Loss of animation when importing .swf to AE

I've made an animation in Flash (CS3) of a character who raises it's arm with a duration of 4 seconds.  I'm trying to add this animation over live movie footage by importing it to AE (CC 2014).  However, the animation is static after importing it.  The character is imported, but the animation is lost.

from After Effects Help regarding SWF import:
"Interactive content and scripted animation are not retained. Animation defined by keyframes in the main, top-level movie is retained."

    Hi,
I'm trying to create a bumper animation for my feature film. I started in Motion 3 created a simple animation and imported into FCP and flagged it for 16:9 but still comes ot as 4:3 when exported to Quicktime. Any ideas as to why?

Set the anamorphic flag. Click on you clip in the FCP timeline or browser and type ⌘9. Check the Anamorphic flag.

  • Poor image quality when importing SWF

I maintain a site for a photographer and as he added more
images the SWF got to be very large, so I split up the site and
used a main page to import the smaller SWF files into a target.
However, I found that all my clean crisp images become dull when
imported but still look sharp in the SWF itself. I tied to find all
the JPEG settings and push them up but still with no luck. Does
anybody have any insight to why this is happening?

    Hello micsaint111111111111,
The reason they look more blurry than in the original swf is
    that you are
dealing with dual compression from the original swf AND the
    swf you are loading
    the images into.
The easiest/best way to import your jpgs would be using
    LoadMovie to load
the actual jpg files. That keeps all the jpgs separate so
    your swf file will
be tiny. Plus the quality will be the same as the original
    jpg.
That said- have you gone into your swfs and changed the
    default image quality
on each of the images to 90 or 100? You do that in your
    library by right-clicking
on the actual images and then going to Properties and
    unchecking "Use document
default quality". That is one issue that a lot of people seem
    to miss and
it might help if you don't want to recode your Flash with the
    LoadMovie method.

  • Pie chart created in edge animate changes to a square animation when imported into dps

I Have created an animated pie chart in edge animate and all works fine.
I then import into indesign and again all looks fine (even though at this stage it is a flat image) but when i export for dps and preview folio etc the animation turns from a circle to a square.
Anyone have any pointers or experinced the same problem etc?
    Cheers

The top image is a screen shot from edge and what it should be like, and the bottom image is of when you preview it in dps
Also when i view this in browser via edge animate and then preview it seems fine and as you can see on the bottom image when i import the oam into indesign again it is fine but then when I come to preview my 'folio it turns the animation from a circle into a square.
Also if its any help, the animation works perfectly if exported by epubs and viewed through ibooks.
    Thanks,

  • Strange Problem when importing .swf

I have posted the exact files I am having this issue with. If
anyone is up for looking at them.
    So I have a Flash3.0 Project
    http://www.shieldcogroup.com/flash/mia_effects.fla
It has a masking effect and it looks like this.
    http://www.shieldcogroup.com/flash/mia_effects.swf
When I import it to a seperate flash3.0 project.... it keeps
the one part of a grouped symbol and looses the rest of the grouped
symbol... this leaves only 1 thing out of many that remains masked.
Not sure if it matter but the first shape I created is the one that
    it is keeping. The volleyball.
If it helps with the incentive it is picture of a hot girl..
So when I go to import
    http://www.shieldcogroup.com/flash/mia_effects.swf
    Into
    http://www.shieldcogroup.com/flash/mia_site.fla
It looses info.... any insight into this? It is very strange
    behavior.

I noticed that when you scrub the timeline in the .fla you
get a different result then if you run the movie..... how can that
    be?

  • Loss of quality when importing Mp4 files

When I import Mp4s into iMovie HD 6.0.3, the video quality suffers. And if there's any movement (panning/tilting) in the video, edges also look wavy once imported.
These Mp4 files are not from a camera. Rather, the original video was on VHS. I dubbed it to DVD, then ripped the DVDs, creating the Mp4 files (which look fine in Quicktime 7.4).
I'm hoping someone here can tell me if I can adjust settings somewhere so that the mp4 files will appear just in iMovie HD 6.0.3.

These Mp4 files are not from a camera. Rather, the original video was on VHS. I dubbed it to DVD, then ripped the DVDs, creating the Mp4 files (which look fine in Quicktime 7.4).
Lets see: VHS > mpg-2 > mpg4 - that is a LOT of conversion steps if you expect to maintain quality.
I tell people to think of each conversion step as a 'hammer' that 'beats' on your data because every conversion step costs you quality. I doubt there is anything magic you can do to your mpg-4 files.
The BEST thing for you to do would be to transfer your VHS images directly into iMovie. Many miniDV camcorders have a pass-through feature that makes this easy. My second choice would be to use something like DVDxDV or MPEG Streamclip to convert the video on the DVDs to DV video for use in iMovie.

  • Quality loss and blurriness when imported to iMovie from Sony Handycam

I have a Sony Carl Zeiss Lens 40x Optical Zoom Handycam. The quality is crystal clear on the camera..but once it is imported into iMovie, it becomes somewhat distorted. Please help! I need to upload this video to Youtube ASAP.. I'm already past my deadline. Thanks in advance

    Hi
Sony Carl Zeiss Lens 40x Optical Zoom Handycam - Yes but this referes to many different types.
    What Sony Camera do You use ? e.g. TRV-900E, PC-330 or ?
How was it set to record ? 4x3 SD-Video (as on old CRT-TVs or 16x9 or HD or what ?
My Camera can record to Memory-Card when in Photo mode - and these movies are in a very low quality just to be small enough to add to an e-mail. Can this be what You've done ?

  • SWF movies are not animated when the file's opened directly.

Firstly, although I've been using Flash on and off for years (since CS3) I don't use it very often so I apologise if my issue seems simplistic!
Basically, I used Flash CS3 for a few years to create basic animations for clients, involving simple scrolling text, without any problems.  Recently I upgraded to the CS4 Master Suite and then CS5 Master Suite within a couple of days of each other and I now need to use Flash to make a change to an old animation.  When I opened the CS3 file it appears as expected and I made the changes to the text (changing a word or two within a line of type).
When I right clicked on the type relevant frames within the timeline I noticed that there is now more than one version of tween available, and that classic tween was already selected (I think I better buy a new teach yourself Flash CS5 book!)
Anyway, that was allI needed to do so I initially pressed return and the text scrolled across the stage as expected.  But when I clicked on CONTROL / TEST MOVIE / TEST (or cmd+Return on my Mac) the SWF file that appears is static and the text does not scroll at all.  If I publish the movie using Actionscript 3 or 2 the resulting SWF file is also totally static.  But if I drop the SWF file into the relevant website folder and view it through Dreamweaver's browser view facility it works perfectly and scrolls just as expected.  Equally, opening it using the Opera browser works too.
I've tried altering the CS3 file and testing the movie in Flash CS4 and Flash CS5 but the same thing happens.  It's a bit time wasting and inefficient wanting to test an animation as a SWF file by double clicking on it and only being shown a static image.  Is this a well known problem as I couldn't find any mention of it during my search?
Thanks for reading and I'd really appreciate help resolving this issue.

    Update:
I downloaded the newest Flash Player and double clicked the problematic swf file again.  I was a bit surprised to see Flash CS5 start up and display the floating test window with the problematic static animation as before.  I closed Flash CS5, right clicked on the swf file and chose "Open With Flash Player".  The animation opened in the new Flash Player and was working fine.
So it appears that only Flash CS5 and CS4 are having the issue playing the test movie that was created in the very same program?

  • Loss of quality of photos when importing from iphoto to imovie

A question... When I import high resolution photos from iphoto and look at the preview on imovie HD, the quality is the same great quality that I can see on iphoto. Once I import the photo clip onto imovie, however, the quality is very poor on the imovie playback. This drop in quality is regardless of whether Ken Burns effect is used or not.
I already checked the quality on imovie preferences and it is already selected as the highest quality (default setting)
Any clues as to why the photo image quality should drop to such a poor image when importing a photo from iphoto to imovie?

    Hi L
There are a great difference on photos shown on a Mac with eg. iPhoto or
PhotoShop and what's going to video.
    a. Different resolution. Just the number of lines as the selected type of project
eg: PAL 4x3 = 625 lines ≈ same in pixles (But square not elongated or visa versa)
    b. iMovie "Viewer" is just an approximation. I connected my miniDV Camera
to FW and analog to a TV. Select in pref - Play back via Camera. Now I see
the final quality on my TV. Usally much better.

  • Swf's/flash,banners When Importing Into Dreamweaver Put Out Slices..

    Hi guys/gals
I think im doing it wrong or missing something, even have a funny feeling i might have to use some css? Not really sure.
My problem is after i have saved my move, banner - when imported into dreamweaver it puts all the slices out of whack ?
I cant find anywhere to import it into my photoshop layout, can't "Bring to front" in dream weaver <- ? :/
I have searched everywhere and I can't find with my terms what im looking for..I figure if nothing is coming up then im going about this
    the wrong way
Any help would be muchly appreciated.

    Hi
Slicing images from a photoshop comp and then creating a web page from them is never a good idea, and will present many compatibility problems for you. A better alternative is to use css based layouts, this does not mean that you must forget what you have done in photoshop just that the procedure is probably slightly more complex for someone who has not used css layouts before,
A good place to start would be the css basics tutorial then the, using css starter pages tutorial from the tutorials shown on this page - http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/css.html.
    (the 2 tutorials mentioned are - http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/table_to_css_pt1.html, and http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/table_to_css_pt2.html.

  • HELP my imported SWF

I have created an animation of a superman like character flying with the animation being his cape flapping, his eye moving occasionally, and he moves up and down slightly to imitate the movement of flight.
I exported that animation as a SWF movie.
I then opened a new document and then imported that SWF file into the library to use, but when I place it on the stage, the functionality doesn't work. The only animation that has carried over from the original file is the cape flapping. The moving eye doesn't work, and he doesn't move up and down anymore.
I'm quite new to animation in flash, so maybe I'm exporting and importing too many times or something, or I'm just not going about it the right way.
Should multiple animations be done in the same document? or should they be done individually and then all imported into a new document where they all come together?
All help and advice most welcome.
    Thank you.

First of all I done all the artwork in Illustrator, then I imported the pieces into Flash and set them in position, putting on seperate layers the parts that were to to move, eg. the pupil in the eye moving within the eyeball.
For the cape, I had done what you said not to do, but it's the only thing that's working, ironically. I made the flapping cape animation in a separate flash document using 5 different images and changing to each along the timeline every 1 second. I then exported the flapping cape as a SWF movie and then imported it into the flash file where the body of the character was and positioned it where it should be.
The eyeball moving occasionally was done using a motion tween, as was the gentle moving up and down of the man flying.
Then I exported ALL that as another SWF movie so that it was one animation (which actually included 3 different animations. 2 done in the document, and one imported SWF), but it's only the flapping cape that continues to work even if I copy all the layers across instead of importing the SWF.
I know that all sounds a bit of a mess to people who know how it should be done, but I'm a bit lost at the moment as I'm not sure which steps I should be taking and in which order.
Thanks for your help with this.

  • Imported swf

    Hi,
I am hoping someone will be able to help here. I have a
10-slide presentation in Captivate 3 and the first slide is a flash
animation I created in Flash CS3. When I test the project using the
preview option - In Web Browser everything works fine and as
    expected.
My problems start when I publish my project. I have tried
swf, exe, with and without preloaders; I add a blank slide in right
at the start to see if that was the problem again with and without
a preloader. The imported swf does not play no matter what I do.
After a while though the click button become active and when I
click it moves on to the next slide. I just need to work out why my
first slide does not play correct, as this is a key slide.
I would appreciate any help in resolving this issue.
    Kind regards

    Hi Dave
I know you have already found your answer, but I have a
    question and/or comment.
When you published, were you certain to include the
additional .SWF among the files on the server? If not, that
probably explains why it failed. By changing to Flash 6, you caused
the .SWF to be embedded inside the main Captivate movie, hence no
additional file to ensure you distribute.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Imported SWF with custom mouse

    Hello all,
I imported a swf animation ( Game), this swf uses a custom mouse. I guess they did a 'mouse.hide' in AS3. Is there any way i can reclame my original mouse after i leave the animation slide? Now when i leave the slide, my mouse stays hidden...

If this issue is caused by the AS3 in your SWF, you'll need to resolve it there. Contact your ActionScript developer and tell them you've found a bug.

  • Error when importing Flash

When I try to import .swf files into Captivate 4, I get the
    following error message:
The Adobe Flash File contains action script that references
'root'. This might cause the Adobe captivate project to work
incorrectly or to stop working. Do you want to continue to add this
file? If I click Yes, it places the Flash on the page but when I
preview it, it always appears at the top left corned - no matter
where I drag it. Any ideas?
The Flash files are various game files I have successfully
used in an html-based authoring application.
    Thanks.

It's because the code in the flash file you add is
conflicting with the code in the flash file Captivate produces.
Using _root in Flash animations imported into Captivate can
mean trouble since the _root in the imported animation is not
actually _root anymore - the _root would be the actual _root of the
Captivate movie. That opens up for a world of trouble.
My best guess would be that the games align themselves on the
stage based on some coordinates like _root._x and _root._y. Since
the _root is no longer the animation itself but instead the
Captivate _root that screws up things.
You would probably need to rewrite the code in the games in
order to get them to work.
    /Michael
