Lost all information on iphone when updating

i lost all information on my iphone 4 when pluging into itunes. itunes asked to update the phone and when finished all information on the phone was gone. itunes did not back up the phone when it was pluged in. is there a way to restore the phone to its original settings?

have you done a recent backup of your phone that you can restore to? If you don't then everything is gone.

I lost all my phone contacts after updating my iPhone 4 to iOS5. It's not just contacts, my photos, messages, mail and everything is gone. I did the back-up thing on iTunes too before I updated the iOS. The only thing that restored was the apps. Is there anyway to get this back?

I did a reset of my phone yesterday and now when I go to purchaed to download my paurchsed tabs there is nothing there.
I see them in my ipad but they are not in my itunes app section either.
I searched for one in the app store and it usually said "open" or had the cloud icon with the little arrow to downlaod again (free). But none of that shows up at all this time. All the apps that I'm missing show up in the pp store for me to buy again like I never purchased them at all!
What's going on?
I'm missing a ton of apps!

I just wanted to add this information to my post:
I have purchaed, free and paid, 618 apps.
In my phone apps to add to my phone when I plug it in my computer only 266 apps show up.
In my itunes "puerchased list" only 266 show up.
Thank God I have not updated my ipad. There I went to my "purchased" under the ALL list in the app store and there I do see my 618 apps!
Where did my other 352 apps go? Which many were paid.
I want my apps back.

The easiest thing to do is transfer the library from the old computer to the new one. Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings: Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive. Open iTunes and immediately hold down the option (alt) key (shift on Windows) so you get a prompt to choose a library, then select the copied iTunes folder. If this is to a new computer and you put the copied iTunes folder in the default location of Macintosh HD > Users > *User Name* > Music then you don't even need to start with the option key held down, iTunes will automatically look for it there. (Make sure there isn't anything already in the iTunes folder there that you want to keep since you will be replacing it with the one you are moving.)
If you do not have access to the old library (and you always should in the form of a backup you regularly make of your computer and store on a drive in a safe place) and this phone has been synced with a different library you can backup certain items, then erase the phone and restore those items. This will not include media not purchased from the iTunes Store.

Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself independently backed up against loss. To use a device with a new computer you transfer the content from the old computer (or its backup) directly to the new computer, not the device to the new computer. Media syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.

Quite possibly, at least assuming you are based in the US. Install the latest build of iTunes, sign into the iTunes Store and click the Purchased entry in the Quck Links panel. Here in the UK I only get tabs fro Apps and Books but, if I understand correctly, you should also get a tab for Music. Click on the Not in My Library button and you should be able to download your purchases again.

Thank you for using Firefox Sync. Without a recovery key, I am sorry you cannot recover right away. I know at the top of my head that it is possible to move the account to the new Firefox sync. [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-set-up-firefox-sync How to set up the new sync]
However this is currently not available in version 28, but version 29 (Beta and Aurora) On those versions you can go to about:accounts and select I already have an account. It *as far as I know* does not require a recovery key.
Once you have it set up, make a copy of the profile folder. you can copy it to the new installation of version 28 if that is the version you wish to continue using.

put your phone into DFU mode and connect to itunes, let itunes restore your phone to latest firmware, if your phone is officially unlocked then it should restore normally else if it's carrier locked then you need original sim it came with. search internet for how to put your iphone to DFU mode

Before I updated my iPad to iOS 5, I backed everthing up to iTunes, and after the update it transferred everything back. All of the apps were saved, but all of the data within the apps are gone. I lost all my data from my iPad when I upgraded to iOS4. Luckily I got most of it back with a restore to backup. I recently got an iPhone 4S. When I went to set it up I realized that I hadn't upgraded the iPad to iOS5. When I attempted the upgrade it said I couldn't do a backup - something about an error during the back up. I had to reset to factory settings in order to upgrade and I again lost all my data. Unfortunately the last time the iPad actually completed a back up was May of 2011. I'm attempting to restore to the May settings and see if I can recover any data or if I'm SOL. Any idea why the recent upgrades are mucking up machines? The early upgrades went smoothly. Only the last 2 have been problematic.

Lost all my calendar appointments when syncing iPhone

Just synced my iphone, nothing new or different but I lost all of the data entered in my iphone. It wiped everything on my iphone and did not copy it to Outlook.
Any suggestions for how I might recover the lost, rather critical data?

I have a similar problem. Syncing with mobleme via iMac,iPhone, iPad. Entry's made on the phone or iMac will sync. The iPad is sporadic. If I open the iPad calendar. Sometimes the info show, sometime not and I noticed if it shows times are incorrect. IPad shows 10:30 and iPhone/iMac shows 2:15 which is correct.
I have set up and removed mobleme several times but still have this issue. Also if I just put it on push I get no syncing at all it has to be timed to get any updates.
Similar with contacts. iPad seems to get all out of whack too.
Anybody know if this is a bug. I have seen this behavior since version 3
