Loss of apps and major productivity due to 3.1.3 update

For some odd reason it took better than 12 hours to backup (I backup every few weeks using iTunes) before install of 1.3.1 (I have not jailbroken the phone). After completion, my massive, 10-page collection of apps were largely gone including some major productivity lost with the deletion of QuickOffice. iTunes now has a completely different assessment of my apps (listing less than half of what I had before starting OS update). Even Safari is missing.
The question is, how do I get back to my previous state with OS 3.1.2 and all of my previous apps and data intact (or are those irretrievably lost)? I've a feeling that a restore only puts it back into original purchase state and all apps will still be lost. Yes, I know that I can re-download at no cost, but its the fact that I have to remember all of the apps purchased and, more importantly, the lost productivity on my previous QuickOffice.
Am I out of luck here or is there a way to go back to previous state (not original purchase state)?

Apparently Apple got a lot of feedback from people that 'toggled' the "Image Tooltips" and couldn't figure out how to dismiss the cursor-tracking popup. It's now officially Cntrl-T. You can change it back or have it both ways by customizing the keyboard.
Aperture menu > Commands > Customize...
Tap the T key on the visual keyboard.
The lower right pane will show what's assigned.
Note that '^' (for the T key) is assigned "Image Tooltips".
If you drag "Image Tooltips" to the "No Modifier" slot it will offer to make a copy of the defaults.
Name the new set and modify it. It will appear in the menu you used to get 'here' as a Custom Command Set.

This doesn't make sense. You can register multiple, even non-Apple-ID, email addresses and their aliases with FaceTime.
So, maybe you can explain your problem better - what you want and the steps you've taken and what you have so far. If something doesn't work, please tell the exact error message, too.

There is no need to do that, I had the same problem pal! Just do this and all should be fine!
Delete one of the app's and re-install it, then for some reason everythign is restored to as it was!

Yes it should be possible deppending on your version of ios on your ipad. In the app store you can go to "purchased" and download any apps you've previously purchased. I'm not sure if this will also work for books or not. Also, if you haved synced your ipad to your computer, itunes will have all your data (books, apps, music etc...) and you can load it all back up.

The iCloud storage is meant for your backup, you do not get more space on iPhone.
You can by connecting to computer iTunes for update then you will not have space problem

You only get one download of music and videos and it is up to you to back it up. Music, videos and the apps themselves (app data is) are not part of the backup and is synced to your iPod at the end of an update. It appears the the apps and music were not in your iTunes library and thsu would not be restored to your iPod.

It is not asking what part of your country you are in, but what country/region you are in.

I just purchased the IPad 2 and now when I purchase apps from the App store it says waiting and then dissapears. I have checked for updates and all apps are undated as well as my ios 5. I have turned off the power and reset the system and still nothing.

The free apps and the ones I try to purchase will not download. I have updated all my app and the ios 5 have the most recent updates. The update bar on the app gets stuck on empty and then the next time I sync the app gets deleted.
It is really annoying to lose all my data when updating an app, and it has happend more than once!
Any idea why it does this? I am scared to update my favorite apps for fear that they could be deleted.

I never had an app being deleted. You can always udate the app on the computer and then sync.

I recently had a crash with my Macbook Pro. Hence I had to go back to my 1 year back TimeMachine backup. Which means my ITunes had to go back 1 year in time loosing all my downloaded songs and apps. Adding to this I connected my IPod Touch to my Macbook Pro. When the sync happened I was asked for the apple ID and password to sync my apps and songs to the ITunes in my Macbook Pro (I got a popup saying I had to authorise this computer else the data in IPod Touch would be deleted). I had to click on Forgot Password as I had forgotten my apple ID. Now happened the worst ever thing of all these. Most of the downloaded apps and songs and app data stored are removed from my iPod Touch too. Now even after authorising the computer I do not see the apps and songs which I had downloaded and moved to my IPod touch. I wish I had not synced my IPod touch after the restore from TimeMachine backup.
Now is there any way to restore my IPod touch to the same place before it synced up with ITunes of my Mac? Can i somehow get all the apps and songs and video files which had been present in my IPod Touch just before when I synced it with my Macbook?

Sorry for the delay in replying. I've not yet tried these.
I'm still depressed due to the loss of all that I stored in my IPod Touch. At least apple should have programmed it so that the apps and data get deleted only after getting a confirmation from me (only when I click yes). The current software programmed seem to be stupid because I just I clicked on Forgot password and that's not a crime so that it removes all the data.

Tap the i at bottom right then Settings > Deregister this device.

The Kindle app is so you do not have to use a Kindle. Yes, he can have a Kindle account and not own an actual Kindle hardware device.

I wonder if someone made experiences with this and found a remedy to regain lost applications especially if the tool to do so ordinarily is itself affected :-(
During a trip out of a sudden photos and videos made with the camera started to vanish as soon as they were once played or seen. Or to put it better they got corrupted. The respective photo application was still working fine with a memory chip, but not with the mass memory. There certain file folders contained rubbish - a hotchpotch of signs instead of somewhat sensible names. Among those affected folders where E:/Images/camera/... and E:/data there with j2me, Others and temp...
I could do nothing as any attempt to work on or remove those files was leading to a general failure message.
Some apps got lost, yet could partly be reinstalled by download! and OVI Store, which was cool as I was abroad for quite some time and could thus recover some workable status.
At home I reconnected the device to my Vista PC and after some initial failures I got a error repaired message when switching to the USB mass storage option. After this the system was cleared yet I lost any operation of download! which is despite the OVI store still of importance to load general tools and language and speech tools which I use frequently. Pressingthe referenced button simply gives a short flicker on the screen and that was it - no starting up of the application.
I have the latest firmware for my build 11.0.021 and yet tried as well a reinstall with the nokia software updater - in vain.
As I have a number of licensed software which I can only partly reinstall without new costs - Nokia please create a full backup tool securing all components as Ghost and Co. would do with any harddisk - I am keen on a minimal invasive solution.
I have not tried formatting as I dislike to loose the licenses and I will probably have to get the whole newly bought device exchanged, but this will lose any programs not registerable to a new IMEI.
So I prior to doing something unrecoverable I would appreciate any good ideas and hints.

Well, after performing a little more research, I think I know why this occurred. When the iphone crashed due to an app being updated via iTunes (I think it was NowPlaying), the Texas Holdem app was not selected in the sync applications tab upon reboot. When the iphone rebooted, I didn't check the applications tab and just re-synced. That caused the Texas Holdem app to be deleted from the iphone (and all the statistics as well). After playing a few games last night and then upgrading to version 1.1, my statistics were still saved.
So, this probably won't affect everyone but be careful when you sync to upgrade any app and make sure the app is selected in the applications tab first. It would probably help to also make a backup before upgrading any app and sync up iTunes with the iphone. This doesn't help me much but hopefully it will help someone else. Hopefully Apple will fix this issue very soon as updating any app shouldn't be this difficult.

You must first make the purchase, then you will receive the serial number you are asking about. YOu do not acquire the serial number thru the software. You acquire it thru the purchase, possibly via a follow-up confirmation email.
