Loss windows 7 wireless

I upgraded to Mavericks on October 26, 2013 - I'm able to connect to the internet on the Mac end but after running VMWare I discovered I'm unable to connect to the web using browsers in Windows 7. Is this a known problem and if so how do I fix this? Should I simply reinstall Windows 7?

Did you install the Windows drivers after booting into Windows during installtion?
You have posted two issues related to drivers. One about displays and this post about networks. I think you did not complete the Windows installation process according to the installation guide. http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/boot_camp_install-setup_10.7.pdf
And Boot Camp related issues should be discussed in the Boot Camp forum where the Boot Camp gurus hang out. https://discussions.apple.com/community/windows_software/boot_camp

  • How to remove the pop-up window ''Wireless Radio Status" for t430s

Hi, I have owned my t430s for now about 2 years without any major complaints recently I've had to use the fn + f5 function quite frequently, because of my poor internet connection. so that way i can reset which signal I want to choose because the default signal I am connected to is not mine. My problem is similar to what is posted here: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-Tablet-and-Helix/how-to-remove-the-pop-up-window-Wireless-Radio-Status/td-p/1191059 I really want to get rid of the pop up for this feature, I've tried to follow what the other thread user's have done and try out their solutions but it does not work for my t430s i tried changing the pmev thing to what was posted in the thread. Can anyone help me? Thanks!

I already tried that as mentioned in my original post, it doesn't work. I still get the pop up message: this is me pressing fn + f5

  • Vista-windows wireless service can't start......

Hi I have 2 XP desktops and a Vista Home laptop all sharing internet through a lynksys wireless router for weeks. I've had no problems untill a couple days ago, the Vista laptop suddenly couldnt see the network let alone connect to it. The WIFI light is on. Ive tried the useless repair connection button but it says "windows wireless service is not running on this computer" so i click repair only to be told it cant fix the problem. Is ther a way to start the service? I cant find it in services.mcs or msconfig. I ran sfc /scannow and it said there were errors but they couldnt be fixed. Ive tried everything and called Dell tech support but they say it has to be an OS error and all i can do is backup and reinstall the whole OS but I would prefer not to. Any ideas? Please help!!!!!!

    Hi again,
As you all had the same problem, I had it too. I got a nasty virus/spyware and my anti-virus didn't got it.
After removing the virus/spyware, and when I wasn't able to use my wireless internet connection became really really frustrating including the fact that no internet resource was available on this issue.
After investigating a little, I tried to restore my windows services to the original state. After typing 'windows vista default services' in Google I found a script that supposed to do what I was needed. That site contained also a description for each windows service, so this way I found out about the wireless service that was shut-down, and that couldn't be started because of a missing dependency (that couldn't be started using the windows software (I forgot the name for it .
So looking at the script (the one for defaulting the state of windows services), and finding the name for that dependency that was stopped by that mallware, I did it a try and it worked.
So, funny thing, I'm not a windows fan ("Long live UNIX"), my expertise with windows is fairy limited, and with a little luck I figured out.
Why I was so stubborn? I had to chat with my girlfriend
Funny thing though is that some one stoled my laptop 1 mo later and I lost my girlfriend too )
Regarding the answer to the question if your computer is still infected.... I have no idea....

  • Access Connections does not accept Windows Wireless Config

    Hi All,
We are rolling out RADIUS/802.1x wireless lan in our enterprise. The wireless settings are deplyed via AD grouo policy - no problems there.
I have an issue when i configure my access connections (ver 5.21) on my T61 machine. I configure AC to use Windows wireless security settings whcih are picked up correctly. The issues occur when i switch from this profile to another profile for exampls and vice versa. AC seems to think that i need to configure my wlan security settings each time i switch to that profile and wont connect. I get an error message:
The SSID 'WM2009' selected for this profile must be configured in windows. Click OK to configure the wireless settings in Windows'.
I know that the wireless settings are fine, as i can connect with the window wireless client fine - its just AC that has the issue.
    Any ideas appreciated!

Domain policy wireless profiles are not compatible with Access Connections.
The problem stems that Domain profiles are stored in a different part of the registry than a locally created WZC profile.  Since these are part of the domain policy, they cannot be altered locally.  Microsoft wouldn't provide Lenovothe encryption used (for obvious security reasons), so the domain policy based profiles can't be manipulated by Access Connections.
But we do provide an ADM template that can be used to do much the same things.

  • Windows wireless network printing

I have a windows wireless XP network with multiple PCs which all print to a single HP Deskjet 5650 printer connected to one of the PCs via USB. I also have a new Powerbook G4 (V 10.4) which talks to the network with no problem. I can connect to the internet and view shared files on the PCs. But I can't print. I have downloaded and installed Ghostscript V7.07.1 and HPIJS V 2.0.2.
The correct driver shows up in printer setup utility and the system allows me to configure it as a windows printer. But when I try to print to it, I get an error "unable to connect to SAMBA host, will try again in 60 sec..." What is the problem?

I appreciated your answer to the question posed by another person, and I thought it would work for me. I went through the whole process, but no luck at the end. The only variables, I think, are that I'm working with the new MacBook Pro on one end, and the HP LaserJet 1220 on the other, with a Dell notebook in the middle, attached to the printer and running on the wireless network. The MacBook also works on the same wireless network and can see the Dell and the printer, but I can't get anything to print from the MacBook. Any idea what's wrong? Incidentally, the same LaserJet does print well when I attach it directly to the MacBook via USB.
    Thanks for any tips.

Wi-Fi or another interference source. Try turning off the Wi-Fi and see if the problems continue. If that solves the problem, see if you can set your Wi-Fi to run in the 5 GHz range.

  • Exporting Access Connections profile / Import to Windows Wireless

    Hi All.
I have an issue which i really hope someone have a solution for as either googling and searching through 53 pages on this forum has not provided me with an answer. Here goes...
The hospital on which i'm working are about to change their IT-infrastructure and when this migration takes place i will no longer be able to use Access Connections. I have about 30 profiles in AC and all of them with a security key which would be hell to setup again through windows wireless.
Do any of you know of a way to export profiles from AC and then import them to Windows Wireless?
    Thanks in advance!

While it still connects to the internet through the Windows(?) "open network and sharing center the Thinkvantage Technologies "access connections windows wireless service"  has stopped working.  It worked fine for a while (4-6 weeks).
Any ideas on how to get it started again?
    Thanks

  • Conflict with WRT160N and Windows Wireless Network Connection

I have a WRT160N router connected to a Verizon FIOS cable modem with five computers (all Windows based) wirelessly connected to the N router.  Four of the computers auto detect the N router connection when the computer starts up using Windows Wireless Network Connection and operate well.  One of the computers, which is the only one running Easylink for router configuration, will not connect through the Wireless Network Connection.  I have to use Easylink to manually connect.  The WNC gives a msg that Windows cannot configure this wireless connection and to configure the wireless connection using Wireless Zero Configuration service.  When I configure WZC correctly the WNC sees all available networks and allows me to select the Advanced Wireless checkbox to allow Windows to connect to the wireless network.  However, when I reboot the computer none of the configuration parameters are saved and I am back to manually connecting using Easylink and going through the entire process again.   Any suggestions?    Thx

Uninstall the EasyLink and connect manually. I think EasyLink 3.0 or later is coming soon ..

  • Adding Airport Express to Existing Windows Wireless Network

My fiance has an existing Windows wireless network. I have an Airport Express I want to add to the network so I can "broadcast" my iTunes (or her's) through a powered speaker system in another room?
My question is...is that possible? And if so, how?
I've tried running my Airport Setup Assistant and restarting the Airport Express to no avail and would appreciate any suggestions.

Connect to the wireless network connected to the net (ie the (so-called) Windows wireless network**.
Having hard reset the Airport Express, run the Assistant and configure a new base station and configure it to connect to the existing wireless network.
** There is no such thing as a Windows wireless network, as 802.11b/g is the same standard used by Apple and other wireless router manufacturers, it is not Windows specific in any way.

I was able to install the printer without any problems. but once the USB cable is removed and i go wireless that there is a cocnnection loss.  Both pc and printer are set up on same network and the " wireless network test" shows the wireless as  ON. and working. and the print display dose show the sold blue light as on.
I have uninstalled it complet and re install without any luck. DL all the latest software and drivers and also flashed the firmware on the printer. I also tried the print doctor and read up a tone on here and other web sites.

  • Loss of wireless connection with 350n

I am having a terrible time with loss of connection with my 350 N wireless router. The router itself is on top of a bookshelf less than 50 feet away from both of my wireless desktops, and faces straight down the hallway that both rooms the computers are in open from. Often when I start up my computer it refuses to acknowledge that there is a wireless network present in the house and the only way I can make it detect it is if I powercyle the router--which is a pain. Even sitting directly next to the router it will never recognize better than 85% signal strength. And when I load (not play, just initiate loading) download-heavy content such as streaming video or an MMORPG program the connection will often drop and then reconnect seconds later. Upon performing a speed test it unfailingly indicates that my upstream is twice as fast as my downstream, which reads at only around 1165 Mbps--which is absurd as my modem is provisioned for and often surpasses 16000Mbps. What on earth is going on and what can I do to overcome it? I'm getting desperate here.

I have fixed my problem by upgrading the router firmware to version 1.03.7 from version 1.03.5.
The issue I had upgrading the router was it would fail at about 80% when using the router to do the upgrade soooooo, this is how I did it ( stolen from another thread )
Be warned!  If you do the below and you have custom setting on the router you need to write those setting down first!!!!!!
    1. Download tftp.exe using this link (ftp://ftp.linksys.com/pub/network/tftp.exe)
    2. Download the new firmware (version 1.03.7) at Linksys download site
    3. Reset your router by pushing and holding the reset button in the rear for 30sec
    4. Configure a static IP address (192.168.1.50 with Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0) on YOUR PC
    5. Connect a network cable from your PC to your router
    6. Test that your PC is talking to the router by openning a DOS window and type "ping 192.168.1.1" (without the paranthesis) and you should get 3 replies.
    7. Double click on the tftp.exe
    8. Type in the IP Address for the Server: 192.168.1.1
    9. Password is "password" (WITHOUT the paranthesis)
    10. For the BIN file, click on the square-button and browse to the BIN file that you've downloaded from the LinkSys Site (WRT350N_1.03.7_US_code.bin)
    11. Click on Upgrade
    12. After the upgrade is successful, perform the reset, again. IMPORTANT!!!! PUSH AND HOLD THE RESET BUTTON FOR 30sec then let go.
    13. POWER light should be blinking during boot up then stay SOLID
    14. Now, change YOUR PC IP seeting back to what they were before you started this process.
    15.  Start InternetExploder and surf the net
    16. GOODLUCK!!!
As soon as I did this, my laptop wireless started working 100% and right away.

  • Loss of Wireless Connectivity

    Hello Everyone,
I am having a major problem with my wireless network. At random intervals, I notice my wireless network speed (54mbps) slowly decrease from 54 -> 48 -> down to -> 4 -> 2 -> 1 -> dies. My wireless router then goes off for anywhere between 10s to 10 minutes, or sometimes it can even be down for 45 minutes.
I've encountered this ever since I moved my PC from across my room, though I believe it happened rarely before hand as well. Ive since tried using programs to determine the best connection (which Ive finally achieved). Also due to the building, I cannot run a wired line to my computer. My computer sits about 25-30 feet away from the router, almost a 45 degree angle above it (2nd floor, router access point is on the 1st).
Another note: Its not just my personal computer that loses wireless, the entire network dies at the same time. Though, the WIRED network that is connected to the router receives no interuption. I have exchange students that board at my house from time to time, along with the other main computer that resides in the room with the router, and neither receive connection hiccups or loss of network bandwidth. Also during this time my Wireless PCI card in my tower can still detect other networks (though very weak due to range)
As a thought, my router was about 2 years old, so I recently upgraded it from WRT54G to a WRT300N. The issue is just as frequent.
    As for specifics:
    Network:
    Old Router: WRT54G (2 1/2 years old)
    New Router: WRT300N
-- Router runs WEP encrypt, Ive recently turned off MAC filtering, tested both Channel 1 and Channel 10 (6 is overloaded with 2-3 other routers in the area).
Wiress PCI Card: WMP54GS (90% sure I have the Speedbooster Version)
-- My PCI card has a 7db antenna attached on a 1.5m chord.
Cable Modem (About 8 years old, unfortunately)
    Computer Setup
    Windows XP Pro 32bit
ZoneAlarm Firewall / AVG Virus Scanner
    Intel Quadcore @ 2.4ghz / 2gb Ram @1066 / Dual Harddrives
Side Note: I live about 100-200 metres away from a Canadian Forces Naval Base. I hadn't had any major connection issues prior to moving my computer 16 feet over to the other corner of my room, but unsure if military base could provide wireless interuptions as Im describing.
The only other thing I can think of at this time is range, as Ive gotten my connection down to a 30 based Signal to Noise ratio (Used Netstumbler to determine)
Also plan to upgrade my PCI card to N shortly, though depending.
Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
    -David Bright

I cannot confirm that other Wireless routers in my area share this same issue. I haven't tried to update firmware yet, as from the few I had talked to you generally don't want to touch something like that until a last resort.
I use a program called "Netstumbler" to detect other networks around me. As best as I can tell, when my router disappears off the grid, a lot of other routers do as well. I've used Channel 1 on G frequencies because the average number is as follows:
    Channels:
    1 - 1 person (me)
    6 - 4 people (unknown)
    11 - 1 person (close neighbour).
As to which neighbours are using wirless routers, Im unsure. About 30 meters away from my router, as mine unfortunately is placed agaisnt the house wall, is a complex that houses about 20-25 families. My computer also shares the same wall, but a floor above (like stated) for connectivity.
As for firmware, I believe I'll have a look into which Im running and hopefully update. I think it might not hurt even looking into an update for my PCI card as well.
Anymore help regarding this issue is appreciated. Thank you

  • Not picking up DHCP info from Windows wireless network

    Hey all,
I posted once before and received zero replies, so here's hoping the second time is the charm.
I have a building using HP ProCurve 420A wireless access points. There's a primary SSID that Powerbook users can see properly using Airport. The security is WPA-2 with a public shared key.
The Windows XP and 2000 users can see the network, authenticate and receive DHCP information to access the network.
The Mac users can see the network, "seem" to authenticate (the Aiport utility says it is connected) but never receive DHCP info (the Powerbooks always show 169.x.x.x values, as you'd see in factory defaults). If I play with this and plug a static address into the Powerbooks, they hop on the network through the HP access points. If I remove the static address and try to obtain network info via DHCP, I've had it work exactly once....despite scores of attempts (if it works once we're hopeful we've overlooked something obvious, right?).
The wireless access points are at the most current version firmware and the test Mac I've been using is at OS 10.4.7
Does anyone have experience with this issue, know of a solution or conversely, know if it's an issue that hasn't been succesfully solved?
I respectfully note in advance that folks suggesting "buy Apple wireless access points" won't be helping me much. There are budget constraints to go along with this issue that don't allow replacement of access points en masse.
    Thanks,
    Scott

"I was hopeful this might do it for me...but if I understand the OS X firewall properly, it's only configured in Sharing to allow access through a particular Mac to it's own shared resources for other computers to see and use. Firewall was turned off (in Sharing) on the test Mac I'm using.
Am I misunderstanding this feature? Is there another built-in firewall utility that's more analogous to the Windows XP firewall that actually limits the workstation's connections to all external resources, as opposed to only limiting shared resources to other computers from the machine being configured? If so, I haven't found it."
well id hardly say its analgous to windows firewall utility as thats more liek the dumbed down versio of the firewall you find in the sharing preferences. And yes thats all there is to it from a GUI interface (at least out of the box). Simply turning it on or off here whould disable or enable it and checking/unchecking the various allow options in sharing should add or remove the appropriate rules.
However there is MUCH more to OSX's firewall. Its jsut accessed from the command line via ipfw. This is a full featured software firewall typically found on most *nix distrobutions. if youre interested in it further you can open up terminal and type:
    man ipfw
    youll get an eyeful
