Loss of images from Dreamweaver to Contribute

Hi
Using Dreamweaver 8 and Contribute 3. Created a template in
Dreamweaver and when I go into Contribute to create a new page
based on the Dreamweaver template none of the images, flash buttons
etc are there. How do I get my complete template to be available in
Contribute?
Thanks

Thanks for your reply
In edit mode the images, flash buttons etc don't show. When
published the page hangs and will not open correctly. Do images and
other bits associated with a Dreamweaver template have to be stored
in folders with specific names so that Dreamweaver knows certain
components of a template are always stored in a folder of a certain
name. Hope that makes sense? At the moment we have all components
of the template in the Template folder, I wonder if there is a link
that we are missing.
Thanks

Hi guys i need help! I have trouble with opening images from dreamweaver cs6(64bit) to photoshop cs6(64bit). I uninstalled and went to preferences/file types editors to set up ps6 as primary but I still get some error. After i click image in dreamweaver,I get this message-Unable to launch...Please be sure that application exists and that there is enough memory to run it..

Can you Launch Photoshop normally from your desktop shortcuts?
I usually keep DW and PS open at all times so I can switch back & forth.

There is a major color shift in my artwork image from the photoshop jpeg to dreamweaver - it gets 'grayed out', loses color contrast. I checked in Bridge and the color settings are synchronized. The image in photoshop is just like what i get from my Nikon D90 camera. The  grayed out image has also been noted by two of my professional printer co. which i use but one of my printers - Modern Postcard - the images in photoshop are perfect. I just need to know what causes the color shift and how to control/manage it, thank you, Kathyrn

I have noted color shifts as well and have come to a few observations.
When you are making a .JPG file and you are trying to make a color in that file be the same color as your website's background, you're going to get a lot of failures. Photoshop will add color information in an ICC file in the meta information in the file if you like. That tends to produce actual colors, but they do not fit a web gamut.
The way I generally deal with images that need high quality is that I use the Save for Web and Other Devices exclusively, either ticking on or off the ICC profile for JPEG files and working with what works best. Saving a JPEG with as much information as is possible is usually the best choice but, since JPEG is a "lossy" compression scheme, you are always going to get some issues.
Additionally, the web browser in question will have control over what is displayed as well.
So try playing with the ICC profile in Photoshop's Save for Web And Other Devices and see if you can't get things a little more reliable.

  • Taking images from Photoshop and taking them to Dreamweaver

Why is it that when i take my images from photoshop and save them for the web, that when i open them in my dreamweaver html file they have lost quality and saturation in the image?

There are 2 ways to do it correctly one is better then the other. The best way to bring an image into
DW is to first create a layer based sliced and the copy & paste it direc
tly into DW. When you do that you will get a Image optimize window, this is a built-in Firework image
optimizer it does a much better job a maintaing quality will compressing image size. The second optioin is to use the save to web feature. Tehy work the same DW/FW does it better. If your image quality still is not what you want play around with your optimization settings without seeein the image I can't recommend the best setting but play around in your 2up/4up window.

Probably really basic, But how do you create a pop up image
in dreamweaver (it's flash content of some sort I think) that fades

  • Firefox 3 displays the php code when pages launched from dreamweaver 8

The problem seems to relate to files opening as —
file:///C:/localweb/ .... when sent from Dreamweaver 8.0 to Firefox
The first html/php page loads correctly from dreamweaver as
processed HTML, a second page linked from either an HTML or php
page also loads correctly, but selecting any link from that or
subsequent pages displays the full php code instead of processed
html layout - so this appears to be a third level or greater
    problem.
    If I manually substitute -
    http://localhost/ — the problem
    does not arise.
This is a problem with version 3 of firefox, all previous
versions I used worked fine with both — file:///C:/localweb/
    and
    http://localhost/
Both prefixes also appear with pure HTML sites, but they load
    and function correctly.
Not every php site I have loads with file:///C:/localweb/, so
I am wondering if this relates to something in the php code or
    Dreamweaver - I have conn.php set to:
    mysql_connect("localhost", "root", "") or die(mysql_error());
I use winxp and have xampp installed - everything worked fine
    until I installed Firefox 3

    > but selecting any link from that or subsequent pages
You are being confused by a) not understanding root relative
    vs document
relative links, and b) not understanding how DW previews
    files.
If I have a document with a link to an image that looks like
    this -
    <img src="/images/foo.gif"...
    That's what's called a root relative link.
If I preview that document in DW, then the browser gets the
    document, sees
the leading "/" and reads that as the root of the hard drive,
    since the
browser has no idea where the root of the site is. Thus, the
    image is
    broken in the preview.
If I have temp files enabled, then DW will secretly convert
    the file being
previewed into a temporary file, and hand that to the
    browser. This temp
file has had all root relative links converted to document
    relative links
(as you will see by looking at the code in the browser), and
    has had all
include files actually embedded in the page, and has had all
    external CSS
and js markup embedded in the page. In other words, DW has
    made the
    document into a stand-alone page.
If you do not have temp files enabled, all of these links
    would be broken on
    preview.
Now - if you are using root relative links, AND you have temp
    files enabled,
AND you click away from the previewed document, then all of
    your links will
be broken, since DW has not made that linked file into a temp
    file. This is
    what you are seeing.
So - if you want to click away on preview, then you must use
    document
relative links for the site -
    <img src="../images/foo.gif"... (for example)
These will still work on preview since the browser knows how
    to determine
the current file's location and how to follow that path.
    Make sense?

  • Photo images from dig. cam [one is error and other won't open] questions

My wife inserted the sd card in the card reader and copied about 70 photo image files to the Mac. The camera that took all the 70 photos was a Panasonic DMC-LZ5 but I don't think the camera model matters much here.
For the first time, 2 of the many images seem to be corrupt. Mac X reports one photo image has an error while trying to open and reports the second image won't open.
My main concern is whether or not to just delete the two error/corrupt jpg images. My other main concern is that I don't want to keep the two images if it could affect or corrupt my hd or Mac system in some way.
I normally just trash corrupted files; however, in this case I went ahead and attempted to open both of the 2 troubled files myself later and they both opened up in Preview and didn't report any error or corruption. However, one of the jpg images defintely is corrupt when viewing it as the bottom of the image is definitely messed up. However, the other image now opens perfectly and looks fine to the eye as if nothing is wrong with it.
Here is a link to the one photo image that isn't quite right [note the obvious distortion at bottom of image]. Link is http://mysite.verizon.net/vzenvo78/question595.jpg
Further very relevant information: The SanDisk sd card that all the 70 images were on is a 1 gig card and the sd card seems to be a total loss. The sd card can't be initialized/formatted by disk utility and furthermore the sd card is no longer recognized by the Panasonic camera - the Panasonic camera won't even preview the images off the card or allow me to format the card even from the camera.

    Hello,
I see what you are talking about. I just discovered this same exact problem on a friends G5 after he uploaded pics from his Leica.
This is what I did: I ran Disk Utility from the system restore disc to verify and repair the drive. DU reported Volume Bitmap problems. DU was able to repair the disc. Next, I created a new user account and tried uploading the images from the camera to the G5 and it worked just fine. The images loaded like they should.
I also reinstalled the drivers that came with the camera.
Delete any files that your Mac reports as a problem. It's just not worth leaving them on the drive.
So...... run Disk Utility from your system restore disc. If it reports errors, hopefully DU can repair them. If not, one option is to get DiskWarrior here:
    www.alsoft.com or TechToolPro4 here: www.micromat.com
One other idea is how old is the card?
Next idea is to create a new user acccount: System Prefs/Accounts. Try using that account to upload the same images. See if they upload as they should. If they do, then the issue isn't system wide, it's just in the other user account.
Remember to always back up your images/audio/data often as you never know when you might need to do either an Archive or Erase and Reinstall.

  • Unable to Launch Photoshop CC 2014 from Dreamweaver CC 2014!

Although I still have DWCC and DWCS6 still on my PC - and the roundtrip editing from within Dreamweaver works flawlessly - it does not work with DWCC2014 when trying to get PSCC2014 to open an image for editing.
All I see is an error message stating:
'Unable to launch - please be sure this application exists and that there is enough memory to run it.'
Has this roundtrip feature been removed in DWCC2014? If so, why?
It works perfectly well on the same PC with earlier versions - but I would like to remove the two earlier versions to free up space.

  • How to prevent images from loading?

I am working on creating a web gallery in Dreamweaver CS3.  The thumbnails are in a horizontal strip within a layer above the full sized image layer, in other words the strip is  hiding part of the image, but only when the image is in a vertical orientation. (the strip has no background, so all that is visible are the actual thumbnails) Upon clicking show/hide text , in a toggle configuration, the strip fades, or shows.   On my computer it works perfectly. However, once uploaded, it takes forever to load the images.
The problem: Although I have the thumbnail images are set to preload,  all of the full size images are loading as well, which takes alot of time. Is there a way to prevent the full sized images from loading, i.e. only when the thumbnail is clicked?
Frames, in which one frame is thumbnails, and another the is images, is what I normally would use, and have a page for each image. However, for what I have in mind, it will not work (transparency on parts of one frame above another is as far as I can tell not possible).
So how do I prevent images from loading until called for?  regards~bill-o

t would help if you posted a link to the page, but I can guess that you have properly diagnosed the cause - the page is encumbered with the weight of all of the full-sized images.
The only way to not have this happen would be to dynamically write the link to the full sized-images on demand, as it were.  In other words, the link ISN'T EVEN ON THE PAGE until you have clicked on the corresponding thumbnail, and only at that point is the weight of that image experienced.  One easy way to do this is to use the SetText of Container behavior that is part of DW's native arsenal of behaviors.  When the thumb is clicked, the SetText behavior is called to write the image link into the enlarged image's container. Need to see a demo?  Look here -
    http://dreamweaverresources.com/tutorials/settextoflayer.htm
The behavior is called "Set Text of Container", and using it will meet all of your requirements.
To use it, you will have to have the following:
    1.  A page with a 'container' which is to receive the enlarged image - this could be a table cell, a paragraph tag, a div, or even a span tag.
    2.  That container will have to be identified with an ID attribute and a valid value, e.g., <div id="enlargedImage">.
    3.  A dummy page containing each enlarged image, placed sequentially on the page.
To implement the effect, do the following:
    1.  Open the dummy page in Code view, and select the first image's tag, e.g., <img src="images/foo.jpg" width="123" height="256" alt="whatever" /> (XHTML syntax shown here).
    2.  Switch to the actual page, select a thumb that will 'open' this enlarged image, and enter "javascript:;" (that's colon semicolon) in the 'Link' field of the Property inspector to make this thumbnail image a null link.
    3.  Apply the Set Text of Container behavior.
    4.  Paste the clipboard into the dialog for the behavior, and click OK to close the dialog.
    5.  Examine the Behavior panel to see which mouse event has been defaulted - probably 'onclick'.  If you would rather have this be 'onmouseover' use the Behavior panel Event selector (the dark triangle to the right of the event name) to select 'onmouseover'.
    5.  Repeat from #1 above until all thumbs have been treated.
Let us know if this does not make sense

Have you looked at your page with images disabled?
I urge you to re-think this approach to web design because images of text are not indexed by search engines, screen readers or translators.  Given the demographic group your site is targeting, you really need to ensure maximum web accessibility for all users.
Navigation, headings and descriptions all need to be in real text -- not images of text.
Ken is right.  Absolute positioning is pure poison for such a simple layout.  My advice is to start over with one of the pre-built Starter Pages in DW.  Go to File > New > Blank page > HTML.  Select a layout from the 3rd column and hit CREATE button.

I think I am happy with the Mysql,  and I have read the various arguments about storing images in mysql but for my purpose I wanted to store the image in the database.

    Hi Murray
You must despair with beginers like me,  attachments showed as having been
    sent so lets try again.
I have been able to find a tutorial  that works well all the way through, I
can even see the images in the browser!!  but only shows images individually
    on a page.
    http://www.phpriot.com/articles/storing-images-in-mysql/7
However, what I want to do is to have a page that links my images table and
another table,  all of which I have set up and is working other then showing
the images.  All was very straight forward until sorting out the image.  If
I can work out what to take from the above tutorial that works into my page,
I am sure all will be fab.
Storing them in the mysql was my preferred method as there are not alot and
they can be low resolution and I thought it would be fairly straight
forward!!  however finding out that I am having to adapt code as dreamweaver
doesn't support the blob attribute is getting me out of my knowledge.
    All the best
    Gilly

  • Drag and drop images in Dreamweaver

I've been meaning to ask this for a while. Cannot drag images into live view in Dreamweaver Cs6. Windows 7. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. This happens randomly on all three machines. What's causing this. This is one of those that you see countless people saying the exact same thing same thing, but no answers. Aggravating. Any help?

Well this is from the link you posted. I've been dragging and dropping in Dreamweaver for years, and I'm doing it now so I'm not sure what you mean. These are three of the options (from the article) for insert image. I restarted Dreamweaver and now I'm able to drag and drop...for now. It seems to be intermittent and I'm wondering what's causing it. All of my machines do this.
Drag an image from the Assets panel (Window > Assets) to the desired location in the Document window; then skip to step 3.
Drag an image from the Files panel to the desired location in the Document window; then skip to step 3.
Drag an image from the desktop to the desired location in the Document window; then skip to step 3.

  • Can I Stop my Images from being Copied from my Web Pages

On some websites I visit, it prevents you from right clicking on the image and saving it. A message pops up saying the image cannot be copied.
Would any of you kind folk know of a way I can stop my images from being saved from my Dreamweaver web pages?
Many thanks in advance for your anticipated help!

I asked a question. Hans was kind enough to give me a solution, and for that I thank him! I have also learned a little more in the process!
We have already established that the solution stops people right clicking on an image and saving the image (be it in Windows Explorer or not), but it has also been established that it is by no means a fool proof way of protecting images and that there are other ways of copying images from a webpage. However, it is another level of protection.
Unfortunately, I do not want to watermark my images as I do not like looking as watermarked images myself. I also downsize my images for the web. I was just looking for another level of protection.
    Thanks for the input anyway!
