Loss photos while updated 4s

Contacts are good, but apps and photos r not appearing. iCloud not showing anything and theres no recent back up

the auto-rebuild process can cause more harm than good in some cases, so play it save
If the database is damaged the auto rebuild can bring the damage to light. It does not actually "harm" the library; the harm was in having a corrupt database to begin with. Rebuilding does not risk the photos themselves.
call applecare, say iphoto when it askes for your system, iapps will take care of it for you
If they can get the solution here, then the call is unnecessary. They have little else to add to what Terence, Old Toad, and many others here can advise. If the auto rebuild does not work and the user has no reliable back-up, the next step is to create and populate a new library.
With respect,
S.

  • Lost photos while updating to iOS 5

First I updated itunes to 10.5, and then I downloaded and installed iOS5 on my iphone 4. Nothing was automatically synced before iOS5 installation, but itunes showed that it was backing up data. After installation, when itunes restored the backup, I realized that I'd lost all my photos, videos and some contacts. Is there any way I can get them back?

First things first, go to Settings > General > About. Look at photos. If it reads how many you originally had, they should be on your iPhone, just not showing up in the Photos app. This happened to me, it confused me very much, how could my Settings read that I had nearly 530 photos, but only about 150 actually show up? They were even in this tab called events, which disappeared when I did these two steps, which seem to have resolved my problem:
    1) Sign into iCloud and turn on photo stream.
    2) Power cycle the iPhone. (I think this is the step that actually resolved my problem)
Like I said above, I think step 2 is what actually resolved my problem, as with many iDevices, a simple power cycle seems to resolve many issues. From what I have read online, it seems that when iTunes restores your iPhone after the iOS5 update, it relocates your photos to a different folder, which will be found after a power cycle. Once your phone powers back on, go into the Photos app and check for your photos, they should be there and in the original order they were in before the update! I hope this helps you, good luck!

  • Lost photos while updating os

I have an iphone 3G and updated the operating system to ios 6.1.3 through the itune site.  I lost all of my photos and did not have icloud with the old os.  Is there a way to retrieve the old photos?

Photos in the Camera Roll should be imported to the computer just like any digital camera. If you performed a backup prior to the update, you should be able to restore to that backup, and the photos should be there. If you did not do a backup prior to the update, the photos are gone.

  • My contacts and photos were erased while update how do i get them back?

my contacts and photos were erased while update how do i get them back?

What Kilted said.  If your photos or contacts were synced from another computer, get them there.  Or if they have become unchecked in iTunes, re-check them and then sync.  I had different things synced from two computers, and I think something like this happened to me.  Anyway, now I will sync by wifi so probably won't have this worry any more.

  • While updating software on my iPod touch 4 my computerswitched itself off and now iTunes is asking me to restore to original settings but there are photos on my iPod that have not been backed up. Am I going to lose them?

While updating software on my iPod touch my computer switched itself off and now iTunes is asking me to restore to original settings. I have photos on my iPod that were not backed up so will I lose them if I resore to original settings? If so is there any way I can get them back?

After you restore to factory settings/new iPod you can restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    That is your only choice

  • Data back up taken in 2.1 is lost while updating to 2.3

It is compulsory to lose backup while upgrading from 2.1 to 2.3. Its really big big disappointing feature of the update. No care is taken by even google to restore sbf type back up by putting support software in market.
I want to restore some of important sms back up. I need help from Sony Ericsson. I am sure that so many people have lost their back up while updating to 2.3.
It is compulsory to put such a notice display while updating to 2.3 that you will loose the back up and will not be able to restore back of 2.1 in 2.3. I want to file a case against the company for the valuable data loss and for not to inform such an important data lose.

Hi, download the following apk file from link provided and install it to your phone, http://www.elita-clan.com/downloads/backup_and_restore_v010935.apk.
Download it to PC/Laptop, then transfer it to phone SD Card. Make sure you have a File Manager app to search and install the apk file.

  • While updating my iphone, I am receiving a notice that itunes is not available.  Is system not avaialbe and should I just try later?

while updating my iphone, i recevied a message that iTunes was not availabel and to try later.  Is the system not available or is there something wrong with my computer

    Hey csumner1,
Thanks for the question. I understand you are receiving a "Not enough free space" alert when attempting to sync your new iPhone 4s. The following article may help to resolve your issue:
iOS: "Not enough free space" alert when trying to sync
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1503
    Resolution
Try disconnecting and reconnecting your device, then syncing again to solve this issue.
Orphaned files may remain on your iOS device if it is physically disconnected while syncing music, podcasts, videos, or photos. This can prevent iTunes from syncing the iOS device on subsequent sync sessions. When this happens, the Capacity indicator in iTunes may report a large amount of "Other" disk usage for the iOS device. To resolve this issue:
    1. Turn off the music or photo sync option in iTunes for the device.
    2. Click Apply to sync the changes to the device.
    3. Turn the music and photo sync options for the device on again.
    4. Click Apply again to try to sync the device to iTunes.
              - If the 'Not enough free space' alert appears, continue to step 5.
    5. Turn off the automatic syncing functions for the iOS device. To do this:
              - Select the iOS device from the iTunes window and click the Summary tab.
              - Deselect "Automatically sync when this device is connected" and select the "Sync only checked songs and videos" checkbox.
              - Click Apply to sync the changes to the device.
              - Reduce the amount of data that is being synced to the device and resync the device. For example, if syncing your Music library exceeds the memory capacity of the device, choose "Selected playlists" to transfer rather than "All songs and playlists" under the Music tab in iTunes.
If the 'Not enough free space' alert appears, continue to step 6.
    6. Restore using iTunes.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • Contact photo not updating widget

    Hello...heres the short version:
I have a widget of a contact...and my contacts are sync'ing with Facebook...When my contact updates their photo on Facebook; my Contact App updates; but my widget does not.
    Heres the longer version:
Okay I know there are two ways to create a widget/contact.  For instance....lets say you have a Contact named John Smith...lets say you talk to him more than anyone so you want a Fast Shortcut....and John Smith has a full fledged Facebook Profile.  John Smith has his name, phone numbers, address, and more.  So you want a quick and easy way to get access to John Smith; right?
Theres two ways to create this shortcut on one of your homescreens....The first option I'm sure everyone will do is to hold down on part of your screen and choose 'add widget'...as you scroll thru you will come across a 'Contact' widget...its a 1x1 size...which is the size of any app on your homescreen...so you click it and drag it to a space on your homescreen.  Next it will bring up your full conact list...here you will scroll down and select John Smith.  John Smith now appears on your homescreen pages.  Click the "icon" and you have quick access to Name/Phone Numbers/Address/Facebook/and Maybe More
Now lets say John Smith updates his photo on Facebook, you know this cause you just launched Facebook an hour ago....so you go into your Contact List...and you're like "hmmm no updated photo"...so you go into your Settings>Accounts>Facebook>And you see the last time it sync'd with your phone...which was 1 day ago...you're thinking "okay no biggie theres a 'sync now' option"  Voila.....Your Contact App now reflects his updated photo....so you back out of your Contacts or you Click your Home Button and you see that..........yep....his photo didnt update.  So you remove the battery...you reboot device....,and no go.
Now you could just remove this shortcut and re add it but what if you were accustomed to previous cell phones that automatically updated the photo?  This is where I am landing...I'm here asking if the Galaxy S4 has this feature?
Ahhh dont forget theres another option to go by......
So remember I said the common way of adding the shortcut was going thru Widgets?  Well theres 1 more way of adding a contact to your home screen....and that is...going into your contacts...find the one you want...John Smith...Hold down on the screen til a menu appears and if you scroll to bottom (Galaxy S4) theres an option that says "Add shortcut to Home Screen".  And voila...theres John Smith on your homescreen...His photo is the Icon/App that again you have easy/quick access to all the numbers he published...his Map (Address) and a quick link to Facebook + others if he has it....
But again when John Smith updates his Facebook Profile pic....and you know cause you just exited it...You re sync' under Settings and again while it reflected on your Contact App...it still didnt affect your Shortcut!
So my previous Cell phone was a Motorola Droid Razr (1st Edition)....my droid razr did have that feature...when someone changed their profile pic it would reflect the widget too.
The Galaxy S4 (for me) doesnt do that....my Contact Photo still changes when I manually perform a Sync and it shows up in the Contact App, but it doenst reflect the Widget....is this natural for Samsung?  Or is my Device not working correctly?
    Thanks

    Heres an update:
Okay whether you use the Widget to add a contact to your homescreen
Or you go into contacts; find your contact and hold down to select menu that says "add shortcut"
Either way....if they have a photo it will product a photo icon on your homescreen.
Everyone knows this....however what I did find out is that when a person has a Facebook linked with that contact and they update a photo; when you click that Shortcut their updated photo will appear in that small window of theirs...however it wont update your shortcut you created....does that make sense?
As to why? I dont know

  • Aperture deleting photos while I sleep...

Someone else had this issue, but their thread was closed so I can't reply to it:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2639241?start=0&tstart=0
I just started using Aperture 2 days ago. I linked it to Facebook, and uploaded photos from my Dad's birthday. I wasn't impressed that there was no obvious way to choose whether you want a standard or high-rez upload, but as it turns out it seems it defaults to high-rez. That's fine I guess–I'm long used to Facebook's cruel compression algorithims destroying my work. That's not Aperture's fault.
What IS Aperture's fault is its propensity for deleting photos from my albums on a whim. About 2 hours after I'd finished the upload, I got a Facebook message: "why did you take the photos down?". Huh? I checked, and sure enough they were all gone. That was particularly upsetting because all the nice comments were gone too. Grrrrr. Take them down?–I'd done no such thing. I reposted them manually, then started uploading shots I'd taken of my friend's new baby. I did this from Aperture again. When I went to bed last night the photos were all there.
This morning I checked Facebook and I see a post asking why the baby photos were all gone. All but one–the one I'd originally uploaded manually before adding others to that album via Aperture. This really irks me because their baby was about a day old when I uploaded the photos, and tons of family members had left great comments on the photos. All are now gone.
Suffice it to say I'm less than pleased. I've removed the Facebook syncing from Aperture, and will do it manually from now on. I'm clearly not the only one who's had this problem, so it seems something needs to be addressed in the UI. Otherwise my transition from iPhoto to Aperture has been reasonably smooth. I'm still evaluating whether or not the upgrade was worth it, but if only because I can disable 'Faces', I'm willing to keep learning about Aperture.
Thanks Apple. Love ya, just need you to tidy this app up a little.
    Cheers,
    Jason

Same thing happened to me while updating my Library, except it deleted about 4 years worth of photos, a few thousand images, comments, and tags -- even photos it never had anything to do with. Basically my entire Facebook upload history. Gone. Didn't even warn me.
That's it, we're through Apple. I have finally had it with your ****.

  • HT4623 does ios 7 allow iPhone 4s to take simultaneous photos while video recording ?

i have iPhone 4s. i want to know if i can click photos while video recording . will this feature be added in iOS 7 for iPhone 4s or is there an app for this ?

iOS 6 currently only offers this feature to iPhone 5 & iPod Touch 5th gen so it is a hardware limitation of the 4s & will not be addressed in a software update.

First go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup and make sure your backup appears at the bottom (under Back Up Now), and that it doesn't say Incomplete Backup.  That will confirm that your backup exists and is usable.
Then go to Settings>General>Reset, tap Erase All Content and Settings, then go through the setup screens on your device and when given the option, choose Restore from iCloud Backup.  Make sure you phone is connected to wifi and your charger while it is restoring.  More details here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766.  (I don't believe you have to turn off Find My iPhone if you are erasing all content and settings.  It will prompt you if you do.)
