • Sudden signal loss..???

Very frustrating signal loss every 4-6 minutes with my Airport Extreme card in my 12" PB!
Using Linksys WRT54G wireless router. When I have a signal I get 10 to 15 bars then suddenly nothing! It spontaneously reconnects.
I have tried different channels, my SSID is set to "broadcast" and I don't have a 2.4ghz phone in the house and my neighbors are a distance away so other phones would not be a factor.
    What could be the problem?

Microwave ovens: Placing your computer or an AirPort Base Station near a microwave oven that is in use may cause interference.
No, it happens when microwave not in use.
Direct Satellite Service (DSS) RF leakage: The coax cable that came with certain types of satellite dishes may cause interference. Obtain newer cables if you suspect RF leakage.
I do have DSS but the system but it is brand new, a year old and was present when I had the other notebooks.
Certain electrical devices such as power lines, electrical railroad tracks, and power stations.
    None nearby
2.4 GHz phones: A cordless telephone that operates in this range may cause interference with AirPort communication when used. There are also other devices that operate in the 2.4 GHz range that could cause interference.
No 2.4GHz devices in the house.
Metal objects: If possible, move metal objects or change the placement of the Base Station so the path between your AirPort equipped-computer and the Base Station is free from metal objects that may cause interference.

  • "exchange upgrade" now i have 67% packet loss 24...

Following my local exchanges "upgrade" on the 26th of January, my internet is a complete waste of time, my IP profile has been cut in half, and i have had 60-67% packet loss no matter what time of day.
    Exchange is Hertford.
Loading even Google takes 3 or 4 refreshes.
"Customer service" in India seem to think the problem can be resolved if I renew my contract. Yeah right!!
So if this is a "care" forum, where is the care for me?

Having finally established that my packet loss was occuring from a BT server and despite over ten hours of calls to "customer help" in India, being repeatedly lied to, fobbed off, and read a script.
I finally got through to a very surprised somebody at BT wholesale who took the issue seriously, having spent over 13 days trying to get action, it got resolved in a day!
My packet loss ceased, however the reset to half IP profile remained, as did my throttled service, to the point I may as well have been on dial up, well I had, had enough!
I requested a MAC code and despite it taking 17 days to get it, not the 5 days as required by Ofcom, I am now free of BT.
My IP profile is reset to where it should be, my service is no longer throttled, and I am now paying only £5.99 a month with plusnet, for the service BT should have been giving me, my line rental is cheaper too.
BT have been a waste of space throughout this whole episode, with the exception of one guy at BT wholesale who was shocked I had managed to get hold of his number, and to give him credit intervened on my behalf when he didn't have too.
BT customer service in India is an absolute disgrace, they work from scripts, lie, obfuscate, prevaricate, are not knowledgeable on any subject, other than contract renewal.
I would rather die a slow and painful death than ever go back.
If you need to check your own line....you can ping it yourself to check for packet loss.
Ping, "pingtest.bt.net" and then traceroute each hop to see where your problem is occuring.
Doing a  "whois" on the "bad" hop's IP should give you a "real" world phone number for someone at BT wholesale to plead with.

  • High Pings, slow performance. Good line stats. P...

    Hi
I am suffering from very high ping times and variable download speeds.  I normally get about 15ms ping and 12-15Mb download.  I am currently getting 200-500ms ping times and 1Mb-6Mb download and significant packet loss.  Ping test gives me a server in holland as fastest server!
My line stats look fine - problem doesn't seem to be the local loop.
I swapped the ECI modem for a Hauwei from eBay in case that was causing an issue (and so I could access the stats) but it didn't improve things.  Any clue?  Do you know how to get to someone in BT  that I can have a sensible conversation with?  I am preparing myself for the usual long drawn out fight with the helpdesk and hours on the phone.
