Lost all my data on my ipad!
An automatic update has reset my ipad and lost all my data.
How can I get everything back including photos, games (and the stages I had reached) etc that I should have sitting backed up on icloud?
I wish I could answer that question definitively. What it should do and what it actually does are two different things - no matter what anyone tries to tell you. That has been my experience with my iDevices anyway.
Back to your issue, you can restore from one of the older backups and it should contain most of your app data - of course depending on how old the backup is.
Connect the iPad to your computer, launch iTunes and then right click on the iPad name on the left and select - restore from backup. A window will pop up that you can select one of the older backups from.
Now the backup obviously would not contain anything more current than what was in the backup on the day that the backup was created. So your scheduke and calendar would not be up to date. If the photos on the iPad were from a sync with iTunes, they should still be available to sync again with iTunes on your computer.
Its really up to you if you think that restoring from one of those backups would be updated enough for you, or if you just want to move on from here.
You should probably read this before you do anything so you will know exactly want will be returned to your iPad if you restore from the backup.

That's certainly odd... the activation being lost could have been a carrier issue or iOS software issue...
Was the phone already working and activated prior to this issue?
You may be stuck with having to restore...
By default iTunes or iCloud (whichever you have designated) will back up your content and settings... Content wise remember it's still always in iTunes even if you remove it from the phone...
If a back up was performed prior to you have this issue (either by iTunes or iCloud) then performing the restore will take a bit but wont cause you to loose anything as after the restore is completed iTunes will ask if you want to restore from a back up or set up as a new device... choose the restore from back up option and choose the most recent back up listed and it will then restore all your settings and content...
Keep in mind this will only be ture IF a back up has recently been saved in iTunes or iCloud...
In iTunes it's easy to tell... open iTunes and go to prefferences... go to the devices tab and it will tell you the device and last date/time of last back up...
Unfortunately I'm not aware of how to check to when the last iCloud backup was performed UNLESS you happen to have another iOS device already... another iPhone or iPad for example...
If you do, then on that other iOS device... goto Settings > General > Manage Storage (under the iCloud section) and it will show you any iCloud back ups youve done with any devices -

Your content will only be where you put it. It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer.
You can transfer itunes purchases from your iphone: File>Device>Transfer purchases.
You can import your pics taken with the iphone as you would with any digital camera.
You can e-mail the other pics to yourself, they will never be of the original quality.
You can out a unique contact and calendar entry on the computer. You should get the option to merge the data when you sync. -

Is there some way to move everything?No, do not re-import your images. I assume you can see the thumbnails in the library module, just cannot access the full images, right? If this is the case there should be an exclamation mark in the top right corner of every one of your pictures and you only have to tell LR where the images are now.
Click the exclamation mark of one of the images and a dialog window should pop-up, telling you that LR cannot find the file, but with an option to locate it. Press "Locate" and navigate to the folder on your new HD where the file is. If in the new external HD you kept the same folder structure that you had on the internal disk, LR will be able to find all your images and re-link them to the database without further intervention. -

Looks like you restored your backup file to her phone. If you didn't back up your wife's phone first, then the data is gone, sorry.

My macbook pro recently got swiped and I lost all my data, problem is, just before it was swiped I set up my new iphone 5 which transferred all my photos and music over which is no longer on the computer. What will happen to my phone if I plug it in?
I never used icloud before so there is no data to back up from. I just spoke to the apple store and they said that if I do plug it in, all the data will be swiped....is there a program I can use to transfer my data from my phone to computer without loosing it all ???

I cant seem to download and install the latest iphone software update. I have tried since the release and have been unsuccessful on more than 7 occasions and lost all the data on the process. Anyone have that problem an how do I fix this problem?

Thanks but I have tried doing the above - when I said 7 times I was modest, its more like 15 times.
And I am referring to the 5.1 software update. I dont have wifi so I guess I will have to try that seeing that my husband also has the same problem - he has also tried downloading several times. It always times out en says that the connection is lost but yet there are always an internet connection and a decent signal once it stopped. Think it said error 32052 or something!
I am disappointed because the update includes inprovement on the battery life - did you guys notice any difference? -

Back up your old one. I use and prefer iTunes, but back up all the data, etc.
Then unplug it. Plug your new one in and go through the setup steps. When you see the option to set up as new or restore from the backup you just made, choose that and your new iPad will be a near clone of the old one.

You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option which is revealed in the iTunes app on your iOS device by tapping the more button at the bottom of the screen. -

If all your files are missing
You may have logged in as a different user, such as Guest. Open the Users & Groups pane in System Preferences. Your name should be at the top of the user list, under Current User. See also this support article.

Change the Finder view mode; for example, from icon view to list view, or vice versa. -
