Lost all my album art

I notivced I had a few albums with no artwork in my library. I went to Albums/edit/select all, then file/get info, and checked the art box and hit apply.
All the album titles started running, so I thought it was updating everything. Now I have NO artwork for any of my library.
This used to be a simple thing, not sure what has changed.
Can someone help me?

Glad it's working.
Enjoy your Apple gear.

  • Lost all my Album Art Covers when Upgrading to iTunes 5.0

Why did I lose all my album art covers I painstakingly inputed into my ipod the past year. After this I am seriously considering using another device!!! BEWARE OF iTunes 5.0 if you haven't already upgraded. I tried contacting Apple and the woman I spoke to informed me taht I would have to pay for the tech support. If any one knows how to get the information back please help!!!!

    Hi Ken,
If this is what I think you are referring to Ken, then don't worry, all is not lost.
This has happened to me once or twice in the past when either installing a new version of iTunes or when I have re-linked my iPod to my other computer.
One thing to check first though:
If you open iTunes and look in your Library and select any track you like (you don’t kneed to play it) and make sure that you have the 'Show or Hide Song Artwork' tab at the bottom left of iTunes (its the fourth one in) selected, can you see the Artwork for your track?
I know you are concerned about the artwork on your iPod, but this is important, if it is showing that’s great. If not, it might just be switched off. If you look at the grey bar that makes the top of the Artwork box that views the image, does it say 'Selected Song' or 'Now Playing'? If it is the latter, then with your mouse just click on it and your Artwork for that track should appear.
Makes sure this is the case for a few others, and if so, your artwork is not lost and can easily be put back on to your iPod.
Now Make sure your iPod is connected and showing in the Sources list on the right of iTunes.
Now go into the iPod options menu by going to the Edit menu and selecting the bottom option 'Preferences' and then opening the iPod tab. You will see an option to show your artwork on your iPod. Select this then click OK out of the Preferences and do an update.
iTunes will then say its updating your iPod, and when it has confirmed that your music is updated, it will then import all your artwork back into your iPod and it should then be present when you use your iPod.
Depending how many tracks you have on your iPod and in iTunes, this might take quite some time. For me last time without about 4 tracks on an AMD Athlone this took about 40 minutes.
I hope this is of help.

  • I lost all my album covers!

My husband ran the most recent update, and now all my album art is gone! Any ideas how to get it back? Is there a way for itunes to go through my ipod and add them all, or do i have to do them all one at a time?

Hey, I don't know if this will work but here it goes. On the top of the tool bar for Itunes there is a column that says Advanced, in that there is a button called Get Album Art Work, if this button only works one at a time i am sorry for getting your hopes up but if not then Rock On!

  • Copy my music and all the album art

  • Question on Lost Tags and Album Art

O.K., I mentioned in another thread that my iTunes library suddenly vanished, but I have been able to “Add file to library” to get everything back in there. Unfortunately, a lot of my album art and my tagging went back to the way it was before I modified it. If I open iTunes again and find nothing there (seems unfortunately to be common) and have to add the folder back in, is there anyway to do that with all the tags and album art in tact?

  • I connected my iPad 2 into my computer and lost all my album artwork?

I need help trying to figure out how to get my album artwork back on my iPad. I connected it into my computer and lost all of it. Especially the ones I downloaded directly onto my iPad.

    Hello, Cpugliese.
Thank you for the question.  If your album art is attached to all your media on your computer, then processing a sync should allow the album art to return.  If it does not, deselect the sync music preference in iTunes then hit apply.  Once this sync completes, select sync music again, apply and let it process.  If all album art is missing from your computer, see the articles below.

  • Aperture lost all my album settings!

Spent about 3 hours setting up a wedding album with a customer. I printed one page as a proof to see how things were going. Looked good. Went back in and was going to print 4 more pages. Just before I presssed the "print" button in the print dialogue, Aperture "quit" unexpectedly! After I restarted the application, it had lost all the work I had done on the album! The images are still in the project, and there is an album, but the album reverted to another theme than the one I was using and lost all the images! Is there anything I can try to get the album setting back, or am I just screwed? Wish we knew if anyone at Apple ever reads these things.

  • Why is all my album art the same?

    Hi all,
I have an AppleTV 3rd Gen on automatic OS updating. I have my iTunes library shared and accessible to my AppleTV via home sharing. I have an annoying problem where all my songs (2400+) have the exact same album art but only when it's playing music. When I'm trying to select individual songs, the appropriate album art for each individual is displayed. However, when I play a playlist of songs, there is only 1 album art picture used for EVERY song (even if it's not in the playlist). Has anyone else run into this issue? How did you fix it?

  • Delete all ipod album art

I recently realized that album art takes up a little bit of room on my ipod and I have it scattered throughout my ipod. This generally wouldnt pose a problem except that I'm running low on space. Is there a faster way to delete all album art rather than deleting it one by one on the info screen? thanks

Select all the songs and Get Info.
Check the Artwork box, then OK.
    You have 30GB or 60Gb.
Your artwork is only gonna take up a few hundred MB at the very most. Probably more like a few dozen MB. Maybe 10-20 songs.
After all, with all the music you have, it would take probably would take 15 days of continuous listening to hear every song.
Why not simply rotate the music on the iPod every week?

  • I just lost all my albums in all my iphoto libraries.  Anyway to recover them?

I have a 27" imac.  This morning I turned on my computer and accessed iphoto....I have several libraries and in each one of them, all my albums are gone/missing.  Is there anyway to recover them.  It seems very weird that they just disappeared.  I have run utility disc a number of times.  thanks

First try Rebuilding the iPhoto library and see if that helps. You can also recover them from your backup.
Also PLEASE complete your profile. It's difficult for us to help you without at the very least knowing what iMac you have and what version of OS X is loaded on it. You can update your profile by clicking  Your Stuff in the upper right and then Profile and fill out the pertinent information.

  • ITunes 5.0.1 - lost all my album artwork

I used the automatic update tonight, and everything seemed to go fine but now I see that I'm without any of the artwork that I had downloaded. Where do I find this? And how do I make iTunes recognize it again?
    Thanks for any help. Lisa
Also, just an FYI for people - back up all your music BEFORE upgrading to 5.0 - I lost all of my music when I upgraded from 4.9. Ultimately it was irrelevant b/c my hard drive was crashing and had to be replaced. Starting all over, everything is fine, but all the possible fixes on these sites couldn't find my old music again.

The artwork is stored in the music files. When your hard disk crashed and you lost your music, the artwork went with it.
Unless you have put the artwork back into your music files after the loss, it is gone. Sorry.
And yes people should always keep their stuff backed up.
Not just before doing an upgrade, but all the time because sometimes a disk can fail and give little warning.

  • TS4062 I have lost all my album artwork on my iPad while syncing with pc??

All my album artwork has gone....please help

iTunes uses information in the ID3 tags when organizing the library. If the artist tag is blank then the files are classified as unknown when iTunes is arranging library.
That bit if info will not help you though. The default setting for iTunes is to copy your files into the iTunes folder and arrange into folders this way artist>album>track. There may be a folder for compilation albums that will be compilation>album>track. There will be separate folders for podcasts, movies, and tv shows also, with subfolders as needed.
You can turn off the option for iTunes to copy files to iTunes folder. When this is done files are left where they are.
As for undoing changes, you will have to do that yourself. IF you had iTunes set to copy then your original files and arrangement should still be there.
