Loss of Mail Action Sounds

Since downloading Yosemite, I have lost all my mail action sounds, including the "swosh" on sending an email.  Are these sounds not available with Yosemite?
I reset my mail preferences  to no effect.

  • Is there a way to "Automate" Mute Mail's Sounds??

    Hello all and Happy Holidays!
I have "migrated" to Mail from Entourage 2004 for quite some time now and so far I have no real major problems with it...
However, there is one thing I was hoping for: Is there a way to mute on and off Mail's sounds with just one single command or as less as possible?
I leave Mail on throughout the night till morning, and I do not want to be waken in the middle of the night with my 'incoming mail alert'
Right now I have to open Mail Preferences and then go to 'General' and select 'None' for 'New Mail Sound' and also uncheck the 'Play sounds for other mail actions'.
I have the shareware 'Detour' which is very good as it can handle the various volume and even mute apps like Entourage by clicking its icon from the menu bar; But because I understand Mail's sounds come directly within the System sounds, hence Detour (whom have replied me) has no control over System sounds.
So I am hoping, is there such an "automator" somewhere about doing this much easier?
    Thanks, cheers and Merry Xmas!

While a scripted method of doing so is probably likely,
and GMail does provide for attachments (multiples in
each email) to be archived to the desktop or other
place where you may be able to have them saved, an
attempt to get an answer from the GMail google team
may be a better route to take.
There should be a way to script a browser actions to
make this happen; but it would require experimentation
and time (if it has not already been done, already) to
get the details right. Someone experienced in recording
scripted actions may have already done this.
There are user inputs to google in their main site, as
well as some user forum type of Q & As. So that'd be
another likely location to inquire or look into.
Knowing how to archive from gmail automatically would
be a pleasant ability. I only use Gmail email accounts.
Hopefully an answer to this inquiry is forthcoming.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Mail alert sound doesn't stick

I chose a doorbell sound for mail notification on Mail, but half the time I get the old mail sound instead. It seems to switch back and forth. How do I resolve this? Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hola chicos, (OK guys)
Here’s a solution to the (simple) Mail Notification Sound problem that most people are furious over. Whether it’s plays a sound occasionally or not at all, clearly there is a bug in Mail which prevents it playing sounds alerting you to any incoming mail.
There is even a rule you can apply in Mail>Preferences>Rules called Play Sound which SHOULD play a AIFF file of your choice on receipt of Every Message. But I’ve found this not to work too!
So, here’s a workaround in 2 easy steps:
(You need an AIFF sound file. Got it? Good)
_*STEP 1 - Modify & Save this tiny Applescript:*_
Imagine I have the following AIFF on my HD.
    /Users/mrlinguafranca/Library/Sounds/doorbell.aiff
    A. Copy n Paste the following into the ‘Script Editor’ application on OS X.
    tell application "Finder"
open document file "doorbell.aiff" of folder "Sounds" of folder "Library" of folder "mrlinguafranca" of folder "Users" of startup disk
    end tell
    B. Change the parameters with the location of YOUR AIFF file
    C. Click ‘Run’ to test that it plays the sound file. (Success? Good).
    D. Save it somewhere and exit.
_*STEP 2 - Setup a Rule in OS X Mail*_
    1. Open Mail.
    2. Click Mail>Preferences>Rules.
    3. Click Add Rule.
    4. Set up the rule as follows:
Give the rule a meaningful description e.g. PlayMailNotificationSound
“If ANY of the rules are met” select (Every Message) from the drop down.
Perform the following actions select (Run AppleScript) select (THE LOCATION OF YOUR APPLESCRIPT)
    Click OK.
    5. Restart OS X Mail.
    6. Send yourself a mail and listen carefully.
Hopefully it’ll work for you as it works for me.
(If even I can think of a workaround, what are the guys at Apple doing?)
    Buen dia.
    Mr Linguafranca.

  • How to attach two files in the send mail action

    Hi experts
I want to attach two files in the send mail action . I tried using ; as a separator but it did not work .
    Regards,
    Antonio R . Rubalcaba

    Thanks Jeremy,
Yes I am contemplating the another threat .  I still want to send two files because the two files have very distinct type of information .  The first one is operational and the second one is about statistics .  Of course that I can send both type of inforrmation in only one file . I just want to save time to the end user and let him select what infomation he wants to see .
Thanks and my best wishes for you and your family ,

  • Mail's sounds don't work after the computer has awakened

This has been reported before for previous versions of OS X but, alas, it seems that the problem prevails in 10.9 as well. If the computer goes to sleep and then awakenes, Mail's sounds don't work. You have to quit and restart Mail. Any ideas how this can be fixed?

If you lose sounds for keyboard clicks, games or other apps, email notifications and other notifications, system sounds may have been muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the task bar. Double tap the home button and in the task bar at the bottom, swipe all the way to the right. The speaker icon is all the way to the left. Tap on it and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock rotation can be accessed via the task bar in the same manner as described above.
This support article from Apple explains how the side switch works.

Also look at Settings>General>Sounds and make sure that all sounds have been turned on. And Settings>Notifications - check the settings in there for FaceTime and iMessage.

  • How to use's mail's "perform mail action with message"

I can't for the life of me figure out how to use "perform mail action with message", I basically want to create a script that get's used on a rule from Mail, but nothing I try will work.
This is what I started with...
    tell application "Mail"
perform mail action with message msgs for rule theRule
    end
    end
This doesn't compile i've seen an example of it being used like this...
    using terms from application "Mail"
perform mail action with message msgs for rule theRule
    end perform
    end using
this also doesn't compile, so I'm not sure what it's wanting

This is one of those annoying things about programming - you have to arrange and spell things exactly right (this gets worse if you have fat fingers). You can look at the dictionary for Mail to see the specifics - in your example you are missing an "s" at the end of the word "message":
<pre title="this text can be pasted into the Script Editor" style="font-family: Monaco, 'Courier New', Courier, monospace; font-size: 10px; padding: 5px; width: 720px; color: #000000; background-color: #E0E0E0; overflow: auto">tell application "Mail"
perform mail action with messages msgs for rule theRule
    end tell
    </pre>

  • How to include Windows environment variables in e-mail action scheduled task

    Hello Support,
Is it possible to include Windows environment variables such as %username% or %computername% in the subject line or body of the "Send e-mail" action item of the Task Scheduler?  For example, I would like when I setup a scheduled
task to perform a certain task and send an e-mail message,  the email should include either the user name or computer name in the subject line and body of the e-mail.  Is that possible?
    Thanks

    Hi,
You can create a new Scheduled Task preference item to solve your requirement.

I created a scheduled task and that does not provide what I need.  The scheduled task will simple send an mail, but I want to know from which machine or user triggered the email.  I also tried adding the batch file to the scheduled
task and that did not work even though the scheduled task has the following settings.
User Configuration >> Prefence >> Control Panel Settings >> Scheduled Tasks
When running the task, use the following user account
    NT AUTHORITY\System
Run whether user is logged on or not
    Run with highest privileges  HighestAvailable
    Configure for: Windows 7

    HI,
For most apps the Alert Sounds are played by System Preferences > Sound Sound Effects where the volume needs to be high enough.

  • Mail alert sounds stopped working

    Hi,
About 2 days ago, the mail alert sounds for incoming mail stopped working. I double checked the preferences, and repaired permissions, still not working.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance.

I've had this happen intermittently. If you go to the mail alerts sounds selection and change it to a different sound and then back to the one you want it should reset it and start again.

  • "Mail send" sounds upon wakeup

Sometimes when I wake my Mac up in the morning, I hear several "Mail send" sounds in a row. This morning it was 15. When I go to Mail I don't see any activity, and there's nothing in my "Sent Mail" box to show for all those sounds. What's the deal? Is this a known issue? Have I been hacked?

    SusPup--
Have you set up automatic notifications in iCal?  I have that set to send me emails in the morning.

  • Outlook 2013 new mail notification sounds can't be changed

I've got a weird issue with Outlook 2013 on Windows 8..  I've read several other posts that are kind of similar but they don't really apply.
So, Outlook 2013 uses the "Desktop Mail Notification" sound event..  unless I change the .wav file assigned to that event.  Then it instead uses the "New Mail Notification" event.  Then when I change the .wav file assigned
to THAT one, it changes again to instead use the "Notification" event.  Then when I change the .wav file assigned to "Notification," Outlook just won't play anything at all when receiving new mail.  It just flat refuses to use
anything but the default .wav files.
Has anyone run into this before?

    Hi,
To change the new mail notification sound, please try the following:
    1. Right click the sound icon at the right bottom to open the sound settings.
    2. Under the
Windows section, change both the Desktop Mail Notification and New Mail Notification
events to have the same .wav file for the sound you want played for them.
    3. Then click OK to test the result.

  • BLS Send Mail Action Block Requires SMTP Mail Server Mail Account

My SMTP Mail Server does NOT require authentication.  It appears as if MII Ver 12 requires a mail account to be filled in on the BLS Send Mail Action Block.  If the mail account field is left empty the transaction fails (error - mail account cannot be blank).  Transaction works without the mail account on Ver 11.5 but Ver 12 requires the field to filled in.  Please advise whether this is a new requirement in Ver 12 or a bug that needs to be addressed.

    Hi Sam,
What I think is, it requires one mail account to send the mail and one to receive it.
There is no restriction on receiver that can be anyone. But the sender needs to be known that some mail has been sent from his mail account. So may be because of this the added authentification is required. It will use that mail account to send the mails.

  • HT1146 I want to hear the mail notification sounds. How can I get the sounds to stay active?

I am unable to keep the mail notification sounds on mail. No message notification, nothing. I have already had two consultations with mac service personnel. Any suggestions?

I also wanted to know, if I can assign my JV1080 to the audio Instrument tracks & manupilate both sound source. WOW that be great if Logic Pro can do this.
If you mean play them back with the same MIDI information, and have the MIDI channel set up to control the external JV1080, yes you can. But if you mean control the Audio levels and such, I would recommend bringing the JV1080 back into logic on a Stereo input and grouping it with the Audio Instrument.
I have the o/p of the md player going into tape i/p of the mackie 1202- VLZPRO.
I believe the Tape inputs of a Mackie board goes straight to the output faders. Try another set of inputs.

  • Error in Read Mail Action Block in MII

    Hi All,
I am getting the below error while trying to connect to the server.
INFO : ReadMail: Connecting To: xy.abc.com
[ERROR]: ReadMail Error: Connect failed; nested exception is:
         java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused
ERROR: ACTION FAILED: End Action ReadMail_0 :
But with the same credentials I am able to send mail from MII using the Send mail action block.
Mail Account and Password parameters are properly maintained.
I have tried this with both available Protocols POP3 and IMAP4 with respective port numbers.
Also tried with default Port as 110, but still facing same error.
Did any one faced this problem before?

    Hi All,
Still this problem is not resolved. I have tried reading mails with same credentials from other clients which gives correct output. Whereas Read Mail Action Block in MII is not giving any output and gives above mentioned error.
Kindly help me on this issue.
    Thanks in Advance.
