Lost 250 Photo's?

Hello, Im using the trial version of Lightroom 3 on my I-mac to dicide if I'll use this program in the future. I did some importing, editing as well as using the publish and presentations utilities. Everything worked fine so yesterday I imported for the first time some photo's from my cardreader on it was a fotoshoot from a park, there were no problems what however during the import and I started to edit the imported photo's.
The next day I wanted to continue with my editing, when I openened the folder I saw all my photo's in the library module, however the moment I switched to the developing module Lightroom displayed a message telling me that the file was missing. I searched my whole HD for the files, nothing!! I still cant imagen what went wrong, also its strange that in the library module I still could see my photo's even there was no original file anymore.
I would be happy if anyone could tell me if it was user error or a software error so I can avoid this kind of disappointments in the future.

One question is easy to answer; the other one not so easy.
1) What you saw in the Library Module when you wanted to work on your photos the second time were the tumbnails and the previews. LR creates and saves these with the catalog and displays them, no matter if the file is missing or not. If you look close at the tumbnails in Grid Mode you will see a question mark besides each thumbnail. If you click on it, LR will tell you that the file is missing and will tell you were it was last.
2) You say you started editing the photos the first time right after the upload. I am assuming you mean editing in the Develop Module. So at that time the files were available for LR and when you came back to LR the second time, LR could not find the files.
Conclusion: Something must have happened between closing LR the first time and opening LR the second time. Question is what ?
Possibilities: Did you move the files after you worked on them in LR? Did you rename the files after you worked on them in LR? Did you rename the folder?
LR is different than other photo editing software insofar that LR does not "see" what is on the hard drive unless the photos are imported. Bridge for instance is different in that respect: Bridge "sees" what is on the hard drive. If you rename a image file in your OS, Bridge will "see" the file with the changed name.
LR is different: if you rename a file in your OS (outside of LR), LR will message you that the file is missing. Because LR has the file in its catalog under the old file name.That's why renaming and moving is best done in LR.
I just hope that you haven't formatted your memory card yet, so that your pix are still available on the memory card.

You can't view your back up files at icloud.com.
You can't view your camera roll and you can't view your Photo Stream files at icloud.com.
The icloud back up plan allows you to "restore" your iOS device from the files you backed up at icloud.com.

When I updated my Macbook Pro to Maverick, I lost I Photo. It seems as if my pics are still on the laptop, but I have a really hard time finding them. I no longer have I Photo. Can anyone help me in getting that application back and putting my pics back in it? I loved the faces feature. Thank you!

Run the >software update>iPhoto
If you have a legit copy of of iPhoto you are eligable for the Mavericks compatible version. Look for it in your applications folder along side the older versions.
If not purchase it on the AppStore to regain access to your iphoto library as you knew it.

If the photos were synced to the iPod;
- you need a third-party program like TouchCopy or Phone view to copy them to another computer.
- Email them to the computer
- See it there is an app available that will transfer them to your computer. However, there may not be any compatible with your model iPod and its iOS. There is the Photo Transfer app but that requires iOS 4.3 or above but your 2G iPod can only go as high as 4.2.1

So it appears you have only one library on the hard drive. Apply the two fixes below in order as needed to that library:
Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - run Option #4 to rebuild the database.

Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

It's version iPhoto '11. I sent the photos to the trash from in the resident iPhoto application, but not to the iPhoto trash, but the OS's trash in the bottom right task bar (Finder Trash).
Realizing what I had done, I dragged the picture folder back into the "Pictures" folder under my name in the Finder. I also dragged the iPhoto Library file back, but it said a new one had been created... I still attempted to replace the new with old iPhoto Library file.
The pictures are back and i can see the album names under events. The problem is that the album covers, nor the pictures themselves show up as thumbnails like they did before... they only show when you individually click on the photo to bring it into full view. I only see a grey background where the thumbnail was.
Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated!

Problems such as yours are sometimes caused by files that should belong to you but are locked or have wrong permissions. This procedure will check for such files. It makes no changes and therefore will not, in itself, solve your problem.
First, empty the Trash, if possible.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:

Photo stream only keeps photos in iCloud for 30 days, even though up to 1000 photos will remain on your device until you delete them (such as by restoring your phone). When you turned on photo stream again you only got back the photos added in the last 30 days as the others have already been removed.
If the missing photos were still in your camera roll when you last backed up, restoring the backup should recover them. (The backup includes camera roll photos but not photo stream photos.)

As you have had access to iOS 7 you must be a developer, so you should post questions about it in the private developer only forums.
If you are not a developer and got a pirated copy of iOS 7 then you're on your own. iOS 7 is still in beta and is not finished and not supposed to be used on non-developer phones. If you lost your photos through using pirated iOS 7 then that's your own fault.

Once the Device is asking to be Restored with iTunes... it is too late to save anything...
To minimise loss... Connect to iTunes on the computer you Usually Sync with and Restore from the most recent Backup...

If you haven't backup up your phone, then your photos are gone.
In addition you should import your photos to your PC, just like a ditigal camera, as a secondary backup in case you lose your pics you could always sync it back using Itunes.

2. Back up the iPhoto library(this can be done through Time Machine or by dragging it to a drive, partition, or disk image formatted as Mac OS Extended) and then click Upgrade.
3. Aside from Time Machine and drag-copying items from your home folder, programs such as the Disk Utility, Carbon Copy Cloner, and SuperDuper can make backups.
