Lost all music on ipod but the space is still being used

I have seen this posted already and i apologize for a repeat. Those posts didnt have any useful info though.
My problem:
I am in France staying at a friends house. I brought my new 60 gig ipod video with me and was charging it on his laptop. I believe what happend was his laptop fell asleep while my ipod was still plugged in. I disconnected my ipod and went to listen to a song and all of my music and video files were gone. My photos are still there. I checked the about menu in the settings are and it says i have 40 Gigs available space. This means the videos and music are still using space. Does anyone know how to get them out of hiding? I really need the help and id like to be able to have my music for the 10 hour plane ride home!

If that doesn't work, try restoring your iPod (if you have the music on a computer with you)...

And then put the music/videos back on
If you don't have the computer with the music on it, try downloading YamiPod...

Reintalled OS, but disk space is still being used from old files?

I tried reinstalling the OS after my macbook would freeze when i tried to log in. I first tried to archive and install and then it said it couldn't complete that.I then put in the 2nd OS disc and it created a new user profile and my computer is working fine. The only thing is that a few alias are still being picked up from the old users and there is only 60 GB of space left on the hard drive. None of the information on the old user files is totally important so I can do without it, but I would like all my hard drive space back

if you don't need the old user go to system preferences->accounts and delete the old user. also, check to see if you have a Previous System,s folder at the top level of the hard drive. delete that too and empty trash.

The main thing to do is to sign out all services on your iPhone, like iCloud, iTunes & App Store, iMessage and FaceTIme. Check out the article below for more information.

Lost my music on ipod, but itunes has it

While putting music on iTunes, and connecting my iPod, the iPod became blank and no longer contains my music. However, iTunes has all the music. iTunes popped up with this message, "The software required for communicating with the iPod is not installed correctly,please reinstall iTunes to install the iPod's software."
If I reinstall iTunes, will all my music be lost?

Problem with Nano 6G, It is recognized with all music in iTunes, but the screen of the nano itself will not turn on, help?

So, as stated it works perfectly fine on itunes; this meaning that all the music and the hardware information shows up on the computer, but the screen will not turn on when plugged in or when by itself, and the battery is fully charged, any one know how to fix this?

Lost all music on ipod

I've just got back my 17" powerbook after having the HD replaced thanks to the extended coverage I bought. And after having lost all I did not back up, which was considerable, including my music library, I felt secure knowing that my little ipod held thousands of little dittys to melt the blues away until I apparently/mistakenly sycnched them into oblivion. Please tell me the thousands I spent is not lost and gone forever.

This is why Apple reminds you to back up your purchased music when you buy from their store.
When you hooked up your iPod to the new iTunes library, you should have received a warning message indicating that your iPod was linked to another iTunes library and clicking the YES button would result in your iPod being erased and replaced with the songs in the new library.
Did you not get that message?

My music is gone, but the GBs are still used...help please!

Hello...ive searched for the answer without any luck. Please help me, i've got a 60GB 4G Photo iPod.
Yesterday i selected a song to play, and it froze. I reset (select+menu) went to the same song...same results. Reset again, but this time all the music was gone! I've reset it again since, but my music (and personalized settings) still have not returned.
I've used iTunes hoping that the reconnect would help, but iTunes requested that i name my ipod, starting all over! My 50GB of music is still being reported leaving me under 10GB of free space.
I've run the iPod update, still no luck.
Is there a solution that will allow me to get my stuff back? Any help is greatly appreciated.
It was purchased in Sept 05, still has some time left under warranty.

But you can do it this way.
iTunes prefs -> Advanced. Uncheck Copy files to itunes music folder when adding to library.
Insert the DVD and in iTunes Add folder to library, select the DVD.
Leave the DVD in, connect the iPod and update it. Make sure it is on Manual update.
After you remove the DVD and restart iTunes, there will be an exclamation mark in front of the songs it cannot find (from the DVD.

Maverick update, Lost my sent mail mailbox, but the inbox is still there and contains no messages!

I lost my sent box after maverick update, the sent box that used to appear under the paper airplane icon. The inbox is still there, but it contains no messages.
I have tried to Rebuild the mailboxes, removed and added again, restarted my computer, synchronized my account.

All music is gone but "other" space is full

My iPod was messing up so I reset it.
I went home and reset it (holding down the center button and menu button) while it was plugged in (mistake) and after that all my music was gone. However, when I go to memory, there's still 113 gb of "other" space taken up. This is a 120 gb ipod classic.
Is there any hope of recovering my music or do I have to restore?

Could you explain in more detail what exactly is your situation? Do you mean that the "Purchased Items" playlist is missing from iTunes? Or that the tracks you purchased aren't shown in the iTunes Library any more? Or do you mean something else? Deleted playlist that updates ipod-- lost all music on ipod

like an idiot-- i accidentally deleted the playlist that is used to update the songs on my nano. so now whenever i connect my nano to update it theres a msg that says something like "cannot update ipod, the playlist used to update has been deleted." i still have the songs on my itunes but i cant get them on my ipod.. what do i do?!??!

Create that playlist again.

I'm having the same problem on an iphone 4s running iOS8; when i updated to iOS8, all my ringtones went missing, and when i got a £50 gift card for christmas (2014), I purchased some songs from the iTunes store on my iPhone. i downloaded songs from paramore, panic! at the disco, coldplay, and imagine dragons, over wi-fi, and they went into my iphone music library; but when i re-opened the music app a few days later, in a place where i had no wi-fi, except for my 3G phone signal, some cloud icons appeared next to my newly purchased songs, telling me to re-download them from the cloud, when i haven't even deleted them. this has happened twice now, and i had to use up some of my 5GB data allowance to redownload them from the cloud. This is annoying and i need to fix this issue ASAP.

1. I assume that that suggests that it is not normal for a browser window to respond with minimisation? It is just weird when a window just disappears, no reason given (and since there is no obvious loss of internet it can take you by chance)

Tell me about it! It is impossible, I came here to answer via the link in the emailed notification, was already signed out and signed in and was returned to the front page. Had to go back to my Mail, click the link again and this time, luckily, I was signed in. Compaq computer crashed and lost all music that was on the computer. How would I go about getting a listing of all purchased items and download them again? I know when i first got set up it said I could download up to 2 times when purchased and I have only downloaded once. But need a listing of songs as well.

One thing that I also recommend in the future is to back your iTunes library up relatively regularly. You can get your purchases in the cloud just fine, typically, but at the very least, it will save some time by backing it up.

Provided the music plays in iTunes on the computer
Try:
