Loss of Activation

The other day I found I was getting a constant "No Signal" indication. I thought, "Before I call support, let's reboot the phone with a cold start and see if that fixes it." After the reboot the phone asked me to connect to ITunes, I did and it said the phone was now activated. And all is well.
I've had the phone for about nine months with no other significant problems, but what happens if this occurs when I'm traveling? Can i carry a CD with my installation of ITunes, go to an Apple Store and become whole again?

If you didn't need to restore your iPhone with iTunes - only connect your iPhone to iTunes, carrying a copy of the iTunes app on your Mac wouldn't be of any benefit. Carrying a copy of your iPhone's backup would be of benefit in an extreme situation with your iPhone needing to be restored with iTunes if an Apple store was unable to create a backup for your iPhone before doing so. This would lose iTunes content and photos transferred from your computer via the iTunes sync process, but contact info and calendar events would be restored along with most iPhone settings, SMS messages, notes, and photos in your iPhone's camera roll - exluding any data included with your iPhone's backup that has changed on your iPhone since the last sync with iTunes on your computer.

Lasso tool problem, using alt key, no click within 5sec causes loss of active window focus

I have been using Photoshop since ver. 4 and have never seen this happen. The only difference is now I'm on Windows 7 64bit. Did not have this problem with XP. Current version CS3 Extended.
Problem: While using Lasso tool with the alt key if I do not make a mouse click in 5 seconds Photoshop's active window loses focus for a split second and then the first point of my selection and the last point will connect. Thus, wasting my time and my attempt at a selection.
I have task bar buttons to "Never combine". I see for that split second what appears to be another program button opening but it is so fast that I cannot see if there is a name on the task bar button. The current Photoshop button moves to the right and back too fast. This all happens very quickly as the window loses focus.
I first thought it was some another program but after many searches found nothing I can identify as the cause.
Right before posting this I had a thought and did a test that concluded in the 5 sec rule. For over a minute I held down the alt key and made a mouse click within the 5 second window of time and there was no loss of window focus. While still holding down the alt key in this same test but not making a mouse click within 5 seconds the window lost focus and the tool stopped with my selection.
I have a wireless Logitech M305 mouse that this morning updated the driver to its current version 5.20.51, Control Center version: 6.20.50.
I have not tested a wired mouse, yet.
Any help would be appreciated. Anyone else seen this? Windows 7 64 bit the culprit?????

UPDATE
After I removed Photoshop from Norton 360's Administrative Settings_Silent Mode Settings_User-Specified Programs, I did not have the problem with the lasso tool that I first had with loss of window focus. I then put Photoshop back in the 360's settings and the lasso tool still worked, BUT...............
After a couple of days of not using Photoshop and turning computer on and off in that time, I tried Photoshop again and the same problem, it came back. Loss of focus after 5 seconds of not clicking mouse. So, once again I open Norton and took Photoshop out of the User-Specified Programs and the problem went away, no loss of focus.
So, I will see if after a couple of days of turning on and off the computer and NOT putting Photoshop in the Norton's User-Specified Programs setting if the problem stays fixed.
I don't have to have Photoshop in the Norton's setting I just thought that it would be a good idea so Norton didn't try to do any background processes or whatever while I was working in Photoshop or I was rendering a filter or something.
Another thought I also have the Full Screen Detection setting ON. I do use Photoshop in Full Screen mode so maybe when having both the Full Screen mode and User-Specified Programs setting selected it makes something go wacky.
Hope this helps anyone having the same problem I "did". Will post back after a few days to let you know if focus problem is gone.
If it does relieve the problem then I will leave Photoshop off the list in Norton. No sense in trying to fix something that really doesn't matter, really.
UPDATE 2
January 8, 2011, I tried the lasso tool again and it still appears to be working. I did my standard test of holding the alt key and clicking to make selections then not click for 5 seconds or more and I did not lose window focus. I do not know why the Norton 360 setting triggers the loss of focus but since I turned that setting off I'm not having any problem.
Will update again if something changes.
Anyone else out there with the same problem that was solved using this method?

Wi-Fi packet loss + iMessage 'activation' error

I have two problems:
- Still having WiFi problems after updating to 10.10.3. This is REALLY annoying... When will there be a fix for this core problem?? Everyone is talking about this. When I do a ping to 8.8.8.8, I get a lot of packet loss (around 50%). Most of the time it's in blocks (5 minutes down / 2 minutes up). I tried everything: rebooting router, rebooting computer, adding/removing WiFi in Network preferences, added different DNS, added manual IP,... Other Mac's in the network do not have this problem... It's the operating system.
- I recently changed the password of my Apple ID, now I cannot login to iMessage anymore. 'Cannot Sign In to iMessage'; 'An error occurred during activation. Try again.'. I found a fix via Google, people advice to use Chameleon... But I'd like to rely on official support. This issue is around since Mavericks ...
C'mon Apple... Go back to the philosophy of Jobs' dad: “He loved doing things right. He even cared about the look of the parts you couldn’t see.”. Start fixing this annoying issues for the community!

If your Mac supports Handoff try to disable it and check if there is any progress: System Preferences > General > and disable option Allow Handoff between this Mac and your iCloud devices.
Also, go to System Preferences > Network and remove Bluetooth PAN/DUN if you have these options on the list of your Network Services.
After above steps, reboot your Mac and test it again.

Try this steps first: If you get an error when trying to activate iMessage or FaceTime - Apple Support
If above won't work for you, then i would suggest to create a separate thread for this issue. Otherwise this one will only get messy and soon no one will even look at your thread.

what do we mean by DR instance...or DR server... i want the abbreviation...

HI Sateesh,
DR means Disaster revocery.
As the name suggest this instance is kept as a backup for the actual production instance. If the current production instance is down due to any natural calamities(Fire, EQ, Floods) or due to any other disaster(Theft of the Hardware etc) the DR instance will be activated as the backup server and you can avoid production loss by this way.
Normally, DR servers will be kept in other geo location to minimise the loss of active instance and DR instance ( The probabily of a disaster happening in 2 geos simultaniously is very very less).
The settings should be done that both the active instance and the DR instance is in sync at any given point of time so that you can bring the DR instance up at any moment of time.

Kernal_task acting strangely

When i'm watching activity monitor, i've noticed that the process kernal_task addds to its own real memory. When i open an application, and then completely quit that application, it seems that some of the memory used for that application gets added onto kernal_task. So over time, the amount of memory used slowly increses. It also just seems to accumulate memory over time as well.
I was wondering if this is some kind of bug in activity monitor, or if there is some way to fix it. There is absolutely no performance loss when activity monitor says there is more memory being used than previsoulsy (ie: when i boot the computer, its using about 20% of the memory, and when i come back later its using 50%)

It's not a bug and nothing to be concerned about. You're seeing dynamic memory management at work. AM is allocated to a variety of types of memory uses, which can change dynamically.
If you select the System Memory tab in Activity Monitor, then hover the mouse pointer for a moment over any of the words in the lower pane of Activity Monitor — e.g. "Wired" — you will see a help tag (little yellow box) explaining that term. See also "Mac OS X: Reading system memory usage in Activity Monitor."
There are cases where applications have memory leaks, i.e. where their memory is not released after use. However, these are generally rare. One notices them usually by rapidly decreasing memory either (a) when a given app is running or (b) when repeatedly launching, quitting, then relaunching the app with the memory leak.

Resetlogs vs no resetlogs

I am in a situation, i have a old controlfile trace and the latest controlfile is lost. The old controlfile doesnt have the new datafile entries.So i am mounting the database with the old trace with resetlog option and then i will be renaming the unamed datafiles. What i want to know here is why do i have to use
ALTER DATABASE OPEN RESETLOGS;as i have already specified the reset logs option in the creation of controlfile.
I am confused as in when to use the Reset log and the No reset logs option.
Kindly clarify the same.

requires resetlogs.
1. Noresetlog is for manual recovery with cancel option used at the time of archive log apply.
2. Oracle uses noresetlogs when your database crashed and all files are available - this is automatic recover. You can also use noresetlogs when you restore a database using a backup controlfile from trace and all datafiles including online redologs are valid and the DB was shutdown properly (rare case).

I don't see that the vlan-group 20 has been assigned to module 4 (is this the ace ?). is this still not working ? Allse make sure that the ace vlans are defined on the chassis.

and i mean the phone would have been activated in the first place with the sim card you get given when you first get the phone.
trying to activate the phone with another sim card that you did not get when you brought the phone may result in you not being able to activate it

Lion falls asleep and breaks active connection to shared drivers. This is from Snow Leapeord that is reading/writing to a drive being shared by Lion. If I don't have someone present, moving the mouse on the Lion machine, the connection will die a horrible death and any data reading/writing stops in its tracks. Nice?

If the battery is dead the only way to find it is to physically look for it.

T500 performance loss and restart issue after low battery shutdown

Hi,
Some days ago I experienced a significant loss in performance of my T500. Unfortunately it seems to be a continuous loss and the games I play, e.g. empire total war that did run ok before are nearly unplayable at the moment.
Additionally, when the computer shuts down due to low battery, it no longer manages to resume windows but always crashs during reboot (black screen and hard disk symbol is moving, no other activity for 10 minutes)
I am working with the standard vista installation and installed all automatic updates, but also every time when I shutdown the computer, no matter how long it has been running (even after 1 minute and after a rebooting 3 minutes ago), the red shutdown symbol in start shows that an update needs to be installed.
any ideas?

Well, the problem, seem's to have reoccured: Battery ran out (even the indicator leds on the side didn't show any life), Time reset to 1.1.2001, again some rebooting and setting the time again...
Is this a sign of a degrading battery health status?
It looks like reseting the SMC didn't help after all.

Factory Unlocked on T-Mobile: iMessage & Facetime Both Verified As Activated But Do Not Work

Hardware: Iphone 4
OS: 5.1.1
Factory Unlocked
Network: T-Mobile (USA).
Hi all.
Like many I am having a problem getting iMessage & Facetime to work, however, the unique problem I seem to be having is that while both iMessage & Facetime report back that they are activated, neither work.
Anything attempted to be sent through iMessage fails to send. Standard SMS/MMS is only available. Iphone users attempting to send me iMessages are only able to transmit via SMS/MMS as well.
Facetime will not connect to anyone. Every attempt is met with an immediate "Call Failed." prompt on both my end and the Sender's end.
I am completely miffed as up until this on my other iPhone, a 3GS running 5.1.1 also on T-Mobile, there were no problems with iMessage or Facetime (unofficial tweak)
Thus far I have done the following which has yileded no success:
- Delink my Apple ID from iMessage & Facetime > Turn off Services > Turn off Phone > Restart > Reactive Services > Relink Apple ID > Reactivate and Verify iMessage & Facetime.
- Hard Reset (Power + Home)
- Change DNS to 8.8.8.8
- Remove my Apple ID > Turn off Phone > Restart > Reactivate & Verify iMessage and Facetime w/o linking Apple ID (Phone no. only).
I'm at a loss at this point. Does anyone have any other ideas? It cannot be a factor of Tmobile as Tmobile plays no factor in iMessage & Facetime ability, they are both network agnostic features as I understand. Additionally, both these features work on my 3GS.

At another users suggestion I:
Disabled both iMes & FT, turned off wifi, rebooted, and then enable both without wifi.
Waited 15 minutes to activate
No dice. They both required me to enter my Apple ID, gave the me the warning about charges for text message to activate, waited 10 minutes and again both reported as activated.
Tried sending an Imessage and it failed (both with Wifi off and then Wifi on). I have not tried Facetime but I expect more of the same.
As a final measure, I reset the phone, restored and re-activated which did not solve the problems.
Immensly frustrated at this point. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Email activity not working on Clients site

Hi,
I created a Bpel process that contains an email activity, It works fine when I am connected to the Oracle network through VPN and while i am in the Oracle office.
But when I am at the clients site or connected through VPN, it doesnt work at all.
when I configure my ns_emails.xml to Oracle's info, it works fine but when its configured to clients info, it doesnt work.
I have configured ns_emails.xml and wf_config.xml
This is my ns_emails.xml when I am at the clients site._
note:_ Since I am not using the Default domain for deployment, I changed the <Name> under <EmailAccount> to cdmsd since I am deploying my Bpel processes to the cdmsd domain.

could it be a network issue on their side ??
