Lost Ability to Choose PDF presets in all CS5 Suite

I am no longer able choose a pdf preset when saving a pdf from any application in the creative suite (Print, Screen, etc.) I can choose "Program Default" and custom. I don't recall if I've even tried to save at any of these sizes since installing CS5, so maybe they are just gone?
I also don't recall what updates may have happened to start this problem. I seem to remember doing a Mac system update that had an acrobat/reader update, but I'm not 100%.
Has anyone else encountered this? Fixes?

Are plug-ins enabled?

Undefined PDF Presets in Illustrator CS5

I'm encountering a problem when attempting to retrieve a list of PDF preset names in both AppleScript and JavaScript. Here are the steps I'm performing:
1) Launch Illustrator
2) Run the following AppleScript:
     tell application "Adobe Illustrator"
          PDF presets
     end tell
or JavaScript:
     app.PDFPresetsList;
When I run the AppleScript, I receive an error: "Adobe Illustrator got an error: an Illustrator error occurred: 1128353350 ('FNAC')" number 1200. (Sometimes, 'ACVI' is listed instead of 'FNAC'.)
When I run the JavaScript, I receive: "Result: undefined"
If I retrieve Illustrator's properties via AppleScript, I can see that the PDF presets property appears as 'missing value'.
The only workaround I've found is to manually go to Illustrator and choose "Edit > Adobe PDF Presets", and then immediately click "OK" to close the window. Whatever this does seems to fix the problem, and if I run the scripts again, they produce the correct results until Illustrator is relaunched, at which time the problem begins again. I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing this, and if anyone has come up with any other workarounds, preferably one that doesn't require manual work.

When I run the script (either from the ESTK or within AI) it gives me a combined list from two different sources. The first is the list of the suite installed joboptions which are located in OS/HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe PDF/Settings like this
The other joboptions shown are the user defined ones from <your account>/Library/Applicaton Support/Adobe/Adobe PDF/Settings like this

Lost ability to open pdf files in Safari and Flash Player upgrade is not recognized.

Since two days ago, when I responded to a Zynga game instruction on Face Book to upgrade to the newest version of Flash Player, I lost the ability to open the game but more importantly I can't open pdf files any more either. All pdf files in Safari open as jibberish BUT they still work correctly in Firefox and Preview. Please help.

Lost ability to download PDF documents with upgrade to 4.0

Before upgrading to 4.0 could go to a website and click on a document, then pick a specific page to download to Adobe Reader 8 and get a clean PDF document. After upgrading could go to the same site, download a document and the site would show that it was transmitted to me but I would only get a blank page. Have downloaded the (what I believe to be) correct add-on to 4.0 for PDF reception.

There is a Mac Version of Adobe Acrobat which does this. There was a hiatus when there was some incompatibility between the MacOS, QuickTime and Adobe Acrobat of the time, but as far as I know, everything works fine today.
You may have problems starting with a Pages document though. I think InDesign is the best starting point.

Lost ability to open PDF inside Explorer 11

I am running windows 7 Pro and Acrobat 10.1.12. I installed an alternate PDF software program called SodaPDF and then immediately uninstalled it since I quickly realized it would not work in my situation. But after removing it from my computer I could no longer open up any PDFs inside Explorer 11. I made a restore point but if failed to Restore for some reason. Now when I try to open a PDF inside explorer I get a new instance of explorer with an empty screen but for a tiny crossed out circle in the upper left corner. In toolbars and extensions in Manage Add-ons I see Adobe Reader is enabled and three other Adobe Create toolbars also enabled. Is there anything I might try before I deactivate and reinstall the software?

Try Help>Repair.

Lost ability to print PDF's

I'm running a Window Vista machine with an HP7960 printer. I've had no problem in the past printing PDF's, but when I tried to the other day, I could no longer print them. The print progress box comes up, it starts with 0% and immediately jumps to 100% but nothing prints. The printer que shows no file or activity. I can print any other kind of file with no problem. I've tried PDFs I've made as well as from other people / sites, to no avail. I tried the "print as image" also, with no success. If I create a new PDF, it will print once, but then no more. The only change to my system I see is that I updated to Adobe Reader X a day or so before I noticed the problem. Is that my issue, or is there something else?? Any help is appreciated.

Do you have Adobe Reader installed? You should still be able to see PDF files though as that is built into most internet browsers. Which browser / browser version are you using?

I used an AppleTV to display on a TV 30,000 digitized family photos stored on my iMac. When I opted to use iCloud, I lost ability to show my photos. All I could show are canned Apple photos. I am willing to pay for iCloud storage.

How do I display on AppleTV screen saver my library of 30000 digitized family photos? I am glad to pay for extra iCloud storage.

iCloud does not include a feature like the old MobileMe Gallery.
Photo Stream does work on the AppleTV, but will only show the last 1000 photos taken and synced to iCloud. You can't create user-defined galleries.
Until June 30th 2012 (when MobileMe closes down), you can still access your MobileMe Galleries, by logging in using your [email protected] MobileMe AppleID and password. That still works for now.
Unfortunately, I don't think there is a long-term solution for your particular usage.

Problem with m2v/mpeg2 playback in all CS5 Suite

My config : Mac Pro, installed with Windows 7 64bit - CS5 Production Premium

Here is my problem, I've got to re-encode m2v files.
I just imported the m2v file into Premiere, or AME directly. I set up my settings for the encoding process. The result is quite excellent but not everywhere. At some places, when the image is quite complicated, I've got compression artefact visible that are not present on the original file.
At the first time I tought the problem came from the reencoding bitrate, but in fact no. The problem is visible before the reencoding. If I play the orignal m2v in Premiere or AE, I can see those artefacts. But those one are not visible when I play the same original m2v in VLC or WMP.

So I imagine, the problem comes from the way Adobe Creative Suite (Bridge ?) read/interprete the m2v files...
Does anyone know if there is a way to improve or change this ?

Since this is not the original footage I wonder if the encoding went wrong.
It is odd that it plays better in VLC and Windows Media Player but not in Premiere.
I was able to notice the lines on the right hand side in VLC so something is wrong with the encoding I think. ( see picture 3 )
Here is what I noticed when bringing it into Premiere.
On Clip 2
It plays fine till 5:18
But on 5:19 the artifacts appear.
One thing I did notice that the whole video shows some thing wrong with the right side going down the whole side.
There are lines running up and down about 20 pixels wide or so.
Here is a screen cap at 400% ( Can be seen with VLC but not as bad )
Do you have the original copies of the video ?
At least you know its not just your computer.
Even you screen grabs in VLC show the lines to the right if you look hard you will see them.
My google search of the Sony Vizaro Encoder only brings back things from 2003. Maybe that encoder cant handle it anymore but I have no knowledge on that.
Wish I could help more.

InDesign PDF presets sync settings multiple computers

Hi,
I have 4 collegues, we all have the CC team version. Is it possible to sync for example PDF presets across all computers? So that we maybe can have a "master" and then everybody syncs after that one. We're all on Mac's . Thanks in advance.

Acrobat presets in Illustrator CS5 causing issues

When I created my PDF presets in Illustrator CS5.5., they were working fine until recently. I have files that I save as PDF's in Illustrator CS5.5.1 and either place the files in our templates in Illustrator, or a simple step and repaet of one vector art Ill. file 2 up. The issue is when I view the files in Acrobat X and the files are shifted or the second image of the step file won't show up. If I go back into the master files and do another save as for PDF it shows the CUSTOM setting at the top not my preset, so I select the preset (i made) again and it will work. Is this an Acrobat issue or an Illustrator issue? I reinstalled Illustrator, and deleted my old PDF settings and made new ones and that seemed to help for about 4 hours, and now I'm back to the same issues. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That's an issue with the shared PDF stuff in newer versions of Acrobat. There's realy no fix for this misbehavior, it's more or less a "hard" compatibility issue.

Lost ability to view the status of PDF conversion

Greetings,
I've been using CS5 for about a week after upgrading from CS4 on Windows 7. Everything was running fine until yesterday afternoon, when I suddenly lost the ability to view the status of the conversion of InDesign files to PDFs.
Normally, when converting an InDesign file to a PDF using one of InDesign's PDF presets (Smallest File Size, High Quality Print, etc.) you see a status bar showing the status of the conversion within InDesign. Now when I convert an InDesign file to PDF, the PDF instantly appears in the save location without any status bars showing up in InDesign. The PDF is unopenable and the InDesign file is uncloseable until the conversion completes. In the end, there is no issue converting my files to PDF; however, it's a little annoying to convert a file and have to take a guess at when I can open it (some of my files can take quite some time to convert).
At first, I thought it was a problem with my PC or installation. My supervisor has another license installed on his laptop, so we gave it a try on his. Same problem. I just think it's odd that the issue would appear out of nowhere on both installations.
Any ideas of what might be going on?

The Background Tasks pane does show what's going on (to a certain extent), but what I'm taking about should be showing by default. I jumped on our old Macbook and created a test file and converted it to PDF in our Mac version of CS4. See the status bar that shows in the image below. This is what I'm taking about. It's a window titled "Generating PDF." It's been in every version of InDesign I've had since the first CS.
Shouldn't this be displaying?

Lost ability to print as PDF following reader upgrade

Just upgraded reader and now have lost 'Print as PDF' as a printer option on my selectable drop down printer list.
Am running a copy of Acrobat X Pro and all was well before reader upgrade completed this am.
Can anyone advise how I recover ability to print as PDF in my print options?

But did you repair Acrobat? The Adobe PDF printer is a function of Acrobat, not Adobe Reader. Uninstalling/reinstalling Acrobat does essentially the same thing as a repair, but takes a bit longer.

PDF Presets lost in CS4 after uninstalling Photoshop CS5 trial

Upon removal of the Photoshop CS5 trial, I lost all of my Save as Adobe PDF Presets (.joboptions) in the CS4 versions of Illustrator, Photoshop & InDesign. I miss them... so much....

Add me to the list of those affected as well.... *sigh*

So I contacted a friend and he sent me a copy of his default presets. These need to be installed in the Macintosh HD > Library > Applications Support > Adobe > Adobe PDF > Settings folder.

Thanks for replying. I am converting from MS Office Word document to Adobe Acrobat Document and opening with Reader XI - sorry my mistake.
I now notice another problem. On trying to open a specific hyperlink in the pdf version I get the message 'Acrobat does not allow connection to: www.biblegateway.com'. Why would there be a restriction?
