Lost Access to Mail

Scrolling down to Quit, accidentally hit something else, and haven't been able to see any mailboxes since.

Click Mailboxes below Get Mail.

You mean the Apple Mail app? Updated through software Update in the Apple Menu?.
Or maybe you downloaded Mail from another source?
Do you still have Snow Leopard or didn't you update your profile?

  • HT5621 What do you do when you've lost access to your e-mail and your apple ID and have no way to reset them? (with the find my iPhone feature enabled)

    Hi
I've lost access to my e-mail and my apple ID. No way to reset them. It's a hotmail email address and Microsoft is refusing to reset it even after I provided all the necessary proof of ownership.
    2 problems:
I can't switch to a new apple id and loose all my purchased apps
I can't switch to a new apple id as I'm being asked for the password of my current apple id - to disable the 'find my iPhone'-feature
How do I proceed as my device is virtually unusable as is ..
    Many thanks

This is a user to user community, Apple are unlikely to read your comments, if you have any suggestions that you think might enhance iCloud you can send Apple your feedback here.
We also can't speculate on what exactly iOS 7's new security features will actually do, all that's available is what has been said so far by Apple, anyone using a developer version is forbidden to discuss it anywhere but in the developers community.

  • Lost access to e-mail and Safari

Recently I lost access to my e-mail through the Mac stamp icon on my desktop control panel. I can still access e-mail through my Internet Service Provider's website by clicking gon their webnail icon. I also have lost access to the internet through the Safari application but can still access the internet through Firefox and Internet Explorer. When clicking on the stamp or safari icons they bounce but do not activate the applications.
I am wandering if these two occurances are related.
Has anyone else encountered these problems and have any advice? I am not a computer technical type.

Have you moved the applications to another location? If so then move them back into the Applications folder where they belong. If this is not the situation then try the following:
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. Then select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now shutdown the computer for a couple of minutes and then restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (4.0 for Tiger) and/or TechTool Pro (4.5.2 for Tiger) to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

  • Lost all my mail in my inbox +my mail account

lost all my mail in my inbox +my mail account settings except @mac.com after a crash of my system.
When I rebooted my mac, a pop-up from mail was telling me that it had created a new folder called "distributed" in replacement of the usual "sent items" folder. This last folder is still there but is empty.
Can I somehow recuperate the settings as it was before the crash?

Hi Jake, and a warm welcome to the forums!
Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
    5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
After we're sure those things are OK, we can go further.

  • I changed my ID due to an email accessibility issue and I lost access to all my purchased music for the last few years.  Been browsing through the support area and it seems like everyone is saying I will have to rebuy everything.  Is this really true?

Apple has to be more user friendly than to let something like this happen, right?

Did you change the ID, or did you create a new Apple ID? If you had simply changed the ID then what I suggested above should work as the ID itself is the same (even though the name of the ID - the address - has changed).
However if you created a new ID, logged in with that, and purchased items on it, then you have two separate IDs each with purchased associated with them. You say that you can't log in to the original account with the 'alternate' email - have you tried logging in with the original email address? It doesn't matter if it doesn't actually work to receive mail, as far as logging in is concerned it's just a text string.

  • HT4929 I moved to ICloud but on my main PC (IMac) I've lost all e-mails at Mail and cannot use Mail anymore as my regular e-mail. What do I have to do to synchronize with ICloud?

Please always post your system when you have a query - in this case it makes a considerable difference to the answer.
Is your system pre-Lion? Earlier systems are not compliant with iCloud but you can set Mail up manually to access your iCloud email:
Entering iCloud email settings manually in Snow Leopard or Leopard
Entering iCloud email settings manually in Tiger

  • I have mail in two versions 4.5 and 5.2 and cannot access my mail

I just migrated from a year old imac to a new mac mini and have two versions of mail (4.5 and 5.2) and cannot access my mail. Also I lost some files I was working on my mac mini. Is there anything I can do or not?

You have to use the latest version, is this a MobileMe or .mac account?

If you don't have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account or you don't have access to the email account, then you will need to contact iTunes Support / Apple to get the questions reset.
Contacting Apple about account security : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699
When they've been reset you can then use the steps half-way down this page to update/add a rescue email address for potential future use :

  • I lost access to my email account quite a while ago.  I don't remember what password I had on it.  Even though it says everywhere else what my apple id is in the link that comes up you  can't change it

I lost access to my email account quite a while ago.  I don't remember what the old pass word is.  My I cloud account under my email settings is correct.  My phone set up fine, but when I set my ipad up, it comes up with old email address.  In the email settings the icloud is correct.  But it will not let me change it in the part I need to.  It is greyed out.  This is actually for the iphone 5.

If you're running iOS 6, go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, then sign back in with the new ID.  This deletes the account and your iCloud data from your device, but not from iCloud.  Provided you are signing back into the same account, your iCloud data will reappear on your device when you sign back in.
To avoid losing photo stream photos, save them to your camera roll (if not already there) before deleting the account.  To do this, open your my photo stream album, tap Edit, tap the photos, tap Share, then tap Save to Camera Roll.

The question mark means the computer cannot find a bootable volumes so can;t do anything, That, combined with annoying sounds, strongly suggests a failed hard drive.
You can ask a "genius" at an Apple Rtail Store to test it but I'm pretty sure the drive is kaput. I'm hoping you had your data backed up.

  • I can not access my mail on Yahoo. It tells me there is mail in my mailbox, but when I click on it I get a 404 error message.

I can access my mail(my.yahoo.com) when I use Internet Explorer, but not when I use Firefox. It is only happening on my work computer.

  • How do i delete an old apple id i have lost access to both primary and recovery email

how do i delete an old apple id i lost access to both emails?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You don't need access to the email address, just enter the address and your password, that's it.

Any clue, how i can add a mail account to apple mail app, but with separate password / pin to open it.
Years ago there was a program called mail switcher which added this functionality, but thats gone.
    cheers
    Tom

They would have to be logged in as separate users in order not to see your account in Mail. Whatever accounts put in Mail under your account will show up. All mail accounts usually have there own user and password. The only thing you can do is to remove the password from Keychain and take the account offline so you don't keep getting prompts for passwords each time it checks for mail.
    Not a great solution.
Best way is to give the other user their own user account with their own mail and enable fast user swithcing to log between the different users if all access the computer frequently.

  • How can I prevent deleted mail from ending up in "All Mail"     and "Archives"?  To my horror, I've emptied these boxes and lost all my mail from all my boxes  (and why do I need to enter this question three times?"

How can I prevent deleted mail from ending up in "All Mail" and "Archives"?
To my horror, I emptied these boxes and lost all my mail from all my boxes .
All mail also disappeared from my iPad, I suppose because they are "synched"
(Also, no offense, but why do I need to enter this question multiple times?)
    Thanks for any thoughts.

I'm having a similar but slightly different problem. My company just migrated to Gmail, and it's saving mail drafts every 30 seconds into my Trash folder.
I unchecked the "Show in IMAP" preference in the Gmail settings, but my Drafts folder completely disappeared. I went back and checked it and the folder reappeared (with my drafts still in there).
I like the idea if starting an email on my laptop and having the option of finishing it on my iPhone or iPad, so only saving Drafts locally would not be ideal.
