Lost access to jam packs

After installing other sound libraries, which I have now uninstalled, I still can not find the jam packs with in logic. They are in place on my external harddrive, but maybe someone can help me bring them back so they show up in the AU instruments.
Thanks,
Scott

  • Lost access to Jam Pack instruments after migration to new macbook pro

I just migrated to a Macbook Pro and now all the instruments from my Symphony Orchestra Jam Pack are no longer available. I was also getting a message "Native Instruments Installation Folder not found" but after copying the instrument files into the Sampler Instruments from my old macbook to the new one, that went away, but I still don't have access in Finale to those instruments.
There's still no "Native Instruments Installation Folder" that I know of, but the message no longer appears.
Are these instruments no longer available in the new Garageband? This is a bit frustrating.

I FIXED IT!!! After AppleCare told me it couldn't be done...
I've been searching for hours online and couldn't find this anywhere, so hopefully someone with this challenge will stumble upon this.
    A clue was here: http://www.techvide.com/apple/install-jam-pack-on-mac-os-x-lion
but this didn't correctly describe my issue with an early version of Jam Pack 4: Symphony Orchestra
    What I did:
    1. Insert Jam Pack DVD 1
    2. ctrl-click Install Jam Pack 4 - Show original
    3. double-click JamPack4_Instruments.pkg
    4. You'll get some Power-PC Not Compatible with Lion warnings (only a few compared with the almost infinite number if you try standard install)
Instruments now appear and work just fine in garageband. <big sigh>
I wish AppleCare would know this, and I hope someone is planning on continuing supporting these Garageband instruments.

  • Can't see Jam Pack Loops in Logic Studio Browser

I have searched many other forums but can't find the same problem. Usually it relates to a separate disk for loops.
I have Garageband and 4 Jam packs installed on my computer (Dual G5 latest OSX up to date). Jam pack 1, Rhythm Section, Symphony Orchestra and something else... anyway I purchased Logic Studio (8) and installed that. During installation I noticed that it detected that I already had some of the Jam Pack loops on my drive so they were "unchecked" automatically and therefore didn't install. Now when I look in the loop browser only the Jam Packs that Logic did install are viewable in my loop browser. Yet the other jam packs are indeed viewable in Garageband. All of this is installed on a single internal drive that is the system drive (500GB) by the way. So I dragged the Jam Pack folders to the logic loop browser and it appeared to be adding the loops, but they are still not visible there.
Also, there is no dialogue box that appears to ask if I want to copy them or leave in current location as many other users have said it should ask. maybe that's because it's all on one drive though.
The other concern is that I wonder if the software instruments that come with the jam packs would be installed/available in Logic? Surely not, if I am just adding the loops to the browser. How do I ensure that I have access to all of the loops and all of the software instruments?
Can anyone please help with this, it would be much appreciated.

    Hi Jaffles,
The best thing to doo is go to the various "Apple Loops Index" folders, remove all the index files that are in there and then reindex your loops by dragging them into the loop Browser. The index files will then be rebuilt.
    regards, Erik.

  • Jam pack folders no longer show up in Loop browser?

    Hello everyone,
I had to move my apple loops from my system drive onto an external drive (needed the room on my system drive). To do this I deleted the logs for the loops, moved the loops folder to my external drive, and drug the folder back into the Loop browser. All the loops show up fine, but I lost the nice organizational folders in the loop browser that allowed me to search only a specific jam pack.
How do I get these folders back? I tried searching the forums for an answer but came up empty, so I apologize if this has already ben covered. Thanks in advance for your help!

Looks like I spoke to soon. Turns out you cannot re-install the apple loops for the Jam Packs on a separate HD (you can for the soundtrack pro stuff, but not the jam packs for some reason). So I'm still at the point where I can manually drag the loops to my external HD, drag them back into the loop browser and they seemingly index just fine, but the sub-folders are still missing! Any ideas?
Is it possible to add custom folders to the loops browser pulldown for organizing your custom loops?

  • Adding jam packs and loops

Hello everyone. This post may have been answered. Anyway, I have installed all jam packs and sound content on external drive. I was wondering how to index them so i can access them in logic pro as loops. It seems that some are there and some are not. Thank you for reply.

    1. How do I install everything...
run the installer and when the Customize button appears, click it. use the discloser triangle next to GB to make sure it's ancillary files are selected for installation
    2. Is there a list of all available Jam Packs?

    3. Do Jam Packs work with GB 08 and 09?
    yes
    4. Does only Apple make Jam Packs? If not, where to go for others?
yes, but may other companies make loops that are Mac compatible. there are also loops available freely on the net, as well as synths and SoundFonts (instruments):

    5. Can I install user created loops?
    yes
    How
drop them onto the loop browser
and where do I find them?

  • Can I get Jam Packs for GarageBand '11 on Snow Leopard?

I have GarageBand '11 (v 6.0.5) on a MacBook 2 with Snow Leopard, and I would like to add Jam Packs.  I know I can get them all if I buy MainStage and download them.  Unfortunately MainStage is now in version 3.3, which does not run on Snow Leopard.  And version 2, which does run on Snow Leopard, is no longer available. (Not supported, I understand.  Not available for sale to willing owners of older equipment I don't understand.  But I digress.)
I have a Mac Mini which I can upgrade to Mountain Lion, and get MainStage.  Can I then move the Jam Packs from the Mini to the MacBook?
    Thanks!

When you say you had to "run" MainStage 2 once - what does run mean? Did you have to open it or do anything else to run it?
I only launched it to be able to access the main menu bar and open the download panel.
I still downloaded these individual instruments but they do not appear in my Garageband loops or anywhere else on my iMac.
Have you rebooted the system after installing the additional content?
You should see additional instruments and loops in the system library  (Your Macintosh HD > Library). Have you checked the following folders:
    /Library/Audio/Apple Loops/Apple/ (for the loops)
    and
    /Library/Application Support/GarageBand/Instrument Library/
    /Library/Application Support/Logic/Sampler Instruments/
Perhaps you need to rebuild the Lopp Index, if you find the loops somewhere and they do not show in GarageBand:  Rebuilding the Loop Index in GarageBand
Silly question, but you have checked, if no filters are set in the Inspector, right? The top of the Info Panel  should be showing "Show all" and the search filed be empty.

  • Where are the Garage Band Jam Pack Files Stored?

Hi all. I am new to mac's so feel a bit lost.
I just installed the Rhythm Section Jam Pack to use with GB. They are supposed to be AIF Files (according to the box). I looked in HD>Library>Audio>Apple Loops and all I found was .caf files. I have a new white macbook with iLife 09. Are the above mentioned .caf files the ones that came with iLife 09? Are the AIFF Jam Pack files that I installed from the disk stored somewhere else?
    Many Thanks

  • HT1045 garageband won't accept my jam packs.

When I drag my jam pack folders into the loop browser it says 'indexing..' for a couple of minutes but doesn't do anything. I've tried moving the jam pack folders from the library of the root user to my own user library and back but none of it is working. Any ideas anyone? Thank you in advance
    Niall

So I went looking for the corresponding folders and saw that all the .caf files were there. I thought that dragging the folder icons onto the loop browser might get Garageband to reindex and recognise them but it was just experimental.
That i s exactly how it is done.
But an empty loop browser does not necessarily mean, that GB does not recognize the loops. Have you checked all filters?
The Loop browser may look empty, unless you click and select a button that is not dimmed. Or all your buttons dimmed, when you select the JamPack 1?
You may have selected a project signature that simply has no loops - like 12/4; and set the scale neither major nor minor, also the "preference" setting "preferences > Loops > keyword browsing > Filter for more relevant results" will exclude most of the loops from being displayed. With the signature set to 4/4 and selecting "All Drums" you should see lenty of loops in JamPack 1:
I'd move the loops folder back to exactly where it has been installed and where you indexed it last.  If clearing the filters does not bring them back, check the permissions on that folder. Are you signed in from an admin account?
Make sure the permissions on the loop folders and the loops are set, so that you have read access.
And if you dragged your loops several times to the loop browser you now may have duplicate loops.
I'd rebuild the loop index, and start over; see this document:

  • Jam pack alternate articulations -- please help?!!!!

How do you access the alternate articulations for Jam Pack instruments in Logic Express (e.g. the ones in the Xtra instruments)? In GarageBand you just had to change the modulation or foot control, but that doesn't seem to work in Logic. Can anyone help?
    Thanks in advance!

next thing to try would be repairing the disc, also from disc utility, however you must boot from the CD/DVD that came with your computer first and run it from there (if i recall it's available from the File menu, but i'm not positive on that).

  • Need Help controlling Garageband Jam Pack File Sizes

I recently purchased all of the Jam Packs, and would love to make use of them with both Garageband and Logic Pro. The problem is the HUGE amount of space HD space they demand. I've researched these forums, and read about the plan of installing the Jam Packs, moving the Apple Loops to an External HD, and then cleaning out the Apple Loops Library & Index files on my main HD. The problem is, once I did this (testing it with just the World Jam Pack), I STILL lost over 10 GB's of HD space, compared to what I had before the initial Jam Pack instillation! What's taken up all of this space, and how do I get my space back? CAN I put the Jam Packs on an external drive, or not? Thanks in advance!

I don't think there's 10 gig worth, but the Jam Packs install instruments as well. Leave those where they are.

  • How can I buy jam packs for Garageband 11?

Does anyone know how can I buy jam packs for Garageband 11?
I purchesed MainStage 3 & installed it but no jam packs are showing up in Garageband.
I believe Main Stage 2 had jam packs which could be used in Garageband, but I cannot find anywhere where I can buy & download MainStage 2.
    Thanks! )

  • Disappearance of Jam Packs...

I have just bought a new computer (Lion), I had all the jam packs on my old computer (Snow Leopard) but have lost the disks a long time ago. Due to the updating of various programmes, I don't want to copy across my old hard drive onto the new computer, so I thought I'd buy new ones. They don't seem to exist on the apple store any more. Can anyone shed light on where I can get them or what's going on? They are essential for my work in the music industry!

  • Installed Jam Pack but see no new loops in Garageband loop browser. Why not?

I successfully installed Jam Pack but don't see new loops in Garageband loop browser. Is there some extra step I'm supposed to do? Before, I had about 57 Rock/Blues loops, and I still have just that. I had 14 instruments under All Drums, and guess what? Still only 14.
I know the install completed successfully - it said so, anyway.
    Clues?

Have you filters set on the Loop Browser?  Make sure the GarageBand Preference "Loops > Keyword Browsing > Filter for more relevant content" is off.  Otherwise you will  see a fraction of the available loops.
To see, if the JamPack has been installed, set the pop-up meu at the top of the Loop Browser to "Rhythm Section". Is that available?
Did you reindex your Loops after installing the Jam Pack? And did you restart the Mac? In Mt. Lion only restarting a Mac will ensure, that an application is not resumed from a cache, when you launch it again.Restarting the Mac will terminate GarageBand for sure.
If restarting the Mac does not make the JamPack Loops show, rebuild the Loop index.  See:  Rebuilding the Loop Index in GarageBand 6 or earlier - Apple Support

  • Jam Pack 2 & 3 loops don't show in loop browser

When I add the Jam Pack 2 & 3 loops to the loop browser, they do not appear-how can I get the loops to show up ?

Here's the method to reindex I was given at another forum (worked for me):
    1-Open the loop browser
2-Search for a default apple loop (for exemple 70s ballad drums 01).
3-Search the "70s ballad drums 01.aif" file in your finder. It should be in "HD-Library-Audio-Apple Loops-Apple-Apple Loops for GarageBand".
4-Drag the "70s balla drum 01.aif" file to your desktop.
5-In the Logic Loop browser, select the "70s Ballad Drums 01" loop.
6-Logic will tell you it can't find the file and ask you if you want to re-index all your appleloops.
7-Go back to your finder and, replace the file to it's original folder.
8-Click on "Reindex Loops" in your Logic loop browser.
