I didn't realize that I selected the desktop to restore my phone until too late.
Now I lost the lock icon to lock the phone.
Any suggestions?

Modular747 is a troll with very little real knowledge of the iPhone charging systems (as evidenced by his uninformed comments in other threads).
It could very well be iOS 7 refusing to charge from "non-authorized" accessories. We have done A/B tests with the same accessory (in this case cables) with iOS6 and iOS7 and have seen the cable work with iOS6, then not work (i.e. not charge) with iOS 7. Same device, same cable. Only change was the OS.
Keep the pressure on Apple, folks. It is not OK to make working accessories unusable with a software update.

Lost ability to access map after upgrade to Lightroom 4.2

403. That’s an error.
After upgrading to Lightroom 4.2, have lost ability to access maps. Suspect it may have something to do with client access. On one occasion got message.
Your client does not have permission to get URL/maps/api/js?sensor=false&v=3.6&callback=initial%20ize&region=ENfrom this server. That’s all we know.
However, have been unable to replicate this.
Using Mac OSX 8.2
Any clues?

Where can I find the settings to lock my phone after a series of incorrect password attempts?

That is related to google if I remember correctly,and to unlock you need to either wait for 30 seconds ->1 minute or recover with your gmail account. However, I haven't noticed this on my Z1,it didn't offer me the option to recover with gmail.

I recently installed the BB desktopsoftware on my MacBook Air and today tried to sync my BB.
My BB is password protected (4 digits) and the Air is also password protected.
Problem is; the desktop software started after connecting with the BB, a password prompt came up and I typed the device password --> wrong password message!!
What did I do wrong?
Should I typ the MacBook password?
Please help !!
I stand to lose a lot of information, as this is my first back-up/sync.

Phone Locking up after pairing with Acura Handsfree

I just purchased a new 3g and my phone locks up everytime I get in my vehicle. I paired it with the handsfree in my Acura and it starts to work and then the phone locks up. Any tips? Its very annoying to step into or out of your vehicle and have to reset your phone.

I have the same problem when I take the risk of dialing from the iPhone on my 06RL. The iPhone correctly shows the handsfree link as an option but it does nothing, so I have to pull over to make a call.
Also, the only way to dial is by remembering and spelling the phone number to the hnads free system and I have never been able to sync the contacts. Entering them one by one is out of the question.
Unfortunately Acura does not seem to have the tradition or policy (unlike other high-end car makers) of releasing updates to their navi system. Not even to fix bug. It seems to be AS-IS. Believe me I have asked several times.
To make it worse, Apple has the policy of not responding so we are left to figure it out.

Lost ability to move items between spaces with gestures after 10.7 download. Setting issue or glitch?

I downloaded OSX 10.7.2 like the rest of the world and besides icloud conversion issues I noticed that I could not move items (files, jpg's, etc.,) from one "Space" (desktop) to another. I've gone through all the "gesture" settings in the System prefs and there's nothing to do with it. Using the key fuctions (Control + 1, 2, 3) still allows for moving objects while you have it selected, however if you select any object with the trackpad no gestures work. Anyone else seen this issue? Is there a setting that I've missed?

I have absolutely the same problem since the last update. However I really think it is a glitch, because after stubbornly trying dragging a file while using the multi gestures I discovered the following:
• It works only if you grab the file in the moment you use the multi gesture. It’s like a cat and mice game :D, I wouldn’t say it is a workaround, but just a proof that probably they will fix it.

IPhone5 Notes removed from phone after syncing with iTunes

This morning my wife came to me with her iPhone5 complaining that her notes in the Note app have disappeared. After investigating on her laptop we found them in her Yahoo folders but they weren't on her phone. Strange. I had all my notes on my iPhone5. So we went to work and I researched the issue. Found out that there are a lot of people out there with this same issue. This evening I backed up my iPhone5 wirelessly to my computer. I restored my wife's phone to her last back up that she said had her notes. No good - not there. So I reset her phone back to factory setting and restored from her backup. In the mean time, I plugged my phone in to my computer to check on some setting. Lo and behold, my notes have disappeared too! Of course they are all in Yahoo, but what's strange is that not all of my Yahoo notes disappeared. So it has something to do with syncing with iTunes with the wire, not wirelessly. I just restored my phone to today's backup and I suspect that since I'm tethered to my computer, the restore put them back and iTunes removed them. Since I cannot see the Notes folder in the email app - what good is it to sync them to Yahoo? Ridiculous. So the key is to NOT tether your phone to iTunes and sync wirelessly. Now I am going to have to go through the process of emailing all my notes back to myself and copy them into Notes.
Any one have a better cost-effective solution?

Follow up to my earlier post. It appears that the notes that "disappeared" from my iPhone fit in a certain date range. Seems to be June and July. A note I created in August didn't disappear. So I just emailed the notes from June and July to myself. I created new notes on my iPhone in the Notes app for my Yahoo account. Automagically they appeared in my Yahoo folder and didn't disappear from my iPhone when I synced again. Solution?

When I synced to itunes, I had registered as old phone not realizing that was mistake, after that all photos were taken in new one were gone.

Lost ability to edit photos after latest update

Hi, I have just applied the latest update to my installation of Aperture. Upon opening it also upgraded my library to the newer version. Was this was completed I am able to browse and view all the photos in my library however if I try to do anything with any of them I am unable to. For example I am unable to duplicate a photo graph as the option in the menu to do this is greyed out. Like wise if I try to adjust the photo again all the adjustment panel options are greyed out. This is very frustrating and any help would be much appreciated.

You may be in "Preview" mode. Then all edits are disabled. Type "P"; that toggles quick preview mode on and off.
Or press the "Quick Preview" icon, the "hurried rectangle" as Kirby Krieger once called it
Or do you see broken arrows, indicating missing original master files, on your image thumbnails? In that case you need to use the "File > Locate Referenced Files" menu command to reconnect the image versions to their original (master image) files.

I assume you are working with Aperture 3.3.1. In that case the MacOS X in your signature canot be correct.

I lost ical on my phone after my iOS 8 upgrade

I have an iPhone 4s and I did the upgrade to IOS 8, but when I launch iCal, all I get is a blank screen. But the events are still in the phone because when I use the pulldown notifications menu, today's events appear, and the number of events for tomorrow appear.
How can I get iCal to work again on my phone?

My brand new Macbook PRO crashed completely after it went through the iOS 10.7.4 update, I lost everything and Apple just wants to replace the HD and let me deal with the hassle.

Last Thursday May 10th I received a prompt from the Automatic Update to update the iOS to Ver. 10.7.4, set the start and was watching the progress when it stopped with an error message saying that it was not able to update, right below there was a buttom "RESTART", pressed the buttom and waited to re-boot.....That was the end of my computer, somehow the update crashed my HD beyond recover, it would only show the gray screen with Apple logo in the center and kept beeping, BEEP BEEP BEEP.....PAUSE.....BEEP BEEP BEEP.....PAUSE.....on and on and on and it never past that.
Friday May 11 I took it to a retailer where I received the bad news that the HD was crashed and the teck couldn't even try to copy anything from it as it couldn't locate it. I checked iCloud on a hope that all my stuff would be there but new surprise, iCloud didn't kept all of my stuff as it was programmed to.
Now here is the funny part, the tech from the retailer informed me that the only thing they could do was to order a new HD for my 4 months old Macbook and that the time to have my computer back will be at least 15 days, now that is the funny part, I fail to understand why do I have to suffer the hassle of loosing all my data plus wait at least 15th days to have my computer back (meanwhile loose work) on a problem caused by Apple, PROBLEM, not machine defect, clearly my computer had no problem untill I followed the procedure to update.
On Saturday May 12 I contacted Local Apple Support (I have failed to mention that I live in Brasil) and they informed me that what the dealer said was the only thing that could be done, too bad for me if I lost everything, going to loose several days of work and whenever I receive my computer back will have to re-construct all my life and deal with the forever lost data.....DEAL WITH IT
After a couple of discussion with Apple Support and the Dealer, I made my decision to take the Macbook to the dealer today for repair and meanwhile I'm opening a case with the Brazilian Justice to have Apple honor with all the trouble and hassle that it is causing me, it's said that I have to take this type of action as I'm a very fan of Apple and it's products, have had several iPods, iPhones, Macbooks, Keyboards, Mouses, Apple TV, etc.....This i the first time I have a problem with a Apple product and got a taste of the "Apple Care", it seems like Apple is more concerned on seeling products then keeping long time customers happy.
One last thing, today when I was at the dealer to drop my computer for repair, the Technician informed me that he also had a computer crashed and the HD erase on Sunday May 13th in the same way of mine, after the update everything was gone, also he said that we were not the only ones, iPads and iPhones were going trough the same situation, update causing complete breakdown.
WORD OF ADVISE, BE 1000% SURE THAT YOU HAVE EVRYTHING BACKED UP BEFORE YOU GO THROUGH AN UPDATE.

That's exactly what Time Machine does for you. It backs up every hour, so you don't have to. While it is backing up, you keep on working. Time Macvhine came with your Mac and you chose not to use it.
The 10.7.4 update did not cause your hard disk to fail. Hard disk fail due to mechanical causes. They are extremely reliable, but that doesn't mean every hard disk will last a long time. Your mileage WILL vary!
If you are dependent on your computer and the data stored on it, then you should make sure you have AT LEAST two copies of all data and probably three or four. You should use at least two means of backing up in case the backup software has a problem. And you should consider having a backup computer if you live in an area where replacement takes too long (whatever too long is for your business).
Apple hardware and software is very, very good. You have documented your experience of this. But NO hardware or software is perfect. You also have experience of this.
It is YOUR responsibility to ensure that your system is set up to protect your data and availability of computing resources.
