Lost ability to open PDF inside Explorer 11

I am running windows 7 Pro and Acrobat 10.1.12. I installed an alternate PDF software program called SodaPDF and then immediately uninstalled it since I quickly realized it would not work in my situation. But after removing it from my computer I could no longer open up any PDFs inside Explorer 11. I made a restore point but if failed to Restore for some reason. Now when I try to open a PDF inside explorer I get a new instance of explorer with an empty screen but for a tiny crossed out circle in the upper left corner. In toolbars and extensions in Manage Add-ons I see Adobe Reader is enabled and three other Adobe Create toolbars also enabled. Is there anything I might try before I deactivate and reinstall the software?

Since two days ago, when I responded to a Zynga game instruction on Face Book  to upgrade to the newest version of Flash Player, I lost the ability to open the game but more importantly I can't open pdf files any more either. All pdf files  in Safari open as jibberish BUT they still work correctly in Firefox and Preview. Please help.

  • TS1722 Have lost ability to open Boot Camp on start up or restart. Only Mac icon shows up. Worked perfectly for two years and now it implodes. Any hope of re-opening Boot Camp?of recapturing data in

Have lost ability to open Boot Camp on start or restart. Icon does not show up. Had been working for 2 years, then nothing. Recently had problems with Kodak Easy Share in PC partition. Any connection? Any hope of reopening Boogt Camp without losing data already there?

Can you see there is a partition?
Can you boot Windows 7 DVD?
Did you think you would never need a backup image?
So no Safe Boot, no F8, possible?
    Paragon CampTune
Paragon CampTune is a commercial product that is designed expressly for this task. http://www.paragon-software.com/home/camptune/ It consists of a downloadable ISO that needs to be burned to a disc and booted from in order to resize the partitions. During testing it was available free, but now costs US$19.95. MR user Rodus reports that it damaged their OS X partiton and a reinstall was required, so heed the warning and have a backup.
    Paragon Partition Manager
From the makes of CampTune is a commercial tool that is similar in functionality to GParted Live, but has a more polished/friendly user interface than GParted Live. Previously only the US$79.95 Professional version supported all the features required for this, but as of version 11 the US$39.95 Personal version has also been reported to work. http://www.paragon-software.com/home/pm-personal/
    Securing Dual-System Configuration
Imaging is still the most affordable and robust way to secure computer data. Unfortunately Mac OS X backs up only HFS+ volumes, leaving Windows with dual-system configurations unsecured. You can permanently lose all of your data unless you have a Windows-compatible backup solution.
Paragon’s CampTune and Paragon’s Drive Copy for Mac can secure the entire dual-system configuration. CampTune creates traditional images of volumes or entire hard disks, Drive Copy can copy them to other disks. In case of an emergency, you can restore the previously created image or copy all your data back to its original state.
    Winclone/Disk Utility
Winclone is a free tool for creating and restoring backup images of your Windows partition. One of its key features is that it can restore to a larger partition than the one the image was created from.
NOTE: Winclone has been discontinued, but for now remains available and capable of completing these tasks (including creating and restoring Windows 7 images).
Winclone updated to support Lion Winclone updates and download
Disk Utility can resize HFS+ (Mac OS) partitions, but is currently incapable of resizing NTFS partitions, so you could use it to reduce the size of the HFS+ partition and create a new larger placeholder MS-DOS (FAT) partition
    The full process would be:
    Backup Windows partition with Winclone.
(if the new Windows partition is smaller than the old one make sure you set the preferences in Winclone to save the image as an uncompressed dmg)
    Delete old Windows partition
    Resize current Mac Partition
Create new Windows partition as MS-DOS (FAT) in free space after Mac OS partition.
(If the new Windows partition is smaller than the old one an additional step is required: shrink the filesystem on the image by selecting Tools->Shrink Windows (NTFS) Filesystem)
Reboot your computer for the new Windows partition to mount properly (winclone may not restore if you don't reboot)
Restore Winclone partition over new Windows partition
An alternate Winclone based process is described in the External Guides section

  • I've just upgraded to V5.0 and now I have lost ability to 'open in new tab'

I've just upgraded to V5.0 and now I have lost ability to 'open in new tab' whats happening?

Thanks but I've reinstalled V4 until V5 is stable and more or less working the way I want to work - not the way some programmer thinks I should want to work.
You know change is OK but only if it makes things better for the user Change shouldn't be made to make the developer feel good about his/her expertise. For me V4 was Good. V5 gives me too many issues to deal with - I just need a relatively simple browser (and I guess I'm not the only 1 out there that feels like this).

  • How do I make IE open PDF inside browser and not prompt?

I am using IE 11, Adobe Reader 11.0.06.
When I try to open a PDF inside a browser window (for example this one: http://helpx.adobe.com/dk/pdf/acrobat_reference.pdf) I am prompted to Open, Save or Save As. I want open the document directly without being prompted.
    How can I achieve that?

I have now tried the following: Adobe Reader was completely uninstalled. I then downloaded and installed the Adobe Reader 11.0.00 package directly from the Adobe site and upgraded it to 11.0.06 afterwards.
In this default configuration it works - PDF files on web pages open directly in Internet Explorer (Windows 7, IE 10).
I then removed Reader and ran our deployed version (from SCCM). Then it failed to show PDF's in the browser, as before.
So a setting in our TRANSFORMS file could be an issue. Does anyone know if you can set this open/do-not-open in browser inside the MST file using Adobe Reader Configuration Utility? Our installation CMD file looks like this:
REM *** Install Reader 11 MUI base package
    msiexec /i [\\servername]\source$\Applications\AdobeReader11\AdbeRdr11000_mui_Std\acroread.msi TRANSFORMS=\\[servername]\source$\Applications\AdobeReader11\AcroRead.mst LANG_LIST=[language] /passive
REM *** Install 11.0.06 MUI update
    msiexec /update \\[servername]\source$\Applications\AdobeReader11\AdbeRdrUpd11006_MUI.msp /passive

  • Ability to open PDF in I.E. suddenly stopped

With Internet Explorer running (and NO adobe products currently running) a click on a PDF icon gives the message "The adobe acrobat/reader that is running can not be used to view PDF files in a web browser. Adobe Acrobat/Reader version 8 or 9 is required.please try again" When I click the OK button in the error notice box a blank I.E. page shows up with "cannot display the webpage" at which point a blank screen of Acrobat 6 launches and the event is over. This started after updates were downloaded to the reader, previously there was never a problem opening PDFs. I can't do my work if I can't access these files on the Internet.
    System - XP Pro, SP3

Reader 9.1.1 & Acrobat 6 currently installed and always have been. Both these will launch PDFs from the local drive without issue.
    HELP !

I had the same issue. I found an answer on a link on this matter today. The suggestion was to uninstall Reader 9.1, or any other recent version, and install a prior version, 8.12, which apparently is the same as 8.1.2, you may see it referred to both ways. Just type in your web browser "download adobe reader 8.12" and you'll get a page of links. I chose one that referred to a free 8.12 download, or it may have said 8.1.2. It worked!
Uninstall any current versions of Reader then install the 8.1.2. I didn't bother to reboot the computer before or after I installed it. I was receiving different error messages in Internet Explorer and Firefox before the new install. Now Reader works with both, as it did before. Hope this helps.

  • Can't Open PDFs Inside Firefox

I have installed the latest Adobe Reader 9 and want to open PDF documents inside of the Firefox browser on Vista. No matter what I do, I  always get a popup window asking me if I want to download or open in Adobe Reader when I click on a pdf file. I have Firefox's tools - options -  applications set to "use Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox)". I have  re-installed Adobe Reader and Firefox with the most recent versions. I  have manually copied the plugin dll from its Adobe directory to the  Firefox directory, over-writing the existing one in Firefox. I have  deleted pluginreg.dat and let Firefox recreate it. None of this does anything for me. My  IE, however, will open PDF files inline with Adobe Reader. Any ideas?

I have the same problem, after installing Adobe Reader Ver 9.4.0.  Using FF Ver 3.6.12 and XP home edition.  Prior to this last Adobe installation, I could always download PDF documents from the Internet.  But now, when I try to download, I first get an all white page for a second or two and then the page goes all black and nothing happens after that.  Have tried it many times, and always get the same result.
I can still open PDFs from those stored on my Hard Drive OK, but I can no longer open or download any PDF from the Internet.
Has to be a defect in the latest Adobe version.  Is there any fix for this?
    Thanks,
    ASC

  • Browser Crashing when opening PDF inside Browser

I have a Windows XP Pro SP 3 with IE 7 , Acrobat Pro 9.
My issue is that whenever I open a PDF inside the browser I get a error message stating that the browser crashed / stopped responding and needs to close.  The work around that we have been using was simply inside Adobe going to  edit> preferences> internet> unchecking view PDF in browser.
We are launching a new application that requires a PDF to be displayed inside a browser.  Any help would be greatly appreaciated.
This issue also happens with Firefox, and I have removed and reinstalled adobe several times.
    Thanks,
    Adam

    To clarify what you posted:
When opening the PDF document, your browser closes. When pressing the control key and opening the document, you get a dialog window (with the choices of open or save). What happens when you select open?
This is browser behavior, nothing to do with this being a PDF file. Which browser and which platform? If you are using IE7, popup blocker is automatically enabled, and if you are viewing this on a 2003 server, you have server security settings to override. Pressing the control key allows popups.

  • PDF attachments in Email lost ability to "open with"

Just in the last few weeks, suddenly ios email is treating PDF attachments as a picture only offering me the option to Save Image or Copy when I press and hold the preview image in email.
I need to be able to Open With my apps like GoodReader,
I have already tried a reset and that did nothing

I guess you mean that after ******* around deleting this and that, and getting it to work once or twice, the problem resurfaced ?
This is a bug pure and simple.  The same problem is in evidence when using a link to a pdf in Safari.  The only thing you get is the qick-view output (1.st. page) and no opportunity to open it with, or save it to iBooks.
You would think that Apple would want to solve this problem, wouldn't you?

  • Ability to open PDF Doc on Motorola Android Razr using version 10.4.2 Reader

I received an Email from my Bank with a PDF form and tried to open it on my Motorola Android Razr with version 10.4.2 Reader and it instructed me to upgrade. So I went on Google Playstore on the phone and I was told it was already on the phone. I then went to my pc which has version XI and it opened with no problem. How can I configure the Android phone to be able to open these important docs?

  • I am having trouble opening pdf on Explorer site using either X or XI?

I thought I tried everything from the Help site and the Support site.  Nada.  Still a problem.  I tried reinstalling, Explorer settings, older versions, etc.  I am running Win7.  Got any ideas?  Being more specific, I can not open any pdf when pulling docs off a website.  All that I see is the small monitor symbol in the upper left corner.  I try refresh, nada.  Any ideas?

Thanks, but I have tried that list of solutions and have not been able to get the thing to work.  Is my ver of Explorer too old, or does Window require update?   Again, thanks.

  • Lost ability to open new tab after tonight's update

I'm using Firefox 19, it got updated automatically tonight, and I've lost the + sign that allows me open a new tab. If I restart with add-ons disable, it returns but if I disable (in normal mode) add-ons individually to isolate the add-on causing the problem, the + doesn't return, even with all add-ons disabled. I'm sick of having to re-download FF every time there's an update.
