Lost about 500 songs after i-tunes update

I looked through almost all of the posts on this board (I work overnights lots of down time) and I found very helpful advise with getting my girls mini to work with xp pro, mine 2G has worked fine since day one using 2000 pro. But I have not seen this issue yet after I updated i-tune I lost about 500 songs. I found a few that were gone and re converted them and made sure they showed up played them but a day later the ones that I re-converted showed up missing again.

Ideally you would have backed up your iTunes library from your old PC so that you could simply migrate the iTunes library into the new one. If you don't have access to the old hard drive or a backup see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device. Though it is probably too late to recover anything from the nano it should explain how to get anything from the iTunes store that you haven't already gone and has some useful tips should you ever be in the same position again.

I am trying to transfer my library from one laptop to another and have lost about 600 songs, why is that and how can I fix it please?

Can anyone help me successfully move my complete library from one laptop to another because I plugged my ipod nano into the new laptop which was fully up to date and have lost about 600 songs.

Copy the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the old computer to the new computer.

Play count question. I have about 500 songs in my library that I know have played at least once...probably just once. Although there is a "last played" date listed there is no number in the play count column. Any reason for this? thx

Thanks, but the play count is not incrementing only on the very first play. All subsequent plays are fine. Meaning the play counts for these particular tracks are always one play short. I double-checked some of the tracks in question and I have not shortened, or stopped them early.

Search Google for "iphone 3g ipsw" (does not matter which one in your case, just need to restore your phone, then can do whatever). Open iTunes with your phone connected. Shift click on "Restore" (Apple click for Mac) and choose the IPSW file you downloaded. That is called a manual restore. Should help you out.

If you mean that your iPod touch (lates is the 5G)does not appear in iTunes then:

However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components

Hook up your iPod, there should be a selection somewhere that allows you to sync the iTunes purchased content ONLY back into your iTunes from the iPod.
Non-iTunes purchased content needs a third party utility, look at iLounge or elsewhere for it.
As always maintan a backup of your content on external medium, cd/dvd/external drive as Apple will not redownload content.
You bought it, your responsible for it's preservation.

Lost photos / camera roll after restore and update.

As the title says , I recently had to restore my iphone 3gs due to having problems with MAIL (problem fixed now.) but after doing a full backup and restore on the phone and update to the iOS 4 ( i think>) , I lost all of the photos that I had in the camera roll album folder , now I have loads of photos there that I do not want to loose ! I know there should be a way of getting them back from the backup but how ? Plus to prove even more that they are still there somwhere , when I connect it to the iTunes on my PC (Windows Vista) , under the yellow section bar it shows there are 315 (1.26 gb) photos on my device...but when I disconnect it and go into the album , there are 0 ! Now I have been reading about this online and people say that you basically take the images off your pc and sync them back onto the phone...but I havent got them saved on my pc anywhere...so where are they? PLEASE HELP me out on this one ,

The only place they may be is in a previous backup from before the restore. No Apple tool that I know of accesses these files within the backup file. There are reportedly some 3rd party tools that can get to the photos imbeded in the backup. The other option is to restore the old backup and then import the camera roll via iphoto or some other tool.
If you have no copy of the old backup, I think you are out of luck.
As you know by now, the iPhone's camera roll is treated as a digital camera, not as part of the sync.
For the second post, if you'd like Apple to add the import to the sync process, you can request that via the www.apple.com/feedback web site.

When I upgraded computers, I lost about 700 songs in iTunes. I am sure they are in a "previous library". Is there a way to retrieve these into my current iTunes?

I upgraded to a new PC and in the process about 700 of my 8,000 iTunes songs disappeared. They were songs ripped from my CD collection, not purchased songs. Would they be located in a "previous iTunes library" from prior to the upgrade, and if so, is there a way for me to retrieve them from the "previous library"?

The Previous iTunes Libraries folder holds copies of the iTunes database file, an index of the media and playlists that make up your library. You need to retrieve the entire iTunes folder from your old computer, or alternatively see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device assuming you have such.
If, in fact, the missing media has been transfered to your new computer, but iTunes has lost touch with it, then see Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash.

Lost a new mailbox after installing Security update 2008-03- 10.4.11

I was organizing my mail, created a new Mailbox in the Saved Folder and moved a lot of mail to it. Then I saw that there was a Security update available so I closed all apps and applied the security update 2008-03. Now in Mail, the new mailbox and its contents are gone. Help ?!?

Couldn't find it in my Library so I'm guessing rebuilding an index won't accomplish much. Could I have tripped myself up with the name I used? I called it .MDance and had created it, I thought, in Saved, so that it would be at the top of the list. None of my other mailboxes are named that way. It's a naming scheme I've used in Windows (ugh), but it worked to keep a current, important folder at the top of a list.
And, yes, I know better than to apply OS changes without a backup. So fooey on me. Luckily the messages I lost aren't completely critical. Many are still out on Bellsouth so I can 'recover' that way.
I'll be more careful about backups, I just have been so happy with Mac that I got lazy.

OK - before the IOS6 update... ituenes match worked fine. Now... i have songs skipping. It will show the artwork for a brief moment and then automatically move onto the next song.
I've tried everything, turning both match on device and itunes on and off, restore etc.
Anybody any solutions? I suggest we all demand our money back for itunes match for a start as I'm not paying for a product that doesn't work! I'm sure if we all do this Apple will hurry up and get it sorted!

IPod Touch 32GB stuck on white apple logo after Brain Tuner update

Hi. I did a Brain Tuner application update which kept on reinstalling by itself. I was forced to reset by holding the power button for 6 seconds. On restart, the iPod touch is now stuck on the white apple logo.
Any suggestions on how to get out of this? I would pull the battery if I could but we all know that is impossible. My only other recourse would be to return the iPod under warranty; I hesitate to do this because I have important info in the contacts and notepad.

I found out if you keep holding the power and home button until the iTunes icon and the USB cable icon appear, the iPod will show up in iTunes and will allow you to restore the iPod through iTunes. You have to make sure you backup often though; I only lost 2 days of modifications.

I have lost al my passwords after the last update. How do I get them back?

All my passwords disappeared after the update to FF32. Unfortunately sync no longer supports password synchronisation so it seems that all my passwords are gone.

Firefox 32 and later builds store the passwords in the logins.json file in the profile folder and no longer use the signons.sqlite file.
If you still have the signons.sqlite file that was used in Firefox 31 and older then you could try to recover the passwords saved in that file (you will lose passwords saved in Firefox 32).
You can force Firefox to reimport the passwords from the signons.sqlite file.
* reset the signon.importedFromSqlite pref on the about:config page to the default value via the right-click context menu
* delete the logins.json file in the Firefox profile folder with Firefox closed
When you restart Firefox then you should have the signon.importedFromSqlite pref with the value set to true and you should have the passwords imported in the Password Manager unless there may have been errors.
You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:
*Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)

How do I switch to an older version of my library? Itunes asked me to find the library, and I seem to have picked the wrong one. Ive lost over 500 songs!

Itunes told me it couldn't find the library, and asked me to find it. I apparently picked a version from years ago, because over 500 of my songs are missing, and some I deleted a long time ago have reappeared. I see a file labelled "itunes library" from yesterday (the correct one), but I can't find a way to make itunes use it. This screwup is costing me several hundred dollars at the moment!

I assume that this new interface AirPort Utility you are referring to is version 6.0. If that is the case you can download and install version 5.6. Both can co-exist on the same machine and I would recommend that you keep both of them. Then use 5.6 to administer the base stations for your networking requirements.
