Loss of Window "Views"

Upgraded an App and when I restarted, all of my Folder settings (Icon size, Text size) all changed and the files within the folders were all jumbled up. I went through all the folders (!!!!!), reset/re-organized everything (open/close folders and they remain as I set them), but the same thing happens at every restart. I know this is probably simple to fix, but I must be too Simple for simple!

  • Every time I click a folder arrow to open...finder reframes my window view. And other finder problems

When using the finder windows sorted either by name or date modifed, when I click a folder arrow, the window reframes to the center (or some other spot) that means I need to scroll back to the folder. When I change an item in a folder when sorted by date modfied, it of course moves to the top, but my window view stays centered where I am, and I have to scroll to the top to find the folder I'm working on. Both situations have the feel of "what I'm working on just dissappeared". I have become used to it, but it is one of the things in Lion that I hate. Is there a workaround...a way to keep the finder window view where it is when I click the open folder arrow, or to reframe to the top if I make a folder change and have the sort set by date modifed?
Mail behaves in the same manner where the view of read and unread wildly scrolls itself when clicking an unread mail. I have tamed this by creating a smart mailbox of unread e-mail, but it seems to be some system wide preference for an unknown sort view that I would like to fix.
Also, when I choose the sort by label option in the finder window, all the red pops to the top, but then all the other labels are scattered and not sorted as a for instance...
Perhaps this is fixed in Mountain Lion?
    Thanks for any help.
I am preparing to upgrade to Mountain Lion this weekend, but if I have some system problem, I would like to resolve it before I go forward.

    Hello Josegued,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you may have a customized keyboard shortcut created. You can take a look at this article to see how to remove it.

  • How to get back old windows view on photoshop cc?

    Hey all,
It seems like somebody else must have asked this question at some point... but here it is again, because I can't find the answer! The old PS windows view was exactly what I needed. (the option for one or multiple views of the same file in different non-floating windows, located in the center menu bar. Mine is in 5.1.) It isn't there in PS CC (in the default view or any other that I can find, anyway.) I really need to have this so that I can display and compare several slightly different working versions of the same file side by side, one on top of the other, etc. This is also the easiest and most straightforward way to easily drag content from one comp to another, IMHO, but that's not the biggest issue. Being forced to work with floating windows as the only option is just not something I'm willing to do. It's almost getting to the point where this is the biggest single issue that would keep me from moving to CC.
Is there any way of bringing back this old windows view option? It's hard to believe that there wouldn't be-- I can't be the only one who needs this for the best workflow-- but who knows... All thoughts and info appreciated.

    Look under Window>Arrange.
The Application Bar was removed starting in cs6, but all the same stuff should be under Window>Arrange

  • Modal popup window refresh the parent (calling) window/view

I have a modal popup window that is adding detail records.  When this window is closed via the Hide method in my controller I would like to refresh the parent (calling) window/view.
What is the best way to do this?
    Regards,
    Diane

    Here's my process.....
    2-windows & 3 views
Window 1 - Selection View and Detail View
Window 2 - Add View (used as a modal popup window called by a button click on the detail view)
Selection View has all the options for obtaining a list of data for the detail view.  The detail view has an Add button.  Component controller has the hide method and access to the other components that do the update/query methods. On the detail view the user can click Add and a popup modal window shows.  User enters data and clicks either the add or cancel button.  The Detail view needs to refresh to show the additional data that has been added by the modal window.  There are calcuated values in the detail view from a supply function.  This function is not running and the values are not changed.
What should be put in the hide method that will cause the detail view to obtain new data and supply the calculated values?  If I was using the Add view as part of the same window as the detail/selection views I'd just put in a navigation link between the detail and add views and fire the plug.  I like the idea of the popup window so I'd like to get this to work.
I put the wdContext.initialize() in the hide method - which yes - caused the detail view to run - however the context lost all the key values so I received a data not found.  I then tried to initialize those nodes that did not contain the key values but the detail view did not display new values.
    Thanks for any ideas.....Diane

  • Images look different in Lightroom than in Windows viewer

I just bought a new NEC monitor, but had this problem with my old monitor too.  I'm actually guessing its not a monitor issue at all.
When I view and edit an image in Lightroom then export it as a JPG it looks way more red and more saturated in windows viewer than in lightroom.  My monitor is calbrated using a Spyder2.  Is there a way to make my windows viewer have the same color?  I hate having to open another application to review the edits.
    Thanks

Well, yeah, but you could export in sRGB and get a lot closer.
What’s the old saying? Close only counts in atom bombs?
Saving sRGB may get “closer” but it doesn’t ensure a match. Only using ICC aware applications can get us to that goal. And assuming someone, like myself is using an extended gamut display, something far closer to Adobe RGB (1998), an sRGB image in a non color managed app will look butt ugly. So no, this is not a solution. Using ICC aware software to view your images IS!

  • PowerBook 17"  window views do not stick.

For several years I've set window view from Finder > View to List view then went on to view option and chose set for all windows. It stuck. The I installed three pieces of software. Two I have since removed.
PocketMac for a Blackberry 8330 Phone sold from Alltel
    Missing Sync for Blackberry (purchased)
Then the latest Quicktime 7.6 update through system updater.
Now ever time I start, restart, or Logout/Login some (but not all) folders revert to icon view, unsorted and uncleaned up.
I've removed pocket Mac and Missing sync.
can't revert to 7.5.x to much to deal with.
I've reset PRAM. by option command P&R and by removing battery unplugging power, opening holding power switch down.
To check for a bad Pram battery I've removed power, removed regular Battery and let it set for 20 minutes. then replace battery, and power. everything sticks.
    I'm at wits end.

I think I have a bad PRAM Battery.
    Here's what I did.
Today I had to go out of house for few hour.
I went to date and time and checked item to set date time automatically.
So I: removed Battery (regular Battery)
    unplugged the Power Supply.
went out for the few hours.
Came Back while battery still out I opened lid held down power button for 6 seconds.
    Closed lid
    Replaced Battery
    Started up computer.
Copter said after booting up date set to time before ... Some application may not work correctly.
I had done this before but had not unchecked automatically set date and time.
What get me is that on my G4-500 sing OSX.3.9 when PRAM battery went dead I had to set the Location and the date style and Currency style as well.
On this the only, date and time appears outwardly.
I supposed the windows positions are affected by battery.
Going to be a PIA to have the Battery Changed went FixIt site and they had 6 pages of instruction on just how to get to Battery. Believe it will be cheaper for me to have it done, although That's what I use to do for a living. Opinion?

  • Colour calibration which is correct PS, Windows viewer or IE?

    Hello.
I have a iOne display 2 calibrator, Im using Photoshop CS5, and viewing pictures in the standard windows photo viewer.  Im producing digital art to be primaraly viewed on the web.
Recently Iv been working on a project within Photoshop to get the best post work done. Today I calibrate my monitor  and found pictures viewed within PS different from windows viewer by the fact that PS apears to have more contrast and Saturation.  I open the same image in Internet explorer and its different again by being even more saturated plus contrast, which one is correct?
In Windows Color Managment The ICC profile made by ione is set to the monitor, and in Advanced tab the Device profile is set to sRGB IEC61966-2.1, everything els is system default.
Within PS iv set the Colour settings to the ione made profile.  Using Proof for RGB monitor shows no difference.  If I have PS, IE and windows viewer showing the same image at the same time, and I change the ICC profiles, all three images are effected, yet non of them match?
I havent a clue whats going on, and what app is using what colour managment.  I want to use PS to get the best ballance for the Web viewer, the problem is which is correct?
    Thanks.

    Rectro wrote:
windows photo viewer and photo match, but IE is always with more saturation and contrast.  By using the proof RGB monitor it looks closer to that on web
Yes, this is all normal. IE will usually be off a bit. And proofing to Monitor RGB is a simulation of how it will look without color management.
The point that Noel makes above, about the difference between calibration and profiling, is an important one. It confuses a lot of people at first.
Another thing that might help keeping the concepts of color management clear, is this: Don't focus on the individual pieces, the individual profiles. Focus on the process, the relationship. The important thing is the translation between the profiles. The profile is only there to facilitate that translation.
So you have a source profile, which in this case is the document profile, sRGB. That's a standard color space. Then you want to display that on your monitor, which does not have a standard color space, but a rather irregular one that is specific to that particular monitor.  That's why all monitors display differently.
The calibrator measures the monitor and makes a full description of its particular characteristics (after it has been calibrated). This is the monitor profile. So what happens then is that the source profile is converted, translated, to this destination profile. The result is that the file displays correctly, on all calibrated systems, because they all have this sRGB file translated to their individual monitor profiles.
So you can see it matters which profile goes where, and that the two should not be confused.
Iv never even known untill today that a profile is or can be embedded into the image itself, or even how iv done it?
The document profile is normally embedded by Photoshop. But you can choose to not embed it, either in the Save dialog or through Save For Web (where the default is to not embed). There are checkboxes for this.
If you don't embed, color managed applications will either assign a profile or not do anything at all, just send the numbers straight through.

  • Window View Options saved without having to manually set each one of them?

    Hello!
I recently upgraded to Snow Leopard from Tiger.
Okay, why do my finder window views change across all finder windows once I change the view of one?  I prefer to have some windows to be viewable by icon, but I want some to be viewed as a list.  In Tiger, my settings for every folder that I opened were saved specifically to the folder based on how I last viewed them.  Under Snow Leopard, when I open one folder and get List view, I change it to Icon view only to have every other folder automatically set to Icon view.  It's like I have to manually save every single finder winow with the preference I want to view it in, whereas Tiger automaticaly remembered how I last viewed each window.  This is quite annoying.
    Thanks!

The inherit thing is not, and I repeat not, quite the same behavior in versions before Snow Leopard.
Not exactly, no; but the principle is the same: the child inherits the parent's characteristics.
In OS 9 it was even more so in at least one way - if you changed the size/shape of the parent folder's window (making it tall and narrow, for example), the initial window for a folder created thereafter in the parent folder would match the altered size/shape of the parent. That doesn't happen in Lion, maybe not in Snow Leopard (can't boot into it right now to check).
I go back to '86 on Macs, to a Mac Plus. I've used every OS version from then up through OS 9.2.2, including all point updates. I've owned most generations of Macs, with the glaring exceptions of the G3 Beige/Platinum models and the G5 models.
I think my favorite OS is OS 9.1. I stayed using OS 9.1 (on a G4 (DA) model) for as long as I could - its software still does what it used to do, and I still use that machine for a lot of things. What made me finally get a newer machine running OS X was the net - too many sites, like BBC, became unavailable with OS 9. I jumped straight from OS 9 to Snow Leopard, skipping the intermediates.
Frankly, I don't like OS X all that much. It's too pre-defined, not enough customizations available - like the creators of it felt like they had better knowledge of what my workflow needs are than I do.
And, an alert in case you haven't come across it yet - in Lion there is no Save (beyond an initial Save wherein you name and place the doc) or Save As (none at all). "Save" is automatic now - you can no longer close a doc and choose to not save changes as a quickie undo; however, you can revert to previous versions if you happened to remember to 'Save a Version' before making changes to the doc. There is a Duplicate menu item which can lead to the same result as a Save As - but takes more steps to get there. Nuts. I can see no improvement in these changes, no increase in convenience, no reason for them at all.
But there they are. And, I expect that in time I'll get used to a change in the way I do things. But I do not like having that change mandated.

  • Colors differ in PhotoShop and Windows Viewer

    Dear members
    I got a problem.. when I adjust/ photoshop a picture in PhotoShop cs3 I save it.
Then when I open it in the Windows Viewer.. the colors are different from PhotoShop. Some are lighter other darker.
When I send this to print. The colors of the Windows Viewer match the result. And the colors of PhotoShop doesn't.
I've got my screen also calibrated.
Does anyone know where the problem is?

    Dave,
Really there was no offense taken. It's only that these problems are a bit more complicated than simply calibrating the monitor. Learning to understand these things takes time. For me it took many long mountain bike rides and hikes in the Santa Monica Mountains where I could clear my head enough for the light bulb of understanding to turn on.
I might have reacted a but harshly too. Really, we're all here to learn and share information and hopefully not get too confused.
    Assie,
"'Trust what you see in Ps and don't worry about Viewer as it's just an approximation'
"I think this is with my system different. When i see a picture in viewer and i let it printed professionally. The colors on the printed picture are the same of the viewer.. and not the same with those in PS. "
Good, your back in the thread. In order to help you we need to know a couple of things. What is your RGB working space? What monitor do you have and how has it been calibrated - gamma, white point, luminence, calibration device, etc?
With the images you are having printed professionally, what is the data flow for the printing? What type of printer is being used and what is the lab's color management setup? Are you sending them tagged files and if so, what profile is being embedded?
Really the best way to wade through all this is one baby step at a time. First make sure that your screen is calibrated properly (this means hardware colorimeter) and your ambient lighting is correct for the luminence of your screen. Prints need to be viewed under a standardized light source. Inkjets love the lighting from Solux (solux.net). If you are going to display prints under other types of light, then it's best to make custom profiles that factor in the light source as part of the profile.
Once you have your monitor properly calibrated, you can be reasonbly sure that what you see in Ps is what is in your file. For any kind of output, you need to customize the data for the output device. Normally this is done with output profiles, and usually better results come from custom profiles. You have to know what's happening to your data at every step of the way to determine where things are going awry if you get prints that are not meeting your expectations, so tackle one thing at a time and don't move on to the next until your'e sure the last step has been done correctly or it will be difficult to pinpoint what to change.

  • Creative Cloud causing loss of Window Focus and preventing screensaver from running?

I am running Windows 8.1, and have been very annoyed lately with an intermittent loss of window focus. Any window I am working in would quickly lose focus and then regain it.  Frequently I would be entering data into a field, and, while typing, the loss and recapture of focus would cause me to type over/replace everything I had just typed.  Also, my screensaver would not run.  Screensaver preview would work, but the screensaver never ran on its own.
After a few hours of Internet searching, and by using some Windows tools, I discovered a plethora of system errors related to CoreSync.exe.  This executable is part of Adobe Creative Cloud.  I uninstalled Creative Cloud, and now the problems have vanished.  Are there any known workarounds for this?  I do not want Creative Cloud installed if I have to put up with these issues.

  • Unable to print email content or from web but ok from windows viewer.

I have been using my Deskjet F4272 for at least one year with Windows 7 Pro 64 bit operating system.
Now I cannot print the contents of emails or web or scan anything. The only way I can print is to carry out a screen grab using the snipping tool  and open the item in Windows viewer and print from there with no problem.
I have 3 Windows Pc's and the problem exists on all of them. They are running with latest updates.
Recently I have bought AVG anti virus which is installed on these PC's. I have downloaded the HP diagnostics tool which tells me all is OK ! I have downloaded the full install software (210Meg) and this tells me all is running OK !!!
Now I don't know how to proceed other than to chuck the printer away and go to another supplier !
    Any ideas anyone ?
    Regards. Chrisy

I don't know if this will help you, but I have an hp deskjet 2512 and a dell computer.  I could always print emails and then today it would not print the content of the email, only the heading.  I have been searching on here for a solution, but have found nothing.  Just for the heck of it, I tried to print another email and after clicking on print I clicked on "pages" , where you can indicate what page you want printed and it worked!  It printed the entire email.  Go figure.
