Many developers when they updated their apps fro the newer iOSs dropped support for the older iOSs. That included Skype and other developers. Unless you have a copy of the apps version that was compatible with your iPod/iOS you are out of luck. Do you cave such a copy in a computer file backup??

Adobe CS5: Unable to install updates, close instances of AAM to continue.

I have come across this issue twice so far in my summer madness of machine deployments where I work at a unversity. The message I get while trying to run updates using Adobe Application Manager:

I'm mainly working with CS5 Design Premium Suite (running OS 10.6.3) with users/myself and haven't been able to solve this problem. We utilize Active Directory logins and give the users admin rights ( I know...I know gotta love education). To get right down to it I'll list what I've tried on my machine and on someone else's with the exact problem.
- MADE SURE NO OTHER ADOBE APPS OR AAM IS RUNNING AS A PROCESS (duh)
- deleted any local adobe pref files, cache files and adobe application support files.
- deleted login keychain
- ran disk permissions
- ran Adobe Cleaner and reinstalled the whole suite numerous times...did nothing
- tried using both a different local and AD account, this did infact allow me to run the updates. This proves that either local accounts or AD account can work...just not mine!!
- I've even moved my user folder data so next time I logged in, it would create a new user folder. This still produced the same error. Does it have to do with anything in the user directory services and permissions??
One pattern I found was using another account whether if it was a new local account or a fresh AD account logged in, I would get the prompt for the AAM to edit the system.privilege.admin file prior to it searching for availible updates. Logging in has myself I don't get this.... therefore it goes straight to the error message.
I hope there's a fix for this, I've learned far more than I ever wanted to learn about the file structure of the vast CS5 suite and its smaller AAMUpdater counterpart.

I have the same issue, particularly with Pixel Bender 2.5, all the other upgrades get installed correctly without trouble but this one always fail, the message I get is the same one every time:

Installation failed
Can you point me in the right direction? It seems to me that the patch is faulty.

Here's another update on my issue with Adobe Application Manager, I just realized today that actually none of the available upgrades got installed. Although it only marks an error with Pixel Bender, other components such as Photoshop, Premiere and others aren't being upgraded either even when the program tells you otherwise, what I mean is that for example there's Photoshop 12.0.2 available for download so I click on "Update"; the files get downloaded and installed with no error message being displayed but when I check the software it is still version 12.0.1, the same is happening with Premiere and another one, can't remember which one.
This is additional to the issue of Pixel Bender being unable to upgrade.

I tried to download all the available updates individually from the Adobe website, the only one that went through was Photoshop, but then when I double clicked it to install it the same faulty application manager launched and I got the same behavior than before, it runs the installation and displays a message that states that everything was installed correctly, yet there no upgrade performed.
All the rest of the available downloads failed to mount.
Also the speed for download is excessively low, I checked my connection and the issue is not on my end, but yours.
This is starting to become very frustrating.

My Muse Application disappeared after installing update, how do I get it back?

I did some updates via Adobe Application Manager while installing a XI pro and when it was complete, I went to open Muse and it was gone... how do I get it back? When I go to download it again it takes me to the Adobe Application Manager where it lists 17 apps, Muse is one of them that says "installed" but it is not anywhere on my computer. I had a similar issue that I think was caused because I still had the Beta of Muse "installed" on my iMac running 10.8.2 and not the current live version of Muse.
I used the Adobe Application manager to install Muse and other apps after I joined Creative Cloud in September. It completed and said I had Muse installed, but in reality I believe it was still only the Beta. I realized all of this this Sunday Oct 30, 2012. I scoured the machine to make sure only the Beta was on my machine and that was correct. Until I deleted the Beta and restarted I could not get the "installed" status to be corrected. However, once it was corrected I could not get the Adobe Application "installer" for Muse to become active. Going to Adobe.com to get the Muse installer yielded a result where I could not get the official installer to work while I was logged in. Logging out, I was able to download a trial installer but it took 3 tries before it installed, citing a broken installer. Since that point however, Muse has worked just fine and it synced up with my Creative Cloud account.

Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro - Installing Update

I have just needed to re-install Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro.
After the install I had to complete all following updates v 9.10, 9.11, 9.12, 9.13, 9.20, 9.30, 9.31, 9.32, 9.33, 9.34, 9.40 and 9.41
A rather lenghty process but did this to make sure all the elements of Acrobat have been installed.
My question
is is necessary to install all the update like I have - or is it possible to choose the latest available update?
Probably a good question for Adobe Technical to answer.

Lost Cd Rom - prompt when install update

I've got a 6500Slide and had the PC suite installed on my desktop.
I tried updating the software the other day at the prompt for new updates being available.
Got as far as the wizard asking me to insert the CDrom that came with the phone, which I now can't find :-(
Got stuck there - I've uninstalled the software & tried from scratch downloading it again to install but everytime I get stuck at the prompt asking me for the CDrom.
Help! Is there a way I can download & install the software for my phone without the CDrom that I've lost?

You should not need the cd to install latest pcsuite. I suggest you remove previous installl and clean using pcsuite cleaner before downloading latest version and reinstalling.

Adobe Exchange panel not installing update

I am on OS X 10.8.5 trying to get Illustrator CC 2014 to update its Exchange panel.
I have been trying to get it to update for the past hour and it downloads through Illustrator just fine, but it won't finish installing. I currently have Extension Manager CC 7.1.0.113 and I can see the extension I need to use in there, but since I can't get the Exchange panel to update, I cannot use it. My file is an 80 layer AI file that needs to be split into 80 separate files, and I really don't want to have to do it manually, thats why I have an extension to do it. I just need a damn fix on this so I can get back to work without going crazy. Any ideas or suggestions appreciated.

Lost Adobe Pro with DC install, now I can't install Pro in CC. How do I do it?

I need to be able to combine and optimize PDFs, previously done in Pro. Now with the DC update I don't have that option. When I go into CC to download the DC Pro version, it prompts the download and when I click on it to initialize, it opens my CC admin window but shows no icon to download. Then I'm stuck.

Just did the new update and upon finishing, i got an error msg, -1 or something and it said my phone could not be update, which doesnt really worry me. But to even get my phone back working i had to restore it, Because all i had was the plug in symbol.
Well i restored my phone, lost all my music, because i manage mine manually, also lost all my PDF files that i had stored in my ibook.
So end of the day. im ****** off. and annoyed with these updates that we get that pretty much 50% of the time, screw you over.

Your Mac is well equipped to take care of your files, Time Machine is solid, and you already have it.
Mac Family Tree have done you a disservice, no doubt. AutoSave would have been nice if it had worked. But you compounded it by making no backup provision. Your data is important to you, not MFT, it is a wise choice to take care of safeguarding it rather than relying on them.
I feel for you, it's not a good way to learn just how important backup is.

New update 5.0s wont download

I have an ipod touch 3rd gen and it does have 64gs. I went to update it and it started to download just fine and then all of a sudden it stoped saying that the network connection had stoped working. The conncetion was working just fine, So how do i get the update to download?

Update Macto Yosemite before downloading Lightroom and Photoshop?

I Have a desktop Mac with Lion version 10.7 on which I currently run Elements 10 and the Google Nik plug-ins. I am considering
upgrading my editing to the photography CC package of Lightroom and Photoshop CC.
In order to get the best out of these should I take the step of upgrading my desktop to Yosemite from the present Lion version?
