Lost a sequence in Premier Pro.

Hi! I lost several hours of work after saving regularly in Premier Pro. I can't find the sequence I was working on. There was a "serious error" message, but I can't even find it in the auto-save folder. Sorry if this is a newb query, but the software works beautifully for me otherwise. Does it save the project and only some of the sequences? I can scroll through all the sequences, but the one I was woking on doesn't appear. Thx all

Ask in the Premiere forum and provide some useful and sensible information like system info, sequence settings, footage used, folder configuration and so on.

  • Importing After effects sequences to premier pro with camera and effects

    Hi there,
I'm gonna try n put this across as best as I can. I have made a short film of 6 minutes (in 6 parts on after effects) I have added all the effects and the camera work on AE, but it needs a lot of editing here and there, which I find impossible to do on AE since you can't cut and join scenes like Premier pro. I need to import all these sequences onto premier pro for editing now. The problem is once I import the files, it imports in the right order in systematic folders etc, but it doesn't show any of the camera work or the special effects like gaussian blur etc. All my hard work has gone.
There must be a way you can import the after effects file on premier the way it looks on AE. Can somebody please help me?
Another problem is I read some boards and it has been suggested to edit the clips first on premier and then add effects on AE but I read this really late and I've already composited the whole film on AE. I just need premier for cutting now.
Thanks for any help in advance.
    Cheers,
    Nikhita
P.S: I also thought about exporting the AE sequences as TGA files but there's ZERO space left in my internal hard disk for that, and it would take forever to export them all anyway. Any other kind of export would reduce the original quality which I dont want, and which I dont have space for anyway, so that option is out as well.

Every production house in the world that is working on more than one project uses external storage for their video files. As long as the drive name and path do not change you have no problems.
Lossless or nearly lossless means that. No visible reduction in quality. That's why every production house that knows what they are doing uses production codecs in their workflow. Production codecs range from uncompressed (which very few use) to Avid, Black Magic Design, ProRez and a host of other specialized codecs. Jpeg2000 and png QuickTime can store alpha channels as well as a bunch of other 3rd party codecs.
The way you start loosing quality is to use highly compressed formats like H.264 or MPEG or AVCHD in your production pipeline. It is usually OK to start with these codecs as original footage if the camera you used only offers these options, but any use of a delivery format in the production pipeline for anything but delivery is not a good idea.

  • Encore having trouble loading my sequence from Premier Pro CC.

I have made DVD's before with Premier Pro CC and Encore, but today it is stalling when I try to import my timeline from PPCC. It says," Import Premier Pro Sequence. Loading." It will stay on this for hours not moving. Is Something wrong with my Encore? Is something wrong with my sequence?

You can't import a sequence from Premiere CC to Encore CS6, you have to export the video out of Premiere as a Mpeg2dvd and import the two files, one audio and one video, into Encore. Encore CS6 is the last of the Encore releases and will not directly link to any of the CC programs.

  • Multicam sequence in Premier Pro CC not syncing

I created a multicam sequence in PPCC based on audio waveform. I had success with 5 of the 6 clips from 3 cameras. I opened in the timeline and there was absolutly no sync. All the camera angles started at 00;00;00;00 in the timeline which is impossible because they started recording at different times. It's like the sync data just left the building. Any ideas?

Exactly. I don't know. PPCC said it wasn't able to sync one of the 6 clips, so, successfully with 5 of the 6. One would think that upon opening the newly created multicam sequence that you would find 5 clips ready to go. That was not the case. There were 5 clips, they all just started at 00;00;00;00.  PPCC said it was successful with 5 of the 6 when in reality the clips were not at all synced. That's the issue.
I was just starting to use Pluralize when PPCC with multicam audio syncing became available. I'll go back to that. I appreciate the press to sync manually, but I have projects in the pipeline that involve more cameras than I'm using now. Whether through PPCC or pluralize, I'd like to have the ability to multicam audio sync.
If anyone comes up with a fix for the issue or has insight to what I'm doing wrong, your comments are much appreciated. I have had success in the past with multicam audio syncing in PPCC. I don't know what changed.

  • Problem importing premier pro sequence. please help

I have been attempting for awhile now to import a 45 min long rendered sequence from premier pro into encore but whenever i do so, the second the sequence is imported, the program stops responding.
    how can i fix this?

Can you please give your system specs?
In particular, how many physical HDD you have as well as memory. OS, CPU etc.
Also - what are the scratch disc settings in Premiere?
Finally - what is the video type - SD? HD?
Please give as many details as possible as it sounds like your system is going into overdrive.

  • Best quality HDV to DVD using Premier Pro CC to Media Encoder CC and Encore

I have been struggeling to create a decent looking DVD from my HD video.  I am a newbe.  And I have read many, many forum posts trying to learn the best practice and have come out even more confused.  Many posts are back in 2009 and I don't think they apply.  Some recommend dynamic link which does not appear to be an option for me.  So I am hoping to get a clear answer to my problems.  I am including alot of info because I don't know what is really important.
I have 2 types of video that I am merging into my sequences.
    Sony:
    Format                                   : AVC
    Bit rate                                 : 11.5 Mbps
Maximum bit rate                         : 16.0 Mbps
    Width                                    : 1 440 pixels
    Height                                   : 1 080 pixels
    Display aspect ratio                     : 16:9
    Frame rate                               : 29.970 fps
    Scan type                                : Interlaced
Scan order                               : Top Field First
    JVC:
    Format                                   : AVC
    Bit rate                                 : 16.3 Mbps
Maximum bit rate                         : 17.0 Mbps
    Width                                    : 1 920 pixels
    Height                                   : 1 080 pixels
    Display aspect ratio                     : 16:9
    Frame rate                               : 29.970 fps
    Scan type                                : Interlaced
Scan order                               : Top Field First
I set my sequence in Premier Pro CC to
    AVC-Intra 50 1080i
    29.97 fps
    1440 x 1080
    HD Anamorphic 1080 (1.3333)
    30fps Drop-Frame Timecode
Hopefully I set up my sequence correctly???
Dynamic Link is not available to me, so I export the sequence.  This is where i get confused.
I export to MPEG2-DVD.  Preset NTSC DV Wide
Some forum posts say to tweek the video setting for better quality, this is what I have read:
    quality to 100
    minimum bit rate  4
    target bitrate 6
    maximum bitrate 7
    click maximum render quality
Since my source has upper field order but PP defaults to lower field order, should I switch to upper?
    I encode in Media Encoder.
In Encore, I have my dvd settings:
    MPEG-2
    720x480
    29.97 fps
Lower fields first  (should this be upper??)
I have an i5 processor, 8G ram, I am using Mecury GPU accelerator.
I listed a lot of stuff and I appologize.  I just think the quallity I am getting isn't there.  With these setting and what I am doing, is this as good as the quality gets?
    Help

    Use a 1920 x 1080, 30i sequence for the editing, not 1440 x 1080.
Start with the MPEG2-DVD option and the NTSC DV Widescreen preset.  Change the Quality to 100.  Change the Field Order from Lower to Upper.  Change the Min, Target and Max bitrates to 5, 7 and 9 respectively.  If you have hardware acceleration turned on, export away.  If you're running in Software Only mode, check the Maximum Render Quality box and then export.
Bring the resulting video and audio files into Encore for authoring.

  • Question about Dynamic Linking from Premier Pro

I have a number of sequences created in Premier Pro CS5.5 that I have linked into a project in Encore CS 5.1 via the "Dynamic Link" feature. My question is - if I make any adjustments or changes to those sequences in Premier Pro, will those changes be automatically transferred to the corresponding timelines in Encore? If not, how do I make that happen?

Jeff's answer applies to each dynamic linked sequence you transcoded after in Encore. For any sequence not already transcoded, changes will be automatic.
The exception is markers. If you change markers, including markers that shifted on the Premiere timeline because you deleted or added clips, changed duration, etc, you must select the sequence's timeline and select Edit -> Update Markers From Source (replaces all markers).

    Hi,
Since a long time I did not encounter the crash of Media encoder with
    long file export.
But I take care of a lot of details before the export :
    - clean up Media cache and Media Cache Files within PP CS6 and/or CC,
    - delete all render files with Preview Files,
    - rendering of sequences until the rendering is completed,
    - PP CS6 and/or Pp CC opened during export to AME and/or Encore CS6,
I guessed to leave Adobe but this company remains the last with a
serious authoring software (Encore CS 6).
    I tested :
    - Avid Media Composer, Final Cut Pro X, both are very good software but
no really authoring software for these video editing softs.
Th only way is to "flood" Adobe with "bug reports" and "wish forms"
which are not very easy to use.
And also to call the Adobe support day by day until they send they
    escalate the bug.

  • I think I need to re install Encore off my discs. When I ask Premier Pro CS5 to send my project to Encore, Encore opens but does not receive my movie sequence. How do I re install Encore only without upsetting my movie?

Hello. I have the Premier Pro CS5 suite on Windows. Can you advise me how to re install Encore off my discs without affecting any of my movie in Premier Pro please?
I ask Pro to send the movie sequence through Dynamic Link into Encore so that I can burn the sequence to a disc.
Encore does open but the sequence does not arrive from Pro.
Last night the sequence did arrive into Encore but took forever to transcribe and I eventually cancelled the process as it appeared to get stuck and did not quite get to writing to disc.
This morning the sequence does not even arrive into Encore.
Very frustrating when I have a 4hr movie that I want to write to Bluray so I have now created 4 separate sequences and want to try writing them onto DVD in 1hr chapters.
Hope someone can help me with this. Cheers. Janice

Hello Ann. Thank you for your help. I have re installed EN and I have now
sent parts of my movie to AME. I have then tried several different methods
of getting the encoded clips into Encore successfully. Once in the Project
panel and the Timeline, the movie does not show up in the Monitor panel
above, so I have proceeded to build and write to a disc. I've tried a
number of options but always end up with EN 'not responding' and having to
    close the program down.
Something else is that I do get a message whilst in Premiere Pro that there
is an update available for AME, however, when I look online I do not see an
update for CS5, although there are 2 updates for CS6. Can you suggest what
I could do please? The Encore problem is the one that concerns me the most
as I am not able to record my movie.
    Looking forward to your reply.
    Kind regards.

  • Cannot import sequences from Adobe Premier Pro CC

The import of a PP CC project does not work. I cannot import sequences from Premiere Pro CC : the dynamic link start but nothing occurs.
I hope that I shall have not to rebuilt my project with Premiere Pro CS 6.
Thanks in advance for your assistance.

    Hi,
Many thanks for your very quick reply.
My english is not very good, but if I understood, I must :
    - import sequences within AME CS6,
    - encode or convert the sequences inside AME,
    - import the result inside AE,
    - transcode within AE then finish the disc or the job.
    Am I right ?

  • Footage will just not play in Premier Pro CS 5

I am importing footage into Adobe Premier Pro CS 5 version on a Mac 10.6, but it doesn't matter what file format I convert it into or what sequence settings I try I cannot get the footage to play! It's recorded on a Sony Handycam HDR-XR200E in AVCHD format as an MTS file. I have converted it into .mov, avi and mpeg4 formats but still nothing seems to work! It's not a trial version of CS 5 so the AVCHD should not be a problem. I have also tried all the sequence settings and nada! The footage jumps for 2 seconds and then just freezes.
Not sure how to proceed. If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated!

tamzynd, what are the specs of your mac? sounds like Premiere is choking on the footage.
Can you play other type of vision (e.g. a plain old AVI file from a DV camera)?
is your footage on the internal drive or on an external disk?

  • How can I open a project that has been created with Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration software, on my trial version of Premier Pro CC?

    Hi,
I'm working with a colleague who is using Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration software on his PC version of Premier Pro CC. I am using a mac and have a trial version of Premier Pro CC. When I try to open a project file that he has sent me I get an error message-
"Missing renderer: This project was last used with Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration (CUDA), which is either not available or not certified on this system. Mercury Playback Engine Software Only will be used."
When I click OK and locate the files I get a message saying "File format not supported".
Can anyone tell me what to do so that we can share project files?
    Many thanks,
    Jessie

Shouldn't really be the MPE at fault here ... what is the codec of the footage/sequence/project?
Second, can you create a new project in PrPro, then in the media browser, import that sequence from the other project?

  • DirectLink from Premier Pro CC 2014 to Encore - no longer there

Trying to get a Premier Pro CC 2014 sequence into Encore CS6 - and it won't happen.
The DirectLink from Premier Pro CC 2014 to Encore - is no longer there and I've tried simply dragging the required sequences over from the PP CC window into the timeline bin in Encore - it won't do it.
I've tried importing sequences and after clicking on the project to open and select the sequences from it just sits there with a portion of yellow progress bar about 5mm long - doesn't move on.
I am now trying to build the DVD project by putting all materials on one sequence, with chapter markers on it and pushing out a media encoder file in H.264 first. Maybe this will import to Encore.
Hating the fact these two sister programs no longer talk or work together - losing Encore is a major headache.

    Thanks Stan,
Interesting you say "Dynamic link only works between like versions. So the only DL for Premiere with Encore CS6 is Premiere CS6" and then show me a video where the guy's first screen pops up with "Using Premiere Pro CC & Encore CS6".
This is the latterday workaround to cover the issue of the removal of the directlink from PP CC 2014 to Encore - which does cover my issue - however I find it strange that Adobe choose to make great play of the DirectLink facility - now employed between programs such as PP CC 2014 and SpeedGrade - yet have deliberately destroyed a great working relationship in the same manner between PP CC 2014 and Encore.
I find this "dictatorial" deduction a real nause...

  • Premier Pro CC and Media Encoder crashing on long file export.

Please forgive the length of this inquiry. But it is complicated and has a lot of variables.
I have an hour long mixed format timeline both Red 3K footage and Black Magic ProRes 1080P footage that I want to make a DVD from and it takes forever and crashes half way through. I have tried doing it every way possible and the only way I was able to get even a partial export was using the "MPEG 2 DVD" export option in Premier CC. It goes fast at first telling me it will take about 2 hours but even though it starts quickly doing about 15 fps it slows down to less than 1 fps and finally just stops and crashes my Cuda Core enabled Macbook Pro Laptop.
I really don't know who to ask about this since there are so many different variables. I never had a problem like this on my MBP with PP6 on a 4K timeline exporting to DVD or Blue Ray or to H-264 or Even Prores. But I wasn't mixing formats either. But on this project the first 20-30 minutes of footage goes through fine in a couple of hours but something seems to be bogging down the system on longer projects. My work around was to break the project up into multiple exports and combining them on the DVD timeline but I can't do this on every project. I thought maybe it was a corrupted clip somewhere in the timeline but when I broke the timeline up into several parts I had no problems.
I did notice a dramatic variance in the time it took to export footage based on the sequence settings. A one minute timeline comprised Red 3K footage and ProRes 1080P footage Here are some sample export results:
From a Red raw 3K timeline 2880x1620  with 1080P Prores footage upscaled 150%)
    to .m2v Mpeg 2 720x480 format    1:48 Minutes ***
    to .mov  Prores 422HQ  1080P                         22 Minutes
    to .mov H.264  1080P                    22 Minutes
    to .m2v Mpeg 2 1080P                                                22 Minutes
From a 1080P timeline Prores footage at 100%  (Red footage downscaled to 67%)
    to .m2v Mpeg 2 720x480 format                         13 Minutes
    to .mov  Prores 422HQ 1080P                             13 Minutes
    to .mov H.264  1080P                                                             14 Minutes
    to .m2v Mpeg 2 1080P                                                            14 Minutes
Since I am going to DVD,  I chose the fastest option  Red to m2v Mpeg 2 720x480 format which only took 1:48 per minute. Why? I have no idea. Maybe someone here knows the answer. But again these numbers are for a ONE MINUTE clip when I tried to convert the whole hour timeline to  the 720x480.m2v DVD File the Red timeline froze my computer after several hours even though I had set sleep mode to “Never” and turned the display off manually and I had to convert it in multiple chunks. In 20-30 minute chunks it did go fast about 1:48 per minute like the test indicated. But I would like to be able to convert the whole hour and not to have to try to stitch the clips together in my DVD authoring program.
I don’t want to have to avoid using multiple formats on the same timeline or waste time transcoding everything to the same format.
Can anyone give me any suggestions as to why the computer is crashing or bogging down in long exports and what timeline settings I should be using?
I have plenty of room on my Scratch Disk and 8 Gig of RAM and according to my Activity Monitor during the export process  have about 800 Meg of System Memory during export but the CPU Usage is 98% and in my Activity Monitor I see under “Process Name” ImporterRedServer flashing up at the top of the list about every second during export.
Why .720x480 mpeg DVD setting is so much faster than all the other export codecs?
And if there are any other settings I can use to get higher speed exports in HD? 14x1 seems a little slow especially since every time it crashes I have to start over.

    Hi,
