Lost Administration menu (Gnome)after huge upgrade,

Gnome issue:~
I just found that all items such as Session, Service... under Administration menu have disappeared... I tried to edit the menu but I didn't see any items can be ticked within Administration .Please could anybody help me solved this problem? thanks!

GDM 2.28 no longer has gdmsetup, so that entry would be gone due to that. The other changes for Gnome 2.28 are listed here: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Gnome_2.28_Changes
Maybe have a look and see if any other problems that you're experiencing are listed there?

Context Menu disappeared after EP7 upgrade

Hi all,
We've recently upgraded our sandbox and dev portals to EP7. Since then, we've noticed that in KM, the context menus that should be located to the right of the files/folders is missing. Actually, it would be more appropriate to say that they're invisible rather than missing because if I hover my mouse over the area where it should be, the mouse pointer changes. If I click on this area, the menu comes up.
Has anyone seen this problem before? What do I need to do to fix it?

Hi Stephen,
if you upgraded from EP6, please reimport old EP6 theme into EP7.
I and others had corrupted theme after the upgrade from EP6 to EP7.
The major bug is all web dynpros don't load ok.
Give this a try before modifying your theme.

HT4211 Lost my settings icon after ios7 upgrade

I have lost my settings app after upgrade to iOS 7, how do i retrieve it.

search in the spotlight search to make sure it didn't get moved, if its still not showing up then:
Settings>general>reset>reset home screen layout
this will take any apps you have in folders out of them but should bring back settings

Have lost Contacts and messages after bad upgrade, anyone had the same?

Took most of the day to install the new software upgrade, it kept failing. Now I have no contacts or messages. Has anyone else had the same problem or know how to fix? there is a terrible lag now too

Yep I lost all my contacts and texts. I tried to restore but the only option to restore from was the latest backup which included having no contacts and text. You would think they could offer the last 5 or so should you need to restore a reliable version.
I've talked to support and they said if it wasn't back up by Outlook or Google then it's gone. I got all my music, videos, tv shows, apps, and pictures. No contact or text. Unfortnately, some dropped the ball on this risk. Hopefully they will learn and do better next time.
One piece of encouragement, after having no texts, one came in yesterday morning. I read it and responded and when I went to the main text areas they had all reappeared. Unfortunately, since there are no contact names, I am looking at numbers which are unfamiliar to me. But it's something to dig in to. Hope another something simple will trigger the return of the contacts. I just don't know where to rub the lamp to get the genie to come out.

Lost mapping to songs after itunes upgrade

Upgrade erased mapping from songs in library to song files in external hard drive (Error message when trying to play any song: "song could not be used b/c the orig file could not be found")
Is there an easy way to remap the library all at once? My library is just a subset of the external hard drive so i don't want to just dump that in all at once..am i stuck with having to re-do my library piece by piece, please say no................thanks

Go to the HP support site and navigate to your printer. HP provides excellent email tech support beyond original warranty period. I would suggest first download the latest drivers and installing, then request tech support. Remember to Repair Disk Permisssions in Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility before and after installation.

Lost folder named "Home" after Leopard upgrade

This may seem ridiculous but I actually had a personal folder called "Home" on OS 10.4 and when I upgraded to Leopard it disappeared. I thought that it might still be on the computer but that the directory structure might have been corrupted. I used DiskWarrior and was happy to see that the Home folder was still present and had all of the original subdirectories and files. But after rebuilding the directory structure using DiskWarrior the folder still doesnt appear. Can some one help me in transferring the subdirectories and filed to a new folder ... that I will obviously not name "Home"?

Lost data and apps after ipad upgrade

Just upgraded to iOS 5 with iPad1 and lost ALL apps ,, and worse yet .. all DATA is gone.
Everything appeared to proceed ok during the upgrade.
Lost critical data.
Suggestions?

YES... PLEASE HELP SOMEBODY! Apple??? Why is there NOT a BIG WARNING about upgrades when you log on. I have lost hundreds of notes that were all my passwords etc. to my property management business. I kept them on my IPad3 because Apple, I was told by Apple rep, was sooo stable I should put all my important data on it. Now I find it's gonna' cost me like $70 dollars to get my data! I found software that will fetch it and I can see it on the free trial but to get it back it will cost me! APPLE - YOU SHOULD HAVE A FIX that does not cost you users more money! I had just got approved from the budget committee to get 32 I pads for our sales teams and managers but NOT now. I have read that 74% of all users who upgraded have lost photos, notes and darn near everything else. What the......? PUT OUT A WARNING - BEFORE UPGRADING BACK UP EVERYTHING OR MY MAY LOSE IT! Just bad business and not something that a reputable company would do. Gotta go now and spend $70 bucks of my hard earned money on a system that lost half of my stuff on it and now freezes up ALL THE TIME, can't watch the news, can't run most apps correctly and sure can't watch You tube even. Reboots itself constantly and I REALLY wish I didn't have it. When my new android tablet gets here next week I may sell this **** thing on Craig's list. I Had bought additional storage, that got lost when I upgraded my iOS. How do I recover my additional storage?

You are logged into the same account that you bought it with in Settings > iCloud, and it doesn't show as being available in Settings > iCloud > Storage ? Have you tried logging and out back in to Settings > iCloud and seeing it it then shows ?

I know I have all my contacts in the cloud but I have not an idea how to put them back onto my iPhone 4S! I managed to get SOME back by syncing but there's loads missing, including some quite vital clinic direct numbers (I have MS and hate going through swivhboards!)please, if you can help, tell me how to do it as if I was a 5 year old! If you have logged into icloud.com using a computer's browser and found all your contacts, then it should be easy to get them back. On the device, go to Settings>icloud and turn off contacts. Later turn them on again, that should download the contacts. If it doesn't work, then on the same icloud screen, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account. Then log in again.
If on the other hand, icloud.com is missing most of the contacts, then you'll have to rely on an icloud backup to restore from. It's a bit tricky if you have backups turned on,

I finally upgraded my husband's iPhone to the newest software version and now his pictures are gone. It still shows on iTunes that they are there, but they are not showing up on his phone. Help!

While your husband's iPhone is attached to your computer and iTunes, click on the iPhone's icon on the left side, and then click on the "Photos" heading near the top right of the main display. Under there, you'll see the "Sync Photos From" followed by all the information you should complete for a successful transition.
Once all that is complete, click the "Apply" button near the bottom to make your changes happen.

Did you install any configuration profiles? Sounds like the restriction for "Allow installing apps" is unchecked. When that box is unchecked, the App Store disappears. Fix the restriction and you should be good to go.

I have iCloud set on my iphone, ipad and mac. But, for some reason, my mac has no calendar and now neither does my iphone. Fortunately my ipad has my calendar - but I must get that back on my iphone. I haven't synced by ipad to anything manually - but I assume icloud should have everything. When I added an appt on my iphone calendar - it immediately duplicated on my ipad.

Permissions issue after Mavericks upgrade

I have just updated an early 2008 IMac with OSX Mavericks.
All software running fine, but I noticed occassionally I was getting an authentication prompt on some files, didn't follow, but simply authenticated as and when I need to, I assumed it was when I moved files from my Mac Pro to my Imac.
Having run the upgrade however, I get an error message to contact the vendor (Battlefront) as my copy of Combat Mission Battle for Normandy has lost its license.
After the upgrade I had also purchased from the same vendor Combat Mission Fortress Italy. Having downloaded this and gone to run after copying to applications, this software gives me an error message saying unknown developer so I have got no where near installing a license.
Having contacted the vendor and tried to get a work around, I am now getting the message it is you Mac not our software, despite the fact that all my other software is working fine (and the fact that the Combat Mission Battle for Normandy game worked fine until the upgrade).
I do feel some sympathy for them, I do think the Mac has some sort of permission issue - I also probably compounded this by deleting a user which I did not recognise called 'wheel' which I suspect now is some form of default permisison.
Anyone got any ideas, how do I 'reset' the system - I have tried fixing the permissions through disk utility.
My vendor got me to run a sudo command through Terminal, but I got the message...
sudo: unable to stat /etc/sudoers: Permission denied
sudo: no valid sudoers sources found, quitting

Before my Mavericks upgrade on my Mac Pro, no problems ever (use my Mac 4-8 hours a day) using my Bose Companion 5 USB connected speakers. I've tried shutting the Mac down and plugging the Bose USB cable into another open USB port = no joy and other combinations. I tested the same Bose Companion 5 USB speakers on two other laptops with NO issues (ouch...they were running Windows 7) I have deleted the two .plist files, did the CMD+OPT+P+R reset, etc... = no change. Looked into Midi Audio Setup and did not see anything in there to change even though I tried a couple of things and no avail (there was no Garageband setting/entry).
I still get a solid "BEEEEEEEEP" sound every 20+ seconds, when the sounds tries to toggle, by itself, between the Bose USB Audio device and the Internal Speakers.

Lost music from iTunes after upgrading MacBookPro to OS X Yosemite. Has anyone had this problem? How did you re-import all your lost music? My iTunes currently only contains all of the music I have purchased from the iTunes Store but nothing that was burned to my iTunes. All of my music files still seem to be located on my hard drive within the iTunes folder but they did not re-import into the library during the upgrade to Yosemite. Thanx for your help.

Thanks for the question. If I understand correctly, you still have the music on the computer but need to re add it to iTunes. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you isolate or resolve the issue.

Audio Lost after Leopard Upgrade on PB G4

I have to admit first off that my machine did have the original "sound looping" problem that launched with the HiRes Powerbooks a couple years ago. I'm not sure if this relates, but it might in some distant way. It was fixed in 10.4.5
However now after I upgraded from Tiger to Leopard I have lost all audio.
Using the keys to change volume shows the sound icon with it at full screen and the sound wave picture part will either be full on or gone depending on the button pushed. But the blocks remain full on. The sound icon on the menu bar is grayed out but full. And in system preferences, it says that there are no options for my internal speakers at all, but the level slider is grayed out and all the way up.
External speakers don't work either.

Good to go. I just needed to shut down my system entirely and reboot.
No problems.
