Lost ability to copy and paste attachments in Mail

Hi there,
Just migrated from an older Macbook to new Macbook Pro using Migration Assistant and now in Mail I can't copy and paste an attachment from the received message to a new message.
I could do it before and it works on a new iMac aslo, just not on this particular computer.
Any ideas much appreciated!

It's something to do with Windows' internal clipboard -- it gets stuck by an application that never clears it (not necessarily InDesign -- I've had the same with Word, IExplorer, and a few other programs).

I have heard that cipy and paste feature promised to be in 2.1 version. today it is 2.2. Still no copy and paste ?
I know that there is Magicpad - but it ***** since it has only copy and paste witing the app only and that feature should be in any OS.

I was hoping it would be in the 2.2 update. Big bummer that it wasn't. It's gotta hurt them that Blackberry just released the Storm which does have copy/paste and full texting options.
Admittedly, I'd rather they take their time and get it right rather than rush out a bad or buggy feature.
Supposedly the update includes "improved performance in text messaging" but I haven't noticed anything different.

Keynote 6.5 Loses Ability to Copy and Paste Master Objects (Titles, Body) From One Master Slide to Another

This is just a major pain point that I hope is fixed as soon as possible.
In all Keynote 6 versions of the past (and 5), you were able to do the following:
1) Copy a Title or Body object (with proper formatting) from one Master Slide to another.
1a) The slide you would paste it into would have had to have been deleted/unchecked.
2) The pasted Title and Body objects would then assume the role of the Master's Title and Body Boxes
Now:
Instead of assuming the role of the Master Slides Title and Body Boxes, they are simply text box objects. If you were to check "Title" or "Body", the old objects (with probably improper formatting) would still be that slide.

How do I copy and paste in e-mail

trying to copy from a recieved e-mail into a new one. How do I copy and paste?

Can't copy and paste address in Mail

Copy and paste works everywhere else but in the address field in Mail. I've got ver. 5.3. When I Control-Click on the curser in the address field, I don't get the drop down menu with Paste on it.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Enter the name of the crashed application or process in the Filter text field. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
Step 2
In the Console window, look under User Diagnostic Reports for crash reports related to the crashed process. The report name starts with the name of the process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report and post the entire contents — again, the text, not a screenshot. In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

I guess that these were considered such fundamental operations, each with an already existing variety of operations (mouse, keyboard, right-click, ctrl+c etc) that the Thunderbird devs didn't choose to replicate them again. Similarly, keyboard selection is relied upon a great deal in Thunderbird, rather than adding all the ugly (IMHO) checkboxes that now counterintuitively litter all Windows Explorer displays.
So, if the devs expected you to use ctrl+right+shift to select the current text word by word, then ctrl+c to copy it, ctrl+x to cut it and ctrl+v to paste it would be quite natural, since your hands are already at the keyboard. Similarly, if you prefer to select by mouse, a right-click also offers options to copy, cut and paste, and there is also the possibility to drag selected text, serving cut and paste in one action. So it could be argued that there is no need for buttons.
There used to be additional button add-ons for Thunderbird, but those that I know about don't appear to be under active maintenance and don't currently work with TB 31.0.
You could build your own using a Custom Buttons add-on, but it isn't easy to find the appropriate function call to attach to your home-made buttons. :-(

Copy and Paste Unformatted Text to documents

A very useful feature at times is the ability to copy and paste formatted text from pages (in this case webpage) to a document (text edit, word). Which means that what ever bold, font or style on a page is copied to the clipboard and then pasted identically to the document.

Hi, SU.
Many applications support this, but how it is implemented varies by application.
In many apps, if you paste using the Command-Option-V keyboard shortcut (instead of Command-V for paste), it will paste the clipboard contents either:
• Without the styles used in the document from which the text was copied.
• In the same style as the document into which you are pasting the text.
Some apps, e.g. Microsoft Office, have an Edit > Paste Special menu choice that permits one to select that text should be pasted either without the styles or matching the style of your document.
In Mail, the keyboard shortcut is Command-Option-Shift-V.
Consult the Help for the particular application to determine how one can paste what is commonly called "styled text" without the styles. Styled text is text in the clipboard that retains the style of the document from which it was copied.

Hi Denny, it sounds like LaunchServices. You can download OnyX and use it to reset LaunchServices, or do it manually, by quitting any open apps then
navigate to /library/caches/com.apple.LaunchServices-xxxxx.csstore. You may have more than one with different negative numbers. Delete all of these.
Then navigate to ~(yourhome)/library/preferences/com.apple.launchservices.plist and delete this also.
Then log out and back in. Or restart. Let us know.

How to copy and paste Text in iMovie?

Applying text to clips in iMovie is a breeze, also customizing fonts & colour. However, when you finally have your text finalized, the logical thing is to reuse that design throughout the movie. As a previous Pinnacle Studio user, I intuitively would assume that you could select your text label and Copy / Paste it to a new position. Am I right in my observation iMovie seems not to have this functionality?

iMovie 08 has the ability to Copy and Paste text.
However, you cannot copy and paste the entire Title overlay. You are constrained to the pre-set Titles. Once you have selected a Title style, (let's say Lower Third), you can change the font and color. Then highlight the text and copy. You can put another lower third title elsewhere in the project and Paste the original text with font and color changes that you copied earlier.

Yes, This is not working. It should of course be working. The ability to copy and paste is very important. We should be able to choose whether we want to paste with time-stamps, or past without time-stamps.
Just to give an example of a use - I am learning a foreign language via Skype. After the class, I would like to make a record of the significant points. During the lesson, I have noted them down on the messenging past of Skype. After the lesson I would like to copy and paste. But I cannot, because what is pasted is an enormous document which is mostly filled with junk, viz, my name, my company's name, and very many time-stamps. Producing a 'clean' version of the conversation would require a considerable labour of manual cleaning which, experience suggests, is impractical.
The evidence of an enormous popular demand for the copy and paste function is clear. Of course, I have no idea what technical obstacles have led to this function disappearing. But all we can do, as loyal Skype users, is to urge their engineers to take another look at this function, and see if it cannot be re-implemented.

Can no longer copy and past jpg and gifs into InDesign from c:\user\doc\pics

Here is the error message we get when doing a copy and past from the hard drive to InDesign.

Adobe InDesign may not support the file format, a plug-in that supports the file format may be missing...
First, do I need to add a plug-in to be able to copy and past jpgs and gifs?
Second, we have always used clip organizer with no problem. Ability to copy and paste jpg & gif suddenly stopped. We get a box but no image ont the page. Have already tried dumping temp internet files through internet explorer. Have already un & re installed InDesign and repaired and fixed everything I could think of.
Third, we can use the place command to place jpgs but can not place gifs.

It sounds as if Mrs White needs to search visually for graphics and then place them. She can either set Windows Explorer
to thumbnail view and drag a graphic on to an InDesign page - this will in effect be placing the graphic, not copying
and pasting, and is the right way to go. Or she can use File > Place, and set the view in the Explorer window that she
selects from in the Place command to a thumbnail view to see the graphics.
GIFs can be placed. They are not a recommended format, but if you are placing clip art then you may have no option.
So, in answer to your original question, no, you don't need a plug-in to place JPEGs and GIFs. But note that is place,
not copy and paste.

Has anyone else using a MacBook Pro wit Safari hot mail had a recent issue (s) like when trying to att. a file in an e mail and getting an error message stating"can't send 0 bytes? Or that you can't copy and paste with out getting a "hotmail can't...

Have a MacBook Pro. Been using hot mail/Safari. Suddenly can't copy and paste an e mail. Can't make an att> without getting an error message.."0 bytes empty" Got ahold of hot mail was told yes there is a problem between Mac and hot mail Safari and for $59.00 they can fix it. Forgot to ask if the same would apply if I were a pc user. Anbody shed some light on this? Anyone recomend a better em ail service other than g mail?

Copy and paste not working in Mail app on my iPod Touch 32GB

I have an iPod Touch and cannot copy or paste anything in the Mail application. I have no problem copying or pasting in other applications. Unfortunately, being able to copy and paste into/from Mail is probably one of the most important things that I need to do on my Touch.
I don't know if this means anything, but I do notice that the tiny progress indicator, just to the right of the WiFi indicator on the top left of the screen, never stops spinning when I'm in Mail.
I have a 32GB 3rd-generation Touch which is not jail broken, if that even makes sense for a non-iPhone (I've seen this problem mentioned regarding jail broken iPhones).
By the way, I can SELECT text (or position the cursor) with the magnifying glass, no probem. It just never pops up the copy/paste bubble thingy.
Thank you for any advice. This is a real bummer in what otherwise has been a downright ethereal experience with my new Touch.
(I don't know what ethereal means either, but you get my drift.)

Genius I'm certainly not but I'm glad it worked.
FYI, a Reset is a common troubleshooting step for may iPod/iPhone software issues. I generally Reset my iPhone once/week or so, whether I think it needs it or not.
