Loss of Network signals and random internet access resulted in loss of my business

Hello
Iphone 4s is my first apple product, otherwise i am a android phone user, i wanted to give android a break and try apple for a change. Today is my first day with this phone. I am a business man and business calls to me are very important. I am deeply sadened to let apple management and others know that my first experience with apple was a sour one. First I had to cut down my sim to apple phone desired size as a result i am not able to insert the sim into other phones.; Now I am not able to make calls, every time i make a call i get call failed notice and the network bar just vanishes and reappears again. After trying a number of times i am able to make a call. No doubt the phone is costly but the loss of calls to my phone has cost me tremendously and i am very unhappy with your product as i am unable to switch to other phones. I have recieved a number of calls on my land line number, people saying my mobile number is unavailable. trust me, I will never use an apple product again if this problem is not fixed quickly, i will also discourage others not to buy your products.
I am now forced to give my contacts my new mobile number.
Yours sincerely
an angry businessman
Shaurya Chakarvarty

First, you are not speaking to Apple. This is a user to user forum.
Second, based on your description, this would appear to be entirely a carrier problem. You should be raising the issue with your carrier.
Third, getting your SIM replaced should NOT require that you change your number. If it did, you either have some kind of pre-paid service or the person who took care of you at your carrier is incompetent.
You should be talking to your carrier about these issues. There are widely reported problems of older Micro-SIM cards and cut SIMs not working properly in the iPhone 4S. As the iPhone 4S has been rolled out around the world, the problem seems to be rectified by obtaining a new Micro-Sim from your supported carrier AFTER the 4S is officially released there.
If you are using an unsupported carrier, all bets are off and the ONLY place you can really go for assistance is your carrier.
A list of supported carriers can be found here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1937

My mac book air connects to my network and gets internet access but airport utility  cannot find my airport base station to set up time machine

airport utility  cannot find my airport base station to set up time machine
Normally, AirPort Utility is not used or needed to set up Time Machine backups......unless a default setting on the Time Capsule to Enable File Sharing has been changed.
On the other hand, if you open AirPort Utility, a picture of the Time Capsule should be displayed. Are you saying here that the Time Capsule does not appear when you open AirPort Utility?

  • New to Networking - Verizon Wireless Broadband Internet Access

    Hello,
Just setting up my home network with a router and printer server.  However, when I went to set it up, it is looking for a cable to connect from the laptop to the router.  I use a Verizon Broadband wireless card that I insert into the pcmia slot on the laptopr, therefore, no wires involved.
Will this work with the router or do I need the cable connection for it to work.
Also, in the setup it asks not only for the IP address (which I think I found) but also a subnet, gateway, dns, etc.  Any suggestions on where I can find this info.
Or is this all just explained somewhere in an easy guide when using a wireless internet access card.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks for the info.  Since I live in a rural location, the only options I have are either slow dial up with MSN or the broadband access card in my laptop with Verizon so I guess I will be limited to the internet only on my laptop if I want faster access.
One thing, though, when I open the program for the verizon card (VZaccessmanager), it shows a symbol for linksys as an available network even though I didn't provide the ISP, etc. answers.
The router that I am using is the WRT54GS and and a WPS54G print server.
And, yes, the ISP question was being asked during the final stages of router installation, along with the gateway question, etc.  Now that this isn't going to work with the access card, do I need to answer these questions?
Any help will be appreciated.  Thanks.

  • Green light, network recognized, still no internet access

    Hi all,
After a day of tinkering with my new AEBS 802.11n, I finally got the network up and running, after reinstalling the Airport Utility software and configuring the AEBS settings manually. Yay. But still, I can't get on line. There the AEBS sits, with its glowing green light taunting me, and my MacBook tells me I'm connected to my network, yet zip, nada, no internet access. I've tried unplugging and recycling the modem and the AEBS, separately and together, to no avail.
    Does anyone have any advice?
    Thanks! Kate

hi kate - oh, i had similar experiences (maybe have a look at http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1087373&tstart=0). so for me it looks like a tcp/ip address missmatch. do maybe the following:
check the modem/routers ip adress on the private side (not the public address on the dsl side). some hints to get this address if not available from the modem/routers manufacturer:
    - connect the modem/router using an ethernet cable (mine is yellow) directly to your computer
    - open safari and enter the address 192.168.1.1 (if you have a netopia modem or 192.168.0.1 if you have a netgear modem or the address of your specific modem/router .... ... right, that's the address you should look for )
    - if you have found the right address the a message will follow that you should enter the modem/routers userid and password mostly "admin" and "1234"
    - you will get the modem/routers menue where you can select somewhere "status" and you can verify the address. and ensure the modem/router is set to "DHCP" and look for both DNS address entries. these addresses you should set in your airport extreme
    - disconnect the yellow cable. and a good idea is to fully restart your computer afterthat
but the main stuff from this story is, that you have to get somehow the ip adresse from your modem/router for your private network side. assuming now it's 192.168.0.1. so open airport utility, doubleclick on the airport extreme icon and select the internet icon.
    - then set the addressing mode from dhcp to manual
    - set the ip adress of the airport to 192.168.0.255 (this address is out of the DHCP-range)
    - set the network mask to 255.255.255.0
    - set the routers address to 192.168.0.1
    - set the dns-entries to the addresses you have found in the modem status
    - i m not sure if it's really necessary, but i have also set the ip address range for its distribution to 192.168.0.10 - 200 (the airport extreme should not make address distribution, because the modem/router is doing that ... but anyway)
    - reconfigure and restart the airport
    - open in the systems menue from your computer (i don't know the english name of the main mac configuration tool ...), open network, go the tcp/ip and renew the DCHP-lease (also your computer must get a new valid ip adress)
    - open safari and then you should come to the internet ...
    hope this helps

  • [SOLVED] eth0-wlan0 AP using bridge AND keep internet access

    Hi there!
This is my very first post here, so please forgive me if I (unintentionally) violate some rule.
I have set up my system as an eth0-wlan0 access point with hostapd using a bridge.
The IP addresses are provided by a separate dhcp-server (router resp. cablemodem).
My problem is: when I work on the AP I would like to have a working connection to the
Internet/Router. But to get there I have to execute
    systemctl restart dhcpcd.service
The AP via the eth0-wlan0 bridge keeps working and I now have a working Internet connection.
AFAIK the dhcpcd service acts (invoked by netcfg) on the bridge-profile to assign an IP
to eth0. After that the bridge is set up and (now hostapd.service is up) the wlan0 is
added to the bridge in AP mode.
It would be great if someone could point out the problem for me.
    Thx, Benedikt

After switching from netcfg to netctl everything worked "out-of-the-box". The bridge gets to be the new standard network interface and all traffic on the machine gets directed through it. YAY

  • HT1766 no network signal,or wi fi access

My iphone 4s cannot get a network signal or access wi fi

Do you have more than one address in the DNS section? +Yes separated by a comma...exactly the same except for the last 2 digits+
If so, is one of them the same as your router? If so, try leaving just that one in there. +Haven't a clue (keep in mind this is like talking to my dog who understands cookie and outside but he pays attention well) OH, found it...Router starts with different numbers+
If they are both public addresses (don't start with 10.x.x.x, 172.16.x.x (few exceptions in here) or 192.168) try removing the first one and leaving the second one. +I tried that earlier...didn't help They start with 24.197XXXX if that means anything+

  • Mac and Windows internet access

    Hi
I've got my MacBook configured to startup in Windows XP or Mac OS X. Mostly I use Mac (of course) which is where I access the internet. But I have a need to access the internet via the Windows side and it won't. I have tried the Wizard but to no avail. Has anybody any suggestions of what I need to do.
    Wendy

    Apple Setup.exe
XP is bad on security so it may try to run automatically.
HOW TO and more is in the Boot Camp FAQ and PDF guide (access from Boot Camp Assistant as well)
    http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/
Your Mac OS X DVD has a Windows /BootCamp volume that only shows up when in Windows. You can copy that to your XP system as well and run from there.

  • Relocating and wireless internet accessibility

I'm relocating and I'm wondering how I can find out if I have wireless internet access there and if I can keep my Fios or if I'll have to switch to another provider.
    Thanks.

You may want to post this on the Residential side of the forum as this is for the cellular phone side.
At the top of this screen is a tab RESIDENTIAL. Click there and you can set up an account on that side and ask your question.

  • How to go from taking wireless signal and outputing internet on imac

im trying to take a signal from my airport in my computer and using the internet plug to send the internet signal to another computer.

If you are using OS 10.2 or beyond, open System Preferences->Sharing preference pane and enable Internet sharing from AirPort to Ethernet. Also enable Web Sharing.

  • VPN and limiting internet access

I posted this under the SMB as well but wanted to post under the VPN header at the same time.
Hello all, I am very new to VPN's and Firewalls so please forgive me for lack of terminology usage.
I am part of a company that has 20 internal PC's and 25 external sites (Convienient stores) that are all now being placed on a VPN. We purchased a ASA 5510 for the office and we are placing Linksys RV042 routers at the stores. What my question is, is that we have a few stores that need limited internet access because we have Subway restaurants there and they need to download and upload at times. What I dont want is to allow full access to the net because of the chance of outside attacks or viruses.
My question is, what can be done to set the VPN in place but only allow certain access to web addresses that we say is alright to have communication with?
Is this possible and / or what else needs to be purchased?
I thank you in advance for any help you can advise on.
    JJ

The problem with the internet is, how do you define this 'certain' addresses. Is this possible for you?
There is an option in VPNs called split tunneling, which has a "Exclude specified" mode, that might help.

  • Loss of network connectivity at random times to guests and now hosts Server 2012 R2 Hyper-v on Dell R620...Guests virtual disks reside on a NAS.

We have set up 2 Hyper-v environments (Server 2012 R2 fully updated) on Dell R620's. The guest machines are configured do that they reside on a NAS (also a Dell R620 with server 2012). We are having an issue on both the environments where the guests will
lose network connectivity. The servers ran well for about 4 weeks and recently the guests started having issues and we have even had to reboot the host due to network connectivity problems.
We have 4 virtual switches set up. 1 connected to its own NIC. 1 for management and the 3 others for guests.
The 3 for guests are not configured to allow host OS sharing.
We do not have IP addresses on the NICS for the guests. Only on the management port. (all 1 GB NICS)
We have updated the firmware and drivers for the standard Broadcom Netxtreme cards.
We do not have Jumbo frames enabled because of some issues with switching compatability.
I've seen articles recommending to turn off TCP offloading and to disable virtual machine queues. Is this best practice?
Any thoughts of where I might look to help diagnose this issue?

    Hi ,
"1 connected to its own NIC. 1 for management and the 3 others for guests."
Also you mentioned that : " is only hosting these 24 VMs ".
First please try to disable the RSS in the property of the NICs for guests .
Then run powershell " Get-NetAdapterVMQ " to check the parameter "NumberOfReceiveQueues"  (NumberOfReceiveQueues – The number of queues that the NIC has available to use and assign to VMs,
the host and a default queue) .
If I understand correctly ,when you enable VMQ  the number of connected VMs on that NIC should not be more than the value of  "NumberOfReceiveQueues" -2 .
For details please refer to following link:

  • Network errors and poor throughput accessing new NAS appliance

I have a HP DV6 Laptop with 4 GB of RAM. It's running Windows 7 64 bit. Ethernet attached to my home network via a Realtec gigabit NIC.
My old NAS was a Western Digital World Book 1TB which was 100Mb ethernet attached. It actually performed adequately but I ran out of space. I replaced it with a 4TB Thecus N2310 which is Gigabit attached.
I use Wireshark to sniff the network and capture the errors and Intel NAS Performance Toolkit to measure the throughput of my NAS devices
I also have a Gateway Desktop and an Asus netbook both running Win 7 that perform perfectly against the Thecus.
I access the Thecus via Samba as a mounted drive on my Laptop. When streaming video or running NAS-PT I receive below errors and a significant loss of throughput. I should be getting about 50MB/s but due to these errors I am only getting 3-6MB/s.
TCP-Dup Ack, TCP Out-of-order, TCP Fast retransmission, TCP Previous segment not captured.
These errors are in order of predominance. The interesting part is if I boot in Safe Mode w/networking or if I boot Ubuntu I get excellent performance.
I have tried running an ethernet cable directly between the Thecus and the DV6. I still received the same Network errors but my throughput did increase from 3-6MB/s to 10MB/s (insignificant). So, it's not the ethernet cable and not switches and
not network congestion causing this problem.
I've researched the heck out of this. I've modified about every advanced network setting I could find to no avail. Totally stuck.
I welcome all questions and comments.
    Thanks, Chris

    Hi,
So no issues when in Windows safe mode?
Are we running any 3rd-party software that might cause the this issue, we might take use of Windows clean boot to check it out.

Please try to pay attention to the software related to Western Digital.
Additionally, please set your network speed to duplex mode.

  • Losing power/signal and no internet connectivity for WRT54G2-RM

Just installed router and using Motorola SB5101 cable modem and Comcast.  Followed instructions  and the router has lost losing power and needing restarts a few times.  Have it installed by ethernet cable to my desktop, and using laptop (XP Pro Thinkpad P42).  Cannot get internet connectivity and also loses wireless signal connection.  I know there are a number of similar posted issues, and I am new to this forum.  Any ideas?

Download and upgrade your router's firmware, reset and then re-configure it...
Follow these steps to upgrade the firmware on the device : -
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on a computer hard wired to the router...
In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1...Leave the Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
Click on the 'Administration' tab- Then click on the 'Firmware Upgrade' sub tab- Here click on 'Browse' and browse the .bin firmware file and click on "Upgrade"...
Wait for few seconds until it shows that "Upgrade is successful"  After the firmware upgrade, click on "Reboot" and you will be returned back to the same page OR it will say "Page cannot be displayed".
    Now reset your router :
Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...

  • IOS 7.1 screws up with my network signal and when it's working, it's 3G

    Hi,
I lost signal for no reason and I have to turn the airplane mode on and off to no avail. Then, I had to turn my phone off and back on.
The signal came back after a long wait. And sometimes, I only get 3G where normally, in the same location, I'd get 4G.
Also, the audio streaming via Bluetooth to my speaker now skips a beat or two sometimes.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks.

  • Monitoring and controlling internet access for router

Im kinda confused about what im doing but i have neighbors next door that are bumming off of my internet and i want to be able to deny the access of their computers.  i tried changing the password but it seems that it didnt help, i dont know why or how they got around it but if someone could tell me how i could block their computers from accessing my router it would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

The details of this depends on what kind of router you have, but generally the most secure setup is to only allow specific MAC addresses to use your router.  This can be a pain until you have added all of your devices - and if you have occasional users like friends who drop by it's annoying to have to go into the router and add them.  Still, it's the only sure-fire way to keep everyone else out.  In my router, it's under advanced wireless settings, and the function is called Setup Access List.
