since upgrading to windows 10 I have lost my audio.....can't play MP3 music and the system sounds do not work...searched for sound card driver and found three recommended...each one reported suitable hardware not found.....decided to reinstall the sound card driver from my windows 7 install, as luckily I backed up all my drivers before upgrading to OS10.....,although it installed, still no sound...have removed device and drivers and let the laptop reinstall after restart.....don't know what else to try.....don't suppose there is a function key muting sound that I don't know about....thanks

I read your post on the HP Support Forums and see that you are having issues with your HP Pavilion dv6700 Entertainment Notebook PC. I understand that since you have upgraded to Windows 10, you are having an issue with your sound not working. I would be happy to assist you. Please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices, as these could cause some issues. Have you tried in the Device Manager to update the driver that is currently installed? Have you tried to select "Find New Hardware" in the Device Manager?Have you tried connecting headphones to see if the Sound issues persist that way?Have you tried to uninstall in the following order: 1. Uninstall the sound driver in Device Manager2. Restart your Notebook3. Reinstall the driver? You can use the HP Support Assistant for drivers. Here is a link to the HP Support Assistant if you need it. Just download and run the application and it will help with the software and drivers on your system that need updating for Windows 10. If you choose to download the drivers from the HP Driver's Page and there is not a driver in the Windows 10 Column, there should be one in the Windows 8.1 column. The Windows 8.1 drivers should work in Windows 10 also. Have you tried the Disable and then Enable method? Looked like stable. Played 3 WOT games in a row without any problems (before it would crash in the second game). In the 4th game it blued screen and said "Clock Watchdog Timeout"

Since upgrading to windows 8.1 I can not see any local files in the files window.

I have recently upgraded to windows 8.1 and can no longer see my local files in the files window. All remote files for all remote sites are visable.
If I change sites under local view get error thet dreamweaver can not update cache

I honestly don't know if DW CS5 is compatible with Win 8.1. The OS compatibility FAQ only mentions DW CS6 & CC.

Since upgrade to Windows 8.1, ICloud does not work. I could click on buttons for Reminders, Notes, etc. and would take me into ICloud to share with other devices. No longer functions.

I can't help you with why your PC won't upgrade to W8.1, but I can tell you that if you manage to get W8.1 to install, you won't be able to get the graphics to work anymore.
There is no W8.1 driver for the graphics setup in your PC.
So maybe it is a good thing that you can't get it to work.

If there are problems with importing the IE Favorites in Firefox then export the favorites in IE to an HTML file and import that file in the Firefox Bookmarks Manager.
If you do not have the menu bar in IE then right-click the toolbar at the top to enable the Menu Bar.

You've mentioned that you already tried installing the drivers from the HP website. If the Windows 10 driver that you have downloaded does not work, I'd recommend trying the Windows 8.1 driver (the operating systems have the same core functionality, so the Windows 8.1 driver works fine on Windows 10). You can also try uninstalling the software you do have, and re-installing using the HP Printer Install Wizard. The Printer Install Wizard, can fix many software issues automatically. Hope this helps!

Problems connect to vpn since upgrading to Windows 8.1

Since upgrading from Windows 8.0 to 8.1, although normal web access is OK, I can no longer connect to vpn services - receiving error 619. Using another laptop running Windows 7 SP1 on the same router I can connect without any problems. Please help. I have

Since upgrading to my iPad Air to iOS 8.0.2., there is no sound coming at all--not even the lock sounds, or keyboard sounds. I cannot hear any music from iTunes, podcasts....nada. Try reseting your Ipad. Press and hold on both the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until the Apple logo appears.

Sounds have gone missing since upgrading to ios7

I have noticed that most of the custom sound files and ring tones that I had available and was using on my iphone 5 have since dissappeared since upgrading to IOS7. They were available on the list of sounds that appear in "settings>sounds" but they are just no longer listed there. Some of the sounds do appear when I do a search on iphone but they no longer appear in the list of sounds I can select for different events and people.
Why has this happened and is there a fix?
I can't believe an apple update would cause a problem like this, but its happened.

Lower sound quality / lower bass after upgrade to Windows 8

Hello, just upgraded to Windows 8 on my Pavilion m7.
Before, my audio quality was rich and bassy, using Beats Audio, and after the upgrade sounds poor and quite muted. No matter what I do, I cannot improve quality especially with the deep bass. I am using external speakers, not the ones built in laptop.
In order to troubleshoot, I did a factory restore back to Windows 7... sounded fantastic. When I redid a clean 8 install on top of that, back to the same lack of bass.
Has anybody else experienced something like this?

Sorry to hear about your audio issue during the upgrade. I will be happy to assist you with that. There are a couple of things that you can try. The first is uninstalling your current audio driver. Uninstall it through device manager.

Huge ntuser.dat.LOG1 since upgrade to Windows 8.1 prohibits roaming of user profile

a few days ago my PC (part of our domain) first started to have problems with my user profile. Our domain uses roaming profiles with a size limit of 30MB. My user.dat has a size of 12.5MB. Up to now this did not cause any problems (and does not cause any for
most users of our domain having a user.dat of similar size). However, after upgrading to Windows 8.1 I repeadly have problems with my profile exceeding its maximum size. After checking my profile, I found a ntuser.dat.LOG1 with 12,5MB in size and a ntuser.dat.LOG2
of 2MB. As far as I know these files are used to store temporary transactions for the user.dat. But why are they this large? Together they almost completely fill the profile. As an interesting side node the last modification of ntuser.dat.LOG1 dates back more
then seven days.
What is further puzzling me: ntuser.dat.LOG1 and ntuser.dat.LOG2 are not synchronized with the roaming profile on the server. At least they are not on the server. However there used to be much smaller versions of these files which could have been transfered
before the profile size exceeded its limit. Since these file seem not to be part of the roaming part of the profile, they should not count for the roaming profile size. However, they definitely do. Neglecting the registry files the largest file in my profile
is less than 500kb and there are very few files of this size. I checked locally as well as on our server.
Deleting the local profile and starting fresh using the roaming profile from our server does work for a day or two but then I run into the same problem. Especially, loosing all local profile data is inconvenient. I could start a new with a completely new
profile, but I am not convinced that it is a profile issue. In our organisation my computer is one of the first to move to Windows 8.1. Since my profile worked without problems for years now, I am worried that I ran into a Windows 8.1 issue. As users normally
start to complain about a roaming profile not synchronizing only after their local copy broke, I'd like to make sure that this is a isolated issue.
Anyone else experiencing similar issues? Any hint on how to solve the problem?

No, I did not find a solution. However, we moved away from roaming profiles and rely on folder redirection only. That works for us. Since we can redirect the most important folders there is no more need for roaming profiles (at least in our case).

Since upgrade to Windows 8, cannot save .rdp files under the Remote Desktop Connection application on the Desktop

Since I upgraded to Windows 8, I am no longer able to save individual Remote Desktop Connection files as .rdp files. I am talking about the traditional Remote Desktop Connection application on the Desktop that was in previous Windows versions, not the
Remote Desktop App from the Windows 8 store.
When I try to click on the Save button I get "An error occurred while saving to file"
When I try to click on the Save As button I get "Unable to open connection file" with the file address being where I tried to save it with the file name at the end.
Also when I upgraded to Windows 8, my .rdp files disappeared from my Documents folder.
I need to create different .rdp files for different programs that my employees get into on my server. Now I have to hand type all the info each time into the Programs tap on the Remote Desktop Connection window, because I can't save to an
.rdp file.
I like the Remote Desktop App from the Windows store but it won't let me designate specific programs to use using standard dos notation (ie c:\program files\ etc..). It just goes to my server desktop.
I want to promote Windows 8 to my employees but I need either .rdp files for the traditional Remote Desktop Connection or the ability to open specific programs using dos notation in the Windows Store Remote Desktop App.

You don't need to worry too much about what's in here. Save the text file as
filename.rdp then rightclick on the file and select edit. The familiar GUI rdp session editor will open. You can make changes in the GUI and
save or save as a different session.

I sucessfully upgrading to Windows 8.1 and everything was functioning after the upgrade. However, after the first time I restarted my system after the upgrade the intergrated soundcard no longer worked.
I attempted to remove and reinstall the RealTek audio driver, downloading the newest 8.1 compatible driver from the Lenovo support site.
The drive refused to installed, either via the executable or by manually installing the driver through a device manager upgrade.
So I attempted to install a stand alone soundcard, to no success.
In device manager this is displayed for both the integrated motherboard audio and the new Asus sound card:
Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code
52)
If I disable the driver driver signature enforcement, neither audio option works. Instead I get this error in device manager:
"Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing.
(Code 39)"
Attempting to update the driver in device manager, Windows tell me I am on the most up-to-date, recommended driver, yet at the same time refuses to
allow it to function.
Extremely frustrating.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have also attempted to clear out the registry Upper/Lower Filters to no success.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E96C-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
At that registry key, in the right window, is there, under "Name", either an UpperFilters orLowerFilters value?
If so, for each of the UpperFilters and/or LowerFilters value, what is listed under "Data"?
There could be an improper entry at one of these values which may be causing the problem.
