Lost Album

I just purchased a MacBook on Christmas eve and after a weeks use I decided to become a iTunes user with one of my wife's authorizations. I downloaded an album I liked and was quite happy with the quality. After a few days the new MacBook decided not to work and die. Unfortunately I wasn't able to do any backups and lost my 1 iTunes album. I had the MacBook replaced with an update to a MacBook Pro and didn't want to aggravate the people at Best Buy about what was on my hard drive. But now since having the time to deal with how to recover my lost purchase and the equipment to do backups I was hoping to be able to resolve my dilemma and replace the lost album. I really don't know how to start so any info or links would be most appreciated.

Purchase it again or fill out and submit this form.

Hi, using iphoto 6, i suddenly lost albums: they are still in the directory, but no pictures in some albums.Using finder, I can locate the pictures and even get preview. But impossible to import them. Anyone can help? thanks

Try these in order - from best option on down...
    1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
    2. Download <a href="http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/"><b><u>iPhoto Library Manager</b></u></a> and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
    3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new *iPhoto 6* library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Rolls and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Roll Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

  • Lost album artwork on my ipad2 how do I recover it?

Need help to recover on my IPad2  lost album art work?

Restoring your phone to an earlier backup will replace the data on your phone with the data from the earlier backup, so you will lose any more recent data.  Your only other option would be to purchase third party software that can read and selectively extract information from your earlier backup file, such as iPhone Backup Extractor.

  • When will Apple resolve the lost album artwork saga for Mac/Windows Users?

    Hello,
I'm running Windows XP, although this problem appears to be both OS- and platform-independent. I've read several forums within and outside the Apple Support site that describe issues around lost album artwork.
In a nutshell, iTunes loses artwork that was manually obtained/added (and also iTunes-downloaded). I know I can right-click lost albums for downloaded music, but this is annoying because I have thousands of albums (or single songs from albums) and I don't want to constantly reload the information. It's even more aggravating because a large portion of my music collection consists of rare albums, and it's not unusual for me to spend significant time finding a single cover.
I've tried some tips described in the forums, but it really comes down to users asking: Can Apple please acknowledge that this is a broad v8.x.x issue and commit to resolving it in an official release?
Artwork coverflow-style viewing is a huge part of the music experience to me. I LOVE iTunes, but not if using it means that I'll constantly be frustrated and worried about data loss. I'm loyal to iTunes and don't want to leave, but I'm already looking at other players.
Apple - We're begging you. Can you please fix this?
    Thanks
    -B

Hello ! This is a user chat board - you can provide feedback to Apple via itunes menu > Help > Provide iTunes Feedback.
My artwork doesn't get lost, so I wonder what is different on your PC? I've embedded the artwork in the MP3 tags, and they are ID3 v2.3.
You might check your Windows Media Player settings. The default settings get info from the internet and can change things without you ever 'running' WMP. Then the next time you look at a file in iTunes, it is changed - so it seems iTunes did it.
It's in 3 places in WMP - general, privacy, and library tabs.
If you are talking about itunes store downloaded artwork going missing, that's a different matter. I think not, since you mentioned rare albums - presumably not sold in iTS, so therefore not downloaded from iTS.

  • Adust feature not working follow up Question/ lost album folders!

I tried trashing my iphoto plist from preferences and now have lost all my album folders which have very important projects sets I'm working on. I didn't empty the trash so I still have the folder but putting it back didn't seem to work. Is there a way to get my albums back. Help please! It's kind of important for me.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Lost Album Artwork

Does anyone know how to recover album artwork that was lost during an upgrade? They are still missing even when I try to retrieve it from the pull-down menu which always used to work.

    Heey,
no need to downgrade your ipod's software.
The problem is in iTunes - it can not build successfully the artwork database on the iPod device.
What you need to do is:
    1) go to
    http://www.redchairsoftware.com/anapod/screens.php
and download the trial version of Anapod Explorer
    2) Install it. On the options page enable artworks on your ipod, than find a button named "Rebuild Artwork database" or something like that and click it. In 20 seconds your artworks will be working again
    3) Complain to Apple !!!
iTunes for windows is a ******** software !
I don't know about the mac os version, but since you are complaining about broken artworks it seems it is not working as well under mac os !
Ok, everybody makes mistakes, but the problem is that apple are not confessing they make mistakes because they are soooo great ...
I am never again going to use itunes

  • Lost album covers

ipod touch had synched my albums covers. resysnched my ipod touch and now album covers are lost.

This happened to me twice today.
    The first time with songs.
I restored it... updated the iPod.
    no problems.
till later, all my album art was gone!
    restore again.
Apple,, get on the ball, I'm really beginning to not like my touch!

  • Lost Album Cover Art

When you download music from iTunes, you also download the album cover. I ended up wiping my hard drive a few months ago due to a virus, and had backed up all my music, but lost the album cover art. I would like to back them up, but I don't know where to look. Where are they stored in the computer?

OK in windows media player, it will pull the album art up, but it doesn't attach the art to the song, instead it hides the art in the system and attaches a series of numbers to be ID. In iTUnes tho the art is attached to the songs tags.
Now there may be some program you can find on the net that will automaticly do this for you, I have no idea but heres how to do it manually.
Now the art work will reside where the song is. Since most music is put in the "My MUsic" folder i'll focus there, but if you have songs in another folder there artwork will be in that folder with them. Open My Music folder and goto tools>folder options>view tab Now check "Show Hidden Files and Folder" then UNCHECK "Hide Protected Operating System Files" You should now see all the album art listed.

  • Lost album images

since i have upgrade to itunes 8, i have lost the album images on may ipod classic. On the pc itunes the images are correct, but i don´t know wy most of the images on the ipod are blank, not all?
please do anybody know haw can i solve this problem.
    thanks a lot.

If your iPod is set to update automatically try disabling then reenabling the artwork again to get it to reload:
    2. Disable "Display album artwork" in iPod>Music tab and click Apply.
    3. Syncronise the iPod with iTunes (Right click on the iPod icon and choose Sync from the menu)
    4. Re-enable "Display album artwork" in iPod>Music tab and click Apply.
    5. Syncronise the iPod again.

  • Lost Album need to download again

I lost an album on an older computer and need to download it again. I downloaded one of the songs again and was charged for it. Can I download a previously downloaded album and not get charged again?

Apple let's you download only once, unless there is a problem at the time of purchase they usually will not let you re-download any older albums. However, it is worth a try to open a support ticket with Apple.

  • Lost album purchase

I recently bought a couple singles and a album on itunes and since i have had probs with my comp so i restored it,I then had to re-install itunes,I used the same account as b4 and as i thought i would i lost all music added from cd which wasnt a problem. However,I plugged my iphone in to sync it again and it said would i like to transfer my purchases which i said yes to and then when it had finished syncing it only showed the 2 singles i had bought,I looked everywhere for my other purchased album and it was no where,I then bit the bullet and went to download the same album again and it said i had already purchased this album,Can anybody please help me find my missing album or is this a scheme that i tunes have that lets u keep ur singles but have to download albums more than once? Please get back to me if u know the answer
    Many thanks in advance.
    Ja.

    There is no scheme.
Did you include your iTunes library on your computer with your computer's backup along with all other important data on your computer's hard drive before restoring your computer? If not, this is where your problem lies and not with any scheme. Although iTunes includes an option to transfer iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store from an iPod or iPhone, an iPhone is not designed or intended to be used as a backup storage device.

  • Lost album covers from amazon and not itunes store?

lost some of my album covers since transfer of library to new computer. how do i get it back as some music was purchased through amazon and not itunes store?

If it's a relatively small number of songs, select the song or songs (with missing album artwork) in the iTunes music library listing.  Right-click on the selected song(s) and select Get Album Artwork.
If you want iTunes to go through your entire music library, select Music under LIBRARY in the iTunes sidebar.  From the menu bar, under the Advanced menu, select Get Album Artwork.  Don't do it this way, if you have some albums where you added artwork that you selected yourself, because they may get replaced.
It does not matter if a song was purchased in the iTunes Store, ripped from CD, or purchased at Amazon (or elsewhere).  If the song can be identified as a song in the iTunes Store database, it will get the artwork for it.
Some artwork may not be available.  In that case you can add your selection.  A good way to do it, if the songs came from Amazon, is to find the song or album at Amazon.  On the web page for the song or album, click-hold-drag the image (of the album artwork) from the browser window to the iTunes window, and drop it where the album artwork normally appears.  NOTE:  You can do this for multiple songs at one time.

  • Lost albums after iPhoto Library move

I recently moved my iPhoto library to an external harddrive and lost all of my albums that I had organized my photos into.  iPhoto had trouble finding the library after I moved it, and the albums seemed to dissapear after that.
It's all backed up with TimeMachine, is there any way to retrieve the organized albums??
    Thanks!

First off tell us exactly waht you did
the correct way to move the library to an EHD
Moving the iPhoto library is safe and simple - quit iPhoto and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity to the external drive - depress the option key and launch iPhoto using the "select library" option to point to the new location on the external drive - fully test it and then trash the old library on the internal drive (test one more time prior to emptying the trash)
And be sure that the External drive is formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) (iPhoto does not work with drives with other formats) and that it is always available prior to launching iPhoto
And backup soon and often - having your iPhoto library on an external drive is not a backup and if you are using Time Machine you need to check and be sure that TM is backing up your external drive

  • I seem to have lost albums in iphoto and i can't find them in time machine either

I have lost the last few albums created in iphoto and they don't seem yo be in time machine either

With the amount of information you've provided it's impossible to offer a potential solution.  We can't see your computer so we need to know the details of your problem and setup, i.e.:
what version of iPhoto are you using?
what system version are you running?
what do you see when iPhoto opens?
    what fixes have you tried?
    where is you library located?
did you apply any updates or upgrades just prior to the problem occurring?
are you running a "managed" or "referenced" library?
    what type of Mac?
how much free space on your boot drive?
