Loss of quality when rendering my project to Animated .GIF?

Hello,
Is there any reason why the quality of my .gif looks distorted when I render it? it looks perfect in the After Effects preview window.
Here is an example of what I am talking about
http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/7325/comp1sh9.gif
The whole image looks all fuzzy and its making me sad :(
Any ideas on how to fix this, any help would be much appreciated :D
Thanks

Hi I actually made an animated gif in photoshop but it says to save it I have to optimize it and when i do that the same thing happens to me, it loses allot of quality and becomes fuzzy. How do I make an animated gif in photoshop without losing so much quality?

  • HELP Loss of quality when rendering DSLR footage.HELP PLZ

Hello, I am editing with premiere cs6 and I am importing 1080p hd dslr footage(usually 29fps) from my canon rebel t3i. NOW, i do all of my editing and color correcting and after I render the effects in the work area I see that the footage worse than it was before i rendered..(left image before right image after) I have been having this problem for a long time and i really need help and cannot find any answers.. When I upload any footage to youtube (even if I don't render work area) the quality is AWFUL at 360p(default playback) compared to other canon rebels. I have tried MANY different export settings, import settings, render modes, settings, etc etc etc. If anyone could help I would be so thankful. Thanks in advance!!!
    Enjoy the creepy images.

It is very possible for things to be set up in PP such that the previews are of lesser quality.  Most often you don't want to use those for export anyway, so I was ignoring that aspect of the issue.
If the 1080p export looks good on yoru computer, and it's only the lesser resolutions on YouTube that look bad, then you will have to get in touch with YT about that.

When rendering a project, FCPX did not stop at 100% but appeared to keep rendering - when it reached eleven thousand something, I quite FCPX (it allowed me to quit).

The background tasks indicator just kept going and going... 200, 300... 400... 600...800... When I opened the background tasks window, the only process it said was active was rendering.
I clicked on "stop" but it ignored me, kept counting on and on....  1000... 2000,,, 5000 I clicked Pause, it didn't ignore me but still kept counting...  7000... 10,000...
I went to my activity monitor on my mac and from what it said (like, 97% or so idle), I surmised that it actually had stopped rendering.  So I quit FCPX - no problem, no "not responding" or "force quit" or anything.
My external harddrive was still whirring (that's where my project is stored) so with much trepidation I ejected it: no problem...
After my question I (agian with much trepidation) opened FCPX, did some editing, rendered, exported, without problems.
But I'm concerned about what might have caused this bizarre behavior and what to do if it happens again.
    any thoughts???

  • Graphics loosing quality when rendering

I´m importing some graphics rendered in AFX to Premiere CS3, and when I run in Premiere they are OK, but after I edit them in the sequence and render, they loose quality. For example, I have some text (orange color) over black background. When I render them in the sequence, the text looses quality, the text definition and the color degrade and it seems that there are two colors in the text. And some weird things are happening with fields too. When I import some footage rendered lower field first in AFX, they run smooth in the source monitor, but when I edit them in a sequence and render, the field order seems to be wrong.
I cannot figure out what´s happening.

In AFX I rendered using QuickTime animation codec
In Premiere CS3 I´m working with NTSC DV
Like I said, chances are your AE export is higher quality than your Premiere project, hence when rendered, the quality goes down.  The Quicktime Animation codec is comparable to Uncompressed.  When you compress it to DV by rendering, quality can suffer.

  • IPhoto Slideshows: major loss of quality when passed to iMovie or iDVD

Problem: Slideshows created in iPhoto and exported to a Quicktime movie lose quality when exported from iMovie or iDVD.
I've read through many threads in both the iMovie and iDVD forums, and I've done a lot of testing to find the source of my frustration. Now I want to spell out my findings and see how they compare with what others know of this process. I'm posting the thread in this forum because iPhoto seems to be the common denominator.
I create slideshows in iPhoto, adding Ken Burns effects to each photo individually. I then export the slideshow as a Large (640x480) movie. The resulting movie looks good when played in Quicktime.
I import the Quicktime movie into iMovie, add some music and themes and then export it. No matter how I export it, the quality greatly suffers.
I try bypassing iMovie and import the iPhoto-created movie directly to iDVD. I burn the project and the quality of the video suffers.
As a final test, I create a similar slideshow in Photo to Movie, using pan and zoom effects and music, just like the iMovie project. I export the slideshow to a Quicktime movie and it looks great. I send that movie to iDVD and burn the project -- the quality is much better.
All this testing tells me that iPhoto's exporting of the slideshow creates some problem when running the movie through iMovie or iDVD. At first I thought it was just the conversion of the video to Quicktime movie and then it being encoded again by iDVD. The thing is that Photo to Movie also creates a Quicktime movie and the result after iDVD is still good. I don't have a real technical explanation for what's going on, but surely somebody does!
Sorry for the length of this post, but I needed to lay out all of my findings to try and get a good discussion going. Anyone have some insight into all this?
    PowerMac G5 1.8 GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Running into the same problems with video books. I created some video books (using iPhoto's book feature and exporting to iDVD) and the Quicktime files don't look good.
However, I have created some slideshows prior and didn't run into any quality issues. I used the Share - Send to iDVD, but that shouldn't change anything.
If you hear how to resolve video quality issues, I'd love to know. I haven't yet burned my video books to DVD (just exported to QT), but I'm hoping on the TV from 10+ feet away it will look fine.

  • Fuzzy quality when rendering out in Premier Pro CS4

    Hi,
    Using Premiere PRO CS4.
Whenever I export a sequence, no matter what I choose; Quicktime, AVI, FLV etc all my renders are no longer sharp but look slightly out of focus.
I mainly need to expoert to AVI and Quicktime.
Can anyone please recommed settings to ensure the output files are as clear as the content in the Sequence before rendering?
Also, what are the best settings for AVI and Quicktime to keep the file size down?
A 5 minute AVI clip ends up being 1.5 GB, I'm sure the size can be reduced without loss of quality?
    Cheers

This ARTICLE will give you some background on the concept of "wrappers."
The bit-rate settings for the Export will definitely determine the quality of that output. However, as Harm points out, file size will go UP. The trick is to find the balance of quality vs file size.
Within those wrapper types, there are possibly CODEC's, that will give you more compression, but still with good quality. The choice of the CODEC will very likely hinge on exactly how you need to deliver the material. For instance, for streaming video, the DivX CODEC will offer heavy compression, but the quality is still quite good - however, one needs the DivX CODEC to playback the material. There is quite a bit to think about, and that's why Harm asked for your delivery scheme.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Is there an audible loss of quality when converting from WMA to MP3/AAC?

Just wondering when I convert my WMA files to MP3 or AAC using EasyWMA, iTunes for WIndows, Switch or whatever, will there be an audible loss of quality in the conversion?
    Thanks.

There is always an audio quality degradetion while converting a compressed file from one codec to another. It may not be significant for everybody tough.
To avoid this degradation, you should compress your file from the original instead of passing from one codec to another.

  • Loss of quality when flipping and speeding up video

    Hi,
I have Adobe Premiere Elements 12. I’m running it on Windows 7, Intel 2.5Ghz, 6GB RAM. The input video is shot on a Sony DSLR, AVCHD/MPEG, 25 fps, 1920x1080.
I am trying to video myself drawing and then speed it up. However there is a significant loss of quality after I’ve done a vertical flip, horizontal flip and sped up the video. The video appears grainy and jittery. I’ve tried a number of combinations. When I make no changes to the video then the output is fine. The main loss of quality seems to come when I do the horizontal and vertical flip.
Any tips on how to reduce the loss of quality or where to read to learn about this would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Laurie

Thank you for your speedy response. I am new to the program and it is hard to take on faith after I work on an 80 plus image sequence that they render out ok, since the display in thew viewer is so poor. I did render it out to QT, and yes, the animations play cleanly.
However there is a secondary problem. Still photos are crisp and clear, however any photos with motion keyframes become soft. At first I thought it was only a problem with my .psd sequences, but the problem persists with non layered image files as well. I come from a photo background, and I know not to expect the resolution from a print, but the poor image quality/bluriness/softness of my keyframed images is noticeable to non-photo types as well.
    Thank you again.

  • Quality when Rendering a PhotoShop in FCE (and example of..)

I work at a Birkenstock store. My boss asked me to make some "slides" for a TV commercial. I made them in Photoshop 300dpi and imported to FCE.
It looks great FCE but then as soon as I render the sequence it looks terrible.
I put an example of both on a page on our website:
    http://theshoehousestores.com/birko1/beforeafterproblem.html
My plan was to upload the FCE fie and the assets to the TV station and let them ouput it.
How can I get the image to not render so badly?
    Jeff

Yes both on a video monitor and my LCD monitor that came with the computer. Both are the same.
The only reason I did them so big was because when I made them smaller they seemed even worse. When I import the big ones they fit without any need to resize (the smaller ones too).
I'll read up on the info you offered in the link and let you know what I learn.
What I get most of all from your posts and the others you have tried to help is that this is a fixable problem and it should not be so "muddy" when rendered and in the final output. Am I correct?
I really do appreciate your help so far.. Thank you
    Jeff

  • Loss of quality when copying video from 1 sequence to a new one

Hi all, I've captured footage (SD 16:9) on one sequence and then exported a section of it into a new sequence, but there is a visible loss of quality, surely the actual media is the same.. only visual clue is that the "safe" outlines change to what could be 4:3 format even though the video itself still looks 16:9 in the new sequence..
    Cheers
    Dilip.

That's the odd thing they seem the same.. I've tried to out put to .mov files and the new sequence is compressed in to letter box, original looks ok?
    Cheers

  • Why is picture blinking when pasting object to an animated gif???

I am working with animation and when finished my pic is blinking once saved?  I am working with an animated gif and opening file in the video frames ..then I am trying to paste a dog with trasparant background.  I have tried merging the top 2 layers, all the different locking options and saving each time...no matter what I do when viewing my pic the background ( animated pic) is blinking)?....I have CS3 extended.  Can anyone offer advise?

When I click on the picture I see the animation.
You have a frame with only the dog showing.  Go through your frames, selecting them one by one, and look at the layer visibitlity indicators.  One of them is likely showing only the dog.  Alternately, if you don't need that frame you can just delete it entirely, then Save For Web & Devices again.
Either that or a lightning storm is coming.

  • Poor quality when rendering CC Particle Systems II

    Hi Guys.
I'm getting strange render results when I render out CC Particle Systems II cubes and tetrahedrons.
I have the particles cascading out towards the viewer and they look great when I preview render in AFX but when I do a full render to H.264 mp4 they start really crisp and clear then turn in to a really pixelated mess as the render continues. It's odd. I tried rendering through Adobe media encoder but it's the same. I also tried just rendering the particle part of the comp and it does the same thing. Am I missing some settings?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

Without seeing it in motion, it sounds like normal issues you would experience with an interframe compression scheme like H.264
H.264 works on the principle of a few full frames scattered among a bunch of incomplete frames with interpolated data. Your first frame would be a keyframe with full data and that middle frame would be one that's incomplete. The reason it looks worse when the particles are on the screen is that there's also a lot more data happening. In the rest of your project, the compression is barely noticeable. This is an issue any time you are trying to design for broadcast or the web. Heck, you can even see this kind of artifacting in major releases. See, for example, the Planet Earth Blu-ray in any of the shots involving a massive flock of birds. You can see compression artifacts despite the pristine quality you would expect from them. There's only so much data you can squeeze out of a frame (to make it easily playable) before certain artifacts will creep in.
You can either redesign to make it less likely to have artifacts when compressed or you can rest assured that most normal people won't even notice something like this as it flies past them on the screen.
Now, this is all assuming your particles are moving quickly. If it looks like that with slow, smooth motion, something else may be wrong.

  • Why Is There A loss In Quality When I impoer a Minidv tape into Imovie 08

I have the latest version of Imovie and this is my first Mac.
I am using SD MiniDV camcorder (NTSC). I import the entire tape into iMovie. Then I export it to a large h.264 m4v file. I am somewhat disappointed about the picture quality of the m4v file.
When I play the tape through my camcorder connected to the TV through svideo things it looks pretty good.
When I play the m4v file on MacbookPro connected to a TV via svdeo or using the TV (DVI to HDMI) as second monitor the picture quality isn't as crisp.
Any idea what I am doing wrong. My goal is to move all my Minidv home moves onto a hard drive at the best possible quality. My tapes are getting old and this seems like the best way of preserving them.
    Thanks,
    Dan

sorry for 'overwhelming' you with info
yes, all apps copy the dv-encoded material from miniDV devices 'natively' = lossless import..
but only iM08 then adds some 'loss' .. nobody knows exactly, what & how.. but you are not able to EXport lossless from within iM08 ..
example: import dv, export dv = adds blurr and 'magnifies' somehow the same file .. ( ! )
using iMHD≤6, FCE/P allows you, to export lossless = highest quality possible (except the parts of your project, which need renderning, e.g. titles, transitions...)
example: import dv, export dv = same quality ...
so, if _pic quality_ is your major concern, avoid iM08 ..
if you want fast results and export quality doesn't matter: iM08
if you want a Library off all imports ever and full integration into AppleTV/, YT.. = iM08
if you want other codecs than dv and simple use = iM08
if you want all imports for any future project and high dv quality = FCE/P
if you want easy to use and high dv quality = iMHD≤6 ..
if you want other codecs than dv and Hollywood quality = FCP

  • Poor quality when exporting HD project directly from Final cut Express

I am doing some HD projects in Final Cut Express HD. I filmed with the Sony HRD-HC1 in 1080i. I import into FCE using the 1080i 60 preset from Easy setup. I completed the project and it looks great from FCE full screen. I export as Quicktime (not Using Quicktime conversion), and I get a perfect looking output file using the Apple intermediate codec, 1440x1080. The problem is that the client needs to play back the video on windows machine using Quicktime. The windows Quicktime does not support the AIC apple intermediate codec, so I have to export to another format. I tried everything exporting from FCE, MP2, H.264, DivX, everyone option. They all look terrible. Blurry, especially parts that have quick motion. Really terrible. I called Apple support, no love. I then tried taking the AIC version of the file and used compressor. It took forever, but came up with am OK MP2 HD file. It still doesn't look that great, but it is way better. So, is their something broken with the FCE exports using Quicktime conversion? Anyone have similar experiences or workarounds? I don't want to use compressor as I don't have it on my Mac Book pro, I had to move it to another machine to do that.

Being that the dimentions you suggested should be widescreen, I re-ran the conversion to your parameters, this time un-checking "Preserve aspsect ratio.. as letterbox" and this time it is widescreen. Not sure why, but it was putting the black bars on the left and right, not the top and bottom, scrunching to 4:3ish with that box checked. Strange.
Anyway, the quality is the best H.264 I have seen exporting directly from FCE. It still blurs quite a bit on the fast moving video parts, my MP2 version from compressor still looks lots better. Seems like there is some problem with exporting HD from FCE. It just is not coming out sharp, like the Apple intermediate codec version you get with Export - -> Quicktime movie or if you wait for compressor to do the work rather than FCE. Does compressor use a different engine, or does it use the same QT and just take more time to do a better job in the export? Something just isn't right.

  • IMovie - Poor Video Quality when exporting to "Projects"

Hi - I'm using iMovie 11' and once I move my video (HD) from "Events" to "Projects" my video quality becomes very poor and the video is cropped. I have changed my setting to have it "fit frame" but the problem still exists. Thoughts?

    @Harm,
"Pear-shaped" (or sometimes "fruit-shaped") is a euphemism meaning that the effort has gone awry; it was a mess.
    @John,
Export to DVD is a PPro 2.0 function; in CS3 it is now Export to Encore. Is that what you meant?
First thing is to check the field orders of your source material and of your export settings. Don't invert them, and don't deinterlace interlaced footage.
Perhaps a short list of the settings you have tried (and why you chose those settings) would help us help you.
