  • LOST ALL USB PORTS

Hey guys, really hope you can help cause I'm new at this.
Just put together this brand new rig with Vista Ultimate, well here are my specs :
    MSI975X mobo
    4GB Corsair PC6400-800MHz RAM
    WD 320GB Caviar HDD
    Spire Pininfarina case
ASUS Radeon EAX1950PRO 256MB graphics card
Everything was running fine 5 minutes ago, when suddenly, after plugging in my digital cam to transfer a picture onto my HD, I lost ALL of my USB ports (front-2, back-6-including those on the D-bracket). I have no idea what happened but I was using a USB keyboard and USB mouse (diNovo Edge-Bluetooth, and Cordless Trackman-USB). Basically, when I plugged in my cam, the keyboard and mouse froze (then I realized that all USB ports had been lost, so it wasn't the keyboard and mouse at all). I had to restart the 'puter with the case's restart button, and then at the POST screen it said that there were no keyboard detected (of course). Then I had to take out an old PS/2 wired KB to reboot and enter Windows, and that's the KB I'm using now (along with an old mouse, PS/2 as well). I can't tell you how stressed out this makes me, because I have no idea what is the cause, and almost no experience at putting computers together. I think I installed everything correctly (the 9 & 10 pins on the USB headers are not used - my case included the correct connectors and I didn't have to unwire or cut anything), and all USB ports were working absolutely fine up until I plugged in my cam (in fact, I had plugged it in previously, and everything went fine).
    Can anyone help me?
Thanks in advance to the kind soul who will be able to provide me with advice that will solve this problem, which I hope isn't too bad.
Oh, and yes, the USB keyboard and mouse were both enabled in the BIOS.

where do you plug your d-cam? front panel or back panel's USB port? If front panel, that means the port comes with the casing, not with the motherboard. MAke sure that your wired the USB cables correctly, and watch out of the 10th pin on the board, it is the OC pin (overcurrent). If your casing does not support this pin, don't plug it.
No, my case's connectors have the correct configuration. The 10th pin doesn't have any wiring on it. But thanks for the input. By the way, how's life in Malaysia? I see you're from Penang... I'm fascinated by Kuala Lumpur for some reason. I'll be visiting your country as soon as I can, and particularly KL.

Please do 2-3 SMC and PRAM resets back to back and retest. Also use new cables, they can go bad.

  • I have an iPod Classic 5th Gen.  After 1 month I've lost all my music and playlist files.  The only files left are music I have purchased from iTunes.  How do I restore my music library to my iPod?

I have an iPod Classic 5th Generation.  I have not used it for about one month.  When I turned it on, I had lost all my music and playlist files.  The only thing left on the iPod was the music and audio books I have purchased from iTunes store.  I tried to delete everything on the ipod by sliding the hold button and then pressing the center button and the menu and I saw the apple logo on the screen but the iPod wouldn't reboot.  Any suggestions as to how I can delete everything on the iPod and then plug it into my computer to restore my music library?  I am using a Windows 7 operating system.

Does both your Windows and Macbook iTunes have the same library of songs?
if it  does then, much easier to proceed, else try to load the Macbook with the same library as Windows.
Note that only one of the Macbook USB port is good for iPod Classic, the other is too slow and may cause timeout, and I would suggest disconnect all other USB devices, while you Restore or Sync the iPod Classic.
Connect the iPod to the Mac, (if iTunes launch, please close it back.)
Use Disk Utility -> select the iPod Device->First Aid->Repair (use option FAT32)
After the Repair complete, eject the iPod.
    Connect back to the Mac
When iTunes launch, Restore the iPod when Prompted, (use FAT32)
    Sync your library.
    Good Luck!

  • My iPod Classic 160GB has lost all its music and won't sync or restore

My iPOD Classic 160GB has spontaneously lost all its music - approx. 5000 songs. One minute they were all there, now they're all gone - display says "No Music" although memory still shows 23GB in use? I tried to re-sync on iTunes but the iPod won't sync (error 1415) or restore (error 1439). As things currently stand,my iPod is just a very expensive paperweight - please can anybody help with this?

    hi lindsay
i understand you have all your music still in your itunes library?
Try the basic resetting of your ipod, also try another usb port.
Have you tried ,when ipod is connected, click on your ipods name, for example lindsays ipod, another window should open up and you can see  summary, click on the sync box ,bottom right hand corner, see if this helps.
Or you could ,when you have itunes open, click for updates.
    hope this may help you
    thanks madforit

  • I purchased some films on my ipad and since syncing with my itunes, I have lost all my films, can anyone help?

I purchased some films on my ipad and since syncing with my itunes, I have lost all my films, can anyone help?

There is some troubleshooting for 0xE8 error codes on this page : iOS: Unknown error containing '0xE' when connecting to a Windows PC
For the charging via USB, a lot of computers don't provide enough power to their USB ports to charge an iPad at a sufficient rate (it may still be charging, especially if the iPad's is locked and the screen is off), the iPad's own wall charger is generally the best way to charge it.

what the hell is going on??i tried anything but doesn´t works

Is "Do not disturb" activated in the Settings?
Did you try to set up the phone as new device without using the latest backup?
How to back up your data and set up as a new device
    Also try these steps:
Verify that the volume is set to a level you would normally be able to hear.
Ensure that there is nothing plugged in to the headset jack or the dock connector.
If the iPhone is in a protective case, make sure that the speaker port isn't blocked by the case.
Make sure that the speaker and dock port aren't clogged with debris. If necessary, clean it with a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush. Carefully and gently brush away any debris.
If an audio issue occurs when using a specific application, try testing other applications to see if the issue persists.
If the iPhone is paired with a Bluetooth headset or car kit:
    Try turning off Bluetooth.
If you experience difficulties with the Bluetooth feature, follow these troubleshooting steps.
    Restart the iPhone.
If restarting doesn't fix the issue, ensure that your iPhone is updated to the latest version of iOS.
If the issue is not resolved after restoring the iPhone software, please contact Apple Support.

  • Downloaded Adobe design suit web premium in 2012 and lost all information on that purchase because Apple wiped my mac clean...What do I do?

So I brought my Mac book pro retina to Apple to fix a glitch. The Technician called me and told me to come back it up before he does anything else. So I go pick it up and bring it home to find out the whole computer had be factory reset. I was pissed cuz why should I have bothered to pick it up if he already wiped the memory he told me to come back up. So i bring it back and complain to them but they obviously can't bring back that information once it's been factory reset. I also can't sue them for their f-up cuz you sign a stupid piece of paper that says if they f-up and lose any memory that its your fault for not backing it up. Anyways this poses a huge problem for me because I have now lost all my Adobe programs. I download the suit online instead of getting a disk because this mac has no cd port and at the time I didn't have an external one. Not sure what email I used to buy the program with either....I also don't think posting this in a forum will help either but adobe only gave me that option as a form of help....it doesn't help if i need to directly talk to someone in their company. I really don't wanna have to buy the program over again cuz who has the money to buy a several hundred dollar program twice? I know I don't.
I'm guessing I have to call their customer service, but does anyone else have any ideas?

  • 975X Platinum - All USB ports suddenly dead

    Hello all,
Something similar happened to my previous motherboard (I wrote about it here).
This time though, it happened when I plugged in my scanner to one of the front panel USB ports. Windows displayed a USB power outage error kind of thing and all USB devices stopped working. I unplugged all USB devices. Plugging in any USB device now causes Windows to display the "USB device not recognized" message. Everything else seems to be working fine. Looks like some transistor got fried or something. Some people have suggested me to reset the BIOS and unplug all cables from the motherboard and then trying again. Have to do that yet.
But this USB ports dying thing is really very annoying. I feel that if I buy a new motherboard, it would die the same way some day. This is bad. For the time being, I have installed a PCI 4-port USB host adapter to fulfill my USB related needs. If it serves me well, I think I would continue using my motherboard without it's USB ports working. I think it's far better than getting the whole thing replaced (retailers are really sluggish here and RMA could take 1-2 months to arrive). Basically, the whole situation just sucks as it is!
Has anyone else faced similar problems?

OK ... finally problem solved! Woohooo! Here's what I did:
I was almost fed up. Two of my IDE HDDs (connected to RAID controller) stopped showing up in My Computer (and device manager). I decided to flush the board off all it's power. I unplugged the PSU, disconnected all power cables from devices and the motherboard. Removed RAM sticks, and finally, removed the CMOS battery. Reconnected everything back, and voila .... all USB ports started working! Also, HDDs appeared back in Device Manager. I had lost all hope! Talk about miracles! If anyone else faces this problem, be sure to try what I did. It might help.

  • I've done an update on 7/25/11 as requested by itunes since I've done the update I've lost all my music and videos; also I've lost my USB drivers. What can I do to restore my 2nd Gen Ipod touch to factory?

I've done an update on 7/25/11 as requested by Itunes. Since I've done the update I've lost all my music, videos and icons. I also can't connect to any PC via the USB port. What can I do to restore my 2nd Generation Ipod Touch back to factory?

I also have a 2nd generation iPod and when the new version was being advertised on the home page, I clicked on it. And I saw that the update was compatible with iPod touch 3rd and 4th generation, iPad 1 and 2, and all the iPhones. But it wasn't compatible with iPod touch 2nd generation. So you downloaded an update which wasn't compatible with your iPod. I'm sorry.

  • Customer cannot open all the ports - MAP 9.5

    Hi,
Taking an inventory using MAP 9.5.
Customer cannot open all the ports.
    135-139 and 445 are open.
We are still not getting any success [just 3% inventory success]. Further only those machines are listed in WMI Success which are in the same subnet as the machine on which MAP is running.
We are using Inventory Scenario>Windows computers and Discovery Methods >AD + Scan IP range.
    Is there any alternate method?
    Thanks.

  • Lost all contacts with OS4!!!

I've lost all my contacts after today's update. Any solutions?

Yeah, this is a ROYAL pain!!! Very bummed I had to go through this and I didn't hear of this widely experienced bug before I caught it.
I don't use Mobile Me. I use Yahoo for most of my email and that at least had my email addresses.
I resync'd with Yahoo and got 90% of my Contacts back.
What I lost is all the new phone numbers I manually entered over the past few months. I got some of those back by going into my SMS messages and seeing what numbers came up without names associated. So I at least had a record of the number.
But, any changes I made to clean up or add info to Contacts is lost.
I would have hoped that the iPhone backup would cleanly take everything and also seamlessly allow me to port it back to my phone after a catastrophe like this. Didn't seem to be the case or at least there was not a simple option. I did use the Advanced tab checkbox to copy Contacts to the iPhone but it didn't catch everything.
Is there another way I should be syncing Contacts on my Mac so this doesn't happen again?

  • Lost all wired connections on BEFW11S4

My wired and wireless connections have been working great, but I suddenly lost my wired connection. My PC is plugged into the router, but the router indicator light for the port does not light and the PC indicates that the local area connecrion is unlugged. I tried a different computer and got the same result. Restarting the router and rebooting the computer did not help. All four ports seem to be inoperative. My wireless connections still work fine. Any troubleshooting suggestions?

  • I lost all my data in ical does this have to do with icloud/mobil me?, I lost all my data in ical does this have to do with icloud/mobil me?

I lost all my data in ical does this have to do with icloud/mobil me? There is no account related to my icalendar. When I ty to enter my ATT/Yahoo it says that they do not allow CALDAV?? HElP Somebody!

    Hi Steve,
If this is dot mac or Mobile me you can still use IMAP eMail in the iCloud.
Do not delete the old account yet. sign up for an iCloud account if you haven't.
MAKE A NEW ACCOUNT - DO NOT TRY TO ALTER YOUR EXISTING ACCOUNT.
I understand .mac mail will still come through. Do not delete the old account yet.
You cannot use .mac or MobileMe as type of Account, you have to choose IMAP when setting up, otherwise Mail is hard coded to change imap.mail.me.com to mail.me.com & smtp.mail.me.com to smtp.me.com, no matter what you try to enter.
iCloud Mail setup, do not choose .mac or MobileMe as type, but choose IMAP...
On second step where it asks "Description", it has to be a unique name, but you can still use your email address.
    IMAP (Incoming Mail Server) information:
        •    Server name: imap.mail.me.com
        •    SSL Required: Yes
        •    Port: 993
        •    Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
        •    Password: Your iCloud password
    SMTP (outgoing mail server) information:
        •    Server name: smtp.mail.me.com
        •    SSL Required: Yes
        •    Port: 587
        •    SMTP Authentication Required: Yes
        •    Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
        •    Password: Your iCloud password
Also, you must upgrade your password to meet the new criteria:  8 characters, including upper and lower case and numbers.  If you have an older password that does not meet these criteria, when you try to setup mail on your mac, using all of the IMAP criteria listed above, it will still give a server error message.  Go to   http://appleid.apple.com         then follow directions to change your password, then go back to setting up your mail using the IMAP instructions above.
    Thanks to dpepper...
