Lost all my important bookmarks when I upgraded to Firefox 4. I want the old Firefox AND my bookmarks back!!!

I just upgraded to Firefox 4 and in the process lost all my important bookmarks. Not acceptable!! How do I get the old version of Firefox back including ALL my old bookmarks?

This can be caused by a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

Is your Time Capsule being used for your TimeMachine back up? Or is it simply being used as an external hard drive?

My start up disk is almost full, but I have deleted everything I can find - I think that when I upgraded my software it has saved the old one - anyone know how I can find and delete it?

Late last year I upgraded from tiger to leopard (very out of date I know) but ever since I have been getting warnings that my startup disk is full. I have deleted loads including pictures and itunes but still get the same mesage. I think when I upgraded the old version was stored somewhere and this might be causing the problem. Does anyone know where I would be able to find and delete - or alternatively have any other suggestions for what the problem may be?

80GB is a very small drive.
Sorry Noondaywitch, but omni disk sweeper isn't going to install in the space remaining, without more problems.
My Suggestions
1. Get a large (400GB+) USB hard drive
2. Copy all the contents of your home directory to the USB drive.
3. Delete all your files from your home directory on your computer after making sure everything transferred ok.
4. Perform a clean (destructive) install of Mac OSX and then the applications you need.
5. Check how much space you have left.
6. If there is less than 50% of the HDD space left (35GB or so), then consider replacing the HDD with a new larger one. If it's a white intel mac book, then this is very easy, and instructions how to do it are included in your 'everything else' wallet with your OSX DVDs etc.
7. If you can't replace the HDD, then it's time to consider a new machine i'm afraid.

I'm not sure what to post in? So here goes. I'm a photographer and had 4950 pics edited and store on my mac. My daughter was setting up photo shop and she took iphoto and put it in the trash by accident. We tried retrieving it and nothing! It shows that all of the pics all still in iphoto and the thumbnails are there but no pics? Anyone know how to put these back? It took me over a year to edit these! I'm really freaking out! HELP PLEASE!!!!! THX

First locate the file with the name: iPhoto Library
Search on your Mac for it if need be using the Find command in the File menu.
When you find this file, hold down the control key and click on it, select Show Package Contents.
Look for a folder called Originals or Masters. That folder has the original photos.
The folder called Previews has the edited photos.
If your iPhoto database is damaged, you might in the worst case have to manually re-import these photos into a new library, but that's only a last resort. Don't move or change anything in the iPhoto Library for now.
If you found this iPhoto Library file, then you still have your actual photos. Now don't touch those photos or move anything. Close up the iPhoto Library window. Put the iPhoto Library back in your Pictures folder. Run iPhoto and hold down the option key. Select that iPhoto Library when requested to select the iPhoto Library. If that doesn't work, select "other" and navigate to that iPhoto Library and select it.
Let follks here know which of the above steps worked and which (if any) did not.

Lost all of my contacts when i upgraded to the new software

does anyone know how to retrieve my contacts? they are still on my main mac but will not transfer to my iphone....help!

Have been reading many entries about Contacts vanishing from the iPhone, or even the application's icon altogether...!
My Contacts were still on my Mac and on MobileMe.
So, with No Contacts on my iPhone's screen, I just entered a new one, and just called it Test. iPhone started to sync and the Test address soon vanished. But after ten minutes, I got all my old Contacts back on my iPhone.

Thank you for your response, I went throught each and every step without any luck, even got the recovery programme, and painstakingly tried to sift through all that mumbojumbo to find what i needed. finally found the bookmark bit, but it had been fully overwritten :(, so on reading about previous ff versions, found the sqlite thingys, and they were relatively unscathed(partly written over, but saveable apparently TG), saved them to adiff drive, amongst other possibly good folders. Then looked up how to install them, and it said to close FF, and install to profile folder.
So i tried to close FF, and the original problem from a few days ago, where it asked me if 'i was sure i wanted to close this window as it has X tabs open', popped up again. This is where 'open blank page' selection was set, over 'open previous tabs'. Wanting to save that info on how to sort out these friggin files, I reset the Option to 'open previous tabs', and closed FF. After unsucessfully searching for the profile folder on my laptop, i opened FF intending to search online for where i could find said folder.
AND BANG, surprise surprise, the FF I had just closed with only tabs open about finding out what the heck to do, had disappeared, and instead my original saved tabs were up, and my bookmarks are there..... I am gobsmacked! what the heck just happened there???
I have made 3 back up in different folders now, of those friggin bookmarks. I am weary now tho of shutting it all down.... what if its back to the other pages I had with no bookmarks, tomorrow :(

last thing you can try would be go to settings, general, settings, reset all settings
if that does not work, a factory restore will be needed...

Hi, I quitted Safari and press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons silmutaneously unti the Ipad turn off and on with the logo Apple appears but it has hanged on and fixed to the point. I do it again hold the Home and Sleep buttons silmutaneously and the Ipad turn off and on again with the Apple logo but it still is hanged on the same point. I have do it a few more time, it still hanged to the same point for few hours with no change (like picture):
I think my Ipad is fault now. I guess I must connect it to the computer with itune, or something. So my case is this: at the moment everytime I hold the Home and Sleep buttons the Ipad always off and reappear with the Apple logo and be hanged on (like the pic), and I need restoring my Ipad Safari bookmarks... so I guess I need using Itune or something to get back the Ipad then using Icloud or blah. Quite possibly, at least assuming you are based in the US. Install the latest build of iTunes, sign into the iTunes Store and click the Purchased entry in the Quck Links panel. Here in the UK I only get tabs fro Apps and Books but, if I understand correctly, you should also get a tab for Music. Click on the Not in My Library button and you should be able to download your purchases again.

As I mentioned, 10.4 is the base operating system, and a highly unstable one at that. Best to upgrade to the most current version of OS X - 10.4.8 - via Software Update.
Before upgrading, go to your Utilities folder and select "Disk Utility". Once opened, single click on your HD in the left panel. Then, on the right (First Aid Panel), select "repair permissions". Once complete, select Software Update>Check Now in System Preferences.
While the upgrade is running, important not to use the computer for any other purpose. After the install/restart, "repair permissions" again using Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
Next, go back to Software Update and see if there is anything else to upgrade in your system. If there is, again "repair permissions" once completed.
This will bring your version of Safari up to the most current one.
Important: when you upgrade to 10.4.8, check the web site>download section (sometimes included in "Support") for the 3rd party manufacturer of your printer and any other 3rd party peripheral to make sure you have the most current version of their software in your system. This will preclude any compatibility problems at 10.4.8.

It took me a few attempts to get it right. Last time I tried it I got the card id wrong.
For others: I created the following file
/etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf
with the contents
options snd-hda-intel id=Generic1 index=1
I rebooted. I accepted the KDE prompt about devices being removed. I unmuted everything with alsamixer again.
Sound now works in VLC (audio settings to default) and Firefox, and also in both at the same time. Kmix also works as expected when I set the Master Channel to HD Audio Generic. Headphones jack also works.

I came across this below statement about PO print. What is the impact on all purchasing documents print when we upgrade to ECC6.0 from 4.6c? How to overcome it ??
It seems the way a PO is printed in 4.6c is somewhat different from the way it prints in ECC 6.0. In 4.6c, it references elements within the PO form (MEDRUCK) which holds the data to print a PO. In the ECC 6.0, it doesn't seem to reference these elements on the PO form and so it must put the data out to the form (MEDRUCK) in a different way. We actually use a customized version of the PO form (ZPO_MEDRUCK) and in our testing of the ECC 6.0 it will not print due to the data is not getting out to the form like it was in the 4.6c version. We are getting errors identifying the data is undefined when the new version in ECC 6.0 has defined this PO data different than the way it was in 4.6c.

I think you might have the change the form name in Nace.
Secondly, in you custorm form if you have any routines called then check the declaration-I am stressing on this because when you look at your PO item fields in 4.6c and ECC 6.0 , there are two new fields added -Iam not sure whether this would help you but just check in case .
