Loss of Send & Receive ability with mac mail

On or around May 11, I stopped receiving mail. I received an office mac 2008 update around the same time. Could Entourage somehow have been enabled and mac mail disabled? I'm pretty frustrated at this point and have tried everything I know to revive mac mail. help

Two things to try:
(1) Verify with your provider whether they use SSL or not and verify the port number on their server to which you should be connecting. POP without SSL is typically port 110. POP with SSL is typically port 995. Or, just try it both ways. Doublecheck the POP (incoming) mail server name, too. Is it the same "mail.wavecable.com" as is used for the SMTP servername?
(2) Try quitting Mail, then launching Keychain Access (located in the Applications/Utilities folder). Select login keychains. Find any entries that pertain to your POP account login and delete them (doubleclicking on an entry brings up more identifying information about to what it pertains/belongs). To delete them, just use the delete key or menubar>edit>delete. Quit Keychain Access. Start Mail. You will get prompt for your POP password. Enter it and be sure to check the "save to keychain" checkbox. Presuming that you are let in, quit Mail. Relaunch Mail. You should login automagically without having to enter.

  • Font size changes randomly inside mail received (sent with Mac Mail)

Hello! Here is a random issue on Mac Mail Leopard, seems few people already experimented the issue but no one found a correct solution:
When i send a mail to somebody, we can randomly notice a change of the font size (from 9px to 12px) in the received mail. This appears mostly in sentences after others sentences containing some bold text.
Note that I use the Calibri font, which is correctly set for the whole mail.
Appart from starting to write inside the signature to avoid any problem, i didn't find a way yet to fix that issue. But I imagine that if it would be a bug in the software, Apple would have fix it for decades ?..
So anyone could give an explanation? Thank u!

Thanks baltwo and Tom. I'll try sending as a PDF file as well.
Also, I did a test per Tom's instructions about reformatting text. First, I copied text from another email and then pasted it in a new message. I highlighted all the text where I wanted to increase the text size and left one paragraph unchanged.
I sent the email to the recipient that's having these issues where she replied back with my forwarded email.
All the text where I increased the point size shrunk and the text that I left alone was actually okay - Weird! I also noticed that the font style changed on their end. By the way, the recipient uses Microsoft Outlook as their email browser.

  • GoDaddy Mac Mail IMAP...HUGE delay receiving email in mac mail

issue: (only with godaddy IMAP email accts in Mac Mail)
i can send emails no proplem
the problems is receiving them...there is an enourmous delay-up to 8 hours!
    things i have done/figured out:
on the godaddy email client all is good
on my iphone the account works
i set up an account in entourage and the account works
    i upgraded to snow leopard
i deleted the accounts and recreated them
here is the rub...i figured out a "work around". if i manually "sync all accounts" in mail and then click on get mail the mail comes in immediatetly or if i delete an email in one of the accounts and then click get mail the mail comes in immediately. but Mac Mail won't retrieve email other wise.
I know that this is a problem others have expereineced but i have not been able to find the solution
i believe that it is an issue with Mac Mail and perhaps the IDLE feature (disabling IDLE does not help that much)
i have spent countless hours on the phone with godaddy and today they told me that the problem is a mac issue and therefore i am on my own.
    any ideas???

    Okay - I fixed it.  Here's what I did.
    - Deleted the entire mail folder inside my Preferences folder.  ~/Library/<userfolder>
    - Kept the files in the trash just in case, but didn't need them
    - Rebooted
    - Opened the System Preferences
    - Selected "Mail, Contacts & Calendars"
    - Verified the previous account was gone
    - Clicked Create
    - Created a new account and then opened Mail
    - Voila! Email
Note - if you trash the mail folder inside Preferences, it will delete any local emails.  All my email is IMAP and I never store anything locally, so everything syched right back when the account was recreated.
    Good luck.  Hope this helps.

  • I am using a mac mini (10.8.3) with Mac Mail 6.3 (1503).  Whenever I try to forward an email with attachments, the attachments do not make it.  They show being sent, but the attachments never are sent.

    Hey Guys,
The title says it all.  Whenever I receive an email with attachments, I will try to forward the email to someone with the attachments.  Mac Mail shows that the attachments are attached, but the receiver says the attachments are not there. Our mail host is Rackspace.  We are setup with IMAP.  It should be noted that we are experiencing similar issues with OS 10.5.8 with Mac Mail 3.6 (936).
We assumed Rackspace was the problem, so we logged into their webmail portal and tested it and the attachments were received as normal, which points everything back to Mac Mail.  We even had an ISP change but the problem do not change.
I have researched the problem, and there seems to be evidence of this being a known bug with Mac Mail, but I am hoping there is a workaround.  The company is unwilling to move to a different mail client since they use Daylite 4, which does not support Thunderbird.

    Back up all data.
    1. Triple-click the line below to select it:
    ~/Library/Mail/Bundles
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Open
from the contextual menu. A folder may open, or you may get an error message that the item can't be found. Either result is normal. If the folder does open and has contents, move the contents to the Desktop. Relaunch Mail and test. If there's no change, put the contents of the folder back and quit Mail again.
    2. Repeat with this line:
    /Library/Mail/Bundles
This time you may be prompted for your login password when you remove the items. Make sure they're removed from the folder and not just copied to the Desktop. If necessary, copy them first and then move the originals to the Trash.

  • Email tracking with Mac Mail?

Is there an email tracking service that would seamlessly integrate with mac mail?
I have used mailchimp.com for one of my email marketing campaign, and I was wondering if a service like that could be integrated into mac mail with a plugin or something.
    Thank You!

Sometimes getting an email with an attachment is a pain.
It isn't mac mail it is the email server you are connecting to.
There is a whole host of reasons why it can be slow.
Don't worry about it unless this freind sends you more attachments and you continue to have trouble then you need to contact the dns administrator of the mail server and report a complaint.

  • Can't set up hotmail.co.uk with mac mail

Hello everyone, and thanks for your patience as I know very similar queries have been answered already in previous discussions.
I have just bought my first mac after years of pc use.
I would love to be able to access my hotmail.co.uk account through mac mail on os x tiger.
However, despite following all previous posts as accurately as I possibly can, this still won't work. For this reason, I have transcribed absolutely everything I enter into the account setup below, to see if anyone can see where I keep going wrong.
I have downloaded httpmail (http://www.automagic-software.com/products.php) as suggested on previous posts.
Also as suggested on a previous discussion, I have set mail to run using rosetta, to help deal with any complications I may face using my intel macbook.
My email address is [email protected]
Now, when I go to set up my account on mail, I enter:
    PAGE 1: GENERAL INFORMATION
    Account type: httpmail
    Account description: Hotmail acccount
    Full name: Alistair White
    Email address: [email protected]
    PAGE 2: INCOMING MAIL SERVER
    Incoming mail server: www.hotmail.co.uk
    Username: awhitetbn
    Password: ******
I am then presented with the account summary:
    Account description: Hotmail account
    Full name: Alistair White
    Email address: [email protected]
    Username: awhitetbn
    Incoming mail server: www.hotmail.co.uk
    SSL: off
    Outgoing mail server: services.msn.com:awhitetbn
    SSL: off
Next page: Conclusion: a new account has been created.
Ok! All seems well, so I send a test email. However, I get the following message:
Cannot send message using the server services.msn.com:awhitetbn
Use the pop-up menu below to try a different outgoing mail server.
However, in the pop-up menu, the only option I have is:
    send message using: HTTPmail:awhitetbn
I would dearly love this to work and I sense I am not far from the solution... If anyone can help me I would greatly appreciate it. Where am I going wrong?
    Many many thanks
    Alistair White

  • Thawte Personal Email Cert - Problem with Mac Mail

Hi, I have requested a free cert from Thawte and there seems to be a problem with Mac Mail (using 2.0.7).
I am using Entourage to send a signed message from [email protected] to [email protected]
If I check mail for [email protected]
Mac Mail reports "There was a problem reading the digital signature for this message"
If I check the same account with Thunderbird, everything works fine.
Anyone else having or had problems?
    -chris

    Hi,
Thanks for the responses. I requested another cert and that did not help. Here is the process I used after requesting another cert.
    1. Logged into www.thawte.com and requested a new cert.
    2. Using Firefox, retrieved the cert.
    3. In Firefox, backed up the cert to a pkcs12 file.
    4. Opened Keychain and deleted the first cert.
    5. Imported the pkcs12 backup file. Imported fine.
    6. Open Entourage, under tools, accounts, exchange profile, security, selected the cert Thawte Freemail Member.
    7. Checked all 3 options (sign, include cert, clear test signed.
    8. Created a test message from Entourage to .mac account address.
    9. Checked mail with Mac Mail and signature fails.
    10. Check with 1.02 Thunderbird and it comes back with valid digital signature.
Next, I sent a test email to my Exchange account from Entourage and that message verifies fine. It just seems to not work when I check my email with Mac Mail.
    Thanks!

    Pop account

Check your mail preferences. The example below is from the mail app that comes with mac. In my case I'm using yahoo mail which is a POP3 account. POP stands for post office protocol which is the set of rules used by a POP mail account to transfer mail. You can learn more about it here if interested. If the box below is checked, all the mail will be downloaded to your computer when you check your mail using the built in mail app and removed from the mail server. Here is another page to help you set up your hotmail account for use the the mac mail application. Hope this clears things up.

  • Password issues with Mac Mail-help!

I created a new email account through my internet provider (Comcast) and I can no longer access my email although it is showing up on webmail. The comcast person said I would probably have to change my password. I tried doing this on Mac Mail but there doesn't appear to be the usual place to type in new password and then confirm. I am not sure what password they are asking for. The mail account was set up so long ago that I have never used any password when checking my account. I also notice if I delete the password, the password dots are back when I open preferences up again. I don't understand this and Comcast will not help with Mac Mail questions. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You said you never used a password when checking you mail. You must have a password on the account, I don't see how you couldn't.
When you go to www.comcast.net and go to the webmail client, you must enter your username and password in order to get your messages. It's this username & password that Apple Mail requires in order to access your email.
If you want/need to change your password, you can do this at www.comcast.net from within the webmail client. When you are at your inbox on the webclient, on the left side of the screen there is a link for "Preferences". Clicking that will take you to another page and one of the options is "Change Your Password". That's where you would go to change your password for that specific email account.
    Good luck,
    Bronson

    Hello,
After some searching, it appears that there are two programs that would sync my Nokia E50 notes with Mac Mail on my MacBook Pro - SyncMate and FoneLink. Both are priced at about $50 - a bit spendy. Has anybody use / compared the two? Are there other options?
    Thanks,

  • Exchange Server not working with Mac mail

Any tips on how exchange can work work with mac mail? I get connection errors.

    Hello Phil.
    Copied from Mail Help.
An Exchange account allows you to connect to your Exchange server via IMAP, and if you enter text in the Outlook Web Access Server field, Mail filters non-email related content from the server. (You can get the text you need to enter from your mail account provider.) For Exchange to work with Mail, Exchange administrators need to configure the Exchange server for IMAP access. Some system administrators may refer to an Outlook Web Access Server as an Internet Information Services (IIS) server.
Is the Exchange Server configured for IMAP access?

  • Problem sending emails with Mac Mail 1.3.11

Desperately in need of help. I'm able to receive but not send email using Mac Mail. I keep getting an error message:
"This message could not be delivered and will remain in your Outbox until it can be delivered.
The sender address [email protected] was rejected by the server"
I have already tried the following at the advice of AppleCare reps:-
Have verified & repaired disk utilities & keychains
    Have reinstalled the operating system
    Have trashed the mail.plist file
    Have trashed the outbox.mbox file
Getting quite frustrated now because we have a mac bookpro with identical mail settings and it is able to send and receive mail without any problems.Could it be the version of Mail I'm running ?
I initially thought that the problem related to having switched to a new ISP but the fact that one of the mac's has no problem has led me to be less convinced of that idea.
    Any suggestions gratefully accepted.
    Many thanks

I am having the same problem exactly. I can read e-mail, but get the same error message trying to send it. I can't use .Mac anymore--have to use alternate e-mail for the last month--since some time in October 2006.
I haven't changed anything on my G4, haven't upgraded anything, and the problem started about the time .Mac reported some customers were unable to use Mail for a couple of days in October.
I see nobody answered your post. Did you ever get your mail to work? I have repaired permissions, but I don't think it has anything to do with that.
    Thanks,

  • Outlook 2011 for Mac users must click send/receive to get new mail from exchange 2013 server

I recently switched our primary CAS servers over from a single exchange 2010 cas/mailbox/hub server to a couple new exchange 2013 CAS/Mailbox servers.  Exchange 2013 has cu3, and is hosted on windows server 2012.  Anyone who has their mailbox hosted
on one of these exchange 2013 servers has an issue where they must click the send/receive button to get new messages downloaded to their client. This is only the case for outlook 2011 for mac client.  Activesync clients, mac mail, OWA, and Outlook 2010/13

Where can I look or what can I check to troubleshoot this issue?
