Lost 1,000 some photos.
Somehow I lost about 1,000 photos from two iPhoto 6.0.4 albums. I have a recent version of my iPhoto Library on an external drive. How can I get the missing photos from the backup Library and put them in in my current library?
Yes, I am still missing stored music files from my I-Tunes library and IPOD. My ITUNES library is only showing a couple of albums from the album menu now but not on my IPOD. Plus I am missing my top 25 most played songs folder on my I-POD but the folder is on the sidebar ITUNES menu too. Do I have to restore my IPOD and start over again?

Photostream keeps your photos for download to other devices for 30 days, once they are gone, you can find them on other devices that you have enabled photostream to work with. So if you have Computer, and use photostream - they are in photostream folder in pictures or iphoto. If you didn't use computer, they are gone.

Once the Device is asking to be Restored with iTunes... it is too late to save anything...
To minimise loss... Connect to iTunes on the computer you Usually Sync with and Restore from the most recent Backup...

I lost some photos when updating my OS, how can I find them. I have already tried to restore through my PC but the photos are still not there. Any thoughts?
If you haven't backup up your phone, then your photos are gone.
In addition you should import your photos to your PC, just like a ditigal camera, as a secondary backup in case you lose your pics you could always sync it back using Itunes. -
I just updates Apeture to version 3.3.2 after installing Mountain Lion. There are some photos in Apeture that now say, "Umsupported Image Format". Are these lost? Can I retrieve them...how? Can I change the format so that I can see them again? Help?!?
Are these images "Raw" images? What is the make of your camera?
Check the version of the Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update that is installed. The version of the raw support is shown in the About panel: from the main menu bar:

If you have the latest raw support installed, but Aperture does not recognize the format, try to register the raw support for your camera with the launch services db, see this post by Alan Roseman:

You can only import photos from the camera roll into the computer. Is that the album that you are seeing?
Any albums that you create on the device itself (the iPad that is) cannot be transferred to your computer. iPad created albums do not contain copies of your photos but merely pointers to those photos so they do not actually exist in those albums. -
I had a new phone and I clicked some pictures and then I restore my new phone with the old back up and I lost my new clicked photos...please help me how can I get back those photos?
You were already provided the answer. If you do not have a backup of the phone while the photos were on the phone, they are gone. When you restore your phone from an old backup, anything that has been saved to the phone since that backup is deleted. Sorry.

I tried to import some photos into iPhoto today and was given a messaged indicating I'm out of room?! I only have 11,800 pics in my library and have been told iPhoto can hold up to 250,000. Help!

Everything in your project will be exported when you use the share menu.
If you want to export only half, I suggest that you
1) Select the project in the Project Library.
2) Click FILE/DUPLICATE PROJECT
3) Give the duplicate a name, like Project A snippet.
4) Open the duplicate project in the Project editor and delete the segments that you do not need.
5) Then Share.
You mentioned surrounding a portion of the clip you were editing in Yellow. Once you do this, you should right-click and then select either DELETE SELECTION, TRIM TO SELECTION, or one of the other options available. That is a key tool in editing.
You mentioned MPEG Streamclip. I agree that MPEG Streamclip is a great tool. -

Thank you for your reply, sorry for the VERY late late response, but I have just figured out how to control this separate 'panel'. I find it really useful for monitoring Google Analytics in as it can just sit there running. It does have its limitations, as it's a limited size (you can't expand it to full screen view), so you can only ever see a vertical section of a website and need to scroll to look to the right or left, but I have the live view of people accessing my website running on there and if the numbers start racking up at any time, I can scroll to look and see what pages they are accessing, where they've been referred from, etc.
To get it to work, you save a website address in the Bookmarks Toolbar and when you can see it sitting on the toolbar at the top of the screen with its little icon, right click on it then click 'properties', then tick the box 'Load this bookmark in the sidebar'. The next time you click on this bookmark to open the website, it will load in this sidebar, which looks like a separate 'window' but is immovable. You can only have one sidebar application running at a time, but can change it by right clicking on the bookmark you want to load in there and it will then change to that one next time you click on that bookmark.
I hope this might be useful to others, as I asked for help with this on loads of forums and not one person knew that this existed - even really skilled techies! -
I just lost some photos stored on my iphone by saying "yes" to restoring my phone to the latest back up (this is a new phone having had the previous phone stolen). I (stupidly) didn't realise this would delete photos I had taken since the last back up. Does anyone know if I can recover these photos?
Unfortunately, if these photos had not been transferred off the phone in some way, before restoring from the previous backup, they are now gone.
Did you have iCloud's Photostream feature setup? If so, they may have been uploaded to that. -
Some photos lost transferring from ipod to pc

This problem is really bugging me and I really need help - whilst on holiday friends and myself used my ipod photo to transfer photos off our digital cameras to free up memory cards (main reason I bought ipod photo)
Now when I try to transfer all the photos from ipod to my pc, we have found that some photos have jumped to other folders, but the worst problem is that some photos havent copied over at all.
I can still view them on the ipod though.
Each transfer from camera to ipod was done exactly the same and each photo has been took on the same settings.
I copied the first lot by just dragging them off the ipod on to pc. Then i tried Copy
Also why is it when the ipod is connected to pc by the docking unit that I cant view anything on the ipod display screen? Other than seeing that it is charging.
Im not too great with this sort of stuff, so could really do with a basic explanation!!
I feel awful for letting my friends down esp. as they took some really great shots

Camera Roll lost some photos - please assist

While browsing through some photos I just had an issue with my Camera Roll on my IPhone 3GS running the 4.0 OS. The last month and a half worth of pictures have dissappeared from the Camera Roll including over 135 I just took on vacation over the weekend which is not backed up. However, When I select "Places", all of the photos taken are still showing up under their respective "Places" pushpin. How can I get these images back in my camera roll and what might have caused this issue? I did just a few minutes prior save 12 images into my camera roll from an email that I sent myself. I emailed myself the pictures and had created the pictures myself so I can't see them being infected with a virus or anything.
Please help me with any advice to restore these images back to the camera roll where they can be retrieved. Thank YouTry a restart:
Press and Hold the Home and Wake Sleep buttons until the Apple Logo appears.
If this does not make all the photos recoverable, then you can try restoring from an earlier backup or use a "backup recovery" tool. You'll need to search for the correct tool, as I have not used any of them out there.
The backups are listed in itunes under Edit, Preferences, Devices tab. -
Some photos load quick, others take a long time
I have about 4,000 photos in my library. When I click on some photos they goto the edit scren right away. Others take as long as 20 seconds to pull up. Any logical reason why?
Also, when I click to edit some photos, it takes me to the edit screen and shows a gray box in it's place. What happened to my photos that pull up like this?
Thanks.Regarding the length of time for displaying do you have different formatted files in the library and could the slower ones be large files like tiffs or similar?
The gray box indicates that iPhoto has lost the link to that photo and thinks it's missing. There's a way to recover those files one by one. If there's only a few this might not be such a hardship. Here's how:
1 - find the "missing" file via the Finder in the Originals folder and copy it to the desktop.
2 - delete that photo from within iPhoto.
3 - import the duplicate file from the desktop.
If you have a lot of these then there's no easy way to recover them all without creating a new library and importing the Originals folder from the old one. That, of course, will lose your albums, books, comments, keywords* and other organizational efforts.
* If you find you must go that route and want to try to recover your keywords you can try the workflow in Tutorial #1 before starting the new library.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
