  • T410 loss of network connectivity - Packet Scheduler Miniport driver

    Hi
Our organisation has recently received its first shipment of T410 laptops. After installing our XP SP3 build we're experiencing an issue whereby the laptops are working pefectly, but after a shut down, the next time the device is powered on network connectivity is lost. In device manager, adjacent to each network adapter device, a new device appears for 'Packet Scheduler Miniport' and each of these has a yellow exclamation mark indicating the device us unavailable.
Rebooting the laptop sometimes resolves the issue, the packet Scheduler Miniport devices disappear from device manager and network connectivity is restored. However, after a subsequent reboot the problem returns. We've tried reflashing the system BIOS but affected machines have the most recent version (1.25, 07/03/2010). We've also tried downloading the relevant network driver directly from intel and installing to no avail.
We've been unable to spot any pattern to the fault occuring, it appears to be completely random. has anyone else experienced similar issues with an XP build on the T410? My searches have brought up similar issues relating to the Packet Scheduler Miniport but nothing specifically in relation to the T410. It's worth noting our build for the T400 contained the same application suite and we haven't had a single issue like this throughout the life of that model.
Any help on this is greatly appreciated
    Thanks
    Solved!

Hi I just found your posting regarding the same exact issue I had. The way around this issue is to go to device manager select the Intel adapter for lan and un install it but without removing the application just uninstall the drivers when finish click on scan for new devices and when done you will have a connection it seems like some of the windows 7 libraries clashes with the adapter libraries and fail to acknowledge one to the other.
    Hope this helps

  • Loss of network connectivity at random times to guests and now hosts Server 2012 R2 Hyper-v on Dell R620...Guests virtual disks reside on a NAS.

We have set up 2 Hyper-v environments (Server 2012 R2 fully updated) on Dell R620's. The guest machines are configured do that they reside on a NAS (also a Dell R620 with server 2012). We are having an issue on both the environments where the guests will
lose network connectivity. The servers ran well for about 4 weeks and recently the guests started having issues and we have even had to reboot the host due to network connectivity problems.
We have 4 virtual switches set up. 1 connected to its own NIC. 1 for management and the 3 others for guests.
The 3 for guests are not configured to allow host OS sharing.
We do not have IP addresses on the NICS for the guests. Only on the management port. (all 1 GB NICS)
We have updated the firmware and drivers for the standard Broadcom Netxtreme cards.
We do not have Jumbo frames enabled because of some issues with switching compatability.
I've seen articles recommending to turn off TCP offloading and to disable virtual machine queues. Is this best practice?
Any thoughts of where I might look to help diagnose this issue?

    Hi ,
"1 connected to its own NIC. 1 for management and the 3 others for guests."
Also you mentioned that : " is only hosting these 24 VMs ".
First please try to disable the RSS in the property of the NICs for guests .
Then run powershell " Get-NetAdapterVMQ " to check the parameter "NumberOfReceiveQueues"  (NumberOfReceiveQueues – The number of queues that the NIC has available to use and assign to VMs,
the host and a default queue) .
If I understand correctly ,when you enable VMQ  the number of connected VMs on that NIC should not be more than the value of  "NumberOfReceiveQueues" -2 .
For details please refer to following link:

    Hope this helps

  • Message loss during network connection reset

We are planning on using Oracle streams for async notifications between the database and our Java application. While testing for some edge cases we are running into the following issue.
    1) Start Java code(Waiting to dequeue message) -> disconnect network -> queue new message(using SQL) -> connect network ==> We are loosing the message in this scenario, even if we restart the listener the message would not show up.
    2) Start Java code(Waiting to dequeue message) -> disconnect network -> connect network -> queue new message(using SQL) ==> This scenario works.
DB stores messages if the listener is not running, but if we start the listener and disconnect network connection somehow the database thinks it delivered the message.
Also is there any way to stop blocking dequeue call during connection drop, database shutdown/restart?
We are using the point-to-point model, messaged is enqueued from a trigger that gets fired on insert/update to a particular table and we have a MessageListener that Uses Java API to dequeue the message. This code works fine during normal operation.

AQ uses persistent storage in queue tables so the first thing to do is see if the messages got into the table.
If they did what is the status? If not the issue is likely that your code never got the messages to the database.

  • Loss of network connectivity

I have a Macbook that is just over a year old.
My wireless connection infrequently hangs, and i have to either restart my router (Belkin 54g) to get it going again. I cannot reliably recreate the hanging, but it does tend to happen when I am downloading large files or watching streaming video - the other day I had to restart my router 6 times just to check my email!
As I say I tend to notice the problem either downloading podcasts or other files through safari by noticing the throughput falling. The way I confirm i have a problem is to open Safari - I try to connect to a reliable website (such as news.bbc.co.uk) and the the blue progress bar stops after the " http://" - eventually timing out with an error of "Safari Can't connect to the server."
I have tried restarting my Macbook, enabling disabling my airport connection, but it made no difference. The only way I could it it going again was to reboot my router. So presuming it to be a problem with the router I replaced it.
I obtained another router (Linksys N) and all seemed ok initially but even that has now shown the same problem. Trying to download a file this week I discovered I could nudge it a long by switching between the 2 different wireless networks/routers now have to download the file.
I have tried clearing out system cache's, deleting and recreating network connections, even reinstalling OS10.5 (but keeping user accounts), and it still seems to be happening.
I have run Apple hardware test, and no errors have been found.
I've checked my log files but nothing seems to stand out as being a problem, but i don't really understand what I'm looking at!
Unlike other reports, my network connectivity and signal bars are all ok - I can even connect in to the router console, but i can't connect out to the internet.
Does anyone have any ideas please? What can i look for in the logs ? Is there someway to check to see if its a problem with my built in Airport card?
    Thanks in advance.

    You have my sympathies....
A few things I guess but not necessarily in this order or everything:-)
-Removed non Alpha characters from my SID
-Changed the cable from my modem to my router
-Reset my Modem and checked all other connections
-I gave my account Admin permissions while I running updates and tidy ups (which reminds me I must change it back)
-The tool I used to clear caches etc was a freeware download called Onyx (http://www.titanium.free.fr/pgs2/english/onyx_leopard.html) based on a recommendation I heard in a podcast - take backups and use at own risk
-Minimised the channel clashes with other routers and switched other wireless devices/routers off that could conflict.
-Tidied up any dead or unnecessary connections in Network System Preference panel, and made my Network to the top!
-Installed update to iStat Pro 0 you might try un-installing and reinstalling
    Good luck

  • Intermitent Loss of Network Connectivity

Lately, some users in our network (a gigabit switched network) have been experiencing intermitent loss of connectivity to their network servers/resources. The message reads: "The connection to the remote computer was broken. This may have been caused by a network error...."
A review of the core switches'logs revealed nothing out of the ordinary and CiscoWorks logged nothing. Does anybody know what else I might be missing here in trying to troubleshoot this problem??

Mparek is on the right track here, check the logs on the server that you are getting the error connecting to. It MIGHT be the network, but often it is the server, either being too busy to respond, or having a malfunction of some type. If it's on a broad range of servers, check the switch closest to that block, but check the pc's first.

  • Loss of network connection with update 7.6.4

Since updating my airport to 7.6.4, I keep losing my network (Comcast) connection.  Restarting airport gets me back online.  Anyone else experiencing this problems since the update?  (OS 10.6., MacBook Pro)

Same issues here. Ping loss every 4th ping.
    found this thread > https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3482505?start=15&tstart=0
Suggested is to downgrade which I did .... result is no ping loss anymore.
    I downgraded from 7.6.4 to.7.6.3
I hope this also works for you!

  • Loss of network connectivity after reboot

I'm new to Macs, so please excuse any ignorance. I'm trying to finally get my G5 on my wireless network. I have an airport card installed and I can successfully connect to my wireless after I enter the network name and WEP key.
However, if I reboot the computer, it seems to forget all this information. If I want to get back online, I have to enter the network and WEP info again, as if it was a new network every time. Needless to say, this is very annoying.
If anyone has any ideas what I may be doing wrong, I would be very appreciative. I had always heard Macs were insanely user friendly, so I'm shocked at how much trouble I'm having. I have to think that I'm just doing something wrong. Please help!

In network preferences, add your network's name to your list of 'preferred networks', and set it to automatically connect to servers in your preferred list.

  • Does editing a pre-fix set for bgp in IOS-XR cause a loss of network connectivity

    Hi,
I have to edit an existing prefix-set for bpg in ios-xr.  When I went to do it the first time it told me it would wipe the existing information so I aborted the change.
I have since read that you need to redo the whole list and add the new network you want.
    For example.
    existing
    pre-fix set TEST
    10.10.10.0/24,
    11.11.11.0/24
    new
    pre-fix set TEST
    10.10.10.0/24, 11.11.11.0/24, 12.12.12.0/24
    1st) is the above correct?
2nd) when this is done will there be any drops in connectivity?
    Thank you.

    1) It is correct, when you create the new prefix-set with the same name as the old one, it overwrites the old one. Meaning that, it wont "append" to the old config, it creates a new prefix-set from scratch
    2) Depends on where are you referencing the prefix-set. For example, on BGP route-policy, there wont be any drop on BGP connectivity, you might even have to do a soft refresh in and out to refresh the advertised/filtered routes

  • XP Mode in Windows7 Professional Drops Network connectivity

Ok - I've seen and followed several (5+) discussions on this problem dating back 4 years through Vista, but no one seems to have posted a definitive question.  I've been rolling out Windows 7 for over a year now and have been following the same procedure
and installing the same apps to the same configuration without issues until this week,  I now have 2 boxes doing the same behaviour.
    Environment:
Workstation is a PowerSpec B634 with Intel motherboard, using onboard RealTec NIC.  Windows 7 Professional, with Microsoft's Virtual XP vhd.  They are connected only via the ethernet NIC (wireless is disabled) on a 1GB connection.  I've moved
the port on the switch they've been connected to and switched both the patch cable at the rack and the ethernet cable at the workstation.  And, as I've said I'm seeing this behaviour on 2 separate boxes.
    Behaviour:
Unit boots flawlessly and I've not seen any connection issues on the Windows7 side of the world (i.e. Outlook isn't reporting disconnects from Exchange and the NIC isn't reporting loss of connection.) However, in the virtual XP side I can launch the virtual
XP, and then start my database application.  It finds the database network share (mapped through the virtual xp as a drive letter to "//tsclient/drive" referencing a share on the host Windows7 machine.  The application runs great up to
10 minutes at which point the connection to the network drops as the database client loses all pointers to it's tables and references and crashes.  If I start a remote desktop session from inside the vitual XP it also will run fine for a while then report
the conenction has been broken.  At no time does the NIC icon in the virtual XP system tray report loss of network connection.
I have turned off all power-saving settings in BIOS, Win7, and as much as I could find in virtual XP - - I'm really at a loss here, especially as I have 15 other machines of very similar specs and identical software installations working just fine, oh, and
yes, I'm running SP1 and have downloaded all available patches.
Hints tips suggestions and/or more questions all very much appreciated.

Thaks for the suggestions - as noted in my original post:
    1) all power management for the NICs (which are integrated on the Intel Motherboard) have been switched off in BIOS, Power Management in both the Win7 host and XP virtual environment, and in Device Manager specific to the NIC I've switched of any power management
options to force them to stay on at full speed/power at all times
    2) I have had this problem now with the computers plugged in to two different "patch to outlet" locations in the office (i.e. different in-wall wiring), plus have used two different wall to PC ethernet cables (which I have also pin verified with a fluke
cable tester) and have used different patch bay to switch cables and have not only switched ports on the switch but have switched to a completely different switch.
With those considerations taken into account I am continuing to see the issue.  The connectivity drop is occurring pretty regularly between 6 and 10 minutes of operation.
    3) sorry, yes, NICs are same model as both towers have same Intel motherboard.

  • 2nd Computer Requires a Manual Wireless Network Connection Setting on Powerup

2nd Computer Requires a Manual Wireless Network Connection Setting on Powerup
On power-up, my 2nd computer, a 3 yo IBM R51, requires that I open the Network Connections window, then set the Wireless Network Connection Properties under the Wireless Network Tab, clicking on "Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings", before the automatic connection launches to the WRT150N v1.1 router signal.
I just bought the router and have the latest firmware.
My primary computer does not require the above settings change every time.
Is there a selection I can make so this is automatic on power-up or restart of my 2nd computer?

It was already set to automatic on both extended and standard tabs.
For a good measure, I set it to disable, applied, then reset it to automatic and applied again. Still does same thing.
I notice that if I double click on the small icon for the Intel ProWireless Network Card, I get a Wireless Connection Status Window.
This window has a Wireless Settings section where it seems to have a possibly obsolete "Current Location Profile" called ssnetwork (the name of my old network on my old D-Link router that I just changed out for the Linksys.
Anyway, the Network Name (SSID) field is now blank but when it first came up, it had the new name of the network I'm using.
Do you know how I access this "Current Location Profile" so I can edit it and possibly enter my new network name?
There is a button at the bottom of the screen called "Modify WLAN Settings" that I click but nothing launches when I do so.
Now that I manually did the connection setting, my network name appears in the "Current Location Profile."

  • Can not setup a network connection  when I re-install  Solaris

    Hi,
I got a problem during the Solaris 7 installation in an Intel Platform. At the 1st time of installation, after I finished the Host Name window, the installation program would popup a "Network Connectivity" window to ask me "Networked: Yes/No". I chose No. The installation continued. Finally, the installation finished successfully. Then I realize I may need the network support. So I formatted the Solaris partition and started the installation from beginning. However, at this time, the "Network Connectivity" window never popup. After I finished the Host Name window, the installation program immediately switches to the "Time Zone" window. I tried several times. No chance to set up the network again. I guess the installation program may save some flags in some place (floppy disk?, CD?, NT partition?). Those flags can not be removed by formatting the Solaris partition. I searched around but could not find out anything. Can you help?
    Thanks,
    Kevin

    Kevin:
I can think of a few things that may have gone wrong.
    i) Do you have a supported network card. See the following site.
    http://soldc.sun.com/support/drivers/hcl/
ii) When you start installing Solaris. There is an option to install from different Media (Harddrive, CDROM and network). During this time did Solaris give you an option to install of the network. This is a sign that Solaris is able to see the network card.
iii) You do not need to re-install if you need to add networking to Solaris. There are many ways to add the networking feature. The simplest is to use the sys-unconfig command. Please NOTE THIS WILL REMOVE ALL CONFIG INFO ON YOU SYSTEM.
Hope you get the network working, 'Cos "Network is the Computer" :-)

  • Text box transparency in Network Connect

    Really odd little annoyance:
when I use Network Connect (V 7.0.0 by Juniper Networks) to access my main campus network, I noticed recently that the text boxes that I enter my username and password into are transparent:  that is, within that part of the network connect window, I am seeing whatever is in on the screen behind it.  It's very odd, and sometimes quite annoying, depending on what is on the screen behind it.
I don't even know what to call this behavior, or who to give feedback to--apple?  Juniper Networks?  Juniper Networks has a pretty impenetrable web site.  Am I the only one seeing this?

You are not the only person seeing this. What's more annoying is that when you select the text box (i.e., click on any of the transparent area), it'll select through to the window behind it, bring that window to the foreground, and pushing the Network Connect window to the background.
Juniper isn't a UI company, so I don't really fault them for not knowing how to design a better UI. What I don't understand is why they through it necessary to take extra steps to make the textbox transparent. After all, this isn't the default behavior of textboxes. It's like they took extra steps to make their software unusable.

  • What happens to a NetConnection when the client loses network connectivity?

    Hello,
I was wondering if anyone has any idea of what happens with a
NetConnection that is interrupted by the loss of network
connectivity. In recent testing on my FMS app, I logged in, messed
around for a while, then physically disconnected my computer's
ethernet cable. While the application stopped responding to my
actions (as expected), the instance on Flash Media Server continued
to show a client connection for several minutes after the
disconnect, although it did eventually time out. Before it timed
out, reconnecting the ethernet cable didn't allow the client to
interact with the application again, also pretty much expected.
What I'm wondering is if there is any way to register the
loss of connectivity by the client so that appropriate action could
be taken. It doesn't seem that any of the NetStatusEvents respond
to loss of connectivity...the closed event occurs only when
actively closing the connection, not when it's simply cut off. Has
anyone else had to deal with this, and what sort of approach did
    you take?
Thanks in advance for any help.

When you close a process it wont use the port/network until it restarts automatically.

  • Loss of internet connectivity after upgrading to windows 8.1

Hi, After upgrading to windows 8.1 from windows 8 i am experiencing major problems , loss of internet connectivity for no reason both I.E. and G/CHROME are now taking an age to open there are no virus issues as far as i can see.
I have uninstalled and re-installed  windows 8.1 about four times over the past 9 months or so and the same thing happens after all the updates are in it runs like a dream for say 6weeks or so then i get the same faults as described above then i uninstall/ re-install ok for 6 weeks .
I would apprieate any help or advice thanks

    Hi @BMATH
    Thank you your query.
I understand that after updating to Windows 8.1 about every 6 weeks you loose wireless connectivity for no reason  and the web pages are very slow to open.  If you uninstall and reinstall Windows 8.1 it works fine again for about the same amount of time.  You have done this about 4 times with the same result each time.
Do you know if there is any changes at that time , perhaps an update?
You stated you do not believe you have any viruses.  Just to be sure here are two links that will help confirm that.
