Loss of media added to theme after theme change

Hi All,
I have noticed that when I create a new project and set up the theme, buttons, audio etc. and then decide to change themes to see what another one might look like I can't go back to original theme without lossing all the media I had added. It's easy using Edit Undo in the menu to revert back to the original theme, but you don't get the pics, audio etc that you had before. Buttons are ok but otherwise it's blank. Only thing I have found to work is to save the project before trying a new theme. You can then close the project without saving and reopen it to get your original setup back.
Any one know of a better way to do this?
G4 Dual 1.25 MDD   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

Well the saga continues. First as to your questions, I have no third party themes and I did check in Font Book to make sure there were no duplicate fonts. I also ran Onyx and cleaned the user caches. Ran permissions again and also deleted the iDVD plist file in ~/Library/Preferences. I also tried a new user and that user also had the problem. I compared the iDVD package files between the two drives and they are identical except that the bad HD package has only Eng lproj files in the frameworks directories while the other drive has the other languages. Don't see how this could be a problem.
I have determined that the problem only affects background pics and sound. Drop zones come back okay but background pics and sound come back with the theme default. Not sure of anything alse to try except reinstall iDVD.

    How do I get my web pages back to original size? My fonts are all too large and keep reverting after I change them back!

    That has not worked. I do it and still it reverts. Isn't there a way to tell Firefox to just go back to default settings?

  • Third-party cookies: Should I be concerned that I am forced to accept in order to access a site, if I delete them after every Firefox session?

    Friday 16 August, 2012
    My internet service provider (https://my.gci.net/) blocks my entry to eMailGuard (a GCI spam and virus isolator) when I have third-party cookies disabled
    When I allow third-party cookies I am able to access eMailGuard. I have used GCI eMailGuard and Firefox together for years and have had no such difficulty in the past.
    This problem commenced 2-3 weeks ago.
    I have followed all directions at http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/websites-say-cookies-are-blocked-unblock-them to clear all cookies and cache, with no change. Also, my default setting (see below) is to “Clear history when Firefox closes.” If I understand correctly, clearing history will also clear cookies and cache, so I do it every time I close Firefox.
    Has Firefox changed third-party cookies parameters recently? GCI of course claims this is a browser issue. Should I be concerned about third-party cookies if I delete them after every Firefox session? Any comments or thoughts are greatly appreciated.
    My current version is Firefox v.14.0.1
    My Privacy settings are:
    • Tools\Options\Privacy
    • Use custom settings for history
    My selected (checked) custom settings are as follows:
    • Remember my browsing history
    • Remember download history
    • Remember search and form history
    • Accept cookies from sites (third-party cookies not selected)
    • Keep until: I close Firefox

    ''Keep until: I close Firefox''
    That's what I use for all cookies. If you start a new session every time you start Firefox, i.e., you don't resume the same session over and over, websites cannot track you 'across sessions' using cookies; you are a new person to them during each session (unless/until you log in).
    Note that "Flash cookies" need to be managed separately.
    As for this particular site, if you want to spend some time research it, you could install an add-on such as Firebug or the external Fiddler2 proxy. Both will show you each request made by the browser when you load a page. Then you can see which third party sites are involved and if you like make a specific entry to allow them in the Exceptions dialog.

    * http://www.fiddler2.com/fiddler2/ (more difficult to use for HTTPS sessions)

    My Mac Mini (v10.6.8) does not acknowledge my iphone as a device in iPhoto, Image Capture, iSync or Preview although, iTunes does.  I am at a loss for importing photos other than emailing them to myself. Same problem with my iphone 4, iphone 4s, ipad2 and New iPad. Is this a problem with OS X 10.6.8 as I read some posts claim? Please help.

    I was able to import photos in iPhoto and Image capture when I was running SL 10.6.8 on my older MacBook.
    Did you try quitting everything, restart the Mac and then try again?
    Are there any updates at all for the Mac? I was helping one user not all that long ago and there were updates for her Mac software that had nothing to do with the OS and when she downloaded the updates - the iPad was then recognized in iTunes.

  • My 24" iMac won't read audio cds--ejects them after about 15 seconds

    My 24" intel iMac won't read audio cds. It ejects them after about 15 seconds. I have virtually never played cds on this machine in five years. It plays dads with no problem. Anybody have any feedback. I also saw a fix by deleting some presence files.

    I saw this on a forum from about four years ago:
    Trash the following folders:
    com.apple.kernelcaches (from System/Library/Caches
    extensions.kextcache (from System/Library
    CDInfo.cidb (from Home/Library/Preferences
    Restart
    Could this be a fix.
    Unfortunately, I can't reset PRAM. I've done it a thousand times over twenty years,but my machine simply boots up without the extra chimes.

  • [SOLVED] Files in /etc with a dash after them (e.g. /etc/group-)

    Hi,
    What are the files in /etc with a dash after them? For example, I have:
    /etc/group
    /etc/group-
    /etc/gshadow
    /etc/gshadow-
    /etc/shadow
    /etc/shadow-
    What are the dashed versions for? Do I need to keep them?

    AFAIK, they are a backup of the previous copy of the file (eg, passwd- is what passwd was before the last change). They are kept because they are such important files. You can delete them, but backups are a "good thing"™.

  • Probs with adding network and topology themes

    Hallo everybody,
    I wanted to add my network and topology data with the following sql-code
    INSERT INTO USER_SDO_THEMES VALUES(
    'THEME_DEMO_NETWORK',
    'Stromnetz Netzwerkmodell',
    'STROMNETZ_NW_LINK$',
    'TOPO_GEOMETRY',
    '<?xml version="1.0" standalone="yes"?>
    <styling_rules
    theme_type="network"
    network_name="STROMNETZ_NW"
    network_level="1">
    <rule>
    <features>
    <link
    style="C.RED"
    direction_style="M.IMAGE105_BW"
    direction_position="0.85"
    direction_markersize="8">
    </link>
    <node
    style="M.CIRCLE"
    markersize="5">
    </node>
    </features>
    </rule>
    </styling_rules>' );
    INSERT INTO USER_SDO_THEMES VALUES(
    'THEME_TOPO_NSLA',
    'Topologie fuer NSLA',
    'NS_LEITUNGSABSCHNITT_TOPO_TAB',
    'POSITION',
    '<?xml version="1.0" standalone="yes"?>
    <styling_rules theme_type="topology" topology_name="STROMNETZ">
    <rule>
    <features style="C.RED">
    </features>
    </rule>
    <styling_rules>');
    The rows are added to the user_sdo_themes but when I click on the network theme in the definition tool I get the error-message: No style attribute in row 1 is found. Only the valid elements are shown in the table. And there aren't any rows in the following table. What is wrong?
    When I add my topology theme to a map where I already have 2 other themes in the data of the topology theme isn't displayed.
    Both network and topology are valid.
    Another question is ... can there be problems by using the following char ' and that char " I took the code from the Mapviewer documentation and there are these different chars used.
    I have two different users spatial and scott. In both users I have imported the mvdemo so I have in both the same styles metadata. I needn't to define the style for my network like "SPATIAL:C.RED" or something like that? At the moment I only work with user spatial.
    Hope somebody can help. Thanks
    Katrin

    Hallo Daniel, hallo Joao,
    thanks for your reply. I have tried with SPATIAL:C.RED but I think my error is that I have created the map with the topology theme/network theme (I have posted before) with the Map Definition tool. Could that be the error?

    Sorry for this long post.

  • Captured files have just -a or just -v after them, behave strangely

    I've noticed that sometimes when my files are interrupted in capture, they will have the suffix of -av. If a file finishes capturing normally, however, it removes that suffix and just gives it the name I type into the Capture settings at Log and Capture.
    Recently, however, it started just putting -a at the end of the files, and not removing it, even if everything captured correctly. If I attempt to remove the -a from these files, or rename them in any way, they show up just as audio when I bring them into Final Cut. If I don't touch them at all, they have the video, but if I attempt to modify them in any way, or move them, they just show as audio (even though they are massively sized files, and should have video in them). If I try to bring the files into a new project, they will also ignore the video.
    I've looked at my Capture settings in all the places I can find, and it looks as though it should be capturing both audio and video. I don't know why this suffix has started permanently appearing, especially as -a and not -av.
    Today I turned the computer on, looked at the project again, and now all the filenames have changed - they all say -v after them. Surprise, surprise - if I open them in Quicktime, they have no sound. What is going on here?
    Does anyone know why this would be?

    You're right - the "capture audio and video to separate files" option was turned on. Turning it off solved the issue.
    Thank you very much.

  • Re-Importing favorite themes after reinstalling iDVD

    I am at the point where I feel I may need to re-install iDVD, my only hesitation is that I have some themes saved as favorites, that I really don't want to trash. It's not the end-of-the-world if it comes to that, but I was wondering if there was a way to re-import them after re-installing. I see that they are stored in a favorites folder in an application folder in my library.

    Have you tried deleting their preference files, as well as a bit of basic maintenance?
    Go to Disk Utility (this is in your Utilities Folder in your Application folder) and click on the icon of your hard disk (not the one with all the numbers).
    In First Aid, click on Repair Permissions.
    This only takes a minute or two in Tiger, but much longer in Leopard.

    By the way, you can ignore any messages about SUID or ACL file permissions, as explained here:

    If you were having any serious problems with your Mac you might as well complete the exercise by repairing your hard disk as well. You cannot do this from the same start-up disk. Reboot from your install disk (holding down the C key). Once it opens, select your language, and then go to Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Select your hard disk as before and click Repair.
    Once that is complete reboot again from your usual start-up disk.
